Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has been accused of destroying the State beyond repairs.
Deji Adeyanju, convener of Concerned Nigeria, said Kogi State is the worst state in Nigeria under Bello’s leadership.
The rights activist claimed the Bello’s government cannot account for the over N250 billion collected from IGR, FAAC, and loans.
In a tweet, Adeyanju alleged that Bello was making efforts to sell off the state’s assets.

According to Adeyanju: “At 30 years, Kogi State is the worst governed state in Nigeria.
“Yahaya Bello has destroyed the state beyond recognition.
“Over N250 billion collected from IGR, FAAC, loans, etc unaccounted for. He now wants to start selling state assets.”
Adeyanju, who had always been critical of Bello said the governor should not be allowed to govern hellfire, let alone Nigeria.
He had described Bello as a complete failure.

Member of the House of Representatives from Plateau State in the All Progressives Congress (APC), Yusuf Gagdi, has called out President Muhammadu Buhari for the worsening security situation in Nigeria.
The Representative from Plateau State in the All Progressives Congress (APC) noted that the recent upsurge in insecurity in the country resulted from the inability of the Buhari regime to deal decisively with factors indicative of rising animosity in the country, mutual suspicion and religious frontlines.
Yusuf who heads the House Committee on Navy, in an open letter to President Muhammadu Buhari recalled that on the 29th day of May 2015, the President resurrected the hope and optimism of bringing back robust economic transformation devoid of corruption and free from insecurity via his three-point agenda when he spoke highly about defending and protecting the constitution.
According to the lawmaker, “By simple reflection, you swore to uphold the primary responsibility of Government as enshrined in Section 14(b) thus the security and welfare of the people shall be the primary purpose of government.”

He lamented that President Muhammadu Buhari declared explicitly that equitable and efficient strategies would be adopted by all the machinery of Government to end the wanton destructions of lives and property particularly those associated with the activities of Boko Haram which hitherto had extended beyond the North East to the North Central and other parts of Nigeria.
He regretted, “However, your Excellency, about six years down the line and having secured a second term mandate from Nigerians, it is heart-wrenching to note that insecurity has worsened in the country, leading to interrogative concerns by people.”
Yusuf Gagdi wondered what becomes of the value of food if farms are not safe for agriculture to thrive, asking on what is the significance of infrastructure devoid of security.
He observed that the issue of insecurity has reached a point where the current strategies being adopted by the President’s administration have failed and are in no way adequate to guarantee safety.
He added that they can no longer hold water in a cup let alone in a basket.
According to him, the gaps are becoming wider by the day with serious concerns such as the plight of many school children still in the den of bandits, adding that brazen daylight attacks on communities and travelers have become almost unabated.
He lamented the recent shameful raid on the highly fortified Nigeria Defence Academy, Kaduna, noting that the metropolitan attacks in Jos, Plateau State among others, have heightened fears of insecurity in Nigeria.
The lawmaker observed that the recent merger of command and control of the special military Operations in Plateau State extending to parts of Kaduna State, and Taraba State code named Operations Safe Haven with the office of the General Officer Commanding 3rd Armoured Division, Rukuba, Jos has failed to yield the desired results when compared to the successes recorded during the pre-merger period.
He decried, “The unjust amnesty to repentant Boko Haram fighters under Operation Safe Corridor policy even when many displaced Nigerians have not been adequately rehabilitated and reintegrated in their homeland is torturing to the psyche of many Nigerians.”

French President Emmanuel Macron warned of the threat the Islamic State group poses ahead of an Iraqi summit Saturday overshadowed by the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan and a deadly bombing in Kabul.
Organisers have been tight-lipped on the agenda of the summit in Baghdad, but the meeting also comes as Iraq, long a casualty of jihadist militancy, tries to establish itself as a mediator between Arab countries and Iran.
“We all know that we must not lower our guard, because Daesh remains a threat, and I know that the fight against these terrorist groups is a priority of your government,” Macron said, after a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister Mustafa al-Kadhemi in Baghdad.
Iraq and France “are key partners in the war against terrorism,” Kadhemi replied.

