A local wing of Austria’s Green Party has stirred an uncommon interest online and in neighboring Germany with its agenda for a meeting today: teaching women how to urinate standing up.<br />

<a name='more' id="more"></a>The Green Party in Perchtoldsdorf, Lower Austria, which for the past 12 years has held “women’s breakfasts” to discuss social and political issues, said today’s meeting will be “everything that concerns the pelvic base.”<br />
<br />
 The party said the discussion will include instructions on how to urinate from a standing position at music festivals, sporting events, and other locations where unclean restrooms are likely to be found. The participants at the meeting will be instructed by an expert on how to build simple devices to assist with standing urination, organizers said.<br />
<br />
Martha Gunzl, a local councillor and Green Party member, said she and other organizers were shocked at how much attention the planned meeting has been gathering online.<br />
<br />
 “We always discuss controversial subjects, but because we are just a local group nobody has ever shown any interest up until now,” she told Der Westen. Gunzl said a few male members of the local party will be on hand to help with security, because the increased interest has led to “many nasty emails.”<br />
<br />
 The planned discussion has led to much mockery on Austrian social media, with one user saying “doing it at breakfast does make sense – coffee pushes everything through.” But women have also come to the defence of the Green Party, with one saying “only a man who has never been on a completely piss-covered women’s toilet can’t see the necessity of such a lesson.”

The Oyo State Police Command said that 26 people died in the early Saturday morning ghastly motor accident, which occurred at the Ibadan end of the Lagos/Ibadan Expressway.<br />

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Kunle Ajisebutu confirmed the accident and said that11 others including three children sustained severe injuries.<br />
<br />
Ajisebutu said that eyewitnesses reported that two commercial buses had a head-on-collision with the vehicles immediately bursting into flames claiming 26 lives.<br />
<br />
“Corpses of the dead have been deposited at Adeoyo General Hospital, Yemetu, while the injured were taken to the Ibadan Central Hospital, and the University College Hospital, (UCH) Ibadan for medical attention.<br />
<br />
“Police investigation has begun.<br />
<br />
“The victims were evacuated by a combined team of police men from the Toll Gate Police Division and men of the FRSC.<br />
<br />
“The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Odude visited the scene immediately,” he said.<br />
<br />
Mr Deji Bobade, the Public Relations Officer of the UCH, confirmed that a male accident victim was admitted at the Accident and Emergency Unit of the hospital at about 7. 30 am. (NAN)

The Sector Commander, Corps Commander Pat Emeordi, who stated this on Saturday while briefing newsmen in Jos, said anyone caught would pay a fine of N4, 000.<br />
<br />
Emeordi said that the FRSC Establishment Act 2007, Section 10 (4), prohibits the use of phones while driving for obvious reasons.<br />
<br />
“When people drive and make calls or do text messages, it causes distractions and everyone knows that driving requires a 100 per cent concentration.<br />
<br />
“But the sad thing is that many people, including those who are supposed to know, are defaulting. We are saying that the act should stop.<br />
<br />
“The situation is so bad that the House of Representatives on the 7th of March had to take a cursory look at the situation and everyone is worried,” she said.<br />
<br />
According to her, the use of phones while driving has been identified as one of the major causes of road crashes in recent times.<br />
<br />
“In the couple of days, therefore, beginning from Monday, we are going out massively to clampdown on those who may default,” she said.<br />
<br />
Emeordi also advised road users to always ensure little children were kept at the backseats of cars as a safety measure.<br />
<br />
The commander stated that children kept in the front seat of cars face a higher risk than those who use belt at the backseats.<br />
<br />
According to her, the command will soon embark on sensitisation visits to schools and hospitals to educate parents on the dangers of keeping children in front seat or not strapping them to their seats.

