Popular singer, Omawumi Megbele, has revealed that she cut her hair on her recent video due to the despair she felt from the pandemic and the End SARS protest.
During the period, the country was celebrating mediocrity, the Delta-born afropop singer said in a recent interview with HipTV.
She said, “I cut my hair on my video that I did; the song is titled BS. I cut my hair live on that video because when I was writing it, I was in a place of despair. It was during the pandemic and I was losing people left right center.”
“There was the ‘Soro Soke’ in the background. People were dying. It just felt like nothing was going right with the country. We were celebrating mediocrity.”

‘Soro soke’, which means ‘speak up’ in Yoruba, was one of the popular phrases during the End SARS protests and was commonly thrown about on protest grounds.
Omawumi stated that she was very tired at that point and decided to do away with her hair, describing the period as a “redefining moment” for her.
Her song, ‘Bullshit’, for which she cut her hair, was released in April 2021, months before the release of her fifth body of work titled Love, Deep, High Life.
Omawumi first introduction to the music scene came after the Idols West Africa reality show in 2007

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has suspended its strike and directed its members at the Enugu depot to resume the supply of petroleum products.
“As a result of the intervention of higher authorities in the unwarranted and unprovoked invasion of our secretariat at Enugu depot, the National Executive Committee (NEC) of IPMAN has called off the strike action.
“Normal services and operations will immediately resume in the affected states of Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra to allow for fruitful discussions, the National President of IPMAN, Sanusi Fari, said in a statement issued on Saturday.
The national leadership of IPMAN had on Thursday directed the withdrawal of services at the Enugu loading depot of the NNPC with effect from Friday.

The NEC attributed the directive to an alleged attack on the association’s secretariat at the Enugu depot on Thursday by men of the Nigeria Police Force.
IPMAN members consequently halted the supply of petroleum products to Enugu, Ebonyi and Anambra, a situation that caused a significant hike in the pump price of petrol in the states.
Fari stated that the NEC of IPMAN reviewed the situation and directed members to resume their services and operations.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that as of Friday, a litre of petrol was sold for as high as N250 at fuel stations and N500 at roadside alternative outlets in the affected states.
The pump price of petrol has returned to the regulated price of N165 following the suspension of the IPMAN strike.

The Peoples Democratic Party in the South-West on Friday criticised a former Minister for Aviation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, over his claim that he had wrongly the President Muhammadu Buhari in the past.
The South-West PDP, through its Publicity Secretary, Chief Sanya Atofarati, said nothing had changed about Buhari as the socio-political and economic situations in the country were getting worse by the day under his watch.
It, therefore, challenged Fani-Kayode to come out clean, describing him as a “political liability” “unstable as wind” and a “political beggar.”
The controversial ex-minister had officially defected from the PDP to the APC on Thursday and was presented to Buhari at the Presidential Villa by the APC caretaker chairman, Mai Mala Buni.

But Atofarati, who spoke in a statement titled, ‘‘FFK: South-West PDP hails APC for inheriting liability.’’ in reaction to the defection, said, “This was a man who openly accused President Buhari of corruption allegation as Minister of Petroleum in 1977 and cursed himself to death in 2019 if he ever attempted to join the Buhari-led APC.
“Now, the question for Fani-Kayode is: what has changed? Have the unemployed Nigerians been employed under Buhari? Has Buhari now been able to curb the killing spree of Nigerian soldiers and kidnappings of innocent citizens by bandits and herders across the country?
“For some of us and especially the South-West PDP, we knew the featherweight politician would defect to the APC because we had always been aware of his insincerity and unholy alliance. We in South-West PDP are the most grateful because the snitch within has finally gone home to roast (sic). We predicted earlier that those sabotaging the progress of this country will be exposed; now, Nigerians have seen it and we are vindicated.
“FFK should not be taken seriously. Even when he was acting as a self-acclaimed PDP spokesman, many of us knew he wasn’t sincere. He was then PDP in the day and APC in the night. FFK lacks the integrity required to portray a liberator’s stature. He is a political beggar whose only source of income is in corporate begging.
“Over the years, FFK has remained a worthless entity within the party and especially in South-West. History has it that FFK has never won any election even in his polling unit for PDP other than scavenging for political relevance.”

Former Premier League referee, Mark Clattenburg, has revealed that allegations made by f ormer Chelsea midfielder, John Mikel Obi, almost made him quit.
In 2012, Clattenburg was accused of racially abusing the Nigerian player.
This followed a 3-2 defeat to Manchester United at Stamford Bridge.
Clattenburg had sent off two Chelsea players Branislav Ivanovic and Fernando Torres and the officials missed an offside for United’s winning goal.

In his new autobiography, Whistle-Blower, he wrote: “Chelsea made a formal complaint to the FA three days after the game. They were saying I had racially abused Mikel and for the first time, I was made aware of the specifics of their accusation, which was also leaked to the press.
“According to Chelsea, I had said to Mikel, ‘Shut up, you monkey.’ The language disgusted me, it was damaging and fictitious.
“Twenty-five days after the game, the FA dismissed the case. I was not guilty, something I had known all along.”

