On several occasions, those fights spilled into social media, causing a lot of bad blood. Many have ascribed different reasons for such fights, but actress and producer, Yetunde Bakare, says the underlying problem is blind competition as well as the battle for popularity.</b><br /> <br /> In an interview, the actress said, “Fake friends are a common problem because there is a lot of competition among us (actors). A lot of people create things that don’t exist just because they want to convince people they are doing fine. Because of social media popularity, actors always want to impress their fans. If a particular actor is getting many roles, her colleagues could say the person is using voodoo. Some actors don’t even know what they want, forgetting that we all have our own time (to shine). Also, whenever some actors have issues with their careers, they blame it on their friends in the industry. Some actors don’t even want to be corrected. When one tries to correct them, they think one hates them or that one is a fake friend.<br /> <br /> “I tell people that they don’t have to follow the crowd. Some actors even borrow the latest cars from car dealers all aimed at impressing people.”<br /> <br /> Bakare also maintained that it was a misconception that unmarried actresses do not want to be controlled by men. She added, “There are several misconceptions about unmarried actresses. A lot of people don’t understand that dating an actress is like dating a doctor. The difference is that actresses are always on the screen, while doctors are not regularly seen. The similarities between the two professions include the fact that we don’t stay/sleep at home when duty calls, and we save lives with the information we give. A lot of men are scared (of marrying actresses) because they always wonder about what their wives do on set. Because of that fear, many men can’t date actresses, talk more of marrying them.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “They believe influential people who watch the actresses on television could be attracted to them, which invariably makes them (actresses) high fliers. But actresses don’t do most of the things people think we do because we are always on screen. The fear of scandals and gossips grip us most of the time. Most actresses want to marry and have a home but men also take advantage of us. Ironically, we can’t tell anyone that we are in an abusive relationship because some people would conclude that we don’t want to be submissive. Even without listening to our side of the story, we are already judged. Many men are not mature enough to handle fame and some can’t stand their wives successes. The African mentality is that once a woman is successful and famous, she can’t be submissive to a man.<br /> <br /> “However, I’m a very submissive person and a lot of us want to settle down. It’s not easy to get a good man because of fame.’’

The report was first published by the Daily Independent newspaper of Friday, 17th July, 2020 and reproduced later by the Sahara Reporters.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “The report apparently has its source in beer parlour gossips and should be treated with the contempt which it and those who concocted it deserves.<br /> <br /> “It is true that the Senate President was involved in the consultations that President Muhammadu Buhari held prior to the last emergency meeting of the National Executive Committee of the ruling All Progressives Congress.<br /> <br /> “But there was nothing extra-ordinary in his involvement in such consultations, given his status as holder of one of the highest political offices in Nigeria and on the platform of the APC. Such is required of any concerned member of the party.<br /> <br /> “The Senate President believes that it is premature for anybody to be talking now about 2023 when all hands should be on deck against the myriad of challenges that faces our nation in this period.”

