It will run from 6 p.m. to 7 a.m.</p> <p>“Residents of the affected area are enjoined to go about their legitimate businesses within the hours stipulated by the law.</p> <p>“Anyone caught disrupting the peace of the community will be made to face the wrath of the law,” he said.</p>

They were beaten mercilessly and injured,” he said.</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>Our correspondents at the scene of the protest confirmed that Juwon Sanya-Olu and one Comrade Dimeji were among the 18 arrested protesters.</p> <p>In a video, one of the arrested protesters said, “We have been arrested. Over 10 of us. We are kept in a Black Maria stationed at the toll gate now.”</p> <p>The Federal Government and the police had earlier warned youths who planned to protest at the Lekki tollgate on Saturday (today) to have a rethink and shelve the protests.</p> <p>But the young Nigerians, under the aegis of #EndSARS Season 2 and #OccupyLekkiTollgate, vowed to defy the government’s order.</p> <p>The other group, #DefendLagos withdrew from the protest, noting that it was in accordance with the government’s directives that no protest should hold.</p> <p>The #EndSARS Season 2 and #OccupyLekkiTollgate said their action was informed by the decision of the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry allowing the Lekki Concession Company to reopen the Lekki tollgate.</p> <p>The #EndSARS protests had spread across the country in October 2020 to register the youths’ grievances against the alleged atrocities of the disbanded Special Anti-Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police Force.</p> <p>The protest, which gained massive international attention, came to a halt on October 20, 2020, when heavily armed soldiers allegedly shot protesters at the Lekki tollgate.</p> <p>It was reported that the Lagos State Judicial Panel of Inquiry probing the alleged killing of #EndSARS protesters by soldiers at the Lekki tollgate had, on Saturday, approved the reopening of the tollgate after about four months of investigating the Lekki shootings.</p> <p>However, four out of the nine members of the panel faulted the report of the forensic experts hired to comb the scene for evidence.</p> <p>The four members who faulted the forensic report also rejected the application by the Lekki Concession Company, operator of the Lekki tollgate, to take possession of the facility, which had been shut down since the probe of the shootings started.</p> <p>The four members who rejected the forensic report are the two representatives of the civil society – Mr Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN) and Ms. Patience Udoh; as well as the two youth representatives on the panel – Rinu Oduala and Temitope Majekodunmi.</p> <p>But the chairman of the panel, retired Justice Doris Okuwobi, and four other members of the panel acceded to LCC’s request to repossess the tollgate.</p> <p>The chairman was backed by Segun Awosanya (popularly known as Segalink), Oluwatoyin Odusanya (Director, Citizens Rights), DIG Taiwo Lakanu (retd.) (representing the police), and Lucas Koyejo (from the National Human Rights Commission).</p>

Say no to #lekkitollgate reopening.</p> <p>“A history of rape, history of rejection, Tribalism, Terror, Corruption, nonentities in governance and Docility but enough is enough. Prominent Nigerians appealed to them to show understanding and stop the protest but they were adamant.</p> <p>11. And the real massive destruction of Lagos started. I am proud to announce that for the main time, we will be suspending this protest due to the law of the Federal and state governments. We are law-abiding and good citizens and should not be seen disobeying the law.</p> <p>“In respect of the President, Muhammadu Buhari, and Lagos Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu. I am now announcing that anyone involved in #DefendLagos initiated by me should immediately suspend the protest.</p> <p>“If the federal government and Lagos fail us, we will troop out in a large crowd and protest on Monday.”</p> <p>He noted that though the decision is depressing, the plan to protest was never for personal benefits but to ensure that no destruction occurred in Lagos State.</p> <p>“It is depressing news for me because we have planned and invested our resources to produce banners, posters, etc but this is not an avenue for us to make money like those in the OccupyLagos,” he added.</p> <p>The #DefendLagos campaigner told the government to arrest anyone that contravened the directives stopping protests in the state.</p>