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Jordan’s King Abdullah II are due at the summit, while the foreign ministers of regional foes Iran and Saudi Arabia will also be present.
The prime minister of the United Arab Emirates, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum, as well as Kuwait’s Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid Al-Sabah, are also expected to attend.
Iraq is seeking to play a “unifying role” to tackle crises shaking the region, sources close to Iraq’s Kadhemi have said.
Oil-rich Iraq has been caught for years in a delicate balancing act between its two main allies, Iran and the United States.
Iran exerts major clout in Iraq through allied armed groups within the Hashed al-Shaabi, a powerful state-sponsored paramilitary network.
Baghdad has been brokering talks since April between US ally Riyadh and Tehran on mending ties severed in 2016.
Macron aims to highlight France’s role in the region and its determination to press the fight against terrorism, his office said.
The French president considers Iraq “essential” to stability in the troubled Middle East, it added.
An IS affiliate claimed Thursday’s suicide bombing in Kabul that killed scores of people, including 13 US service members.
The attack has revived global concerns that the extremist organisation, which seized swathes of Syria and Iraq before being routed from both countries, is emerging anew, analysts said.
The blast came during the final days of US-led evacuations from Afghanistan after the Taliban’s lightning takeover.
“These events show that it has become more urgent than ever to back the political process in Iraq and involve its neighbours,” a source close to Macron said.
“A solution to security threats in the region, including Daesh, depends on a stable, sovereign and prosperous Iraq,” the source added.
A decade after the 2003 US-led invasion that ousted dictator Saddam Hussein, IS in June 2014 announced a “caliphate” in territory seized in Syria and Iraq, routing the badly prepared Iraqi army without a fight and seizing almost a third of the country.
France was part of a US-led coalition established to battle the extremists.
Iraq declared IS territorially defeated in December 2017, but the group still retains sleeper cells and continues to claim bloody attacks.
One of the deadliest was a July bombing that ripped through a crowded Baghdad market, killing over 30 people on the eve of a key Muslim holiday.
According to Colin Clarke, senior research fellow at the Soufan Center, IS “still has access to tens of millions of dollars and will likely continue to rebuild its network throughout Iraq and Syria”.
Its “primary goal at the moment is to have its affiliates maintain momentum until it can sufficiently rebuild its core in the Levant,” he said.
“(IS) affiliates in sub-Saharan Africa and now Afghanistan will have the opportunity to make strides in the coming year.”
In July, President Joe Biden said US combat operations in Iraq would end this year, but that US soldiers would continue to train, advise and support the country’s military in the fight against IS.
Washington currently has 2,500 troops deployed to Iraq.
Rasha Al Aqeedi, senior analyst at Newlines Institute for Strategy and Policy, said coalition forces believed Iraq’s security personnel could prevent another IS advance.
“Maybe they’re not ideal, but they’re good enough for America to leave the country believing that Iraq is not going to live through another 2014,” she said.

Lagos Government says it has evacuated a three-week-old baby, the mother and undergraduate students of the state’s extraction studying at the University of Jos from Plateau.
The evacuation became necessary following recent attacks and killings in the state.
The first set of evacuees, comprising 64 UNIJOS students, the three-week-old-baby, and its mother, Manya Banfe, a 200-Level student, arrived in Lagos on Friday afternoon.
Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Gbenga Omotoso, said that the evacuation showed that government had the capacity to respond to emergencies when they affected people of the state.