The traditional ruler of Ogwashi-Uku in Delta State, His Royal Majesty, Obi Ifechuwude Aninshi, Okonjo II and his entourage reportedly escaped death in the hands of yet-to-be identified cultists and thugs who attacked them at Otulu Ogwashi -Uku community.
The monarch and the entourage were said to have been waylaid while departing from Otulu Ogwashi-Uku where they had gone to offer prayers with their people.
Ogwashi-Uku is the ancestral hometown of the Director of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Dr Ngozi Okonjo Iweala and the monarch is her blood brother.
A statement from the palace of the monarch made available to newsmen indicated that the ruler and his convoy survived the cultists attack but did not disclose whether there was any casualty.

The statement posted by Prince Greg Okwumbu, the Spokesman of the monarch said “Obi and members of the Council of Ogwashi-Uku visited Otulu Ogwashi-Uku Friday, September 17, 2021.
“The visit was largely successful and the Obi met members of the community, prayed with them and discussed with them about some issues.
“At the end of the visit and when the Obi was departing, cultists and thugs imported into Otulu who were aware of the visit attacked members of the entourage who were at the rear of the convoy.
“The thugs also attempted to forcefully seize a gun belonging to a law enforcement member who escorted the Obi on the visit.
“It is important to note that members of the press accompanied the Obi on the visit.
“Also, law enforcement agents from the office of the Area Commander and the Brigade Command in Asaba were also there at the visit and witnessed everything that happened.
“The people who sponsored the thugs are known to us and will be brought to justice,” the statement said.

A sociopolitical group, Ndigbo United Forum (NUF), has expressed dismay over the hike in fuel price following a strike by Independent Petroleum Marketers over the alleged refusal of the Imo State government to compensate an oil marketer whose filling station was demolished in Orlu by the past Rochas Okorocha’s administration.
In a release by its Board of Trustees Chairman, Chief Chinedu Mba on Saturday, the NUF called on the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) to resolve the lingering fuel crisis in the southeast.
The group vowed that it would mobilize Ndigbo across the five southeastern states and do the unthinkable should the petroleum marketers fail to address the issue and revert to the old status quo of seamless availability of petroleum products, and at the initial price of N165 per litre of fuel.
The NUF warned that the era of kid gloves treatments is over, as it would no longer accept the undeserved wickedness from IPMAN, saying “we have suffered far beyond our elastic limit and any further provocations will be disastrous”.

The Igbo sociopolitical group called on IPMAN to ensure that as from Saturday, Sept 18th, 2021, products must be distributed across all relevant outlets, warning that anyone hoarding products must be made to face the law; such that the positive effect on the people would be instantly felt.
Parts of the release said, “Recall that on September 4th, NUF made a scathing comment on the decision of IPMAN to extend its Imo State chapter misunderstanding with Imo State Government to the other 4 South East States – Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi and Enugu States.
“In our early comment on the IPMAN’s activities in South East, we queried the rationale behind the decision to drag the other 4 states into a matter that was supposed to be an issue with just Imo State branch of IPMAN.

North-West and South-West, the geopolitical zones of the President Muhammadu Buhari  and the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, respectively have the highest number of projects allocated to them among the projects that will be funded with the fresh external loans the President is asking the National Assembly to approve for his government.
Buhari had asked the National Assembly to approve fresh external loans of $4.05bn and €710m for his regime.