I further clarified the nature of the road traffic accident where one of her excited classmates who saw her reversed his car which led to him hitting her and knocking her down. This led to head injuries and a lot of haemorrhaging which ultimately resulted in her death.<br /> <br /> “The two boys are in custody and the NAF will do a thorough investigation into the matter. It is a routine process – our own processes that are ongoing because it happened inside a NAF base. At the appropriate time, whatever information needs to go out will go out. But we cannot pre-empt that investigation process.<br /> <br /> “Whatever needs to be known will be known; it is standard practice. So, we are investigating the circumstances leading to her death by a road traffic accident. It was Moses who allegedly pulled a fast one on Nwachukwu and cruelly ended the relationship over N13m.</b><br /> <br /> Nwachukwu showed Moses a credit alert of N13m that his brother based in South Africa sent to him to execute a building project at their hometown in Imo State on his behalf.<br /> <br /> While they were both on a night shift, Moses reportedly lured Nwachukwu to a deserted location around the company knifed him to death and fled with his phone and Automated Teller Machine card.<br /> <br /> He was said to have taken the phone and the ATM card to some Internet fraudsters in Auchi who helped him to withdraw N2.2m from Nwachukwu’s account.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Our correspondent gathered that Nwachukwu’s family became worried when they did not see him or reach him on the phone.<br /> <br /> A case of missing person was consequently reported to the police and a petition was addressed to the Inspector-General of Police, Adamu Mohammed, who directed Intelligence Response Team to investigate the incident.<br /> <br /> The IRT operatives were said to have tracked some POS transactions Moses carried out with Nwachukwu’s ATM card to Benin City, Ore and Auchi areas of Edo State and arrested him in a hotel where he was hiding.<br /> <br /> “During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and led the operatives to arrest some Internet fraudsters, Yusuf Sagiru, Tony Bright, Terence Okochukwu and a businessman, Jahswill Ogbonnaya, who assisted him in withdrawing a total sum of N6m from the account,” a police source said.<br /> <br /> It was gathered that a 27-year-old Moses, who hails from Auchi, said he committed the crime out of greed, lamenting that his friend’s ghost had been hunting him since he was killed.<br /> <br /> He said, “I work in a bottle water company in Abely area of Auchi and I have been working in that company for four years. When Nwachukwu got a job in the factory, I was the one who taught him how to operate some machines and we became close friends.<br /> <br /> “While we were working in the company in January 2020, Nwachukwu told me about his brother who lives in South Africa and how he has been sending money to him to build a house for him. He showed me an alert of N13m which his brother just sent to him and that he would be travelling to their village to carry out the project.<br /> <br /> “I was envious of him and decided to steal the money. I tricked him, collected his phone password and went through it. I found his ATM card pin and on January 8 when we were both on duty, I lured him outside the company and stabbed him with a knife.”<br /> <br /> Moses, a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, explained that he dragged Moses’ body into the bush and cut off his head so that people would not recognise the victim easily.<br /> <br /> He added, “I buried it and took his ATM card to some fraudsters. I gave it to someone who hacked the account and stole N2.2m. I had trouble with Yusuf because he and his gang members wanted to cheat me.<br /> <br /> “I stayed in several hotels in Ore and Benin City and spent nice time with women. My friend’s spirit started disturbing me. Whenever I wanted to sleep, his spirit would appear to me and he would be crying. I regret my actions now.”<br /> <br /> One of the arrested accomplices, Ogbonnaya, 29, said he only helped to transfer N1m from Nwachukwu’s account through one Alhaji in Lagos who collected N400, 000 as his commission.<br /> <br /> Ogbonnaya, a native of Arochukwu in Abia State and graduate of computer science, said he used a money transfer app to perfect the fraud.<br /> <br /> He stated, “I sell electrical materials in Aba. Some friends brought an ATM card to me and asked me to help them withdraw money with it. I used the card to make a purchase and used the authentication number to credit my paystack wallet with the card.<br /> <br /> “I took just N1m from it and contacted my friend who lives in Lagos. He linked me up with one Alhaji who gave me his account. He took N400, 000 as his commission and the remaining N600, 000 was sent to the friends who brought the card through Tony.<br /> <br /> “It was on July 3, 2020 that I was arrested. Tony had called me for another deal unknown to me that he was with the police. I was arrested when I showed up.”

