The statement read in part: “It is now clear that in addition to the relationship by affinity, President Buhari also has a consanguinity relationship with Amina Zakari and has not denied that he started his early childhood in Amina Zakari’s father’s house.<br /> <br /> “President Buhari’s admittance has effectively established that the PDP has not been crying wolf on the impropriety of involving Mrs. Amina Zakari in the collation of Presidential election results, let alone being appointed to head the final determination of the Presidential election.<br /> <br /> “It is totally unethical and immoral for an umpire to insist on officiating a contest even when her impartiality is called to question. Even in the judiciary, judges recuse themselves in cases involving parties they have affinity with. We have no confidence in INEC. Let me expressly say that, and you can tell that by their actions in the last three and half years. We started in Kogi state and on to Ondo, Edo, Ekiti and Osun state.<br /> <br /> “I want you to recall that we started with inconclusiveness. That was the pattern and when the outcry was unbecoming and becoming embarrassing to them and for them, they took another style in Edo. It came like that to other states in the West on and on like that.<br /> <br /> “One thing I want to say to you, I would not talk about the past but I want to say that, it is now a moral burden for a party and a president that came out of concession from a man who was in a position that could make it impossible at the time.<br /> <br /> “Many Nigerians could not expect a Jonathan in the 21st century, a Nigerian, an African who would say no and not concede, but the man conceded honorably and he said his presidency is not worth the blood of any Nigeria.<br /> <br /> “This government of APC truly is an inconclusive government that I have ever seen. You cannot see anything good in any INEC overseen by the current leadership of this country. What you saw in the last few days by the appointment of Aminat Zakari is a moral burden.<br /> <br /> “They said the PDP appointed Aminat Zakari. Yes it was, at the time President Buhari was not a candidate at the time. And it shows that President Jonathan was honorable, taking and accepting somebody from the camp of his perceived opponent to be in INEC. Like I said, this election is a moral burden for them.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> “If you go to court and you ask the court not to try you because you believe you will not get justice with the judge, the judge will honorably close the file and send it to the CJ. This is an election involving President Buhari directly as the President of Nigeria. There are so many commissioners in INEC, why must it be this woman everybody is complaining about?<br /> <br /> “Even if you want to steal votes, you must equally don’t let us predict you all the time. Afterall some armed robbers operate only in the night and not during the day. So, the armed robbers who want to steal votes there, they want to do it during the day. It is a moral burden and it is what I call a banana peel for Nigeria.<br /> <br /> “INEC should please; they have told the whole world that they would do a credible election. It amazed me most that the INEC chairman announced that the woman is the person to collate but sent another text entirely different to cover up to the press and say, she is only to provide the environment because the outcry was becoming embarrassing. That is not the only commissioner there, and let all other political parties too bring somebody in the situation room.<br /> <br /> “It is not a hidden agenda. So I won’t be surprise if the Oyo state REC is doing what he is doing or saying what he is saying, we all know how they came, they will be going around and saying PDP was doing this and that. The thing was not what PDP was doing.<br /> <br /> “You told us you wanted a clear departure from the past, you told us you wanted to clean the mess of the past, is this how to clean the mess? This is a moral burden. Will it not amaze and surprise you that the presidency came out to defend INEC who is supposed to be an Independent National Electoral Commission but they are now Presidential Independent National Electoral Commission (PINEC). It is a moral burden and we want everybody to know where the problem is likely to come from.<br /> <br /> “Election has not started, PDP and some political parties are saying no, they don’t want this, if I were INEC, I will be honorable and do justice.”<br /> <br /> According to the ex-governor, Zakari was brought in as INEC commissioner as the last resort when it is obvious that all odds are against the APC to win the forthcoming election, saying “let me now tell you why they brought Aminat Zakari now.