He also sought the legislature’s approval for grant components of $125m in the 2018-2020 external rolling borrowing plan.
These were contained in a letter addressed to both chambers of the National Assembly and read by the Senate President, Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, respectively on Tuesday on the floor at the resumption of plenary.
Buhari in the letter, dated August 24, 2021, explained that the projects listed in the 2018-2021 Federal Government Borrowing Plan would be financed through sovereign loans from the World Bank, French Development Agency, EXIM Bank International Fund for Agricultural Development, Credit Suisse Group and Standard Chattered/China Export and Credit in the total sum of $4,054,476,863 and €710m and grant components of $125m.
According to the President, a summary of some key projects in each of the six geopolitical zones that will be funded by the loans and a summary on the expected impacts on the socioeconomic development of each of the six geopolitical zones were attached to the letter.
According to the breakdown obtained exclusively by our correspondent, 13 key projects each to be funded with the loans were listed for the North-West and South-West, making them the geopolitical zones with the highest number of projects.
The President is from Katsina State in the North-West while Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo is from Ogun State in the South-West.
Sources however, noticed that most of the projects that were listed for the two zones are projects that are common to all the geopolitical zones or more than two zones, leaving only one project that is peculiar to the South-West and two that are peculiar to the North-West.
The only project peculiar to the South-West is the Lagos-Ibadan railway modernisation project (Apapa-Tin Can Island Ports Project); while the two that are peculiar to the North-West are the Kaduna Bus Rapid Transport Project and the Kano-Katsina-Jibiya-Maradi Rail Line.
Apart from the North-West and South-West that have 13 projects each, 11 projects each were allocated to the North-Central, North-East and South-East while 10 projects were allocated to the South-South.
Curiously, however, the provision of 17 megawatts hybrid solar power infrastructure for the National Assembly complex which is to be funded with the $62,120,000 to be provided by Standard Chartered Bank/China Export and Credit (SINOSURE) was listed as item 9 for all the six geopolitical zones as beneficiaries.
This is despite the fact that the impact of the project was stated in one of the documents as “to address the National Assembly complex’s power supply deficit and to reduce higher overhead burdensome cost of running and maintaining fossil fuel generators (25 megawatts installed capacity) to power the National Assembly complex.”
Besides the projects peculiar to the geopolitical zones, however, are many others that have all the geopolitical zones as beneficiaries.
They include the $750,000,000 World Bank’s facility for State Fiscal, Transparency, Accountability and Sustainability Programme for Results: the $400,000,000 Nigeria COVID-19 Preparedness and Response Project – Additional Funding; the $700,000,000 Agro-Climatic Resilience in Arid Zone Landscape Project; and the $700,000,000 Nigeria Sustainable Water Supply, Sanitation and Hygiene Project.
Others are the €100,000,000 National Identity Management Project; the $500,000,000 Livestock Productivity and Resilience Support Project; the $276,981,586 three power renewable energy projects and the $200,000,000 Agro-Processing Productivity Enhancement and Livelihood Improvement Support Project, among others.
It can be recalled that five bodies would jointly provide the $4,054,476,863 component of the loan.
They include the World Bank – $3,250,000,000; China Exim Bank – $225,120,000; IFAD- $50,000,00; European ECA/KfW/IPEX/APC -$190,255,276; Bank of China -$276,981,587; and Standard Chartered Bank/China Export and Credit (SINOSURE) – $62,120,000.
The Euro component of €710m will be provided by AFD – €210,000,00 and Credit Sussie Group €500,000,000 while the World Bank will provide the grant components of $125m.
Part of Buhari’s letter to the National Assembly had read, “I write on the above subject and submit the attached addendum to the proposed 2018-2020 external rolling borrowing plan for the consideration and concurrent approval of the Senate for the same to become effective.
“The distinguished Senate President may recall that I submitted a request on the 2018-2020 borrowing plan for the approval of the Senate in May 2021.
“However, in view of other emerging needs and to ensure that all critical projects approved by the Federal Executive Council as of June 2021 are incorporated, I hereby forward an addendum to the proposed borrowing plan.
“The projects listed in the external borrowing plan are to be financed through sovereign loans from the World Bank, French Development Agency, EXIM Bank and IFAD in the total sum of $4,054,476,863 and €710m and grant components of $125m.
“A summary of some key projects in each of the six geopolitical zones and a summary on the expected impacts on the socioeconomic development of each of the six geopolitical zones are attached herewith as Annex II and III.”

 Popular financial website AbokiFX has announced it has temporarily suspended forex rate updates on its platforms, amid accusation by the CBN that it was involved in the manipulation and sabotage of Naira.
In a long statement on its website on Friday, it said the suspension will hold until it gets better clarity of the situation.

AbokiFX was established in 2014 as a research and information service company, to conduct market research and gather data on the parallel market rates.
We also wanted to provide some transparency around the parallel market with the availability of information technology.
abokiFX purely provides benchmark parallel rate information which helps guide our users in almost 200 countries across the world.
abokiFX does NOT TRADE FX, which we have always maintained in our emails and social media platforms.
We do not Trade FX neither do we have the power to manipulate the rates as we DO NOT CREATE the rates.
We are the only entity in Nigeria that has a full set of parallel rates, right from our inception in 2014 when the exchange rate was trading at N166 to $1.
We collated data for years before we started publishing, as we realised the demand increased for our historical data.
To most users of our platforms, we are just a parallel rates board but to many institutions, ranging from IVY league universities, to global businesses and research centres, we are a key source of data, especially, historical data (almost a decade’s worth of data on parallel rates).
Companies use our data for their internal and external audits as well as planning and budgeting.
We ONLY publish what we source on the streets of Lagos, hence the phrase, Lagos Parallel Rates. The rates sourced are carefully collated, reviewed and a mean rate is published from the data pool. This explains our three daily updates – * Morning, ** Midday, ***Evening.
Sometimes, rates come in late but we have to wait for the full set of rates before they are published, to prevent volatility of rates.
None of our data source providers know who we are or what their rates are being used for. This is to avoid any manipulation of rates.
Our staff have a daily routine of going to the market to gather rates, as all the BDCs in the country have their rates clearly displayed on their rates board and parallel market rate dealers give the information away freely.
All we do is collate all that information and display it on all our platforms daily.
 
REPLAY OF 2017 vs 2021
In 2017, Nigeria experienced an FX crises and the Naira depreciated to over N500/$1. abokiFX was accused of manipulating the parallel market rates.
Once liquidity was injected, the Naira appreciated and we published the appreciation which is basically what we do.
2021 has seen a similar scenario with the naira depreciating and we have published what we have been given, which has led some to believe we are manipulating the market. Yet no one can complain about our rates deviating +/- 2% from the parallel market rates when they patronise the dealers in the market.
If we do not create the rates, how then can we control the rates. Our only sources of income have been our API and advert sales.
 
ALLEGATIONS AGAINST OUR DIRECTOR
All allegations against our director are yet to be confirmed but we at abokiFX DO NOT trade FX neither do we manipulate parallel market rates.
Outside the media allegation, we have not received any communication from any government body and our accounts are not closed as stipulated in the media.
 