Therefore, FAAN has no personal issues with Alhaji Yari and Governor Fintiri.<br /> <br /> “We are simply implementing our standard operating procedures to assure the success of our security and public health protocol. The protocol flouted by both personalities were duly approved by the Federal Government through the Presidential Task Force on COVID-19. They were intended to protect all airport users and to curb the spread of COVID-19 pandemic.<br /> <br /> “By their actions, the two personalities put at risk not only themselves but also other airport users. We can either seize it – or condemn millions of children to preventable illness or even death,” the statement said.<br /> <br /> The statement quoted Dr Faisal Shuaib, Executive Director of Nigeria’s National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA),as say:“We are in a strong position here in Nigeria – we have a full stock of routine immunization vaccines and can use the strong community outreach programmes across the country, not only to prevent the spread of COVID-19, but to also ensure children receive vaccinations for diseases we can easily prevent.We must seize this moment to be creative and act wisely.”<br /> <br /> The statement read in part:” Global disruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic are threatening to reverse hard-won progress in immunization rates worldwide, according to new data by WHO and UNICEF.<br /> <br /> ”At stake is critical progress made over the last decades in reaching more children and adolescents with a wider range of vaccines, including in Nigeria. However, despite this progress, Nigeria still contributes 30 percent of the global number of unimmunized children between the ages of 0 and 5.<br /> <br /> “We have a long way to go to ensure greater protection for children against disease – and vaccination rates, including against the highly contagious and deadly measles virus, are in danger of lapsing,” said Peter Hawkins. “Let’s seize this moment to reimagine how we bring vaccinations to children, leveraging on existing community structures for COVID-19 prevention, to improve vaccination rates too – and ensure a brighter and healthier future for Nigeria’s children.”<br /> <br /> It noted that:”The global vaccination coverage rate with the third dose of the vaccine against diphtheria, tetanus and pertussis (DTP3) has plateaued at 85 per cent since 2010. In Nigeria, numbers show that routine immunizations in the first 6 months of 2020 have dropped compared to the same period in 2019 – indicating a deterioration in important routine vaccination coverage, due to COVID-19.<br /> <br /> “No Nigerian child should die from a preventable disease that can be easily prevented with an affordable vaccine that is readily available within our borders. Let us not let COVID-19 distract us from the work we still need to do to ensure that EVERY Nigerian children receives their full routine immunizations,” said Peter Hawkins.<br /> <br /> UNICEF regretted also that,”Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, at least 30 measles vaccination campaigns around the world were or are at risk of being cancelled, which could result in further outbreaks in 2020 and beyond.”<br /> <br /> “We already knew the challenge of vaccinating every child was daunting, and now we know that COVID-19 has made a challenging situation even worse,” said UNICEF Executive Director Henrietta Fore.<br /> <br /> “We must halt a further deterioration in vaccine coverage and reinforce vaccination services before children’s lives are threatened by other outbreaks. We cannot trade one health crisis for another,”Fore added.<br /> <br /> It said,”Given stagnating global coverage levels, the likelihood that a child born today will be fully vaccinated with all the globally recommended vaccines by the time she will be 5 years is less than 20 per cent.”<br /> <br /> “The analysis shows that in 2019, nearly 14 million children did not receive any of the life-saving vaccines such as measles, diphtheria, tetanus or pertussis. Two-thirds of these children are concentrated in ten countries: Nigeria, India, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Pakistan, Philippines, Ethiopia, Brazil, Indonesia, Angola and Mexico,” the statement said.<br /> <br /> It read further:”Countries that had recorded significant progress, such as Ethiopia and Pakistan, are now at risk of backsliding if immunization services are not restored as soon as feasible.<br /> <br /> “We must reimagine immunization in Nigeria and build back better, despite the pandemic,” said Peter Hawkins.<br /> <br /> “We can do this by building the confidence of caregivers in accessing immunization services, reaching out to people where they are to ensure they understand the importance of these vaccinations for their children’s lives, and protecting healthcare workers so that they can deliver these services safely and effectively.”

