A Nigerian labour union that had called for the shutdown of all Exxon Mobil Corp facilities in the Niger Delta has suspended its strike at its Rivers state branch in the oil production hub, two union representatives said on Saturday.<br />

Reuters had been unable to verify independently whether members of the Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria (PENGASSAN) had shut the company’s facilities in the region on Friday, and oil industry sources said there was no impact on production.<br />
<br />
“The strike has been suspended,” said Chika Onuegbu, who represents PENGASSAN in Rivers state.<br />
<br />
Onuegbu and a senior PENGASSAN official, who also said the strike in Rivers state had been suspended but did not want to be identified, said the move followed a ruling by an industrial arbitration panel.<br />
<br />
Nigerian labour unions have held a number of strikes in the last few months over the dismissal of oil industry workers.<br />
<br />
The latest industrial action was in protest at the sacking of 150 workers in December, of which 82 were PENGASSAN members.<br />
<br />
Strikes by Exxon workers in Nigeria at the end of last year did affect output, delaying loadings by weeks.

Nigeria on Saturday won the hosting right of 2018 World Congress of the International Press Institute, IPI. The IPI is a global organisation dedicated to the promotion and protection of press freedom and the improvement of journalism practices.<br />

Founded in October 1950, the IPI has members in over 120 countries. A statement by the Senior Special Assistant to President Muhammadu Buhari on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu stated that the development followed a successful bid made by the Nigerian Chapter of the IPI led by its Chairman, Kabiru Yusuf, the publisher of the Daily Trust newspapers and Malam Isma’ila Isa, a long standing member of the world Executive Committee of the IPI in Germany.<br />

Shehu in the statement stated that Nigerian team showcased the rich cultural heritage and democratic advancement of Nigeria in a video presentation to win the conviction of the stakeholders.<br />
<br />
He added that the bid was unanimously approved by both the Executive Board of the IPI and the General Meeting which ended in Hamburg. “In making a strong case for Nigerian hosting of the world congress, the Nigerian team showed a six-minutes video showcasing the rich social and cultural heritage of the country and its outstanding values of media freedom, rich diversity and free flow of news.<br />
<br />
“In a video message, a former Governor of Lagos State, Alhaji Lateef Jakande, himself a one-time chairman of the global media body and Alhaji Lai Mohammed the Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism both called for support for Nigeria’s bid and invited editors, journalists and media executives around the world to come to Nigeria to witness an African country’s dedication to quality and independent journalism and the change that is happening within through a democratic process”, Shehu stated.<br />

In a short response to the decision, the Chapter Chairman, Kabiru Yusuf said Nigeria was happy with the hosting right unanimously given. “It will help to change a lot of wrong perceptions about our country. We won’t take this lightly because it means a lot for Nigeria”, he said

The army has dominated Falgore forest in Doguwa Local Government Area of Kano State, after flushing out armed bandits, cattle rustlers and other criminal elements from the forest.<br />

<a name='more' id="more"></a>The Chief of Army Staff, Lt.-Gen. Tukur Buratai, announced this on Saturday at Falgore at the end of exercise “Harbin Kunama” – Scorpion Sting.<br />
<br />
The army launched the special exercise in 2016 in Kaduna and Zamfara states to deal with those criminal activities. On April 19, it launched Harbin Kunama II in Southern Kaduna and extended it to part of Plateau, Kano and Bauchi states. Buratai said that although the exercise had come to an end, troops would remain in the vast forest which stretches from Kano through Saminaka in Kaduna, up to Jos in the North-Central to secure it. According to him, during the exercise, many bandits, cattle rustlers, kidnappers and armed were arrested, while large quantity of arms and ammunition were recovered.<br />
<br />
He said the various exercises conducted by the army across the country such as Crocodile Smile and Python Dance were aimed at ensuring security and safety. Buratai said Falgore forest had been turned into a training ground for the army. Gov. Abdullahi Ganduje, who witnessed the closing of the exercise, said that the bandits and rustlers found a safe haven in the forest from where they terrorised the people.<br />

He expressed happiness that the army had been able to flush them out, thereby making it safe for the people to carry out their legitimate activities.<br />
<br />
He said that the state government would construct a dam in the forest to provide water for herdsmen to curtail their movements, thereby reducing incident of farmers/herdamen clashes in the area. The governor assured the army and security agencies of support not only to secure the forest but the entire state. The Chief Whip in the House of Representatives, Alhaji Alhassan Doguwa also commended the army for clearing bandits from the area. He promised that the house would give the army support to enable it discharge its constitutional roles.

The Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) Nasarawa state chapter, has condemned the demolition of Breeze FM 99.9, radio station in Lafia. The union described the action carried out by the state government, as “an assault on the media and threat to freedom of the press in the state.’’<br />

The state chairman of the NUJ, Mr Dogo Shamah, made the statement while addressing newsmen shortly after officials of Nasarawa Urban Development Board (NUDB) demolished the radio house.<br />
<br />
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Breeze FM 99.9, the first privately owned media outfit in the state, was recently commissioned by Gov. Umaru Al-Makura. However, on May 12, barely two months after the commissioning, NUDB issued the management of the station with quit notice over allegations that the original plan of the structure had been violated. Despite explanations given by the management of the station, the board notified it on Friday that the demolition would be carried out on Saturday. Shammah accused the government of not following due process in carrying out the action.<br />
<br />
He declared that the haste with which NUDB demolished the radio station, made it clear that the government took the action to gag journalists in the state from carrying out their legitimate duties The chairman said: “it is an unfortunate development that in a democratic setting, somebody will demolish a radio station serving the common people. “The government needed to accept that there must avenue for people to air their views.<br />
<br />
“It was the same government that commissioned the station; for the government to come up with violation papers is mere excuse. “This is an assault on journalists in the state; the government is trying to gag the press and stop people from getting balanced reportage.” Shammah said the state chapter of the NUJ would not tolerate the action, adding that it would write to its national secretariat to take necessary action to avert such development in future.<br />
<br />
“We will not tolerate this kind of action, and we will call on the national secretariat to take action. “We want government to appreciate the role of the media and know that there can be no democracy without the media’’ he said. He urged journalists in the state to exhibit maturity and be responsible, adding that they should not deviate from their professional duty of unbiased, objective and quality reportage no matter the consequence.

