Substitutes Marcus Rashford and Marouane Fellaini struck to maintain Manchester United’s 100 percent start to the Premier League season in a 2-0 win over Leicester City on Saturday.<br />

Rashford, dropped to the bench to make way for Anthony Martial, turned in Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s corner in the 70th minute, less than three minutes after coming on.<br />
<br />
Fellaini added a late second from Jesse Lingard’s cross-shot to send Jose Mourinho’s side back to the top of the table after Huddersfield Town briefly overtook them by drawing with Southampton earlier in the day.<br />
<br />
But it looked as if they would be denied when Kasper Schmeichel made a superb penalty save from Romelu Lukaku early in the second half.<br />
<br />
<br />
The Leicester goalkeeper, son of former United great Peter Schmeichel, dived to his right to push away Lukaku’s kick.<br />
<br />
The home side began full of confidence, threatening in the opening minute as Leicester captain Wes Morgan blocked a shot from Mkhitaryan after good build-up play down the United right.<br />
<br />
Craig Shakespeare’s side had to work hard to withstand that early pressure, with Morgan at full stretch in central defence alongside new England squad member Harry Maguire.<br />
<br />
United, though, continued to press, with Juan Mata unlucky to have a goal ruled out for a marginal offside in the 18th minute.<br />
<br />
Paul Pogba’s cross was cleared unconvincingly by Maguire and Lukaku turned on the edge of the area to hit a shot that Mata followed up to sweep in after Schmeichel had parried.<br />
<br />
Assistant referee Constantine Hatzidakis raised his flag, but Mata looked to have been level with the Leicester back line as Lukaku let fly.<br />
<br />
Fired by that perceived injustice, United went close twice in quick succession.<br />

– Mahrez menaces –<br />
<br />
First Pogba half-volleyed Martial’s outswinging cross just wide at the far post and then Schmeichel dived athletically to his right to paw away a bending Mata shot.<br />
<br />
Shinji Okazaki had a half-chance for Leicester at the other end, with David de Gea gathering his low shot from Jamie Vardy’s knock-down.<br />
<br />
But United continued to look the more dangerous side, with Pogba hitting a fierce 30-yard shot that flew just wide.<br />
<br />
Schmeichel was alert to gather Martial’s snapshot from 20 yards, before beating away a Pogba effort and then watching another drive from the France midfielder whizz by his right-hand post.<br />
<br />
Having been well protected by his defenders in the first half, Schmeichel was inspired to keep the game goalless when United were awarded a penalty in the seventh minute of the second half.<br />
<br />
Leicester’s former United right-back Danny Simpson was adjudged to have handled Martial’s driven cross from the left, but Schmeichel flung himself to his right to push away Lukaku’s spot-kick.<br />
<br />
That gave the visitors the confidence to be a little more adventurous, with winger Riyad Mahrez cutting in from the right and driving a ball to the near post that De Gea kicked away.<br />
<br />
Mahrez, repeatedly linked with a move away from Leicester, began to carry more of a threat, scuffing one shot wide and then breaking onto a pass by substitute Demarai Gray to deliver a dangerous cross.<br />
<br />
But 20 minutes from the end, Rashford diverted in Mkhitaryan’s right-wing corner on the volley, with Schmeichel only able to push it into the roof of the net.<br />
<br />
Victory was secured in the 82nd minute as Fellaini diverted in fellow substitute Lingard’s cross, despite replays suggesting he had been offside.<br />
<br />
The visitors almost pulled one back in stoppage time, but De Gea reacted well to turn away Andy King’s close-range shot. Lukaku then blazed over at the other end.<br />

Ekiti State Governor, Ayo Fayose, said on Saturday that all ongoing projects embarked upon by his administration would be completed and handed over to his successor in good condition next year.<br />