Many Nigerian schoolgirls who were among more than 200 kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014 have been released, multiple sources told AFP on Saturday, with unconfirmed reports that at least 80 have been freed.<br />

“I can confirm they have been released,” said a senior government minister, who asked not to be identified, adding that an official statement would be released later. A military and a civilian militia source in Banki, near the border with Cameroon, said “at least 80” girls were brought to the town late afternoon on Saturday. “The girls are now lodged in the military barracks and will be flown to (the Borno state capital) Maiduguri tomorrow (Sunday),” said the military source. The civilian militia member gave an identical account.<br />

Enoch Mark, a Christian pastor whose two daughters were among those kidnapped, said he was told of the release by the Bring Back Our Girls pressure group and an official in Maiduguri.<br />
<br />
He added: “This is good news to us. We have been waiting for this day.<br />
<br />
We hope the remaining girls will soon be released.” Bring Back Our Girls said it was awaiting an official statement but added: “Our hopes and expectations are high as we look forward to this news being true and confirmed.”<br />
<br />
Boko Haram fighters stormed the Government Girls Secondary School in the remote town of Chibok on the evening of April 14, 2014 and kidnapped 276 girls. Fifty-seven managed to escape in the hours that followed but the remaining 219 were held by the group.<br />
<br />
Boko Haram leader Abubakar Shekau claimed in a video message that they had converted to Islam. The audacious kidnapping brought the insurgency to world attention, triggering global outrage that galvanised support from the former US first lady Michelle Obama and Hollywood stars.<br />
<br />
Twenty-one girls were released in October last year after negotiations between Boko Haram and the Nigerian government brokered by the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and the Swiss government.<br />
<br />
Three others were also found.<br />
<br />
At the time of the release of the 21, President Muhammadu Buhari’s spokesman Garba Shehu said the government was hoping to secure the release of 83 others being held by a different Boko Haram faction.<br />
<br />
Last month he said in a radio interview that there were ongoing negotiations involving “some foreign entities” to release the 195 girls believed still held.<br />
<br />
He told BBC Hausa the ICRC and Swiss government “have not withdrawn their support in the negotiations”. Other countries were also involved, he added, without elaborating.

The party’s State Publicity Secretary, Mr Taofik Gani, said on Saturday said the party was “closing ranks” for the forthcoming council elections. “The factions in the party in Lagos State are resolving their differences to put up a strong showing in the election. “The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC)or any other party that had ruled out the PDP’s chances will be surprised at the unity of purpose with which the party will approach the election. “We will meet them at the polls as we shall surprise them, ” he said.<br />

Gani said disagreements were normal in politics, adding “the party will reach a consensus on its candidates for the election across the 20 Local Government Areas and 37 Local Council Development Areas.” He said the party would strategise and consolidate on the “success achieved” in the last general election in the state.<br />

A pro-democracy and good governance group, Concerned Nigerians, has threatened to shut down the country in peaceful protest if President Muhammadu Buhari fails to conduct a media chat in two weeks to let Nigerians know the true state of his health.<br />

In a statement signed and made available to newsmen by both its Convener, Prince Deji Adeyanju and the Secretary, Dr. John Danfulani, it said the secret handling of President Buhari’s health by those it called a cabal has placed the country in uncertain state economically. The group also threatened to call for Buhari’s resignation should he fail to address the nation.<br />

“For several weeks, the health of President Muhammadu Buhari has been the source of speculation. He has not appeared in public for several weeks and has failed to attend several official functions including Federal Executive Cabinet meetings. “The handling of the situation relating to President Buhari’s health has led to a lot of political uncertainty in the country.<br />
<br />
This economic uncertainty has in turn led to a lot of economic uncertainty as major economic stakeholders and players are unable to make short, middle and long term economic decisions. “Furthermore, the uncertainty about President Buhari’s health is stoking ethnic and religious tensions. Only recently a user of the social networking site – Facebook – threatened to kill 200 innocent Nigerians if President Buhari dies.<br />
<br />
This threat may not be unconnected with rumours making rounds in the northern parts of the country that President Buhari was poisoned.<br />
<br />
“To this end, we call on President Buhari to, as a matter of urgency, publicly address the nation on the state of his health and other national issues. Such an address will go a long way in assuaging the socio-economic and political tensions. “If President Buhari fails or refuses to address the nation within 14 days of this statement, we will commence a series of nationwide peaceful processions calling on President Buhari to resign from office.<br />

The processions will also call on the Federal Executive Council and the National Assembly to set up a committee to assess his health in line with Section 144 of the Constitution if he fails or refuses to do so. “While we recognise that illnesses can afflict anyone, particularly someone of President Buhari’s age, an occupant of the Office of the President has to be more forthcoming with information regarding his health.<br />
<br />
It is an obligation that the President bears to conduct himself in a manner that does not affect the peace, order and good governance of the country.<br />
<br />
“In all this, we wish President Buhari a speedy recovery from the illnesses that plague him. However, we believe that he can no longer recover in a manner that plagues the entire country.”