The Joint Admissions Matriculation Board (JAMB) says more than 10,000 candidates caught for examination malpractices in the on-going UTME in Anambra have been handed over to appropriate authority.<br />

Mrs Lynda Nwachukwu, the Coordinator of the board in Anambra, disclosed this to newsmen in Awka on Saturday. NAN reports that the all computer-based testing (CBT) mode 2017 UTME, which started on May 13 in 642 centres nationwide, ended on May 20. Nwachukwu said that the examination, which took place in 28 centres in the state, was successful.<br />
<br />
“There was no disruption of the exercise in any of the examination centres,’’ she said. The coordinator said that the candidates adhered strictly to the requirements of the examination, adding that JAMB provided all the materials required for the examination.<br />
<br />
NAN correspondent, who monitored the last batch of the examination, reports that some parents complained of system failure in some CBT centres in the state. Mrs Eucharia Okonkwo, a parent, said her daughter, who wrote the examination at the St Mary’s High School Ifite-Dunu centre, could not complete the examination due to the faulty computer and network failure at the centre. According to her daughter, many candidates could not complete the questions in record time because of the faulty system.<br />
<br />
Okonkwo advised JAMB to plan well for examination in subsequent years to avoid the technical hitches that could give the candidates psychological trauma. Dr. Mose Mojekeh, Head, Department of Marketing at the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University, told NAN on a telephone, that such system failure in UTME was not acceptable. According to him, the hiccups could potentially deny young people from Anambra State, university admission. Mojekeh advised JAMB to urgently collate the number of candidates affected and set another examination for them. He also decried the practice whereby JAMB sends officials from one state to supervise examinations in another state.<br />
<br />
“Experience has shown that such officials do not care much about the candidates when problems arise, as they leave them to their fate,’’ the lecturer said.<br />
<br />
He called on the management of schools, whose candidates experienced the computer failure, to take their complaints to the State Ministry of Education to present their cases. NAN reports that the JAMB concluded its CBT on May 20.

The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has reported that no fewer than 10,000 Nigerians died between January and May 2017 while trying to illegally migrate through the Mediterranean Sea and the deserts.<br />

The Punch on Saturday quoted NIS Assistant Comptroller-General, in charge of training, manpower and development, Mr. Maroof Giwa, who spoke in Ilorin, on the sidelines of a training on ‘trafficking in persons/smuggling of migrants at various borders’.<br />
<br />
He said 4,900 Nigerians died in the Mediterranean Sea while the rest died while going through the deserts in their bid to cross to Europe.<br />
<br />
This is just as the Kwara State Comptroller, NIS, Mrs. Abiodun Abimbola-Ojo, said the command rescued no fewer than 36 victims of trafficking from 2015 till date.<br />
<br />
She also urged people to provide NIS with useful information that would aid the agency to effectively combat trafficking.<br />
<br />
Giwa said Nigeria is a member of many international instruments and had signed a number of agreements and treaties, particularly regarding trafficking in persons and smuggling of illegal migrants.<br />
<br />
He noted that there is therefore the obligation for the country to implement such agreements, adding that illegal migrants and traffickers (from Nigeria) go through Niger Republic, Mali, Libya and Morocco.<br />
<br />
“Smuggling of migrants is taking a front burner in world affairs today. Almost every day, you hear stories of boat capsizing and people trying to reach Europe. Nigerians are dying almost every day.<br />
<br />
“This year alone, 4,900 Nigerians died on the Mediterranean route to Europe. There are countless others who died on their way through the deserts; we have even lost count. Many more perished on that route.<br />
<br />
“In fact over 10,000 people have died on the Mediterranean route and the deserts. Those who died in the deserts are far more than the dead victims along the Mediterranean route.”

The Nigerian Army has denied manhandling or arresting any woman during a meeting of the Indigenous People of Biafra held at Abriba, Abia state on Friday.<br />

In a statement made available to our correspondent in Awka, Anambra state on Saturday by the Army Deputy Director Public Relations, Colonel Sagir Musa, 82 Division, described IPOB’s claim that its women were attacked and molested by soldiers and other security agencies during the meeting as false and criminal misrepresentation.<br />
<br />
He said the whole episode was stage-managed by IPOB for cheap propaganda.<br />
<br />
He said, “Let me make it clear that the drama and the allegation that followed were deliberately staged by IPOB. The allegation, just like others before it, is false, sheer IPOB’s propaganda to discredit the Nigerian Army, which at the moment, they will not succeed.<br />
<br />
“Hence, I was able to confirm from the Officer in Charge of the patrol of Abiriba and its environs, Major Danjuma Ali and the Divisional Police Officer in charge of Abiriba, Superintendent Titus Ugwuoke who briefed me, there was no truth in the IPOB’s accusation.

Some of the parents clutched dear daughters in disbelief, some shed tears of joy, and some gathered together in prayers while weeping.<br />

Before meeting their parents, the girls reunited with 21 of their colleagues who were released in October 2016 following successful negotiations between the government and Boko Haram.<br />

Over 100 of the girls are, however, still in Boko Haram captivity.<br />
<br />
The Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs Jummai Alhassan, called Nigerians to support the Federal Government as it continues negotiations to secure their freedom.

Osinbajo, who delivered the president’s oration at the funeral service, described Adebayo as an officer and a gentleman indeed, saying his military trajectory was in a way a lesson in Nigeria’s history.<br />

He said the Adeyinka Adebayo Federal University, Oye-Ekiti, was one of the ways Nigeria would appreciate his contributions to the unity of the country and immortalise him.<br />

He added that Adebayo fought relentlessly for the unity of the country during the civil war that ravaged the country between 1967 and 1970, and that he suggested to the federal government to opt for dialogue rather than the use of force.<br />
<br />
“This is a celebration of a life of sacrifice and dedication to one’s community and nation. General Adebayo was a fine gentleman and the first indigenous Chief of Army Staff who Mr. President had a harmonious relationship with.<br />
<br />
“To let you know how respectable this man was to President Buhari, the president personally instructed me to be here. General Adebayo had demonstrated that one must learn how to impact the community where he has the opportunity of serving. As a military officer, he did well and a military governor, he served the people selflessly.<br />
<br />
“As a military officer in 1967, he fought hard to prevent the rebel army from making an incursion into Lagos, the then Federal Capital Territory. He headed the post-war conciliation committee for the integration of the Igbos back to Nigeria. In fact, his military trajectory was a case study in Nigeria.<br />
<br />
“General Adebayo did not only serve Nigeria, he served with integrity. In the struggle for democracy in Nigeria, General Adebayo was a member of National Democratic Coalition.<br />
<br />
A former Governor and son of the deceased, Otunba Adeniyi Adebayo, who spoke on behalf of the family, thanked Governor Ayodele Fayose for naming the new Government House and the General Hospital in Iyin-Ekiti after his late father.<br />