Fayose, who spoke at the Grand- Finale of the 2017 edition of the Udiroko Cultural Festival in Ado Ekiti, said no single developmental project embarked upon by his administration would be abandoned.<br />
<br />
The governor was the chief host at the cultural event in his capacity as the newly installed Apesin chieftaincy title holder in Ado Ekiti.<br />
<br />
.He listed his administration’s projects to include the N5.7 billion over-head bridge (fly- over) in Ado Ekiti as well as the N3.8billion ulltra-modern Kings Market in Ado iEkiti.<br />
<br />
Fayose also listed the new High Court Headquarters project in Ado Ekiti and the local government headquarters dual road projects across the state, among others.<br />
<br />
The governor said he would still do several other things that would distinguish the state capital from other towns before the expiration of his term in October 2018.<br />

The Igbo apex socio-political group, Ohanaeze Ndigbo, has condemned the Federal Government’s call for the re-arrest and bail revocation of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu.<br />

President General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Nnia Nwodo, who gave the statement on behalf of the group also accused the Federal Government of bias, double standard and violation of Kanu’s fundamental human rights especially for refusing to arrest the Arewa Youths whom he said issued threatening and hate speech to Ndigbo. Chief Nwodo also urged the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN to “please respect your oath of office,” wondering why the AGF would move to re-arrest Kanu while refusing to do anything to stop the Arewa youths whom he said only ‘pretended’ to withdraw the quit notice they issued to Igbo in the North.<br />

Kanu was granted bail on April 25, 2017, after spending several months in detention. Chief Nwodo spoke in a release titled,‘Attorney General of the Federation, please respect your oath of office!’ Parts of the statement read, “It has just been brought to my notice that the Attorney General of the Federation has approached the courts to incarcerate Nnamdi Kalu for flouting his bail conditions.<br />
<br />
“I am amazed that the distinguished attorney is prepared to contest the superiority of the provisions of the constitution on fundamental human rights of freedom of movement and freedom of association over an erroneous judicial proclamation violating those rights.<br />
<br />
“I am equally miffed by the audacity with which the Attorney General displays his bias without regard to his oath of office. “A few hours ago under the watchful eyes of the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and in total defiance of the Head of State’s proclamation of the rights of a citizen of Nigeria to live anywhere in Nigeria and to do business anywhere in Nigeria, the Arewa youths, pretending to withdraw their quit notice gave qualifications to the Head of State’s proclamation, issuing conditions for enjoyment of citizenship status. “These same Arewa youths are supposed to have been arrested on the orders of the Governor of Kaduna State and the Inspector General of Police for acts of treason, conversion and sedition.<br />

“As the Chief Law Officer of the Federation, the Attorney General looks the other way. He does not go to court to seek an order of arrest or prosecution.” “Nnamdi, as a citizen of Nigeria, is free to hold any point of view no matter how displeasing to anyone so long as they are not inciting or provoking any criminal activities. “I and some Igbo leaders have differences of opinion with Nnamdi on a number of issues.<br />

We have been insulted and abused by Radio Biafra but we concede them their right to differ from us. We concede them their nature to be exuberant as youths but we cannot be judgmental about their rights. “This is a democracy. In democracies, leaders are abused, pelted with rotten eggs and booed at, as the former Edo State governor was booed in Abuja a few days ago. These acts are not necessarily criminal.<br />

“I urge the Attorney-General not to exacerbate our already tense nation by commencing a legal action which portrays him as biased, insensitive and misdirected,” the Ohanaeze leader said.

Former Kaduna State Governor, Balarabe Musa, has said that “saboteurs” were behind groups issuing quit notices to Nigerians living in some parts of the country.<br />