WAY FORWARD
abokiFX is fully functional BUT we will not be publishing any form of rates on our platforms for now.
We sincerely hope this suspension will lead to the Naira appreciation from next week.
With our decision to temporarily suspend online rate publication, we are aware that there will be limited visibility of parallel rates information which will impact decision making for many.

The Supreme Court has yet to fix a date for the hearing of the appeal filed by the Rivers State Government challenging the order of the Court of Appeal, which directed parties to maintain status quo in the dispute over the right authority to collect Value Added Tax in the state.
<a name='more' id="more"></a>The Federal Inland Revenue Service had approached the Court of Appeal in Abuja to challenge the judgement of the Federal High Court in Rivers State which ruled on August 9 that the state, and not the FIRS, should be the authority collecting VAT and Personal Income Tax in the state.
The Court of Appeal had on September 10 ruled that the parties in the suit should maintain status quo. On Thursday, however, the Appeal Court also said it reserved ruling on the application for a joinder filed by the Lagos State Government.
It can be recalled that the Rivers State Government had approached the Supreme Court of Nigeria to challenge the ruling of the Court of Appeal that the parties should maintain status quo.
The counsel for the Rivers State Government on the matter, Ifedayo Adedipe (SAN), told newsmen on Friday that they had just filed their processes at the apex court and had yet to be given a date.
“No date yet,” he said. “We just filed (the appeal). We need to settle records. When we have done that, they will give us a date.”
In the notice of appeal, the Rivers State Government argued among others that the “Justices of the Court of Appeal erred in law when they relied on the provisions of Section 6(6) of the constitution and the inherent jurisdiction of the court to found their decision to make an order to maintain status quo which they identified as restoring the parties to the position they were before the judgment of the Federal High Court in FHC/PH/CS/149/2020 was delivered on August 9, 2021.”
Rivers State also argued that “the learned Justices of the Court of Appeal erred in law when they wrongly assumed jurisdiction to entertain the oral application for maintenance of status quo made by the Counsel for the Federal Inland Revenue Service (the 1st Respondent herein) in spite of the fact that a condition precedent to the invocation of the jurisdiction of the Court of Appeal was not fulfilled by the 1st Respondent.”
It also alleged that the justices of the Court of Appeal erred in law and breached Rivers State’s right to fair hearing when they entertained a vague oral application for maintenance of status quo and went ahead to make far-reaching orders.

Kano state governor, Umar Ganduje, visited APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, in London on Thursday, September 16.
Bola Tinubu has spent over 70 days in the United Kingdom.
Within this period, he has been visited by President Muhammadu Buhari, Muiz Banire, and the former governor of Borno state, Kashim Shettima.

Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate, Queen, broke down in tears when she discovered that her pet fish, Green, has died.
After workout on Friday morning, day 55 of the show, Queen met the lifeless body of her fish in its glass bowl. She shook the bowl hoping for a miracle but sadly, her fish did not stir.
Queen blamed herself stating that she should have change its water but Angel consoled her, stating that the water was not the cause of Green’s death.
Other housemates came around to console Queen who was clearly distraught and saddened by the sudden death of her pet.

Queen bowed her head and started crying while Cross and Angel gave her friendly pats to console her. Queen later left the fining area and moved to the toilet, where she continue crying.
The death of Green comes a day after the death of Cross’s pet fish and Saskay wondered if the life span of their pet fishes was being cut short.
After the result for the Johnnie Walker task was announced on Thursday night, Cross was asked to take his dead fish into the store and in the process, Cross shared a few words with the fish.
He said, “I don’t know if I was a good father but I did love you. So take care of yourself, okay? Till we meet in heaven.”

Nini has always been vocal about her relationship, and has turned down Saga’s overtures.
Speaking to Saskay and Yousef in the garden in the early hours of Friday, Nini said she’s yet to get married because she’s scared.
According to her, although she has been in a serious relationship, the thought of marriage scares her.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN) has directed its members to withdraw their services from the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) loading depot in Enugu.
The National President of IPMAN, Alhaji Sanusi Fari, who disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, in Enugu, added that the directive was in response to an alleged attack and invasion of the IPMAN secretariat in the Enugu depot, on Thursday, by men of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF).
The President said that the invasion and attack were carried out with impunity and against a subsisting court order.
“Sequel to this ugly development, the National Executive Committee of IPMAN has resolved and directed the withdrawal of our services at Enugu loading depot with immediate effect.

“This will stop our services to members of the public in Enugu, Anambra, and Ebonyi from Sept. 17 until the police illegality is reversed,” Fari said.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Enugu Command, ASP Daniel Ndukwe, denied that operatives of the command blockaded or attacked the IPMAN secretariat in Enugu.
Rather, Ndukwe said that detectives from the Force Criminal Investigation Department (CID), Abuja, were on an investigation trip to the IPMAN office to serve the association’s members’ invitation over a court matter.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalled that the South-East had been grappling with an acute shortage of petroleum products, following a strike by petroleum tanker drivers in the area.
The situation had increased the price of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in the area as a litre currently sells between N250 and N300 in most petrol stations.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday secured the conviction of three fraudsters charged for cheating, attempted cheating and internet fraud.
The convicts are Ayinde Qudus Olayemi, Ademola Samuel and Abdulazeez Faruk.
Justice Sikiru Oyinloye of the Kwara State High Court in Ilorin convicted and sentenced the defendants to various jail terms.
Ayinde, Ademola and Abdulazeez, arraigned on separate charges, pleaded guilty to their charges.