The Chairman of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, Ifeanyi Ubah, has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS).<br />

The DSS disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday by its spokesman, Tony Opuiyo.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo said Ubah was arrested on Friday in connection with the theft of petrol kept by the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) in his Lagos tank farm.<br />
<br />
The product was valued at over N11 billion.<br />
<br />
The agency said Ubah’s action amounted to economic sabotage, with “capacity to negatively impact on national economy.”<br />
<br />
Opuiyo said the Capital Oil and Gas chairman also engaged in other activities inimical to national security and public order.<br />
<br />
He said, “In furtherance of his gimmicks to undermine the government and people of Nigeria, he has incited members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers (PTD), a critical player in the downstream sub-sector of the Petroleum Industry, to refuse/stop the lifting of products.<br />
<br />
“This is part of his plans to curry their sentiments and cause them to embark on strike and also stage protests in his favour with the ulterior motive of arm-twisting the NNPC to abandon the cause of recovering the stolen products. The implications of this on law and order are common knowledge. It is consequent upon this that the Service arrested and will prosecute him forthwith.<br />
<br />
” The public is hereby reassured that the Service will collaborate with appropriate agencies to ensure that the mischievous activities of any person or group(s) to engage in illegal activities will not affect the effective distribution of products across the country. It will also support such agencies to bring to book individuals or companies involved in any criminal act that undermines the nation’s economy.”<br />

Osun State Governor, Mr Rauf Aregbesola has debunked the insinuation that he inflated the cost of contracts in the state and insisted that the roads he constructed were cost effective.<br />

Speaking during a nightlong interactive session tagged 'Ogbeni Till Day Break', live on television; Aregbesola said those that were accusing him of inflating road construction contracts were not fair to him.<br />

While responding to questions, the governor made frantic efforts to clear the air on the accusation that he inflated the cost of road construction.<br />
<br />
His words: "We are not inflating costs of projects in Osun as speculated by some people. We are prudent in the way we finance the roads we constructed. We constructed our roads at reasonable costs."<br />
<br />
"We cannot specifically give the cost at which we constructed roads per kilometer because certain portions of the roads required special treatment. The structures of our roads are very superb and we cannot give the cost per kilometer.<br />
<br />
"Check the cost of road construction in other states and compare it with the cost at which we are constructing roads in Osun. The roads we are constructing in Osun are the best and we built them at reasonable”<br />
<br />
"Those that are accusing me of inflating contracts are not fair to me. As a governor of this state in the last six years, I don't have a house in my hometown and I don't spend money on women and other frivolities. I don't eat too much and that is why I'm lean. As you can see, I'm not sick and yet I'm very lean. How many governors are lean like me. That tells you that I'm not stealing money."<br />
<br />
The governor used the event to give a stewardship account of his administration and maintained that no government had performed like him since the creation of the state.</div>

It said that Ubah, who has questioned some weeks ago, was again arrested on Friday over his alleged engagements in acts which the security outfit described as inimical to national security.<br />
The DSS stated this in a statement signed by its spokesperson, Mr. Tony Opuiyo, in Abuja on Saturday.<br />
<br />
Ubah, who is the managing director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited, was accused of stealing, diversion and illegal sale of petroleum products stored in his tank farm by the Nigeria Petroleum Products Corporation.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo put the cost of the oil at more than N11bn, adding that such acts were impacting negatively on the national economy.<br />
<br />
He said that the arrest and the detention of Ubah was sequel to the power giving the DSS to investigate economic crimes of national secure dimension.<br />
<br />
The statement said, “In line with the statutory mandate of the DSS to investigate economic crimes of national security dimension, the Service, on May 5,  2017, arrested Ifeanyi Ubah, Managing Director of Capital Oil and Gas Limited.<br />
<br />
“The arrest was sequel to UBAH’s engagement in acts of economic sabotage which include stealing, diversion and illegal sale of petroleum products stored in his tank farm by the Nigeria NNPC.<br />
<br />
“So far, it has been established that the products stolen amount to over Eleven Billion Naira (N11bn). There is no doubt that UBAH’s acts have the capacity to negatively impact on national economy.”<br />
<br />
He added that Ubah had further engaged in other activities which he said were initial to national security and public order.<br />
<br />
For example, the oil magnate was accused of inciting members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers to embark on strike because of his (Ubah’s) investigation by the DSS.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo said that this was part of the plans by the detained businessman to curry the favour of the public and force the government from going on with the recovery of the funds in his care.<br />
<br />
The statement said,  “It is instructive to note that UBAH has further engaged in other activities inimical to national security and public order. In furtherance of his gimmicks to undermine the government and people of Nigeria, he has incited members of the Petroleum Tanker Drivers, a critical player in the downstream sub-sector of the Petroleum Industry, to refuse/stop the lifting of products.<br />
<br />