He said Fayose had been very supportive of the family since his father died on March 8, 2017, and had taken it upon himself to ensure that we gave him a befitting burial.<br />

Like Obasanjo, Jonathan tolerated and enabled the establishment of Boko Haram in the wilderness of the northeast. He did not care and saw it as an opportunity for political slander against his perceived enemies in the north and also as a cash cow for embezzling massive defense allocations. “Let them kill themselves,” he was reported to have once said when given breaking news of terror incidents.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Obstructed By Northern Elite</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Jonathan in his political desperation handed over his party to the north. It is on record that his PDP party chairman, Bamanga Tukur, a typical northern elite who President Muhammadu Buhari recently praised on his birthday, said as recorded in the Punch that, “Boko Haram is fighting for justice; Boko Haram is another name for justice.” This was a strong sentiment in the north from when Boko Haram II started in 2011 till late 2013 when Sheikh Gumi and Muslims Against Terror broke ranks and voiced loud condemnations of the group.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In June of 2013, The Nation bore the headline, “Buhari faults clampdown on Boko Haram members.” Quoting the article, ”He (Buhari) accused the government of killing and destroying their houses while the Niger Delta militants were given special treatment by the government. Buhari who spoke on Sunday on a Liberty Radio programme, Guest of the Week monitored in Kaduna also admitted that the road to the registration of the All Progressive Congress (APC) was rough.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The north did not care about Boko Haram at this point and saw it simply as a tool to prove Jonathan’s ineptness. Any move he made was opposed by the north. At a point when Boko Haram had conquered 23 of 27 local governments in Borno and a ThinkTank I was a part of with a ground-shaking article published May 8th 2013, successfully pushed Jonathan to cut short his South Africa trip and immediately deploy excess battalions to the northeast and declare a State of emergency, the northern elite kicked against it. The Governors’ forum headed by Rotimi Amaechi a founder of the APC, advised him to not listen to us, with the words below as quoted from PremiumTimes of May 13th, 2013:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“We urge the Federal Government to continue to support affected states in the bid to check violence…We also call on the Federal Government to ignore the ongoing agitation for a state of emergency in some parts of the country. These requests are being made by people who do not wish our country well and who are bent on plunging the country into a deeper crisis.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The weak Jonathan declared a half-baked State of emergency leaving the governors in situ. This was his undoing as Borno Governor Shettima will later violate WAEC order and keep a Chibok school open for exams which paved the way for Boko Haram to abduct over 270 girls in what will be Jonathan’s greatest international embarrassment and partly cost him the presidency.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The same governor admitted to Premium Times last August that he did not even raise alarm over the kidnap of the girls under his domain to the president for a full three weeks.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The United States blocked Nigeria from purchasing weapons to fight Boko Haram. One of former President Jonathan’s blunders which only he can be blamed for, is not telling Nigerians of this serious hinderance in time.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Not only did the US not sell any weapons to Jonathan, but Obama also blocked Nigeria from buying them from various countries. This while several autocratic countries with major human right violations were supplied steady ammo by the Obama admin. We recall that Hillary Clinton resisted labelling Boko Haram a terrorist organisation in spite of it being the most deadly in the world.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">This is the uphill battle Goodluck Jonathan faced; waged by internal and external enemies. When Jonathan finally realized that he had set himself up and his re-election depended on defeating Boko Haram, he scrambled in a last minute “6-month war” effort to decisively crush the terrorists. Here I believe is where the controversial aspect of the history begins.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">I open with a challenge for anyone to give the list of towns in the northeast liberated under Buhari as against the list of towns liberated in Jonathan’s 6-month campaign. I also would like a list of the number of terrorists the Buhari government killed or captured to compare to Jonathan’s record of thousands.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Equipment</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Goodluck Jonathan first bought the weapons Nigeria had not bought since the 80s. Neither Babangida, nor Abacha, nor Abdulsalami, nor Obasanjo, nor Yar’Adua had bought any decent weapons and war machines for Nigeria over a span of 30 odd years. Against obstruction from the US, Jonathan succeeded in bringing in some serious equipment. Nigerians all watched as powerful T72 M1s from Ukraine were driven up north. Beeagle blog, a foremost military conversation website publicized these deadly acquisitions while Nigerians did not care and focused only on politics.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">As history was being turned on its head, Dasuki later defended himself and attempted to correct our narrative by making public, images of the sophisticated arms the Jonathan government bought. <div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In the six months including when Jonathan postponed the elections till March to buy an extra month and half, Jonathan brought in these APCs, MRAPs, tanks, drones and other equipment to capacitate the Nigerian military at the war front.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It must be mentioned that Boko Haram was one of the most motivated, financed and battle hardened armies in Africa at the time. With promises of heaven, laced with hard drugs that made the heaven practically visible, Boko Haram was not only battle-hardened but potentially larger than the Nigerian military. With recruitable mercenary forces across west Africa and to the Congo, the Boko Haram army stood at a high point of as many as 40,000 soldiers.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Mercenaries</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Goodluck Jonathan hired mercenaries from South Africa to wage the bloody war, the 72 Mobile Force. These hardened mercenaries did not come to Nigeria to drink tea in Maiduguri. They knew how to operate the REVA MRAPs and other sophisticated machinery and the modified F7 supersonic jets, and that is what they came and did.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Of course, I accept a lot of the blame in the narrative being as inaccurate as it is today. Instead of also acknowledging the triumphs these mercenaries were achieving in record time, we all focused on condemning Jonathan for allowing matters deteriorate to the point where he was paying foreigners as much as $350 a day to fight our war for us.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Chad Troops</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Even if we deny what our own military did during Jonathan’s six-month war, can we deny what the “janjaweed” Chadian army did in the northeast? I do not think the inhabitants of the northeast can ever deny and discount the many times they celebrated and gave food and water to Chadian troops as they massacred and pursued Boko Haram from town to town, liberating successive towns and villages in the northeast. There is ample local Chad TV video of these conquests.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Jonathan signed an MoU with Chad’s Idriss Deby and his troops, some of the most battle hardened in Africa, came into Nigeria and competed with a revived Nigerian army liberating cities from various extents of the state. Reuters has one of the typical videos up on Youtube showing the liberation of Damask in March of 2015. It reports that 200 terrorists were killed in that battle. Vice News has “Chad’s war against Boko Haram.” AlJazeera also has its video from March 2015 in which it reports on the Chadian army liberation of many cities including Dikwa where the journalist’s chopper landed.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Cities Jonathan Liberated</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria’s 7 Infantry Division with the assistance of South African 72 Mobile force troops retook Bama as reported in PremiumTimes on March 16th 2015. On 27th March foreign media reported Nigeria’s capture of Gwoza, Boko Haram’s urban headquarters.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Chief Media Consultant to the Forum of Spokespersons of Security and Response, Agencies, FOSSRA, Yushau Shuaib resigned in protest in March of 2016 after the Buhari government’s Jon Ode-led panel denied the equipment acquisitions and war accomplishments of the Jonathan administration.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In a scathing reaction to the new administration, Shuaib listed major cities liberated by Jonathan’s pre-election push, he said,</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“some of the towns recovered before the coming of President Buhari were Abadam, Askira, Baga, Bama, Bita, Buni Yadi, Damboa, Gamboru Ngala, Goniri, Gujba, Gulani, Gwoza, Hong, Konduga, Kukawa, Marte, Madagali, Michika, Monguno, as well as Mubi and many others.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“A clear testimony to some of the accomplishments was the official DHQ release dated March 16, 2015 with reference No: DHQ/ABJ/901/32/DDI and entitled: “Troops finally rout terrorists from Bama and last stronghold in Yobe.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The onus is on those who deny the achievements of the Jonathan government in its last minute six-month war to provide a list of major cities liberated by the Buhari government. Can Army Chief Tukur Yusuf Buratai deny these accomplishments of the army under the command of former President Goodluck Jonathan? It will do Nigeria good and history a great favor to have a comprehensive response from CoAS Buratai.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Boko Haram was largely pushed out of Nigeria’s major towns back into Sambisa forest and remote villages and settlements. The Buhari government’s major achievement has been the liberation of a good amount of Sambisa forest, though the terrorists are still based in some parts of it. Unfortunately the terrorists have retaken the famous “Ground Zero,” according to ENDS sources.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In praise to Buhari was the discovery of a massive Boko Haram supply barge and 4000 petroleum drums, dealing the terrorists a most severe logistics blow. Again this was in July of 2015, and could be argued to have been under the momentum built by Jonathan.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">So where is the evidence of Buhari’s decimation of Boko Haram, other than mopping up and opening up towns liberated by the army under the previous administration? Jonathan could not repopulate the towns due to mine fears. The Buhari government is slowly de-mining them before attempting to restore the surviving inhabitants.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The only time we heard the Buhari government announce the killing of over 200, was when they accidentally bombed an IDP camp in Rann, killing 236.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It is recollected that Jonathan secured the northeast to the extent that peaceful elections could hold. This is irrefutable evidence of the success of his campaign against the terrorist organisation before handing over.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It was based on the momentum built by Jonathan that Buhari could promise to defeat the terrorists by December of his first year in office, and announce that he had pretty much completed that with only mop up operations left. The evidence points out that it was Jonathan who had completed 80% of the strategic defeat and the Buhari government finished the rest 20% by December of 2015 and since then embarked in mop up and negotiations with the terrorists to reintegrate into civilian populations. 40,000 soldiers just don’t disappear.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">A lot of what Jonathan did and Buhari has continued is under the counter negotiations with terrorists dropping their arms and silently attempting to lead normal lives. The governor of Taraba state just complained that there are too many of these ex-Boko Haram terrorists in his state now battling an uptick in violent crime”.</div>