Musa, who condemned such notices, on Saturday, said that the development was a threat to Nigeria’s unity.<br />
<br />
The People Redemption Party leader was reacting to the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra’s reported rejection of the withdrawal of quit notice given to Igbos to leave the north and a fresh quit notice given to Yoruba and Hausa persons resident in the Niger Delta to quit the region before Oct. 1.<br />
<br />
“The quit notices are designed to escalate tension in the country and promote disaffection among citizens.<br />
<br />
<br />
“Clearly, the issuers of such notices are irresponsible groups being backed by some people in their respective regions to issue the notices.<br />
<br />
“Such backers are saboteurs ready to undermine the unity of the country for their own parochial ethnic and political interests.<br />
<br />
“It is sad that issuance of quit notices to Nigerians resident in other states is now the order of the day.<br />
<br />
“The development threatens the unity of the country and the peaceful coexistence of all citizens.<br />
<br />
“The groups issuing the threats are not doing that alone. They are actually acting scripts by some people in their regions who are supposed to be leaders.<br />
<br />
“These backers are saboteurs who are bent on undermining the unity of the country for their personal and parochial interests,” he said.<br />
<br />
The former governor urged the government to take the right steps to arrest the development in the interest of peace and progress.<br />
<br />
On the rejection of quit notice withdrawal by IPOB, Musa said that such rejection was not relevant because IPOB could not force Igbos, who had chosen to live in the North, to leave by October 1.<br />
<br />
The former governor noted, however, that the northern youth group that issued the quit notice did not have the power to implement their threat.<br />
<br />
“All these groups issuing quit notices and threats do not have the powers to do anything.<br />
<br />
“They only create tension in the polity and threaten the peace of the country.<br />
<br />
“They can’t tell people where to live. They are nonentities who are just claiming an influence they do not have,” he said.<br />
<br />
He said that the responsibility to keep the country together was that of every citizen, and urged leaders and politicians to promote peaceful co-existence in their respective regions.<br />

A request by the Nigerian government seeking the revocation of the pro-Biafra leader, Nnamdi Kanu’s bail, is “misconceived”, his lawyer has said.<br />
<br />
The Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, on Friday demanded the revocation of Mr. Kanu’s bail which was granted the defendant in April.<br />
<br />

The application which was based on 12 grounds of appeal, followed an allegation by the AGF that Mr. Kanu exhibited flagrant disobedience of court orders on his bail conditions.<br />
<br />
“Among other conditions for the bail of the 1st defendant are as follows: “That he should not be seen in a crowd exceeding 10 people,” Mr. Malami said in a statement.<br />
<br />
“That he should not grant any press interviews, hold or attend any rallies. And that he should file in court medical updates of his health status every month.<br />
<br />
“Rather than observing all the conditions, the 1st defendant/respondent in flagrant disobedience to the court order flouted all conditions given by the court. The first defendant has in furtherance to the offence he was charged, inaugurated Biafra Security Service, ” the statement said.<br />
<br />
In a reaction to the application, however, Mr. Kanu’s lawyer, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, told newsmen on Friday that his client had “successfully challenged the bail conditions referred to by the government”.<br />
<br />
“Though we intend to file a formal response to their most misconceived motion, it is my position that it does not lie in the power of the AG to ask for the revocation of the bail granted to my client. The prosecution can’t be seen at the same time as the persecutors.<br />
<br />
<br />
“We have successfully challenged the bail terms we considered offensive to our clients constitutionally guaranteed rights. So their recent application is belated.<br />
“Section 169 of the ACJA being relied upon by the AG can’t avail the Attorney General absolute power to ask for the revocation of bail. Parties must be heard on the merit by the court, ” Mr. Ejiofor said.<br />
<br />
Mr. Ejiofor also said the alleged security outfit created by Mr. Kanu is a “mere group” formed in the exercise of the citizen’s constitutional right.<br />
<br />
He added that the group cannot “by any stretch of the imagination” constitute themselves into a security threat.4<br />
<br />
“Let the federal government open their case if they have any genuine charge against my client. They are beating about the bush because they have no case against my client,” Mr. Ejiofor said.<br />
Mr. Ejiofor further said the bail granted his client should be viewed in terms of its essence to ensure attendance at court hearings.<br />
<br />
“Let me remind the public that the main essence of bail is to ensure that the person affected stands his trial and nothing more.<br />
<br />
“Our client is ready to stand his trial but the federal government is not willing to open their case, they are rather interested in keeping my client behind bars which can’t happen again.”<br />
<br />
The application filed by Mr. Malami was pursuant to sections 169 and 173 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, ACJA.<br />
<br />
According to section 169 of the ACJA, the AGF is empowered to make the said demand, in the event where: “circumstances arise which in the opinion of the AGF would justify the court cancelling the bail.<br />
<br />
“Where a defendant has been admitted to bail and circumstances arise which in the opinion of the AGF would justify the court in canceling the bail, or requiring a greater amount: a court may on application being made by the Attorney General of the Federation, issue a warrant for the arrest of the defendant and after giving the defendant an opportunity of being heard, may commit him to prison to await trial, or admit him to bail for the same amount”.<br />
<br />
<br />
In section 173, the court of law is exclusively empowered to act in a similar circumstance.<br />
Section 173: subsection (2) states thus: “the court may, where circumstances appear just (a) vary the order of release of the defendant at any subsequent hearing: (b) at any subsequent stage of the proceedings cause a defendant who has been released on bail to be arrested and committed to prison custody, provided that the judge shall state in his proceedings the reason for the variation of the condition or commit a of the defendant”.<br />
<br />
Part of the allegations against Mr. Kanu includes making separatist comments and inciting Igbo natives to refrain from exercising their rights to vote.<br />
<br />
Mr. Kanu also spearheaded a sit-at-home protest in the Southeast region on May 30, after he was released.