David Silva, Vincent Kompany, Kevin De Bruyne, Raheem Sterling and Nicolas Otamendi scored the goals to secure City a win that leaves them four points clear of fifth-placed Manchester United and ahead of fourth-placed Liverpool on goal difference.<br />

City needed just two minutes to open the scoring, with Silva capitalising on a poor Martin Kelly header following Sterling's cross, volleying home into the bottom corner for his 50th goal for the club.<br />

While the hosts continued to dominate, their next real clear-cut chance did not arrive until just after the half-hour mark when Leroy Sane had a strike from the edge of the box palmed away by Wayne Hennessey before Sterling then saw his effort cleared off the line by Patrick van Aanholt.<br />

But City were soon at it again when Sane was denied by Hennessey once more after being played in by De Bruyne, before Palace then created their first chance of the game moments later, with Christian Benteke getting on the end of an Andros Townsend cross only to be denied by a save from Willy Caballero.<br />

Another good opportunity fell Palace's way towards the end of the first half when a loose ball deflected into the path of the unmarked Van Aanholt inside the City box, but the left-back blazed his effort over the bar.<br />

Three minutes into the second half and City found themselves two up thanks to a stunning strike from Kompany, who arrowed a first-time hit into the top corner of the net after being picked out by De Bruyne.<br />
<br />
And De Bruyne was involved again five minutes later with his well-taken free kick flying over the Palace wall before bouncing off the crossbar.<br />

De Bruyne did manage to find the back of the net with his next effort, slotting into the bottom corner from the edge of the box after being teed up by Gabriel Jesus to make it three for City on the hour-mark.<br />

Suspected militants who have held Ogun riverine communities hostage for months have attacked the marine police base in Iwopin community in Ogun Waterside local government area, killing one policeman.<br />

The victims was identified as Segun Akinola, a sergeant.<br />
<br />
The heavily armed militants stormed the base on Thursday night, and shot two other policemen, witnesses say. The attackers left with a police gun boat.<br />
<br />
A police official who escaped the attack said they could not fight back as they were “ill-equipped”.<br />
<br />
“The militants were armed to the teeth. They arrived the Marine Base and started shooting. They killed a Marine police man who was on duty; one Sergeant Segun Akinola,” he said.<br />
<br />
“Two other policemen were shot and they were rushed to the hospital. It is sad that the marine base which is one of the oldest in the country is not equipped. That is why the militants can attack successfully. The militants went away with a police speed gun boat in the base.”<br />
<br />
The attack came two weeks after militants attacked a businessman and killed three vigilante members in the community.<br />
The chairman of the Ogun Waterside local government area, Femi Onanuga, expressed sadness over the repeated attacks.<br />
<br />
“These attacks are reoccurring almost every week and it is sad that we are losing civilians and policemen. People are fleeing from Ogun Waterside local government. We are appealing to the government to urgently come to our rescue,” he said.<br />
<br />
The spokesperson for the Ogun State police command, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the killing. He said he was going to the scene to have a first-hand information.<br />
<br />
A source revealed that the militants had sent a letter to the community two weeks ago to inform the police that they would be attacking.

The Comptroller of Immigration Service in the state, Mrs Tamuno Oyedeji, said in Minna on Saturday that the service and Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development provided vehicles for the transportation of the illegal immigrants to Zangon Daura, a border post in Katsina State.<br />

She also said that the immigrants were handed over to the Niger Republic Immigration officers at the border post.<br />
<br />
Adedeji explained that the immigrants were repatriated because they did not have valid documents, adding that their presence constituted a security threat to the residents of the state.<br />
<br />
“They did not have legal valid documents to back their staying here, hence the need for us to send them back to their country,’’ she said.<br />
<br />
The comptroller said that the command would continue to adopt proactive security measures to ensure the safety of all residents of the state.<br />
<br />
She stated that more personnel had been deployed in Babana border post to prevent illegal immigrants from coming into the country from the Republic of Benin.<br />