Omotoso represented Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the reception for the evacuees,
He said that the exercise was in line with government’s commitment to safety and security of indigenes and residents of the state.
Omotoso added that welfare packages had been arranged for the students to return to their families safely, stressing that it was noteworthy that none of the Lagos State students died during the crisis and during the rescue operation.
He urged them to observe COVID-19 safety protocols and not to lose touch with their studies as they returned to Lagos.
Also speaking, the Permanent Secretary of Office of the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Mr Kasali Adeniran, said that the evacuation was another landmark achievement of the state government.
The students who were so excited to have been evacuated from crises scenes in Plateau State thanked Gov. Sanwo-Olu and his officials for rescuing them from what they described as “war zone’’.
Speaking on behalf of the students, a 200-level student of the Department of Religion and Philosophy, Clinton Shotikare, thanked the governor for coming to their rescue.
“On behalf of other students, I am saying a big thank you to the Lagos State Government, especially the governor of Lagos State, Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu.
“We appreciate the governor and the state government for evacuating us from Plateau State. We feel happy, honoured, grateful and safe. We feel the impact of government,’’’ Shotikare said.
He said that they had been experiencing tense situations and sleepless nights since the beginning of the crises in Plateau.
The student urged the Lagos State Government not to relent in its efforts to rescuing other Lagos State indigenes, especially students who were still stranded on campus and in towns.
A student of the Department of Pharmacy, UNIJOS, Christiana Edward, also appreciated Gov. Sanwo-Olu for evacuating them from Jos.
“I am really grateful for what Lagos State Government has done for us. We are so thankful. Some of us had even lost hope when 24 hours curfew was declared in Plateau State. But Lagos State governor came to our rescue and evacuated us from Jos.
“We, the students of University of Jos really appreciate Lagos State Government. We appreciate Gov. Sanwo-Olu for his goodwill and hard work at ensuring our safe arrival to our friends, families and loved ones.
“We pray that God will continue to bless and strengthen you,’’ Edward said.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), Gen. Lucky Irabor says the Armed Forces of Nigeria (AFN) is reviewing its operational engagements.
Irabor made the disclosure at the 6th edition of his security parley with military veterans in Asaba, Delta State.
The meeting, tagged “CDS Interactive Session with Retired Senior Military Officers in the South-South Geo-political zone,”/was attended by top retired officers.
The CDS said the consultation, which began in the South-West, has been impactful and will be continuous.

Irabor noted that the operations DELTA SAFE, in synergy with other internal security arrangement, are recording successes against illegal oil bunkering, piracy, among others.
The Defence chief said other engagements are holding behind the scene.
“There is non-kinetic approach which forms part of the engagement that is focused on the holistic solutions to the challenges in the Niger Delta region,” he added.
Chief of Defence Civil Military Cooperation, Rear Adm. Fredrick Ogu, said the retired officers were in a better position to offer professional counsel on security threats.

Governor Samuel Ortom says the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, is currently re-establishing itself fully to recapture power at the national level in the 2023 general elections.
Governor Ortom spoke to journalists on Friday at the Makurdi Airport shortly on arrival from Abuja where he attended a PDP Governors Forum meeting.
He explained that the series of meetings they had held in Abuja and other parts of the country were to resolve their internal wranglings and rebuild confidence in Nigerians to accept the party’s capacity to lead the country.
He told journalists that there would be a National Executive Committee meeting of the party tomorrow which is expected to, among other things, draw up programmes that could ensure success of the National convention scheduled to hold at the end of October this year.

Governor Ortom said PDP has concluded arrangements to also complete its congresses from various states of the federation before the convention, stressing that at the last meeting, there was an acting National chairman of the party that presided over the meeting.

A group, Southern Nigeria Youth Assembly (SNYA), Imo State chapter, has called on the ruling All Progress Congress, APC , opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, and other political parties in the country to zone their presidential ticket to the Southern region for the sake of equity and fairness.
The group made this call on Friday during the inauguration of their state executive in Owerri, the Imo State capital.
Speaking on behalf of the group, the Coordinator of SNYA in the state, Barr Stephen Nnadi, maintained that since the north has taken her turn with Late Alhaji Musa Yar Aduà and the incumbent President Muhammadu Buhàri respectively, there is need for all parties to cede their tickets to the south as part of efforts to continue to sustain the unity of the country.
Nnadi further stressed the need for all hands to be on deck to put Nigeria on the right perspective by shunning greed, wickedness and selfish political dominance against others if the country can remain indivisible.

SNYA expressed optimism that once the decision is adhered to by political parties, it will be capable of nipping in the bud all security lapses and agitations across Nigeria over power shift.
It advised politicians not to allow selfishness and personal gains to divide the nation, pointing out that until they rise up to defend the truth, some of the country’s internal problems will remain unsolved.
The group, therefore, challenged them to think of the way forward for the country by recognizing the rights of every component region.

Fr Kelvin Ugwu, a Nigerian Catholic Priest serving in Malawi has lambasted the Nigerian government over its inability to curtail the security crisis currently rocking the entire nation.
In a statement on his verified Facebook page, the popular young priest while reacting to the incessant killings, abductions and other criminal activities bedeviling the country, said the cooperate existence of the Nigeria was threatened.
The man of God who slammed the Federal Government over the detention of the Southeast secessionist, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu in the custody of the Department of State Services, called for his release, stressing that more separatists are needed for the disintegration of the country.
According to him, “when I watch the level of decay, the killings of innocent people, the nepotism, the terrorism, the kidnapping. And the fact that all these menaces seemed to have become normalized even in the mind of an average Nigerian, I can’t help but wish we have more voices like Nnamdi Kanu’s.