<br /> <br /> “Because APC employed consultant to do opinion polls and largely the parameter were these, what happened in 2015 and what is likely to happen in 2019. They found out that now President Buhari a Muslim from the North, Atiku Abubarkar also a Muslim from the North. They went further, Buhari, a Fulani man from the North and Abubarkar also a Fulani man from the North. They went further and saw all the parameters and they saw that there was no hiding place. They tested waters in Kano and they have realized that it would not be business as usual.<br /> <br /> “In 2014, they brought the entire pooling booths in the whole of Borno to Maiduguri where a Jonathan, a Christian from the South, where readily and most people there cannot stand up for PDP at the time.<br /> <br /> “Today, that is not going to be easy for them. And they gave them that security report and now they realized that they cannot trust the INEC chairman himself again, they now told the INEC chairman that the only option left for them (APC) to believe he (INEC Chairman) is with them is to go and announce Aminat Zakari as collation officer. That meeting took place at the First Lady’s Chambers in Aso Villa. Don’t ask me how I got to know that one; it is not your business.<br /> <br /> “That was how the INEC chairman agreed to make sure that they announced that lady’s name. I will give other revelations later. I don’t want to say everything today. So, I am not surprised at what any of these RECs are doing. We have put a stop to that,” Buhari was quoted as saying by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.<br /> <br /> “As you yourselves have confirmed today, we have begun regular payment of monthly pensions and payment of backlog of arrears,” Buhari said and recalled that his administration recently released N45 billion accrued rights for the contributory pension scheme and N22.4 billion to start payment of ex-Nigeria Airways pensioners.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> The Federal Government, he added, also bailed out the states with the Paris Club refunds to enable them address salary and pension arrears while also authorizing schemes for the restoration of Niger Delta Steel Company, NITEL/MTEL and Biafra Police war veterans’ pensioners.<br /> <br /> Reviewing the actions taken so far by the administration in connection with the pension industry, the President said the Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) had saved N4.9 trillion per annum as a result of payroll clean-up under the civil service verification exercise.<br /> <br /> He said that the directorate which supervised the payment of pension arrears to over 50,000 verified civil service pensioners, also oversaw the payment of N917.6 million to 432 war retirees.<br /> <br /> According to the President, under his watch, PTAD completed full payment of N5.8 billion to police retirees in August 2018 while in November 2018, N13.7 billion was paid to parastatal retirees and N18 billion to civil service pensioners.<br /> <br /> ”These few examples testify to the government’s positive impact on pensioners’ lives. In addition, we achieved huge savings in budgetary provisions through the elimination of ghost and duplicated details.<br /> <br /> ”We have restored qualified pensioners arbitrarily removed from the payroll, thus bringing succour and hope to senior citizens, thereby improving the confidence of the entire county in the government and its policies,” he said.<br /> <br /> On the requests by the pensioners, including the implementation of the National Policy on Pension Parity and the National Policy on Social Security on Health and Other Related Matters of the Elderly, the President promised to do all within his powers to address them, subject to the availability of funds.<br /> <br /> The leader of the delegation had also sought the President’s intervention on the five per cent counterpart funding for the payment of local government pensioners and retired primary school teachers which was arbitrarily stopped in 2010.<br /> <br /> Comrade Dallatu appealed for the payment of outstanding pension arrears, gratuities and death benefits that have accrued over the years, among others.<br /> <br /> Noting that some pensioners receive as low as N2, 000 monthly, he urged the President to make the issue of national minimum pension for pensioners in tandem with the proposed national minimum wage for workers.<br /> <br /> Commending President Buhari on the regular payment of pensions, Dallatu said: ”We are bold to say without fear or favour that you have made our lives better than you met it in so many areas, which among others include regular payment of monthly pensions.<br /> <br /> ”It is an incontestable fact that since the advent of this government under your able leadership, payment of monthly pensions has been more regular than ever. In fact, if the truth must be told, Mr. President Sir, we have never had it so good.”