The World Bank is to support the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in the areas of facilities and capacity building to further strengthen the anti-graft war in the country.<br />

A statement by the commission spokesman, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, said the bank’s Director of Governance, Global Practice, Dr. Edward Olowo-Okere, gave the indication when he visited the EFCC head office in Abuja.<br />

Uwujaren quoted Olowo-Okere as saying that the assistance would be rendered under an operation of the World Bank called “Economic Governance Project.”<br />
<br />
“It is supposed to be a follow-up project to the one approved by the World Bank in 2004,” Olowo-Okere said.<br />
<br />
The World Bank director lauded the commission for the tremendous feat it had attained in the last 14 years of its establishment.<br />
<br />
Responding, the EFCC acting Chairman, Ibrahim Magu, commended the bank for its assistance, saying it had contributed in no small measure to the successes recorded by the commission so far.</div>

Ughamadu stated that this announcement was necessary, because of the recurrent fraudulent adverts on various social media platforms.<br />

“We are constrained to announce, once again, that NNPC is not recruiting at the moment. Members of the public are, therefore, advised to disregard any vacancy announcement on any online or social media platform, as they are the handiwork of fraudsters intent on fleecing innocent Nigerians,” he said.<br />

Ughamadu revealed the syndicate’s method of operation, range from text messages to forged letters, inviting gullible job seekers for non-existing job interviews to extort money from them.<br />
<br />
“To this end, we wish to once again appeal to members of the public, particularly unsuspecting applicants, to be wary of fraudulent vacancy announcements or invitations for job interviews at the NNPC Towers.<br />
<br />
“Anyone who entertains such invitations or deals with peddlers of such invitation does so at his or her own risk,” the spokesperson reiterated.</div>

The apex Igbo body said it’s warning is coming on the heels of the alarm raised by Ekweremadu that the federal government through the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, is planning to rope him in a phantom allegation.<br />

Chairman of Enugu state chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Chief Alex Ogbonnia said in statement, said that even though the EFCC has denied such plot, the group have reasons to believe that such plot is feasible going by the sequence of events that has taken place since June 2015.<br />

Ogbonnia said: “The denial by the EFCC notwithstanding, we wish to warn, in the strongest terms possible, that the Enugu State Chapter of Ohanaeze Ndigbo will not sit idly by and watch our son being maligned; oppressed or ridiculed by the Presidency or the EFCC.<br />
<br />
‘We are not unmindful of the fact that this plot gained currency with Senator Ekweremadu’s role in perfecting the bail conditions of Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPoB, who was granted bail recently with stringent conditions.<br />
<br />
“For the avoidance of doubt, Senator Ekweremadu did what he was supposed to do in the circumstance as a firm believer in the rule of law and justice.’”<br />

Ogbonnia alleged that the Presidency has made several moves to pull Senator Ekweremadu down and remove him from office especially after his emergence as the Deputy Senate President in the 8thSenate.<br />

“Soon after his election as the Deputy Senate President, the Presidency accused him of forgery and eventually arraigned him before a judge in Abuja on trumped up charges of forgery.<br />
<br />
“The Deputy Senate President was eventually discharged and acquitted of all the charges. Soon after this, hired assassins breached the convoy of the Senator with intent to assassinate him.<br />
<br />
“Though this matter was officially reported to the security agencies as well as the Presidency, the matter was swept under the carpet. Till date, neither has any arrest been made in connection with the assassination attempt nor any official statement been issued by the government.<br />

The new method of taking penalty shootouts is already going through trials.<br />

Instead of the normal form which sees teams alternating spot-kicks, Uefa is considering a new system similar to the tie-break in tennis.<br />

The system will be tried out at the European Under-17 Championship, which began in Croatia on Wednesday.<br />
<br />
The new pattern will have teams take turns in a shootout, with the choice of who goes first decided by a coin toss.<br />
<br />
For example, team A goes first, then team B, then team A again.<br />
<br />
This new system is referred to as ‘ABBA’ and sees team A followed by team B – before team B goes again.<br />
<br />
Team A would then get two successive penalties, and so on until there is a winner.<br />
<br />
A coin will still be tossed to decide who goes first.<br />
The idea is to stop the team going second having to always, potentially, play catch-up.</div>

Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has come up with a new method of detecting malpractice in the forthcoming Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.<br />

JAMB registrar, Professor Is-haq Oloyede, said yesterday that measures had been taken to detect malpractices nationwide.<br />

He revealed that the anti-cheating measures would also be used to spot examinations officials involved in unprofessional conduct, no matter how highly placed.<br />

Prof. Oloyede was speaking at a meeting with owners of computer-based test facilities in Abuja.<br />
<br />
According to him, the common fraud of multiple registrations by UTME candidates over the years had be detected and curtailed while measures were being adopted to prevent further cheating in exams.<br />
<br />
He further explained that candidates that jot answers on papers, clothes or body would be easily caught and if the answers were similar to the questions, the board would carry out an official inquiry to determine the involvement of examination officers or otherwise with a view to prosecuting those found responsible.<br />
<br />
He called on the proprietors of Computer-Based Test, CBT, centers to keep to instructions and make plans to ensure that internet facilities and services were intact during the examinations.</div>

The bishop insisted that until people stopped their ungodly behaviours, the situation of the country might not improve.<br />

He identified the current economic hardship as the major reason why some people attempted suicide recently, saying Nigerians needed to have positive change of hearts and pray to God for better days to come<br />

“The various governments need to engage transparent technocrats to manage the economy of the country in order to bring succour to the poor Nigerians,” Adegbite stated.<br />

On the incessant attacks by suspected herdsmen, the bishop decried the killings and destructions of farmlands in many parts of the country and urged the Federal Government and security agencies to curtail the activities of the assailants.<br />

Adegbite, while calling for an egalitarian society where every Nigerian will feel equal, opined that public offices should be shared equally among various tribes in the country.</div>

“The National Assembly members would, therefore, intensify oversight functions, ensure timely releases of funds, as well as ensure their judicious utilisation.<br />

Gobir further said that the National Assembly was trying its best to ensure peace and harmony among all arms of government.<br />

<div style="box-sizing: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> It will be recalled that a member of the House of Representatives from Imo State, Mr. Goodluck Opiah, had moved a motion suggesting that there was need for all oil companies operating in Nigeria to open offices in the communities where they were engaged in exploration.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;">The motion was supported by a member from Rivers State, Mr. Kingsley Chinda, who dismissed the argument that the Niger Delta region was insecure, hence the relocation of oil companies to other states outside the region as untenable.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> But Aminu Shehu Shagari of Sokoto opposed the motion, describing it as ill-conceived, inconsiderate, even as the motion was later thrown out through voice vote.</span></div>

<div style="box-sizing: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> “We state that the call for the relocation of IOC’s is not within the purview of the Federal House of Representatives since an executive order had already been issued and we expect administrative action to be in full swing to that effect.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;"> “Any action capable of undermining that order will not see the light of day as the Ijaw Youth Council will rise to ensure actions with the aim of marginalising or undermining the demands of the region will be resisted vehemently.</span></div>
<div style="box-sizing: inherit; letter-spacing: 0.5px; margin-bottom: 1.5em; text-align: justify;"><span style="background-color: white; font-family: inherit;">“The Ijaw Youth Council wishes to state unequivocally that this rejection is unacceptable coming at a time when the Federal Government has given a directive to all IOCs to relocate to the region as part of its fulfilment of the Pan-Niger Delta Elders Forum demands and when we are expecting the IOCs to make moves for such relocation.”</span></div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">He also said the first phase had been completed, adding that it was envisaged to produce 1.3 million tonnes of liquid steel per annum.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">He said that it would cost 400 million dollars to complete Ajaokuta steel, which had reached 98 per cent completion.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">According to him, two billion dollars is needed for infrastructure rehabilitation and operational cost.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">He said that government had begun to commit resources toward the maintenance and preservation of the equipment and facilities of the plant recently and called for improved efforts.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">According to him, the government is considering the report on various options on the way forward for the completion of the project.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">These options he said include outright sales, concessioning and joint venture of Ajaokuta steel.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">He, however, denied rumour about the company equipment being obsolete, adding that the company, with 98 percent completed, could stand the test of time, adding that all its equipment were functioning appropriately.</span></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">The then President, Alhaji Shehu Shagari, laid the foundation of Ajaokuta in 1980 and within four years, it attained was 84 per cent completion.</span></div>