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Arinola said that there had been studies carried out using various methodologies linking cell- phones radiation to male infertility and different results were produced.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">According to the immunologist, opinions differed as to the possible mechanism by which cell-phones radiation might produce these changes in the short time of putting cell -phones in the male pockets.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Radiation from cell phones is said to affect sperm structure, mobility/movement, number, vitality or being alive for expected length of time and in time.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“But it is known that millions of sperm cells are released during mating and only one sperm is needed to fertilise the egg of the female.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The likelihood is that all the sperms might not be damaged at the same time and in the short time of putting cell-phones in the pocket.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The normal environment of the vagina is acidic (from microflora producing lactic acid) viscous and patrolled by immune cells.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“All the same, reason of sperm damage was suggested to be the production of “toxic” or reactive oxygen species by radiation from cell-phones,” he said.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Arinola further explained that the reactive oxygen species are particularly harmful to living cells and proteinous substances which our body sperm cells and supporting materials are made-up of.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">According to him, the production of oxygen species by cell-phone radiation raises the possibility, that cell-phone radiation as a result of careless placements and long term use could be contributing to sperm damage and therefore demand further investigation.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Based on the proposed health risks from cell-phone radiation, it is advised that simple, precautionary safe-cell-phone-habits be practiced in order to protect health and fertility.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Men, in particular should avoid carrying a cell-phone on the belt, in pockets of trousers when in use. This is a wake-up call to male cell-phone users who are trying to have children in the future.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Therefore, users of cell-phones are advised to be cautious of duration of phone possession, frequency of daily use, length of use and where they are kept,” he said.</div>

Those five minutes had all-but elapsed when, after King had been denied at the other end, Sterling collected the ball inside a packed Bournemouth box and saw his effort hit Surman and nestle in the corner of Begovic's goal.<br />

Super Eagles defender, Kenneth Omeruo, has signed a new contract with Chelsea until 2020, the Premier League champions have announced on their official website.<br />

The 23-year-old was widely expected to depart Stamford Bridge permanently this summer, after spending four years out on loan, since signing for the Blues in 2012.<br />

Omeruo has had loan spells at Dutch side ADO Den Haag, English Championship side Middlesbrough and Turkish sides, Kasimpasa and Alanyaspor.<br />

He is yet to be featured by Chelsea in an official game, but made 26 appearances for Alanyaspor and scored one goal last term in the Turkish Super Lig topflight division.<br />