<a name='more' id="more"></a>This was even as the police stated that it is the normal and standard practice that when Form B and C are served on pathologists, the report of the autopsy is to be submitted to the police and not family members as it is in the present case of Late Senator Adeleke.<br />
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">At the resumed Coroner hearing,  Osun Police Command held that the essence of submitting the report to the police, upon a request for autopsy, is that it will enable the police when necessary, to pursue criminal prosecution, hence the duplication and submission of such to the State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Coroner also heard that the Adeleke family did not order for the autopsy carried out on the deceased. Dr. Taiwo Olufemi Solaja who examined the deceased for autopsy, said he only acted on the orders of Coroner Dorcas Ajiboye.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Aderibigbe, who claimed to be a Chief Nursing Officer at Comprehensive Health Centre, Edunabon, Osun State, had during his evidence before the Coroner Inquest set up by the Osun State Government to probe Adeleke’s death yesterday (Thursday) denied administering Gentamicine on the senator while treating him for gout.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The Nurse said he diluted Hydrocortisone in fluid and gave Metamyzole, Diazepam, Pentazocine and Analgin intramuscular to the deceased.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Police toxicology report on the pathological examination carried out on the deceased by Mr. Benedict Agbu, a police forensic expert, revealed that Adeleke was administered with Gentamicine before his death.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The report which was admitted in exhibit at the coroner disclosed that Metamyzole, Diazepam, Pentazocine and Analgin were administered on Adeleke intravenously against Aderibigbe’s claim.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Analyses of the findings in the blood and urine samples taken from Adeleke’s corpse, as contained in the toxicology report proved negative result for the presence of chlorinated hydrocarbon herbicides, organo-paosforous pesticide, rodenticides, metallic poison, cynide and tri-cylic anti depressants.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The report which was read at the Coroner by a Superintendent of Police, Mr. Moses read in part, “The digested food particles were found in the gastric content but no drug particle was found in the exhibit.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Fatalities have been reported at the following blood concentration: Metamyzole (Analgin) 22.0ug/ml, Pentazocin, 1.2ug/ml, Gentamicin 12ug/ml, Diazepam, 5.0ug/ml, hydrocortisone, 3.7ug/ml.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The presence of alcohol was also confirmed in the blood, urine and gastric content with concentration of 450ug/ml, 215ug/ml and 562ug/ml respectively. The blood concentrations of the drugs are above the levels known to cause fatalities.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The confirmation of Diazepam, Pentazocine, Hydrocortisone and alcohol with the established concentration in the body of the deceased is capable of producing a fatal Synergetic Hypertensive and respiratory depressive effect. With the route of the delivery (intravenous) of the drugs, the effect will be sudden and capable of occurring in minutes.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Such fatalities have been reported in literature. The low concentrations of the substances in the gastric content are as a result of the route of administration of the drugs.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">However, the toxicology reports, Aderibigbe’s statement with the Police, reply of the Principal of the School of Nursing, Osogbo for the confirmation of Aderibigbe’s Nursing certificate were produced at the Coroner inquest and were all admitted as exhibits CE6A, CE6B, CE6C and CE6D.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Meanwhile, a lawyer who was observing the proceeding, Dr. Basiru Ajibola, urged the Coroner to call back Aderibigbe for clarifications on his evidence which contradicts the toxicology report.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">But the Coroner, Magistrate Olusegun Ayilara said there was no need to call Aderibigbe back because the coroner would work on the reports and evidence admitted so far, just as he called on members of the public to submitt memorandum on the matter.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Also, a Consultant Anatomic Pathologist from Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital (LAUTECH), Solaja has denied the claim that the late Senator Isiaka Adeleke’s family ordered for the autopsy carried out on the deceased.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Solaja, while testifying on Friday before Coroner stated that none of the family of the deceased ever asked him to conduct the post mortem.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“I was served the autopsy forms by the police and it was signed by Coroner Dorcas Ajiboye. Since it was the Coroner who ordered the autopsy, I am entitled to submit the autopsy report back to her via the police, not to any family member or anybody else”, he added.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Asked if the deceased’s family were aware Coroner ordered for the autopsy, Solaja said they should be as he was served the forms by the police in their presence.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He said the insinuation of a row between the two arms of government was not entirely correct, saying it was democracy in action.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The lawmaker said,“It might look like we are antagonizing each other but that is what we are meant to be doing. It is out of this that we put many things in the right shape. The separation of power principle entrenched in the constitution encourages checks and balances. I think Nigerians should be more worried whenever they see us smiling to everything.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">“What the people are seeing is democracy in action. This will not affect the development of the nation. Nigerians should not be afraid, we are doing what the law empowers us to do.”</blockquote>