Mind you, that of Abdul’aziz (Yari) was on Saturday in Kano; that of Fintiri was in Port Harcourt; and then Chief Nduka Obaigbena was here in Abuja.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “These are all under investigation and if it was found to be true, we will do the needful. If it is found to be untrue, we will definitely apologise to these individuals.”<br /> <br /> The minister said the government would not condone any acts of recklessness at the airports.<br /> <br /> He said the Nigerian Civil Aviation Regulations stated how unruly behaviour should be addressed at the airports.<br /> <br /> Sirika said, “Part 17, Section 97(2), defines unruly behaviour as fighting or other disorderly conduct onboard an aircraft or within the vicinity of the airports.”<br /> <br /> He noted that disobedience to lawful instructions issued by the captain or flight crew, cabin crew, check-in or security screening staff was also a criminal offence.<br /> <br /> “If you refuse their instructions, you have become an unruly passenger,” the minister said.<br /> <br /> Sirika advised VIPs to comport themselves or risk being prosecuted and sent to jail.<br /> <br /> The minister added, “It (the law) recommends the punishment of criminal referral for imprisonment for not less than two months. It can be 10 years. So, if you are found to be an unruly passenger because you are a VIP, the simplest thing we can do is to refer you to the police and they must by law prosecute you and it will not be for less than two months. Nobody wants to be a criminal for one minute<br /> <br /> “So, if you are a VIP, show you are a VIP by conducting yourself in a manner you want to be identified with. We have some videos of these unruly passengers and the punishment will not be less than two months if found liable by a court of law.”<br /> <br /> When contacted by the Punch, however, the publisher of Thisday Newspapers denied allegations of breaching Covid-19 protocols.<br /> <br /> One of our correspondents told him that the minister accused him and some other top government functionaries of breaching protocols at airports.<br /> <br /> “You are now making that up. Often the email appears to come from a trusted contact, and may include some personal information to make the message seem more convincing,” UK’s NCSC said.<br /> <br /> The NCSC calls out a hacking group called APT29, also known as The Dukes or Cozy Bear. It added that each Non-Interest Deposit Bank is also to transfer its contribution to the CBN not later than 10 working days after the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the participating bank.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Eligible activities under the Scheme are businesses across the agricultural value chain, covering production, inputs supply, storage, processing, logistics and marketing; MSMEs in the real sector including manufacturing, mining and petrochemicals; MSMEs in the service sector including information and communication technology (ICT) and the creative industry as well as other activities as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) may determine from time to time.<br /> <br /> According to the guidelines, financing under the Scheme will be for start-ups, business expansion or revival of ailing companies and shall be in compliance with provisions of BOFIA (1991) as amended and the principles underpinning operations of NIFIs<br /> <br /> The MSMEDF for NIFIs guidelines are aimed to channel low return funds to the MSME sub-sector of the Nigerian economy through participating Financial Institutions (PFIs) to enhance access by MSMEs to financial services.<br /> <br /> Similarly, the non-interest guidelines for the AADS are aimed at engaging a minimum of 370,000 youths in agricultural production across the country between now and 2023, in order to reduce unemployment among the youths in the country.<br /> <br /> While the specific objectives of the MSMEDF for NIFIs are to increase the productivity and output of microenterprises, job creation and engender inclusive growth, those of the AADS are to increase agricultural production towards food security, job creation and economic diversification.<br /> <br /> The non-interest guidelines for the AADS, which is targeted at Nigerian youth between 18 and 35 years, seek to promote interaction among state governments, the CBN and other stakeholders in the agricultural value chain in each state to enhance job creation in the agricultural sector, with focus on two crops where States have a comparative advantage, among others.<br /> <br /> Other non-interest guidelines issued by the CBN on Tuesday were for the Anchor Borrowers’ Programme: the Credit Support for the Health Sector;  Intervention in the Textile Sector; the Real Sector Support Facility (RSSF) revised guidelines (V3); the Real Sector Support Facility (RSSF) through CRR; Non-Oil Export Stimulation Facility (ESF) and the Creative Industry Financing Initiative (CIFI).<br /> <br /> Speaking on the guidelines issued by the Bank, the Director, Corporate Communications Department, Isaac Okorafor said the establishment of the non-interest windows had opened more opportunities for eligible beneficiaries to be considered for funding under all the Bank’s initiatives.

They had large number of cases they did not investigate and prosecute. ”<br /> <br /> He expressed hope that the Judiciary would deal with the cases swiftly and satisfactorily, in a manner that would deter other would-be offenders.<br /> <br /> “The current administration is handling many of the cases that the PDP should have dealt with and the new ones as they arise,” he said.