Sesan Ola, Innocent Mbachie and Rasheedat Alao prosecuted the case for the EFCC.
They drew the attention of the court to the plea bargain agreements entered by the defendants and tendered their confessional statements and other incriminating items.
Justice Oyinloye held that the prosecution proved its case beyond reasonable doubt.
Ayinde was sentenced to one year imprisonment on count one with option of fine of N100,000; one year imprisonment on count two with option of fine N300,000, and one year imprisonment on count three with option of fine of N300,000.
Ayinde’s IPhone 12 pro max used in perpetrating the crime and the manager’s cheque (bank draft) of N450,000, which he raised as restitution to his victims, will be forfeited to the Federal Government.
Ademola got one year imprisonment on count one with option of fine of N200,000, and one year imprisonment on count two with option of fine of N300,000.
His iPhone 11 pro, a black laptop used to perpetrate the crime and a bank draft of N215,000, raised as restitution to his victims, will be forfeited to the Federal Government.
Abdulazeez was sentenced to one year imprisonment with an option of fine of N350,000.
The judge ordered that the convict’s gold iPhone used to perpetrate the crime and $326 he benefited from the crime be forfeited to the Federal Government.

Rudiger is attracting interest from Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Juventus.

And if there is no resolution by January 1, Granovskaia will put Rudiger up for sale.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, has disclosed how President Muhammadu Buhari reacted to his decision to join the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Fani-Kayode disclosed that Buhari was delighted with his decision to join the ruling party.
He said the President expressed his delight during a meeting at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, yesterday.
Recall that the former minister officially dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for APC yesterday.

He was presented to the President by APC acting Chairman, Mala Mai Buni.
Fani-Kayode, in a series of tweets of Friday wrote: “It was an honor and a privilage to visit President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Aso Rock, yesterday in the company of my dear friends and brothers, Governor Mala Mai-Buni and Governor Bello Matawalle.
“Mr. President received us very warmly and we had an excellent meeting. I intimated him of my decision to join the APC and he was delighted with the news.
“Now we move forward together to make our country a better place and to bring peace, love and stability to our shores. God bless Nigeria.”
The former PDP chieftain was a staunch critic of Buhari, his government and the APC.

A former Aviation Minister, Femi Fani-Kayode has hinted at the possibility of the governors of Bauchi, Enugu and Oyo States defecting from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Fani-Kayode made the claim while speaking to newsmen after he was presented to President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday, by the Chairman, Caretaker/Extraordinary National Convention Planning Committee of the APC, Governor Mai Mala Buni.
When asked whether he had friends from the PDP following him into the APC, he said, “Now, if you don’t mind me mentioning names, somebody like the governor of Enugu State, the governor of Oyo State, and my good friend, the governor of Bauchi State, great friends of mine, and I sincerely hope that they too may end up coming in this direction.
“But whether they do or not, the most important thing is that we work together as a people and move our country together and fight the terrorists and put to shame the foreign elements.

He said, “I spoke against Buhari from the outside, now I know him from the inside. I am not saying he is an angel or a demon. The APC I was taking about that time is not same today. Let’s focus on unity, peace and togetherness.
“There is a time to condemn and criticise people. There is also a time to come together, work together to achieve unity.”
Though Fani-Kayode criticised Musiliu Obanikoro and others who defected earlier, his postiion has now changed.
Responding to a question on his comment that he would rather die than join APC, the lawyer said, “Joining APC now is the away forward, despite what people may think about it.
“APC is a liberal party. A lot has happened in APC over the years. The party has changed and President has accommodated the change. Had the APC leadership not changed I wouldn’t have joined them.
“I am doing the right thing based on conviction and understanding. This is the right decision for me, love me or hate me, it will not take anything away from me.
Before joining APC, Fani-Kayode is one of the outspoken oppositions in the country and he was a spokesperson for his former party, Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign.
It can be recalled that Buhari formally received Fani-Kayode, who recently defected from the PDP to APC.
Kayode was led into the President’s office by the Caretaker Chairman of the APC and Governor of Yobe, Mai-Mala Buni, as well as Governor Bello Matawalle of Zamfara.

Soldiers have neutralized an unspecified number of bandits in Maiha, a town and local government area in Adamawa State.
Maiha lies in the northern part of the state is one of seven local government areas which fell to the control of Boko Haram terrorists in 2014, and indications are that bandits may be out to force their activities on the place.
Senior Special Assistant to the Maiha Council Chairman on Media and Publicity, Abdulganiyu Pakka, who disclosed the military action against the bandits, said three grenade bombs were also recovered from the bandits.
He said this was after the soldiers went after the bandits in some villages of Maiha LGA.