“You see, what I am saying is that every Nigerian should be able to speak his opinion about the state of the country, and the country has laws.<br />
“If it is discovered that the law of a country is violated, that some somebody has gone beyond his fundamental rights, the law is very clear on this.<br />
“What perhaps government is concerned about is that violence was part of Kanu’s agitation, to realize his dream by force, I think that is what government is trying to tackle to my understanding.<br />
“So if Kanu is talking about Biafra, he is free to talk about Biafra and everybody is free to talk about his understanding of the Nigerian state.<br />
“We are always talking that the Nigerian state is not working and how can we make it to work? And if the best option, is to call for separate countries, why not?<br />
 “Well, if you read our communiqué in Kano recently, we categorically stated that the Northern Elders Forum is prepared to engage in any discussion with any group that is supporting restructuring of Nigeria, so, this means that we are fully supporting restructuring.”</blockquote>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Let me start this piece by congratulating former President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida on the marriage of his daughter, Halima, to her beau, Auwal Abdullahi. </div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In case you missed the news, let me inform you that no fewer than thirty private jets landed at Minna airport last weekend on account of this wedding that locked down Nigeria!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><a href="https://www.blogger.com/null" name="more" id="more"></a>Thirty private jets. I do not even know what to exclaim! This is more than wow! Gosh does not even come close to the exclamation I wanted to express when I first read of this private jet convention in Minna! Gobsmacked is the only that comes close, but even it does not quite capture the reaction I had. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Thank God former President Goodluck Jonathan, who was amongst the wedding guests, does not have a private jet, because that would have been the major topic of the day. The propaganda loving All Progressive Congress would have capitalized on that to rubbish Jonathan. Lai Mohammed would have been hyperventilating with excitement at the character assassination possibilities if such had been the case.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">But the lesson Nigerians may want to take from this is that few, very few of those who arrived Minna in private jets have any sort of productive business venture that generates and sustains jobs in Nigeria.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Yes, there were a couple of folks made rich by oil and gas at the Minna private jet convention, but these are not people that did anything constructive, productive or job creating that gave them wealth. Some were given oil blocks or allocations, others were given allocations to import petroleum products. Even a monkey would prosper if given such oligarchic opportunities. But how does that sort of business create jobs or adds value to Nigerians?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Others amongst them are government contractors, supplying sundry items to the various governments at federal, state and local government level. They are basically suppliers. They buy and resell to the government. But how does that sort of business create jobs and adds value to Nigerians?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Yet, they have private jets, private jetties, private yachts and even private body guards!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria has one of the lowest, if not the lowest, tax to GDP ratio in the world. In a country of 190 million people, only 214 individuals in the entire country pay tax of 20 million naira or more. This is according to the very latest official figures from the Federal Inland Revenue Service. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Norway has a population of just 5.2 million people yet they have more than 100 times the amount of people paying tax of $65,000 of more (the equivalent of 20 million naira).</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">But the story does not end there. Norway has never had a private party or private wedding or any private celebration that attracted 30 private jets!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The funniest thing is that Norway gives Nigeria financial aid every year! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">We have a political and economic elite that that are so rapacious and parasitic and who only think of what they can suck from Nigeria and could not careless that they are surrounded by some of the poorest people in the world according to official figures from the 2016 United Nations Human Development Index released on the 21st of March, 2017.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Norway is number 1 on that list. Nigeria is 152 out of 188 nations. Libya (102) and Iraq (121) both of which are war torn nations, outrank Nigeria. But most embarrassingly, Syria that has been enmeshed in probably the worst humanitarian crisis the world has seen in at least 10 years also outranks Nigeria (149)!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">And almost all our elites are involved in this. President Muhammadu Buhari likes to be seen as the only good person in Nigeria but we have not forgotten so soon how, according to Daily Trust (which also happens to be the President's favorite paper) his own daughter, Zahra Buhari, received pre wedding gifts worth 47 million Naira from her then suitor and now husband, Ahmed Indimi. This same Ahmed Indimi likes to fly in private jets, pictures of which dot Nigeria's social media landscape.  I can assure you that Ahmed Indimi is not one of the 214 Nigerians who pay tax of over 20 million Naira.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Yet right there in Indimi's Borno state, right there in Maiduguri where their palatial family house is a sprawling tourist attraction, there are millions of Internally Displaced Persons without food to eat and medicine for their ailments. Perhaps it is this sort of wickedness that Mohammed Yusuf saw and which made him conclude that Boko (book) must be Haram, if it can make people so oblivious to the suffering around them.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It is this same Indimi family that likes to marry and be married to Nigeria's high and mighty (President Ibrahim Babangida was also once their in law via the marriage of Mohammed Babangida, his first son, to Rahama Indimi). </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Many Nigerians are not aware that if you isolate Borno state from the rest of Nigeria, that state becomes the poorest region on planet earth BAR NONE! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Borno has the highest unemployment rate in Nigeria and the second lowest primary school enrollment rate in Nigeria. What has her private jet loving, high and mighty marrying elite done to change that? </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">I was in Anambra once and the type of community spirit I saw there impressed me. They may not have a lot of private jets in Anambra, but in Anambra, they have community associations that give scholarships and business grants to those who are commercially inclined. There is NO poverty in Nnewi, one of the communities where this community spirit is most prevalent. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">They build their own primary and secondary schools through community effort. I am dead serious. If you go there you will not believe your eyes! They have well tarred modern roads that were built through their private efforts. All over Anambra, the various towns and villages copy the Nnewi model.  </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">I daresay that there is more evidence of private and community development in Anambra than there is of any type of federal government presence. Anambra does not even have an airport! Borno does. Anambra does not even have a  publicly built federal university! The only so called Federal University in Anambra, Nnamdi Azikiwe University, was built by the state government with  contributions from private citizens and then compulsorily taken over by the military government of General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida via Decree No. 34 of July 15, 1992. But in Borno, they have a massive federal university WHOLLY built with Federal Government funds.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">If any state deserves to be poor from lack of Federal Government presence, that state is Anambra. If any state deserves to be rich by reason of the existence of Federal Government presence, that state is Borno. But Borno is poor while Anambra is rich! Why?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Bill Gates and Warren Buffet are sponsoring immunization and other medical interventions in Borno state. They are together the richest people on earth. Yet their life styles is nowhere near as lavish as Nigeria's private jet loving parasitic elite. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Both Gates and Buffet are known for their frugality. Both of them have shown more concern for Nigeria's poor than any of the owners or leasers of the 30 private jets that converged in Minna last week.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In fact, Bill Gates has personally visited with many of the poorest Nigerians and has administered vaccines to their children with his own hands! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">If those thirty private jet owners or leasers could do in their communities what Nnewi people do in theirs, then most assuredly Nigeria would not be in recession today.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Jeff Bezos of Amazon is worth $67 billion, Mark Zuckerberg is worth $55.5 billion. Both of them are young people who made their money by dint of hardwork, yet none of these two billionaires had a wedding as spectacularly opulent as either Zahra Buhari's or Halima Babangida's weddings. Mark Zuckerberg actually got married at a simple ceremony in the backyard of his home in Palo Alto, California in front of 100 guests. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The British charity, Oxfam, recently released a report on inequality in Nigeria. According to Oxfam, the combined wealth of the five richest Nigerians, put at about $29.9 billion, could end extreme poverty in the country! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">According to Oxfam, in recent years the number of millionaires in Nigeria has increased by 44% while the number of those living in poverty has increased by 69%! </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">And instead of the shameless Federal Government of Nigeria to appreciate Oxfam, not just for its years of charity work in Nigeria, but for this new report which distills the issues militating against Nigeria's efforts to increase human development, it turns around to condemn the report and accuse Oxfam of 'inciting' Nigerians against her elite!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It is becoming clearer and clearer that Nigeria, as currently designed, can hardly produce young people with the mindset of Bezos or Zuckerberg. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">You see, if we do not redesign Nigeria and ensure that the wealth of the nation is more equitably redistributed, we will find out soon enough that Nigeria, as it is currently designed, is designed to fail. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria has such a high unemployment rate because the wealth of the nation is trapped in the hands of carpetbaggers, rent seekers and influence paddlers who flaunt their wealth at the masses without even giving them token employment. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">And it is not as if Nigerians are not willing to work. We are. Strive Masiyiwa, the Zimbabwean founder of Econet, famously revealed how stunned he was when he found out how willing Nigerians were to work. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">When he came to Nigeria in 2001 and wanted to hire staff for his new company, Econet Wireless Nigeria, he advertised for jobs seeking people with telecommunications experience who had electronic engineering degrees and a minimum of five years relevant experience.  </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Mr. Masiyiwa, a dollar billionaire with experience working all over the world was stunned at the response. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Let me allow him tell his story because I cannot possibly tell it better than him.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">"I came into the office to find postal bags, piled to the ceiling!  </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">"I only want to see the applications from people who meet our requirements, and not from chancers who aren't qualified," I complained.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">"Sir, these are the ones we have vetted."</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">"What?! You mean there were more than this?"</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">"Thousands, sir."</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Then I came up with an idea: "Why don't you separate for me, the most qualified academically. Set aside people with MBAs, and even PHDs."</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">A day later, another postal bag of applications was delivered to my office. I was staggered!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">There were thousands of people with qualifications in just this one discipline with MBAs and PHDs!  Many had qualified in the best universities around the world. There were also GSM-qualified Nigerians working internationally, including in America and Europe, wanting to return home!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">I was blown away by the qualifications. I thought to myself: "You can start almost any business or industry here. I wish investors would one day discover the wealth of this nation."</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Whenever I hear people talk about the wealth of Nigeria in terms of oil, I shake my head to say: "You have no idea what you're talking about!" </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The true wealth of Nigeria is its extraordinary human capital, and passion for education. Unleash that and no one can stop them!"</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The funniest thing is that Strive Masiyiwa,  a dollar billionaire who made his money from a productive industry like the telecommunications sector and who provided enduring jobs for literarily tens of thousands of Nigerians, does not live as large as many Nigerian elite.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">No wonder that the exploitative carpetbagging elite of Nigeria chased him out of Nigeria!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Strive Masiyiwa is the antithesis of the exploitative Nigerian elite who epitomize at least six of the seven deadly social sins:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Wealth without work. Pleasure without conscience. Knowledge without character. Commerce without morality. Science without humanity. Religion without sacrifice. Politics without principle.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">The only one they do not epitomize is Science without humanity because that involves work and intellectual and creative abilities which many of our elite lack. If it were cleverness and guile, they would supersede even the best!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Ango Abdullahi</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Ango Abdullahi has no basis for saying that the North would not allow Professor Yemi Osinbajo succeed Muhammadu Buhari in 2019. The North does not decide for Nigeria. Nigerians decide for Nigeria. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">What Ango Abdullahi seems to have forgotten is that it was Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu that God used to make Muhammadu Buhari President in 2015. If the Northern Elders Forum could have made Buhari President, they would have done so in 2003, 2007 and 2011 when Buhari tried unsuccessfully to become President. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Nigeria has changed. Unfortunately, people like Ango Abdullahi and Junaid Mohammed, who add very little value to Nigeria and exist only to make provocative statements should realize that should their words precipitate crisis today or in 2019, both they and those they represent will be the biggest losers because they have more to gain from a united and peaceful Nigeria founded on the rule of law than others.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Nigerians will famously remember Ango Abdullahi as the liar who said that money from the North was used to develop the oil industry in the South. His exact words in 2014 were as follows:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">"It is the North that developed the present day oil industry in this country. It is Northern money; it is the Northern leadership that developed the oil industry."</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Since Ango Abdullahi purports to be a professor and since he is from the North, let me use the words of another Northerner who happens to be a professor to respond to him. </div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">On Saturday the 6th of May 2017, Farooq Kperogi wrote thus:</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">That money from the North funded oil exploration in the South. Professor Ango Abdullahi actually repeated this lie recently. He said this, ironically, while exhorting Emir Sanusi II to “go and read history.” The truth is that not a dime of northern Nigeria’s money contributed to oil exploration in the Niger Delta.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">When oil was discovered in commercial quantities in Oloibiri in 1956, Shell bore the financial burden for the exploration. Other Euro-American oil companies later joined in oil exploration. It wasn’t until 1973 that the Nigerian federal government acquired 30 percent shares in oil companies. By 1973, Northern Nigeria had ceased to exist; it had been divided into states.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">In any case, colonial records show that the biggest motivation for amalgamating northern and southern Nigeria was because northern Nigeria wasn’t financially self-sustaining and the British Imperial Government said it would never subsidize colonial administration anywhere in Africa. So Lord Lugard amalgamated the two regions and used the surplus from the south to sustain the north. It’s illogical to say that a region that wasn’t financially self-sustaining financed oil exploration in the Niger Delta.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It is a very sad day when a character like Ango Abdullahi is called an elder statesman. I think a better word for his ilk would be an agbaya! Professor (?) Abdullahi can ask Farook Kperogi to tell him the meaning of that word!</div>