<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">His words: “The directive to service chiefs to clamp down on IPOB is a continuation of the Buhari’s dictatorial and un- democratic approach to governance. I find it unacceptable, abhorrent, and insulting that somebody elected by the people can turn around to dictate to them.<br />
“Buhari was elected to govern Nigeria, he should get on with the business of governance and not try to instigate another war.<br />
“I insist on the boycott of November 18 Anambra governorship elections, because only the beneficiaries of the crumbs from Aso Rock will support those calling on me to rescind the boycott order.<br />
“The call for boycott of the election is our legitimate right. IPOB has only one weapon with which to fight Nigeria, and that is civil disobedience not armed conflict. If we decide not to vote in Anambra, it is our prerogative. It is not targeted at Governor Willie Obiano or anybody.<br />
“We have refused to be provoked to arms rebellion. That is what Buhari is looking for. Buhari wants a war but we won’t oblige him because we are civilised people. We are democrats at heart by nature and by essence.<br />
“No amount of threat or intimidation would make him give up the struggle for Biafra autonomy because it is a genuine cause.<br />
“We are not armed and we can never be armed. IPOB has done a lot to free other ethnic nationalities from the Caliphate’s bondage of retrogression and economic emasculation. Other ethnic nationalities should be grateful to IPOB for giving them the courage and the heart to speak up and say they are not slaves.<br />
“We are not afraid because IPOB is a peaceful mass movement and not a violent arms group. IPOB is a non-violent peaceful mass movement. There is no recorded event of an injury sustained in any of the numerous IPOB gatherings. People converge in their millions to listen to this gospel of the restoration of Biafra.<br />
“We are the most disciplined, most well behaved mass movement anywhere on the face of the earth despite the genocidal killings, arbitrary arrests, illegal detentions with- out trial.<br />
“We are not fighting Nigeria as a state. We are not fighting any governor. We are not fighting any individual because we are a global organisation.<br />
“We are fighting a lopsided, fundamentally corrupt system that has held people down in abject poverty for decades, leading to premature deaths, high scale unemployment, and complete decimation of the economic landscape. <div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">If I was Garba Shehu, what I would have said is that the President has a backlog of work and so had to cancel FEC and focus fully on clearing this backlog from home! It would not be a lie being that the President is always on call 24/7. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">As a Presidential spokesman, lying is the last thing you want to do. Your job is to find creative, but not dishonest, ways to make the bitter truth palatable to the general public. Lack of creativity is a greater liability to a Presidential spokesman than lack of funds.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">And the remark itself (“Following the three months’ period of disuse, rodents have caused a lot of damage to the furniture and the air conditioning units") reminds me of the iconic movie, Of Mice and Men.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Of Mice and Men is a 1937 book by John Steinbeck, which got made into a movie. It tells the tale of of two California migrants workers who roam from town to town during the Great Depression in search of greener pastures.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">How fitting that the lie told by Mr. Shehu should dovetail into Steinbeck's classic.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Just like in Of Mice and Men, we have a migrant President who moves back and forth from London to Abuja. And again like Steinbeck's classic, he does so in a depression.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The only difference is that while George Milton and Lennie Small were the victims of a depression caused by others, President Muhammadu Buhari is not a victim but a perpetrator of the fastest negative turnaround of an economy from the third fastest growing economy in the world to an economy in recession.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">There are many other parallels one can draw from the movie and the comedy the Buhari administration is unleashing on the nation, but one has to be careful in drawing attention to them especially in these days that the military is scouring social media for "anti-government and anti-military information".</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">But I just wonder how Garba could have said ?"Rodents have caused a lot of damage to the President's office" with a straight face! Really Garba Shehu! There should be limits to propaganda.</div>

Thereafter he was at the Presidential Villa until he died on May 5, 2010. For a period of 6 months, his office was vacant until Dr. Goodluck Jonathan succeeded him. In all that time, rodents never destroyed his office. Which just makes you wonder the type of rodents that exist in Aso Rock under President Muhammadu Buhari the man who promised Nigerians change but ended up giving those who voted him as President chains!</div>

Mr. President, buy a mirror and arrest the person you see in it as an example of your zero tolerance for "harsh words"!</div>