We have discussed all the issues and all the grey areas, particularly how we can ensure that the issue is put behind us.<br /> <br /> “That is why we took such a long time, including having a timeout to consult. But we have not been able to conclude and we have agreed to reconvene to tidy up the process.<br /> <br /> “The issue at stake is to make sure that the bill is transmitted and also other auxiliary issues that government says they are trying to put together. We also want to see how the money gets into the pocket of our workers because a lot of economic factors have affected the current wage.<br /> <br /> “But the major issue is that we have been able to have a meaningful social dialogue. But the process is not conclusive and will reconvene on Monday.<br /> <br /> “Monday is not too far from now since today is Friday.”<br /> <br /> He said the outcome of Monday’s meeting would determine whether labour would proceed with its planned rallies on Tueday.<br /> <br /> Continuing, he said: “Part of the report that was submitted is all inclusive of the main report and draft bill. But those processes which they need to ensure that a clean bill is transmitted to the National Assembly and what they now termed some physical issues are what we will tidy up on Monday. So, let us wait for that Monday.”<br /> <br /> The meeting started at about 12.50 pm with several breaks in between to allow for consultations with stakeholders including President Buhari.<br /> <br /> NE gathered that the labour leaders insisted on a definite date when the government will transmit the minimum wage bill to the National Assembly, a decision the three ministers present could not take on their own.<br /> <br /> Addressing the meeting earlier, Ngige said the President was committed to giving Nigerian workers a new minimum wage.<br /> <br /> He said however that in addressing the issue, the government wanted to ensure that the new minimum wage was sustainable.<br /> <br /> He said “I do realise that this is still part of the Christmas period and that people are still on holiday. You can see the two ministers in charge of government resources. The Minister of Budget and National Planning and the Minister of Finance. Mr. President specifically asked them to be part of this meeting. We had to cut short our vacation because of the need for us to discuss.<br /> <br /> “You know that people can go to war when there is lack of information and in the process, people can misconstrue and speculate. We called this meeting as a result of the communique issued by the Joint Labour Centres after your executive meeting in Lagos when you informed government that you are not happy with the implementation processes of the report of the tripartite committee.”<br /> <br /> President of the NLC, Comrade Aruba Wabba said the organised labour has always wanted all issues of industrial relations resolved through dialogue, adding that the issue on ground has nothing to do with money, but the process leading to the final outcome.<br /> <br /> Wabba said “Clearly, we have always believed in social dialogue in resolving industrial relations issues. From the beginning of the issue of this new national minimum wage which was legally due in 2016, labour has demonstrated enough patience and understanding and has followed all the processes to make sure that we are able to dispense with this issue.”

Abdulmalik was arrested in Lagos by operatives of the Inspector General of Police Special Intelligence Response Team (IRT). According to the 30-year-old native of Okene, Kogi State, he was recruited into Boko Haram by an Islamic cleric, one Mustapha, who also indoctrinated him.<br /> <br /> Mustapha had moved to Okene around 2009, built a mosque and began urging people to shun western education, which he branded a sin against Allah. Islamic education, in his view, was the only acceptable mode of education to Allah. Abudulmalik said he fell for Mustapha’s brand of Islam and soon joined other Mustapha’s followers to destroy their school certificates, and also agreed to wage war against the Nigeria State. His words: “I joined one of the Boko Haram cells in Okene headed by one Zeeidi and we carried out several bombings within Kaduna, Kano and Abuja.<br />              <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Zeeidi was the person providing the bombs and my job then was to take them to our target locations. “After a while, the Department of State Security infiltrated our cell and they started arresting members of our group and Mallam Mustapha was arrested and his mosque was demolished. “Zeedi also brought the idea of bank robbery so that those of us who had not been arrested could have the resources to continue with the Jihad. “He brought some guns and he suggested we should attack the Kotonkarfe Prison in Kogi State, so we could free our members who were detained there.<br /> <br /> “The attack on the prison was successful and we freed a lot of our members and immediately attacked some banks in Okene and emptied all the money therein. “Then, we moved to Owo (Ondo State) and also attacked some of the banks there with dynamites and carted away large sums of money. We used some of the money we made from those robberies to buy advanced explosives, including materials we could use in producing none-metallic bombs that could beat metal detectors. “A lot of our members, including Zeedi, were arrested after those bank robberies and the attack on prison.<br /> <br /> “Then I moved to Abuja with the bombs we produced and I formed a new cell in 2014 and we carried out several bombings, including those at Banex Plaza, Nyanya and Kuje areas of Abuja, but unfortunately our gang was busted and five of our gang members were arrested and our bombs, including the none-metallic and the materials we were using in making them, were recovered. “I escaped, fled to Kano and I went underground for two years before I returned to Abuja and formed a new gang and we went into full blown armed robbery.” “After I formed my new robbery gang, we robbed a woman of N500,000, which was her saving from a contribution she had with some women. One of our gang members who got information about the money told me about it and we robbed the woman and took the money.