“It has become imperative for a new minimum wage, because the last minimum wage has a life span of five years, it was signed into law by President Goodluck Jonathan- and it elapsed by Aug. 2016.<br />
“So it is a law that it would have a national application for both those in the private sector and those in the public sector<br />
“So the implementation of the national minimum wage is not only for the Federal Government alone.”</blockquote>

The most difficult challenge that Nigerians face is not the hegemony of the Hausa Fulani ruling class but the ignorance and slavish mentality of some of those from the Middle Belt and the south that they have conquered. Ignorance, cowardice and delusion is the language and practice of slaves. And it is typical of a slave to despise and hate those that seek to liberate him from his slave masters and his chronic bondage.<br />

This is because the liberator or, if you like, the deliverer, reminds them of their slavish and pitiful condition and continuosly urges them to try and break out of it and rise up. The slave either accepts, rises up and follows this counsel with joy, pride and hope believing that God has finally answered his prayer and made a way for him and his loved ones or he violently rejects it and pours venom and contempt upon the one who offfers it. The question the latter asks in their hearts is “who made you our deliverer?” Or “are you any better than we are?” Or “we know you very well and you are not fit to be our deliverer or to liberate us”.<br />
<br />
They cap it all by saying, “who the hell do you think you are anyway?” They forget that the Holy Bible says “God uses the foolish things of this world to confound the wisdom of the wise”. God always uses those that humans view as the most unworthy as his weapon and tool for deliverance. The Bible is replete with such examples from Jeptha and Samson to Paul and Jehu. If the Lord chooses to so do He can use a madman, a village idiot, a comedian or even a monkey or a donkey to liberate His people.<br />
<br />
The vessel or individual He chooses to use, no matter how unfit that person may appear to be to the human mind, is His choice and He alone knows why He made that choice. Maybe He did so because He alone sees the heart of that person as was the case with David, who was an adulteter and a murderer or Moses, who was a killer and fugitive.<br />
<br />
They both committed the most heinous crimes yet the Lord, who is perfect in all His ways, still chose and used them to deliver His people. That is God’s way and it is marvellous in our sight. They say that the most difficult slave to liberate is the one that has been so stripped of his dignity and sense of self-worth and that has been so subjugated and broken that he does not even know that he is a slave anymore. Instead he erroneously and honestly believes that his pitiful condition is somehow deserved and that it is his lot and due in life. He has been subjected to the most damaging and destructive form of mind-control and consequently he virtually lives for, and ONLY for, his master and to serve that master’s interest and do his bidding. Such people are suffering from a broken spirit. They have lost their souls and have been blinded by their ignorance.<br />
<br />
This is tragic but sadly it is the bitter truth. These are the type of people that would willingly fight and die for their slave masters in a war of liberation rather than to fight for their own freedom or on the side of those that are trying to liberate and free them. They are the type of people that would support and vote for those who seek to continue to enslave them in an election rather than for those who seek to deliver and free them from bondage. And sadly a few Nigerians from the south and Middle Belt suffer from that terrible mindset and affliction.<br />
<br />
The greatest source of opppsition that the liberator and deliverer gets is not from the Hausa Fulani slave masters of the core north but from such people.<br />
<br />
I have never heard of a core northerner who has fought for or sided with a southerner that wishes to dominate and enslave him and his people but I know many southerners and Middle Belters that have supported, voted and fought for core northerners who seek to enslave them and their people and keep them in bondage forever. It is a pitiful thing: a great evil under the sun and it is left to the rest of us to try and open their eyes and enlighten them.<br />
<br />
Freedom is not a curse: it is a precious gift from God. And ALL of God’s children are worthy of it. May the Lord help us.

The Ona of Abaji and Chairman FCT Council of Traditional rulers, Alhaji Adamu Yunusa on Friday raised the alarm of threats by Boko Haram to attack the Federal Capital Territory through Abaji and neighbouring communities.<br />

Yunusa made the disclosure just as the Deputy Inspector General of Police, DIG, Shuaibu Gambo assured that security would be beefed up while intelligence platforms will be deployed to Abaji and its environs.<br />

Speaking when Gambo, who is in charge of North Central Zone of the country visited Abaji as part of his tour of states in the zone, the traditional ruler said: “We have been hearing that Boko Haram are planning to attack the FCT and the plan is to infiltrate and carry out the attack from Abaji. We will be the first casualty. We need the police now more than ever.<br />
<br />
“Another issue that I want to bring to your attention is that of recruitment in the police. We discovered that recruitment is done by states but the FCT is not considered as a state.<br />
<br />
Even the big men in FCT will bring their candidates from these other states. I want to appeal that FCT indigenes be given special consideration in subsequent recruitments.” He also spoke on the need for better welfare for policemen through the provision of office accommodation, patrol vehicles, and timely promotions.<br />
<br />
Responding, Gambo promised to relay the request to the Inspector General of Police, IGP, Ibrahim Idris adding that the IGP had discussed with the presidency the need for more recruitment into the Nigerian Police to meet up with increasing security challenges. He said: “The plan is that in the next 6 years, the Police should be allowed to recruit 30, 000 personnel every year to meet the security challenges confronting the nation.”<br />