“Just in case you don’t know, Nigeria is the third most terrorized countries in the world after Afghanistan and Iraq.
“Just take a second and imagine the countries we are in the same class with and even dragging position with. In fact, Nigeria is even leading Syria, Somalia, and Yemen in terrorism class. Pakistan is even coming to borrow notes from Nigeria class rep.
“How do I sleep at night after seeing the corpses of those killed in Southern Kaduna and Jos? Even a child was among those butchered. It is insane!
“What can be more horrifying than the fact that kidnapping of school children for ransom has become one of fastest growing businesses under this administration”?
Reacting to the recent incident at the Nigerian foremost military school where bandits invaded the premises, gunned down officers and abducted a major, the gospel preacher expressed shock, lamenting why the assailants have not been identified.
Fr Kelvin further said, “How do I make sense of the fact that unknown gunmen walked straight into the Nigeria Defence Academy –read slowly– N.i.g.e.r.i.a. D.E.F.E.N.C.E. A.c.a.d.e.m.y. . .and killed soldiers of high ranking, and till now we don’t know them?
“How do I reconcile the fact that Boko Haram members are being pardoned and rehabilitated and someone like Nnamdi Kanu is in prison and the day he was arrested, some so called Nigerians were jubilating.
“Not having electricity is already normal to Nigerians. Then they added kidnapping and banditry. Now that everyone ‘seemed’ to be getting used to kidnappers and bandits, they have started increasing fuel price. Nigeria has never had it this bad.
“NIGERIA AS IT IS, with her present structure, had never worked, cannot work and will never work.
“Imprisoning Nnamdi Kanu is only a testament to the fact that there is something he is saying that this govt is afraid of. Silencing his voice like how they tried silencing the voice of Twitter users, victims of Lekki toll gate, only shows that the hidden plan this govt is trying to execute is yet to unfold. But God is bigger than them and will shock them all. #FreeMaziNnamdiKanuNow”.

The Osun State Governor, Adegboyega Oyetola has stated that the State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) is one big family and that he does not have any issues with anybody.
The Governor made this known while featuring in a special edition of radio current affairs programme to mark the 30th anniversary of the creation of the State.
Oyetola also disclosed that he does not have any issues with The Osun Progressives (TOP), a group within the party which has been consistently criticising him.
The Osun governor revealed that though he does not believe in groups and factions, he preferred caucuses and still takes everybody in the Osun APC as members of one big family.

While noting that there was no rift between him and Aregbesola, he noted that there may be areas of differences, adding that the whole news of problem between both of them was highly exaggerated.
He also emphasised that he and Rauf Aregbesola, the immediate past governor and Minister of Interior are brothers.
On the issue of getting an endorsement from Aregbesola, Governor Oyetola maintained that since he supported and worked for eight years as Chief of Staff to ensure the success of Aregbesola’s administration, he believed he would get same from him if the people requested him to contest for a second term.

Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo has cautioned against Nigeria’s break-up.
Osinbajo said Nigeria would lose more if the country break-up.
The Vice President, who spoke at the National Social Cohesion Dialogue in Abuja yesterday, said there are “more opportunities for prosperity” if Nigeria remains united.
He expressed hope that the country would remain united despite the activities of those calling for secession.

According to Osinbajo: “All Nigerians have a constitutional right to live, work and enjoy their lives in peace and safety under the law. The classification of Nigerians as “indigenes” and “non-indigenes” is a form of apartheid and contradicts our declared aspirations towards equality and unity.
“This is why when we launched our Social Investment Programmes, the eligible beneficiaries were selected based on their states of residence and none was discriminated against on any basis.
“Our destinies have become so interlinked as to be inseparable. This is why this administration is investing heavily in transportation infrastructure – road, rail, sea and river ports – to reduce the distances between our people and link localities to markets and enable trade, travel and tourism.
“Nigeria will be a great loser if we were to break up; when we see the greatest economic advantage to our size about to come to life. In short, staying together as a collective affords each of our communities far more opportunities for prosperity than they would have if they went their separate ways.”
Nigerians like Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and Sunday Igboho, Yoruba Nation freedom fighter, have been agitating for Nigeria’s break-up.
While Kanu is under the custody agreement of the Department of State Services, DSS, Igboho is held by security operatives in Benin Republic.

Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA) averted another fire outbreak in the Ikotun area of the state following pipeline leakages.
The Director-General, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, confirmed the development.
The statement: “Upon arrival at the incident scene, Omoboriowo Street, Pipeline Bus Stop Igando-Ikotun Road, Igando, it was observed a very large volume of PMS was gushing out of the NNPC pipeline.
“Further investigation revealed that the heavy flow of PMS was caused by suspected pipeline vandalism and bunkering in the early hours of Aug. 27.

“Presently, there is no loss of life and property, serious sensitization, public education and awareness are ongoing in the entire community.
“This is to avoid any form of open flame and burning in order to avoid any form of explosion or any other secondary incident.”
He added that the entire area had become highly vulnerable due to the heavy flow of the highly flammable PMS.
“Responders at the incident scene are LASEMA, LRU Fire, Lagos State Fire Service, NSCDC, NNPC, LASTMA and LNSC.
“Three fire trucks are currently on the ground, while the NNPC maintenance team is working to stop the flow in order to commence repairs. Operations are still ongoing,” he said.

The Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, has said suspended National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Uche Secondus must vacate office.
Tambuwal said Secondus must leave office in obedience to the court order sacking him.
The chairman of the PDP Governors Forum spoke while addressing newsmen yesterday after an emergency meeting of the forum in Abuja.
Tambuwal also expressed the Forum’s readiness to support the acting National Chairman of the party, Yemi Akinwonmi.
<a name='more' id="more"></a>“We are a law-abiding party that believes in the rule of law. So when a High Court in Port Harcourt restrained Secondus from parading himself as national chairman of the party, we advised ourselves that was the way to go. We must comply with that court order.
“We had Akinwonmi presiding over the meeting of the National Working Committee today and he came to brief us on their decision which is in line with the previous meeting of the Governors Forum and the meeting of stakeholders that there should be NEC meeting on Saturday, where we shall be discussing issues about the national convention by the grace of God, which is still holding in October.
“The road can be bumpy but the most important thing is that we are still holding together strongly and that is what we assure our members and teeming supporters across the country.
“We are the hope of Nigeria and the hope of the future and we earned that confidence and trust of Nigerians and we are not going to betray it,” he said.
Recall that a Rivers State High Court had ordered Secondus to vacate the office of the PDP National Chairman.
However, Justice Nusirat. I. Umar, a vacation Judge of the Kebbi State High Court, had yesterday reinstated Secondus back to his office.
Meanwhile, Yemi Akinwonmi, had declared himself as the authentic National Chairman of the opposition party.
PDP also confirmed Akinwonmi as the acting National Chairman.

The Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodinma has rubbished the sit-at-home order recently declared by the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, in solidarity with its leader, Mazi Nnamdi Kanu who is currently in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.
Recall that the secessionist group had earlier in the month ordered that sit-at-home would be observed every Monday in all parts of Southeast pending the freedom of Kanu.
But due to pressures from stakeholders, IPOB suspended the action, saying the sit-at-home would now be observed any day the Kanu would be appearing in court to continue his trial which bothers on treason felony.
Despite the suspension, it observes that activities are yet to resume in the region on Mondays over fear of attacks by hoodlums.

However, Uzodinma who spoke during an interview with Channels TV on Thursday as monitored by our correspondent, said the order has not been observed in Imo State, stressing that only orders from his government can be observed.
Despite the unrest in some parts of the state, particularly Orlu, the governor claimed that Imo is “relatively peaceful”.
He said, “There is no any order outside the government of Imo State. Because there is a government and IPOB is not the government in Imo. I am still the governor of the State.
“Imo State government has not authorized any sit-at-home and like I said, in Imo State, everybody is going about their businesses every day, workers are going to work, and normal activities are going on.
“For now, Imo State is relatively calm. Before the end of last league, we even had a match between heartland and Adamawa football club in the night at our stadium and people who watched it all over the world will tell you the level of friendliness and calm environment in Imo State”.