They are burning the houses and shooting the villagers presently,” the source said anonymously on Friday night.</p> <p>Confirming the incident to newsmen, the lawmaker representing Ketu constituency at the Ogun State House of Assembly, Hon. Haruna Egungbohun, said the situation was getting out of hand.</p> <p>Speaking with our correspondent around 11pm on Friday, Egungbohun said, “it’s true, the killer herdsmen have attacked again this night. This is becoming unbearable.”</p> <p>Egungbohun said “we have called the police to come to our aid but we have not got help yet.”</p> <p>The lawmaker disclosed that he has also contacted the Ogun State Government for help.</p> <p>“We are calling and begging Mr Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun to use his good office to strengthen security measures in Ketu land,” it was said.</p> <p>Our correspondent gathered that the attackers also went to Oja-Odan, all in Yewa North to attack residents.</p> <p>When contacted for updates on Saturday morning, Hon. Egungbohun said, “We have recovered four dead bodies so far. We are still searching for others. Those who sustained injuries are many. We have not got any help from any security agency or government.”</p> <p>Gov Abiodun recently said he had deployed a task force to Ogun West to forestall further attacks on the people of the border communities.</p> <p>It was gathered that some youths under the auspices of Yewa North Patriotic Forum had issued a seven-day ultimatum to killer herdsmen in Yewa North to vacate the area.</p> <p>Efforts to get the reaction of the Ogun State Police Public Relatons Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, were unsuccessful as calls to his phone were not answered as of Saturday morning.</p>

This is not social dialoguing.</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>“It is against ILO statutes. The ILO statute says you have a right to go on strike and your employer has a right not to pay you and use the same money to keep the enterprise going.</p> <p>“We are permitted by Law to stop payment of wages during the period of the strike. It is in the labour laws.</p> <p>“That is why I am insistent that no matter what happens today, I must do this conciliation with you.</p> <p>“But if you come here for conciliation, don’t take me for a ride. Don’t take the conciliator for a ride at any level because we don’t have judicial powers like IAP or NIC.</p> <p>“At our last meeting we had a 7-point agenda, we discussed two of them and you asked for an adjournment to come back to the negotiation table.</p> <p>“That adjournment is not a period for you to go on strike. I want us to finish the rest if you wish. If you don’t wish, then I refer you to IAP or NIC,” he said.</p>

No. AKD 367 FU worth N3.5 million property of the complainant.</p> <p>He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 287, 350 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State.</p> <p>Magistrate J.A. Adegun admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with two sureties in like sum.</p> <p>Adegun adjourned the case until Feb. 22 for mention, NAN reports.</p>

Commander of Corps must be an Ex-Servicemen with the minimum rank of Chief Superintendent of Police and its equivalent in the Military and other Security services.</p> <p>It was said that applicants must be between the ages of 18 and 50 (Except for hunters).</p> <p>They must pass an Oral Board Interview and must have valid birth certificates or declaration of age.</p> <p>An Ogun Amotekun corps officer must be physically fit and must not have any form of physical deformity.</p> <p>As a result, there will be medical examination – HIV test, TB test, Blood test, X-ray and other necessary tests.</p> <p>Also required are letters of recommendation from two guarantors, one traditional ruler or a notable person from the applicant’s community as well as an attestation by the applicant’s Local Government (Acting) Chairman or Secretary.</p> <p>It was gathered that the application closes on Friday, February 19.</p> <div><br /></div>

I urge our political leaders and public institutions, without prejudice to the need to maintain public order, to engage peaceful protesters on the substance of their grievances, and to resist the temptation to resort to repressive measures. This is part of what the principles of democracy requires,” he said.</p>