A suicide attacker died on Saturday in Maiduguri while lying in wait for the right time to attack the University of Maiduguri.<br />

The institution has recently become the target of Boko Haram suicide with about five suicide attacks carried out within it in the last three months.<br />
<br />
Just on Friday, an attempted suicide attack at one of the female hostels was foiled with three suicide bombers losing the lives.<br />

It was, however, a surprise that barely 24 hours later there was an attempted suicide attack on the institution.<br />
<br />
According to the statement by the spokesman of the National Emergency Management Agency in the North East, Mallam Abdulkadir Ibrahim, the suicide bomber was the lone death recorded during the attempted attack.<br />
<br />
He said the explosive on him went off while lying in wait for the right opportunity to detonate the bomb among students gathering.<br />
<br />
The statement read: “Today 20/5/2017 some minutes past 10 am, one male adult suicide bomber hid in the bush within university community surrounding, supposedly trying to gain access into university where students are gathering.<br />
<br />
“Unfortunately for him the IED exploded and killed him, No casualty was recorded. The corpse was deposited at Borno specialist hospital.”

With Tottenham assured of second place in the Premier League and Hull already condemned to relegation, Harry Kane’s bid to win the golden boot will be the focus of attention at the KC Stadium on Sunday.<br />

Kane moved two goals clear of Everton’s Romelu Lukaku in the race to finish the Premier League’s top scorer when he scored four times in Tottenham’s 6-1 victory at Leicester on Thursday.<br />
<br />
That performance took Kane’s haul to 26 goals and underlined his importance to Mauricio Pochettino’s side.<br />
<br />
The England forward’s tally has been amassed from just 29 league appearances and Kane appears certain to retain the trophy he won with a total of 25 goals last season.<br />
<br />
“I was looking to get one or two at least and take it into the last game but now I’m in the driving seat,” said Kane.<br />
<br />
Tottenham goalkeeper Hugo Lloris is battling Chelsea’s Thibaut Courtois for the golden glove, but after conceding against Leicester, the France international has 15 clean sheets compared to Courtois’ 16.<br />
<br />
Lloris though is a doubt for the trip to Hull after suffering a knee injury at Leicester.<br />
<br />
Pochettino would have hoped to have something more significant to fight for on the final day of the season after pushing Chelsea for so long in the title race.<br />
<br />
In the end, it was the defeat at West Ham two weeks ago that allowed Antonio Conte’s side to secure the championship without being forced to suffer a nervous run-in.<br />
<br />
Pochettino, though, can take heart from his dynamic young side’s continued progress this season.<br />
<br />
Tottenham’s wage bill is less than half that of Chelsea’s, highlighting the Argentine’s achievement in getting the club to punch above its financial weight.<br />

The challenge will be to maintain that improvement next season and Kane is among the Tottenham stars to have voiced their determination to stay.<br />
<br />
However, Kyle Walker is a target for Manchester City, who are likely to offer the England right-back the chance to double his wages.<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Marco Silva is set to confirm his departure from Hull next week, paving the way for the Portuguese coach to open talks with soon to be managerless Watford.<br />
<br />
The 39-year-old will meet the club’s board on Wednesday but is ready to inform them of his decision to leave.<br />
<br />
Silva, who took charge of Hull in January, has been offered an extension to his contract, which is due to expire at the end of the season, despite his failure to prevent the club from dropping back into the Championship.<br />
<br />
The former Olympiakos manager is ready to speak to Watford, who will part company with current boss Walter Mazzarri after Sunday’s final round of games.<br />
<br />
Asked if the third-bottom Hull can match his ambitions in the second tier, Silva said: “That’s not an easy question.<br />
<br />
“The chairman has shown an interest in keeping our staff, but we will talk again next week. It’s impossible to talk about other clubs at this stage because Hull deserve my respect.<br />
<br />
“I’ve had no other offers at this point, we will have one more meeting (with the owners) on Wednesday then we will announce our decision.”<br />

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Achuzia, also called the Hannibal, said this when he played host to the Senior Special Assistant on political matters to Governor Willie Obiano of Anambra state, Hon. Arinzechukwu Awogu at his country home in Asaba, Delta state.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He expressed gratitude on behalf of the Biafran war veterans to Obiano for fulfilling the duty the living owes the dead, by taking the bold step on January 12, 2015 to bury those who died during the Biafran civil war.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Achuzia revealed that himself and the late Dim Chukwemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu had met the then governor of Anambra state, Dr. Chinwoke Mbadinuju for a proposal to bury the dead in the Biafran war.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He said Mbadinuju agreed and made a parcel of land available at Uli in Ihiala Local Government Area of the state.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He further disclosed that Mbadinuju later changed his mind and abandoned the plan when the then Obasanjo got wind of it and made trouble with Mbadinuju.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">Achuzia added, “Few months into the life of his administration, Gov. Willie Obiano invited Col. Ben Gbulie, Col. Emma Nwobosi, Col. E. M. Udeaja, myself and others and asked us to join in the drawing of a programme for the formal burial ceremony of dead Biafran war heroes Christened: “Ozoemezina” (Let it not happen again) and I laughed and asked Obiano” ‘can you stand the heat from the federal government?’<br />
“And the governor bluntly said: ‘if burying those who died during the Biafran war will take me to jail, I’m ready.'”</blockquote>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Achuzia lamented that the Nigerian authorities have continued to frustrate and undermine the existence of Igbo/Biafra by upturning nearly every date that matters to Ndigbo.</div>
<blockquote class="tr_bq" style="text-align: justify;">He said “The civil war ended on January 15th and we planned to be marking it every January 15th but the Nigerian authorities trivialized it by making January 15th their Armed Forces Remembrance Day.<br />
“And when we chose May 29 as the day to commemorate the genocide against Ndigbo, the Nigerian authorities decided to make the day Democracy Day Celebration.<br />
“That was why Ohanaeze Ndigbo shifted Igbo Day to September 29th instead of May 29th.”</blockquote>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He stressed the need for Anambra state and other states in the old Eastern region to always observe January 12th as public holiday in honour of those who died during the Biafran war since it was on January 12th that they were formally buried.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Col. Achuzia said that when the war ended, anyone who saw his fellow Biafran would tell him, “Happy survival.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“What then do we say to the dead who were not fortunate to survive the war; Is it happy dead?</div>