To show how useless governance has become under the APC, Yahaya Bello, a state Governor declares a public holiday to celebrate President Muhammadu Buhari's return!</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Now, I sympathize with President Buhari, but aren't public holidays meant to be for events pertaining to a nation's history? President Buhari has been a resident of the U.K. for over a hundred days, has he ever known the U.K. to proclaim a public holiday because the Queen returned from hospital?</div>

Now she wants to use Nigerians to get her revenge! We are not that foolish!</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Did it occur to her at that event that she was empowering the very person she is now denouncing?</div>

They bite you and blow breeze on your wounds so you won't know the damage they have caused. If Oby wants to know who is responsible for bringing Buhari to power, I can buy her a mirror. I assure her it won't be a pretty sight!</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Oby Ezekwesili is a sanctimonious hypocrite who likes to criticize but does not like to be criticized. She once threatened to report me to then President Jonathan when I responded to her criticism, as if Dr. Jonathan "gives a damn" about her opinions! The sad thing is that everybody, but especially her Southeastern kith and kin, knows she was used and dumped by people who know only too well her real nature. I suspect that her bitterness is that she could not attain the heights Ngozi Okonjo Iweala has attained and is still attaining.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Now she continues to prance about giving subdued messages to the Buhari administration because she knows that if she unleashes on them like she unleashed on Jonathan she will be taught the difference between a democrat and a dictator! Oby, in case you do not know, you are a figure of scorn in the Southeast zone where you come from and considered a Quisling in the other zones of the federation.</div>

The President of the group, David Anikuroko, made the remarks in Jos, Plateau State, during the inauguration of the new executive of the Correspondents Chapel of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Plateau.<br />

Anikuroko said, “As far as I am concerned, I have always said it that restructuring is a very nice word but the question is if Nigeria can ever be restructured? Are we restructuring the North and South together? Will they enjoy equal dividends of the restructuring?<br />
<br />
“If the North claims they have 19 states, how do you then restructure 19 out of 36 to be equal with the remaining states? In what sense are we restructuring the country? I am not saying division in the country is good.<br />
<br />
“Restructuring Nigeria is a good thing but I don’t think it is possible. If you reduce power from the centre, are you reducing the people from the top? When people say the present generation belongs to the youth, I agree, but who are the youth? The youth are still the elderly people who have enriched themselves.”</div>

The Indigenous People of Biafra has rejected the withdrawal of the quit notice issued to Igbo in the northern part of the country by the Arewa youths.<br />

The Arewa youths, under the aegis of the Coalition of Northern Groups, had ordered all the Igbo residing in the North to vacate the region before October 1, 2017.<br />
<br />
But, at a press conference attended by the Chairman of the Northern Governors Forum and Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, in Abuja on Thursday, the Arewa youths said they had withdrawn the quit notice.<br />
<br />
The group, which announced the decision through its spokesperson, Abdulaziz Suleiman, also said it would continue to pursue “petitions to the United Nations and the Federal Government calling for appropriate sanctions against Nnamdi Kanu, other IPOB leaders and their sponsors in addition to labelling them a terror group.”<br />
<br />
However, reacting to the development, IPOB described the withdrawal of the quit notice as ‘inconsequential’.<br />
<br />
Speaking through its Media and Publicity Secretary, Emma Powerful, IPOB asked the Arewa youths to ‘stick to the quit notice’, if they had any ‘honour’.<br />
<br />
The group equally urged all Igbo and other southerners resident in the core North to discountenance the withdrawal of the notice and return home.<br />
<br />
IPOB noted that history had shown that the withdrawal of the notice did not mean that Igbo lives and property were no longer endangered in the North.<br />
<br />
Powerful stated, “It is inconsequential to IPOB whether the ‘quit notice’ was rescinded or not because it will in no way impact the pace and direction of our effort to restore Biafra.<br />
<br />
“Threats don’t have any effect on us, so our advice to the Arewa North is to please stick to the October 1 deadline or else they have no honour.”<br />
<br />
The pro-Biafra group alleged that the ‘quit notice’, which it described as an incitement to genocide, was endorsed by the Northern political leaders.<br />
<br />
“The presence of a serving governor and senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria during the supposed press briefing confirms what we have always known that the incitement to genocide, which is what the ‘quit notice’ is all about, has the blessing of the Arewa political class.”<br />
<br />
Just as the Arewa youths had insisted on the re-arrest of the IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, IPOB also urged the Federal Government to arrest leaders of the Northern group.<br />
<br />
“If President Muhammadu Buhari is at all serious about clamping down on hate speech, he should arrest those behind the ‘quit notice’ along with their sponsors,” IPOB said.<br />
<br />
Arewa youths are cowards, says MASSOB<br />
<br />
The Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra, has described the withdrawal of the quit order as “an open display of cowardice and political impotency.”<br />
<br />
MASSOB said it was better not to declare a war one couldn’t win than to threaten and retreat.<br />
<br />
In a statement issued on Friday, MASSOB leader, Uchenna Madu, stated that the Hausa couldn’t withstand the Igbo without the support of the Middle Belt people.<br />
<br />
The group alleged that the Hausa people had always used the people of the Middle Belt as stooges and tools to advance their anti-Igbo cause.<br />
<br />
MASSOB warned that any attempt to arrest or harass Kanu will “bring a quicker platform for Biafra’s actualisation and restoration.”</div>