Kano State Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Nura Sagir Umar has freed thirty-five inmates at Goron Dutse Correctional Centre.
Spokesman to the Kano Judiciary, Baba Jibo Ibrahim disclosed this in a statement issued to newsmen.
He said the inmates were released during a 2-day visit to the Correctional Centre by the State Chief Judge.
According to the statement, “The visit is based on the power conferred upon him under section 1(1) of the ”Criminal Justice Release from Custody Act, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2007” which empowered him to conduct prison visit and order the ”Release of any prison inmate if satisfied that the detention of that person is manifestly unlawful; or that the person detained has been in custody, whether on remand or otherwise for a period longer than the maximum period of imprisonment the person detained could have served had he been convicted of the offence in respect of which he was detained”.

He said the move will help in an effort to decongest correctional facilities in the country.
Umar, however, urged the benefiting inmates to try to be positive and desist from any form of negativity.
The inmates expressed their happiness, thanking the Chief Judge and promising to be of good character.

A Kwara High Court sitting in Ilorin, on Wednesday, sentenced one Udoh Sunday Okon to one year at a correctional centre for an offence bordering on a lottery scam.
The Ilorin Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) secured the conviction.
The presiding judge, Justice Sikiru Oyinloye, found the defendant guilty of the offence, following his plea bargain.
The judge said: “I have carefully considered the facts and circumstances of this case, especially the lone count charge, the plea of guilt by the defendant and the unchallenged evidence of the prosecution.

“It is the opinion of this honourable court that the defendant is guilty as charged,” the judge said.
Oyinloye, however, gave the convict a N200,000 option of fine.
He ordered the forfeiture of a N206,000 bank draft, raised as restitution by the convict, and the iPhone which he used in perpetrating the crime to the Federal Government.
Prosecuting Counsel Sesan Ola had earlier told the court that Udoh, a 300-level student of the University of Ilorin, allegedly defrauded an American citizen, simply identified as Kimberly.
Udoh was prosecuted on a one-count charge which read: “That you, Udoh Sunday Okon also known as Christopher Wray, sometime in March cheated by impersonation, when you pretended to be one Christopher Wray, a White male, with +18315088635 as your WhatsApp business line.
“You fraudulently deceived Kimberly, an American to send $500 worth of eBay gift card to you, after you made him believe that he won $1,000,000 Facebook Lottery
“You thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 321 of the Penal Code and punishable under Section 324 of the same law.”
Following his plea, the prosecutor urged the court to convict the defendant and sentence him based on his plea and the evidence tendered before the court.

Yobe State Governor, Mai Mala Buni has commended the Nigerian Army and other security organisations for repelling the attempted attack on Babbangida town, the headquarters of Tarmuwa local government council on Wednesday.
Gov. Buni in a statement issued on Thursday by his Spokesman, Mamman Mohammed said the bravery exhibited by the combatant soldiers in defeating the terrorists forced them to retreat into the bush.

The Deputy President of the Senate, Senator Ovie Omo-Agege has expressed optimism that young people can lead social change in Nigeria.
Speaking in Abuja when he hosted students on a leadership programme with the African Centre for Leadership, Strategy & Development (Centre LSD), Senator Omo-Agege charged them to see themselves as beacons of hope and agents of transformation in their communities.
He urged the young ambassadors to position themselves as drivers of the emerging change in global developmental efforts.
Represented by his Chief of Staff, Dr. Otive Igbuzor, the Delta Central lawmaker explained that young people would become vanguards of positive change agents in their respective communities if their boundless energies were well harnessed and directed.

His words: “There are two ways to change a country: through revolution and evolution. Revolution is when you get some people who don’t like what is happening, they plan and change everything at once. But that is very difficult. And at times, it can be violent.
“The easier one is through evolution where you change the country gradually. If you have a leader who is not good, you change that leader. If you have a policy which is not good, you change it. If you have a behaviour which is not good, you bring a national reorientation to change that behaviour.
“One of the greatest instruments for changing any society is young people. One thing I want you to take away from here is that don’t think about being leaders of tomorrow. Think about being leaders of today. And we believe that young people should be leaders of today and not leaders of tomorrow.
“If there is going to be a phenomenal change in Nigeria, it is in the hands of young people because old people are more difficult to change than young people. Young people are dynamic, innovative, creative and they have the capacity to change.
“And we are already seeing changes in the Buhari administration. In this National Assembly, the things we were hearing before that before you pass any bill you have to bribe legislators, those things are not happening again. Changes are gradual and we are confident that we are on the right path”.
Earlier, Leader of the group who doubles as Education Champion for Centre LSD, Frances Igwilo, said the visit was aimed at educating the students on the workings of the National Assembly.