The Maiha Council Chairman, Dr Idi Ali, commended the security agents for acting against the bandits.
He advised the citizens to be conscious of the people they meet and report suspicious persons to the relevant security agencies.
The advice came in light of the apparent presence of bandits in the LGA and against the growing public impression that some bandits escaping from Zamfara State are coming into Maiha.

Minister for Works and Housing Mr Babatunde Fashola has hinted that for the Lagos/Sango Ota road to be ready its will need the sum of N56 billion for its completion.
The minister during an inspection of the ongoing construction of Toll Plaza at Lotto, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway said the Lagos-Ota road, inherited from the previous administration, was first awarded in 2000 with the contract sum of N6 billion and that now government needed the sum of N56bn for its completion.
He said though work started and was completed on the Lagos end of the road, the bridge head at Ota had been in deplorable condition for sometimes now, pledging that FERMA has been saddle with the responsibility of fixing the fail portions of the road.
On the Ota- Idi-Iroko road, the Minister said measurements, designs and office work were going on just as the State government was committed to clearing the road for construction of gutters to commence.

While sympathising with those who ply the road, Fashola said government needed the support of lawmakers in making funds available for infrastructural development in the country.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, in his remark revealed that palliative works would soon commence on the bad portions of the Lagos-Ota and Ota-Idi-Iroko roads, and to be concluded by December.
Abiodun stated that the palliatives which would be done by December, was to reduce the hardship being experienced by commuters along the roads.
He, however, revealed that the failed portions, which would be reconstructed by the Federal Road Maintenance Agency (FERMA) would cost N13.4bn and would be part of the N56bn revived contract sum.
“In the meantime, the Minister has graciously instructed that FERMA fixed those places and immediately begin to carry out palliative works on that road.
“We have given the commitment that we will relocate traders; we will control and manage traffic, whatever that it is we need to do, we will ensure that we begin to bring succour and needed relief to our people.
“The state of that road today is pitiable. I went on that road myself and I felt bad for our citizens, however like the Minister has explained, we have decided to find a fasttrack solution and I must thank the Minister. He has graciously decided to extract those failed portion, those very terrible portions, not just at the old Toll Gate but about two kilometres of all the failed portions along the length of that road up to Abeokuta.
“They’ve identified those portions, they are costing them right now, they are extracting them from the main contract, they have costed them to be about N13.4 billion. He is going to find money using SUKUK bond to pay the contractors so they can focus on those places, not just rehabilitating them, but actually reconstructing them so that when the rest of the road construction commences, they will just commence and compliment those ones, so that is what is being planned,” he said.

In reaction to the killing of nine residents of Buhari Village in Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State on Wednesday morning, the Nigerian Air Force has denied carrying out any operations in the said area in the past ten days.
The spokesperson of the Air Force, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet, in a press statement said the claim that a NAF jet bombarded Buhari village and killed about ten people while injuring many others is false in its entirety.
“This tweet is false in its entirety. The NAF last conducted a mission in Yobe State (not Yunusari LGA) on September 5, 2021, and it was an armed recce. No bomb or missile was even expended,” the statement reads. 
Moreso, another Air Force officer who spoke to newsmen on the condition of anonymity revealed that the Nigerian Air Force has commenced investigation on the incident.

“The NAF is conducting an investigation on the alleged airstrike on ISWAP’s location which killed some residents and left many, including women and children injured in Garin, Buhari in Yunusari Local Government area of Yobe State,” the officer noted.
The source stated further that though he is aware the military has successfully bombarded locations suspected to be harbouring the terrorists recently in that axis, he cannot ascertain if any civilian population was affected in the cause of the operation.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has said it would welcome former President Goodluck Jonathan if he decides to join the party.
APC’s National Secretary, Senator John Akpanudoedehe, stated this during his appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Wednesday night.
Akpanudoedehe said Jonathan, like every other new entrant, would be accorded rights and privileges extended to all members irrespective of the date they joined.
He stated this in response to a question on if there was any truth in speculations that the party was wooing Jonathan to join and become its presidential candidate in the 2023 general elections.

“I don’t want to speculate. Everyone is allowed to join the APC, we welcome everyone who wants to join. We are getting stronger in terms of our progressive agenda. I’m hearing that for the first time, if he comes, we will welcome him, that will be great news.
“The last National Executive Committee meeting gave a blanket approval to everyone who wants to join the party and anyone who joins the party has the right to aspire for any office,” Akpanudoedehe said.
Akpanudoedehe also said APC was expecting more governors from the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to join before December.

No fewer than 21 suspects have been arrested by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Ogun State Command.
The agency said the State had turned a dumping ground for drugs.
They were arrested within one month for drug-related offences in the Gateway State.
The NDLEA Assistant Commander, Drug Demand Reduction in Ogun, Eucharia Ekwu, also confirmed the seizure of 700 kilogrammes of cannabis within the period under review.