A pan-Yoruba group, the Oodua People’s Congress, has called on leaders and stakeholders in the southern part of the country to caution the Niger Delta Agitators over its threat of eviction of the Yoruba people resident in the region.<br />

The OPC warned that the backlash of such move might not be palatable.<br />
<br />
The NDA was widely reported in the media earlier in the week to have threatened to evict the Yoruba from the Niger Delta region.<br />
<br />
Calling for caution over the threat, the OPC in a statement issued on Friday, said it “could deflate the robust relationship between the South-West and South-South.”<br />
<br />
In a statement by its National Coordinator, Otunba Gani Adams, the OPC said the threat issued by the NDA’s leader, John Duku, was the second of such in recent time, hence a call to southern leaders and stakeholders to caution the group.<br />
<br />
“We know that the position of the militants may not reflect that of their leaders. There is a need for them to speak out against the move of the group,” the OPC said.<br />
<br />
The group also condemned what it called the “emerging systematic war against freedom of speech in the country and an indirect clampdown on the media” by agencies of the Federal Government, warning that Nigeria should not be dragged back into the military era.<br />
<br />
However, Duku has now said that the militants may withdraw its quit notice issued to northerners and Yoruba living in the area.<br />
<br />
He said on Friday that the group was still consulting and would likely issue a statement after the meeting of the various militant leaders on Saturday (today) or Sunday.<br />
<br />
Describing the northern youths’ withdrawal of their quit notice to Igbo people living in the North as a welcome development, Duku, said, “If majority say we should withdraw, we will. We have our demands; there are demands which the government has not done any of them.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In a Motion on Notice, the government is seeking an order of the court “revoking the bail granted to the 1st defendant (Kanu) on 25th April, 2017”.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It is also seeking an order of the court “directing the arrest and committing the 1st defendant to custody pending trial”.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Kanu is standing trial for conspiracy to commit acts of treasonable felony, treasonable felony and other related offences at the court; offences that the government said are not ordinarily bailable.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The government also said the IPOB leader had violated the terms of his bail conditions, which include that he should not be seen in a crowd exceeding 10 people; he should not grant any interviews, hold or attend any rallies; and that he should file in court medical updates of his health status every month.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Other grounds for the government’s application are that “rather than observing all of the conditions listed above, the 1st defendant in flagrant disobedience to the court order flouted all conditions of the bail; the first defendant has in furtherance to the offence (for which) he was charged, inaugurated Biafra Security Service; and that such an act is a grave threat to national security and unity of the country”.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Joined in the application with Kanu are: Chidiebere Onwudiwe, Benjamin Madubugwu, David Nwawuisi and Bright Chimezie.</div>