Big Brother Naija Shine Ya Eye housemate, Peace, stated that Boma’s closeness to Angel is strategic.
Peace made this statement while discussing with Nini in the garden on Wednesday night.
The duo discussed Boma’s behaviour towards the girls and the rest of the housemates.
During the discussion, Peace stated, “I might be wrong but I think Boma’s pair up with Angel is so strategic.”
“Of course, he literally told me that people will like Angel in the house. He didn’t even like Angel from the start,” Nini concurred.

Nini added, “Even from his last conversation, he didn’t like Angel from the start. Because he and Angel could have clicked from the beginning as Jackie B did not work.”
Peace then pointed out that Boma is a very strategic person and it could be detected from the statements he has made in the house.
She recounted how Boma tried to win favor with Whitemoney by praising the latter because of food.
“He’s so political that he wouldn’t say anything directly but will still pass the message,” Peace noted.
Boma has grown very fond of Angel lately, as the duo are always seen together around the house.
It started when Angel spent her time at the Executive lounge with Boma.
During the Sunday live show, Boma chose Angel when the show host, Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, asked him to choose a HoH room partner.
On Monday, the duo spent the night together on Angel’s bed, an act that led to a confrontation from Maria.
Boma also described Angel as his favorite girl on the Big Brother house.

 Japan will halt the use of 1.63 million doses of Moderna’s Covid vaccine after reports of contamination in several vials, drugmaker Takeda and the health ministry said Thursday.
Takeda, which is in charge of sales and distribution of the Moderna shot in Japan, said it had “received reports from several vaccination centres that foreign substances have been found inside unopened vials.”
“Upon consultation with the health ministry, we have decided to suspend the use of the vaccine” from three whole batches from Thursday, it added.
The firm said it had informed Moderna and “requested an urgent investigation.” Moderna did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Takeda did not detail the nature of the contamination but said it had not so far received any reports of health concerns arising from affected doses.
Contaminants were seen inside vials from one of the three batches, but officials suspended the use of vials from the two others as a precaution, said top government spokesman Katsunobu Kato.
“We have not received reports of health problems stemming from the foreign object,” he told reporters.
“But we are asking people to consult their physicians if they experience any abnormality.”
Japanese media said the three batches were all produced in Spain at the same time.
Contaminants were seen in 39 unopened vials at eight vaccination locations in central Japan, including Tokyo, according to national broadcaster NHK.
The defence ministry said doses from a suspended batch had been administered between August 6-20 at its mass vaccination centre in the western city of Osaka.
However, staff visually check vials for contaminants before injecting the formula, the ministry said, adding that its Tokyo vaccination centre was not affected.
Kato said there had been no “concrete reports” that doses confirmed to contain contaminants had been administered.
The health ministry said it would work with Takeda to secure alternative doses to avoid disruption to the country’s vaccine programme, which has ramped up after a slow start.
Takeda Pharmaceutical declined to elaborate details, citing Moderna’s investigation. But a company spokesman said the firm encouraged the public to seek vaccine shots.
Around 43 per cent of Japan’s population has been fully vaccinated, as the country battles a record surge of virus cases driven by the more contagious Delta variant.
Around 15,500 people have died from Covid-19 in the country during the pandemic, and large parts of Japan are under virus restrictions.

Following the leadership crisis currently rocking the opposition People’s Democratic Party, PDP, governors elected under the platform are to hold an emergency meeting today (Thursday) in Abuja.
This was disclosed in a statement on Wednesday by the Director-General, PDP Governors’ Forum, C.I.D Maduabum.
According to the statement, the emergency meeting was summoned by the forum Chairman and Governor of Sokoto State, Aminu Tambuwal, in consultation with his colleagues.
It noted that the meeting slated for 5pm would discuss recent developments in the PDP.