The problem is about strategy, the strategy that he came up with cannot work in this environment because if you go shouting to people of other ethnic stocks to leave your community, the danger there is that your own people who are also in their different communities, the other people will unleash terror on them.</p> <p>“Why do you want to expose your people who are innocent, who are not doing anything to tarnish their own image or their families’ and who are living peacefully in those communities?</p> <p>“Look at what happened in Ondo for instance, the governor issued a directive and the Federal Government of Nigeria came out to start defending the people who entered the forest illegally. It is wrong.</p> <p>“So, it is tact that is necessary to rid our communities of criminals,” he said.</p> <p>The governor’s aide, who responded to some questions asked by newsmen, however, said the Oyo State Government would continue to deploy the resources and intelligence of non-state actors and state actors alike to rid the state of criminal elements.</p> <p>“As to the use of non-state actors, in our own clime here, there is no state that can survive without non-state actors’ involvement in security. It is not possible because the police will not be enough no matter how small your community is, the federal police cannot be enough. So, you’ve got to link up with Vigilante Services of Nigeria, even some communities link up with OPC (Oodua Peoples Congress), some communities link up with traditional hunters and so on.</p> <p>“In Oyo State for instance, this is not the first time we are witnesses some form of crisis but the first time it happened, nobody really heard about it other than an alarm that was raised by the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Aare Gani Adams, that some people are infiltrating Oyo forests and they are trying to attack the state.</p> <p>“What the government did was to rely on non-state actors because there are hunters who go into those forests and filter whatever that is happening in those forests and they come back to tell their leaders that they have seen so and so movement around so and so forests. And the government put together a team of state actors and non-state actors just late last year and flushed out the forests. So, it is a continuous activity that we must continue to use non-state actors and we are using them,” Adisa stated.</p>

They had an agreement with the State government to build a regional hospital called Mother and Child hospital. They agreed that it will be N1.7 Billion Naira,” Wike told the lawmakers.</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>“State government was to bring N800million, NDDC N900 million. The state government at the time paid their N800million. NDDC mobilised the contractor with N400 million of the N800 million we brought, then abandoned the contract, and the contractor left the site,” he added.</p> <p>Wike said when his administration came on board, he stopped the partnership and demanded a refund of the N400 million, and according to him, “it became a problem. Politics came in.</p> <p>The Governor further claimed that NDDC mandate governors are being sidelined by the Commission, noting that the ruling party on federal level dictates what happens in the Commission, making the NDDC act as a state on itself and refuses to interface with the Governors to strategically develop the region.</p> <p>He said since the inauguration of the NDDC Advisory Council last year, the President Muhammadu Buhari government has ensured that the governors remain sidelined in the affairs of the commission.</p> <p>“Even when we are inaugurated, we were not involved in anything that happens in NDDC. Which is most unfortunate,” Wike lamented.</p>

They broke all the fences around and destroyed the structures and houses. “There is an uncompleted building in the compound, which was also demolished. More than 400 to 500 people have lost their houses. They are task force people and Maroko Police Station.</p> <p>“They came yesterday and said they did not want to see anybody around the toll gate and we should remove our belongings.  They said we were the people that testified against them during the #EndSARS protest, and they read the reports and knew many of us who spoke to the media.</p> <p>“Some people took their property out, but others could not. They are still here as we speak, burning property yet to be removed. There is a heavy security presence around the toll gate.”</p> <p>The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said he was not aware of the demolition.</p> <p>“I will ask the task force and get back to you,” he added.</p>

I told her that people in Warri do not observe COVID-19 protocols very well, and I demanded that she stays in the guest house.</p> <p>“On the third day, my niece became very ill. She was very weak, coughing and said she had malaria. I directed that she should be taken to my clinic. Because of her cough, the doctor asked that she goes for a COVID-19 test.</p> <p>“The next day, the Health Minister, Dr. Osagie Ehanire, sent doctors and 24 of us in the house were tested and on Saturday, the result came and nine of us tested positive. Number one on the list was I. I was terribly worried because people had died from the virus.</p> <p>“Dr. Ehanire contacted the FCT COVID team and they wanted to evacuate me to a good isolation centre, but I insisted on treatment from home.</p> <p>“They sent doctors to look after me and the rest who tested positive. I was worried because I have heard of people dying of the virus,” Clark said.</p> <p>The 93-year-old elder statesman, however, said that he has recovered from the virus alongside nine of his workers and siblings, who tested positive.</p>

We played well today because Inter hardly had any shots on goal. We had the best chances and [Samir] Handanovic was the best player on the pitch.</p> <p>“We defend in a 4-4-2 but mix it up when we’re building moves depending on the opponents.”</p>