Speaking at the command headquarters in Abeokuta, Ekwu disclosed that the seizures were between August and September 14, 2021.
According to her, 28.59 grams of Methamphetamine, 360 tablets of molly, 13.65g of crack, 279 bottles of codeine and 1,400 tablets of a psychotropic substance were also seized by the agency during the time.
Ekwu lamented that Ogun State, being a state with many entries into other states and the Republic of Benin, had “become a dumping ground for drugs.”
She added that 18 men and three women were arrested, hinting that the majority of those engaging in drugs were students in secondary schools and higher learning institutions.
“When you have a state with the highest population of students in secondary schools and tertiary institutions, you are bound to have a lot of drug users,” she added.
Meanwhile, the NDLEA has called for more cooperation from the public in carrying out its operations.
“We need more logistics and we need more cooperation from members of the public,” she stated.

In a series of tweets, Omokri accused Buhari of using the foreign loans on alleged useless things like building a Naval base in a desert in Kano State.
He wrote: “A new $4 billion loan. What is Buhari even using all these loans for? Useless things like Naval Base in Kano’s desert and sewing Igbo trousers that never reach the ankle. What has this nation called Nigeria done to deserve this enemy of progress?

Buhari had on Tuesday asked the Senate to approve $4 billion and €710 million external loans.
The president’s request was contained in a letter addressed to Senate President Ahmad Lawan and read at plenary yesterday.
Buhari said the proposed loan would be financed through sovereign loans from the World Bank, French Development Agency, EXIM Bank and IFAD.
Buhari noted that the loan, if approved, would enable the Federal Government fund critical infrastructural projects in different sectors across the country.

Enyimba FC on Wednesday unveiled former Nigeria international, Finidi George, as their new head coach.
In a social media post, the club confirmed the appointment with a bit of excitement in the caption, “How great is it to have a legend as an Elephant”.
George has put pen to paper on a two-year contract with the Aba side.
He replaces Fatai Osho whose contract expired at the end of August.

Strong indications emerged on Tuesday that a former governor of Ekiti State, Mr Ayo Fayose, is being prodded by some leaders in the Peoples Democratic Party, to join the race for the party’s national chairmanship.
An aide to the governor who spoke on condition of anonymity stated that the party’s chieftains who are members of the northern caucus visited the Lagos residence of the ex-governor twice within two weeks to persuade him. He, however, didn’t give details about the matter.
The South-West PDP appears to be bracing up to produce the party’s national chairman which it hasn’t occupied since the establishment of the party.
The zone is now more determined following the bickering between the Rivers State governor, Nyesom Wike, and the embattled chairman of the party, Prince Uche Secondus, who the former supported into office.

The term of the Secondus-led National Working Committee officially ends in December, 2019.
When contacted, Fayose neither confirmed nor denied the development. He insisted that the position had yet to be zoned to the South-West.
Fayose said, “The position has yet been zoned to the South-West. Even if it’s zoned, for the benefits of our people in the South-West, we have to do due diligence. It’s not about contesting but making a success of the office.
“I understand there are other people interested in the position. They are also eligible and competent. But wherever the South-West goes is where I will go. I will follow the South-West. “Wherever the Yoruba go when the chairmanship position of our party is zoned to the South-West is where I will go. It will not be a do-or-die affair.  That’s all I can say for now. “
Earlier, a PDP group, Alliance for PDP South-West, has listed 11 aspirants from zone for the position and the list included a former Osun State Governor, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola, ex-Ondo State PDP governorship candidate, Eyitayo Jegede (SAN), Fayose among others.
Although the party’s constitution allowed a national chairman to serve for four years, in the party’s history, none of its national chairmen has served four years.

Popular singer Iyanya who was recently appointed a Senior Special Assistant in Cross River has revealed he is in search for a wife not a girlfriend.
He said this on Tuesday during an interview with Hip TV as he debunked rumors that he is married already.
“I am not married. I’m searching o for a wife not a girlfriend. That’s where we at.”
Iyanya however, did not disclose if he is in any relationship at the moment.

The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Benin, Prof. Lilian Salami, has announced the immediate closure of the University following the protest that rocked the institution on Tuesday, the News Agency of Nigeria reports.
Yesterday, students of the institution blocked the ever-busy Benin-Lagos Expressway and the Ekheuan Road over a N20,000 late registration fee imposed by the school authority.
The students described this decision as unpleasant particularly amidst the “unfavourable economic situation’’ in the country.
In a statement issued by the Registrar of the institution, Mr Ademola Bobola, Salami ordered all students to vacate their hostels and the University premises no later than noon on Wednesday.

“The Vice-Chancellor has reviewed the agitation by a section of the students’ body on Tuesday. After due consultation and in the overall interest of the general students’ body, the Vice-Chancellor has, on behalf of the Senate, approved the closure of the University with immediate effect.
“This is based on security reports to avoid the students’ action being hijacked by hoodlums, and thereby prevent any form of breakdown of law and order within and outside the campuses of the University,’’ the statement read.

Boko Haram terrorists are fleeing from Sambisa forest to Rijana Forest in the Chikun local government area of Kaduna State, according to a leaked memo.
In the memo marked NSCDC/NHQ/INT&INVST/323/2021 dated September 9, 2021 and signed by the Acting Deputy Commandant-General of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Intelligence and Investigation, B.O Bassey, civil defence officers were asked to be on the alert.
According to the document titled, ‘Re: Update on Relocation of Boko Haram Terrorist (BHTs) to Rijana General Area in Kaduna State’, the terrorists are planning to team up with one Adamu Yunusu aka Saddiqu and his supporters.
The memo read in part, “Sequel to a memo dated September 2, 2021 received from the Ministry of Interior on the above subject matter, upon an intelligence report from the Office of the Director-General, Department of State Services, National Headquarters, Abuja, dated August 20, 2021 with reference no S.314/31/B/2915.

“It has been uncovered, plans by senior Boko Haram fighter, Ibrahim (FNU) alongside his foot soldiers relocating from ‘Sambisa Forest in Borno State to Rijana Forest in Chikun local government area of Kaduna State with a view to joining their counterpart under the leadership of one Adamu Yunusu (aka Saddiqu).
“In light of the above, you are hereby directed to step up surveillance and intelligence gathering on the aforementioned areas and environs.”
Chikun Local Government Area in Kaduna State is a Christian dominated area which could make it a soft target for terrorists.
Kaduna, which borders Zamfara State, has witnessed a spike in killings and abductions in 2021 with over 545 persons killed and 1, 723 kidnapped between January and June.

Lagos Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu has confirmed Bolaji Oreagba as General Manager of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA).
Head of Service, Hakeem Muri-Okunola announced the appointment in a statement on Tuesday.
The HoS said Oreagba is expected to ensure efficient and effective traffic management on Lagos roads.
The new GM, a Deputy Controller (Traffic), joined the State Public Service on the 8th December 1993 and rose through the ranks to become LASTMA Director of Operations.

Oreagba holds a Master’s Degree in Transport Planning & Management and attended capacity-building programmes on inter-modal traffic management systems locally and internationally.
Muri-Okunola charged him to justify the elevation and use his experience to take the agency to greater heights.
The HoS thanked the outgoing General Manager, Olajide Oduyoye for his dedication to duty and service to Lagos.

Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodinma has taken steps towards recovering lands and properties illegally appropriated or acquired by previous administrations.
To achieve this, Uzodinma has inaugurated the implementation committee of White Paper on Lands and Other Related Matters.
The Committee, according to Uzodinma, would work towards recovering assets recommended by the state’s Judicial Commission of Inquiry.
Uzodinma, while speaking during the inauguration, said: “Your primary duties are to recover for Imo people all the assets gazetted in the White paper as set out in the recommendations of the Commission.”

He said the inauguration had amplified his Government’s mantras of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Recovery.
“The White-paper on lands and related matters is unambiguous – it is now an established legal fact that lands and properties belonging to both the Government and the people were illegally acquired or appropriated.
“This is so because all such illegal acquisitions were identified by the Judicial Commission of Inquiry. Government accepted these recommendations and thereabout issued a White paper,” he said.
The Chairman of the Committee, Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie commended the Governor for the rare privilege, which is the first of its kind of assignment.
Members of the implementation committee include: Prof. Ukachukwu Awuzie -Chairman, Barr. Martin Iwuegbu, Chief H.N Ndi Duroha, Chief John Onyenze, Engr. Lady Mrs. Uchenna Onyeiwu Uba, and Chief Godwin Nwadike.
Just recently, the state government had recently seized some properties of former Governor of the State, Rochas Okorocha.
Okorocha, however, is challenging the Imo State government in court over the action.

Pastor David Yonggi Cho, a cofounder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church (Assemblies of God) in South Korea is dead.
The popular minister of the gospel died on Tuesday morning at the age of 85 after battling with complications from a stroke.
Prior to the emergence of Glory Dome in Abuja, owned by the Dunamis Church International Gospel Centre, Pastor Yonggi Cho had the highest church auditorium in the world.
Prophet Joshua Iginla who confirmed the death via a post on his verified Facebook page on Tuesday, refered to Younggi Cho, who was regarded as God’s General, as his spiritual father.

Iginla, who expressed sadness over the demise, described the deceased as a “generational icon, trailblazer, pathfinder and a man wrapped in the immortality of God”.
The post reads, “Death is nothing else but going home to God, the bond of love will be unbroken for all eternity for your warm embrace as a true father who gave me wings to fly limitlessly.
“A South Korean yet spiritually available to father me regardless of tribe, distance and country. Your wisdom, teaching and instructions will abide with me forever.
“One may think with the millions of congregation under your care you may not be available for mentorship but that was never the case with you Dear Father, you could identify the few chosen among the thousands that were called and you mentored through every available means. Oh father my heart bleeds but I know some day we will meet and not part again at the feet of our Heavenly Father.
“In the channels of Divinity, mankind is a creature of Divine appointment (Job 7:1). Yet, men wrapped in the immortality of God don’t die, they only transit to another realm of GLORY. On this day, my spiritual father, a generational icon, trailblazer, pathfinder and a man wrapped in the immortality of God, in the person of PASTOR PAUL YONGI CHO has answered to his GLORIOUS HOME CALL.
“I will forever miss you Daddy, the world can never recover from the supernatural handwritings of your Divine impact and impartation. Myself and the entire family of CHAMPIONS ROYAL ASSEMBLY celebrate your life well lived to the Glory of God.
“You have fought a good fight and will forever be in my heart. REST IN PEACE DAVID YOUNGGI CHO”.