<br /> <br /> “We also robbed a man at an Okene check point. We pretended to be policemen and we collected N1.3million from the man. We then moved to Abuja where we started robbing supermarkets, including their customers. “We also killed a policeman at Shoprite in Suleja and we took his rifle away. We also robbed a shop along Second Gate on the Abuja-Kaduna Road. “There was this dismissed policeman known as Apin-Iron, who was dismissed for taking part in armed robbery.<br /> <br /> Iron has two AK-47s and a pistol which he uses to intercept and seize illicit drugs from people trying to smuggle it into Abuja. We normally visit his place to buy and ‘smoke’ drugs and we became friends. During one of our visits, he told us that he knew several rich people we could rob and what we needed to do was to give him his share of the loot.<br /> <br /> He gave us information of a man who we robbed and took the sum of N5million from. “We gave Apin-Iron the sum of N2.5m as his share because that was what he demanded. He also gave us several other jobs before I had an accident and damaged one of my eyes.<br /> <br /> “There was this Mustapha who was an internet fraudster and he was making money, but he started having issues with some cultists within his area and he brought in the police to arrest the boys but the boys were released and the boys came back disturbing him. So, he came to me and said he needed my boys to protect him and I told him if that would be possible, he would have to buy my boys two AK-47s. “He agreed and bought us the guns, then my boys, Lampard and Abubakar, started moving around with him in military uniforms. “When people<br /> <br /> saw them, they would think that they were soldiers. So, he wanted my boys to kill the cultist and a nurse treating him because the nurse entered his house and saw him performing rituals and the woman went to tell people that he was using charms to make his money. “My boys told me about the job and I told them not to kill anyone and he became angry with me.<br /> <br /> I am suspecting he was the person that went to inform the police about my gang”. Continuing, Abdulmalik said: “After I lost one of my eyes I was in the hospital but my boys were still going for robbery and they were only bringing money to me. I wasn’t with them when they killed the seven policemen at Galadima roundabout. I was in the hospital. “After I was discharged, I had not gone for any robbery with them but the police later arrested Lampard and Abubakar and they brought the policemen to my house. I had an AK-47 rifle with me when the police came and I fired some shots, which made it easy for me to escape but the police returned fire and I got injured.<br /> <br /> “I managed to escape to Sango Ota, Ogun State, where my sister resides and I later learned that the police went on to arrest Fine-Boy and Abubakar and Sulieman. “A guy known as Scorpion called and informed me. I don’t know how the police knew I was in my sister’s place, they found me sleeping and I was arrested.” Police sources said that the IRT, led by Deputy Commissioner of Police, Abba Kyari, in the course of investigating the gruesome killing of seven policemen and a civilian at Galadima Roundabout, Abuja in July 2018, arrested a member of the gang identified as Luckman Abdulmalik, alias Lampard, through a tip-off in Ondo State. The suspect confessed to taking part in the killing of the seven policemen and took the IRT operatives to the gang’s hideout in Abuja where four other members identified as Abubakar Bello Sidi, Yusuf Abdulazeez alias, Fine Boy, Suleman Zakariya and Haruna Lamid, were arrested. Abdulmalik escaped with a bullet wound.<br /> <br /> Four AK-47s seized from slain policemen, six magazines, 270 rounds of AK-47 ammunition and two police walkie talkies were recovered from the suspects. It was gathered that Abdulmalik, with his bullet wound, fled to his nurse sister in Lagos for treatment. Unknown to him, IRT operatives in Lagos had received information that he had a sister residing in Lagos. They trailed him to her house where he was found sleeping and arrested.

I settled in between a man in his mid<br /> 50's and a girl of about 9yrs, some of her missing teeth reminded me of my daughter Kamsi.<br /> I looked out of the window and noticedI was seated close to<br /> the engine. I sighed and muttered "my ear go hear am today". | also noticed there where seemly more kids than adults too. This is going to be one very noisy flight.<br /> We took off smoothly and I closed my eyes and dozed off. I woke up to a tap by a flight attendant. She made to give me a pack of snacks, I declined.<br /> Not ready to spoil my coffee and crossaint breakfast (this would have been my last breakfast). Was about<br /> to close my ears again when I heard it, the engine hit something... Must be a bird, the plane vibratedslightly.<br /> I would have waved it aside if the flight<br /> attendant didn't come peeping out the window. I follwed his gaze and saw the smoke.<br /> WHAT!!! Is this for real???<br /> And that was the beginning of our<br /> nightmare.<br /> The plane started vibrating. The pilot<br /> annouced we would land by 10:55 am. We neared the runway, oya tyre come out, for where! We went back<br /> up amidst vibrating plane and cries of scared kids.<br /> The pilot tried 3 other times to land the plane and it didn't work. Na then I know say water don pass garri.<br /> Fire was coming out of the engine. I bent down and prayed for my kids.<br /> I confessed my sins and asked<br /> God for forgiveness. Sent my sis Luu and my closest friend a text. Didn't go into details because i didn't want them to panick. A certain peace envloped me.<br /> I was ready to die. I told myself Jeff knows where all my important documents are. He will answer any<br /> questions as I am about to die without leaving a will.<br /> I closed my eyes and waited for the inevitable to happen.<br /> Then the plane turned a fifth time and faced the runway. An elderly man got up and implored all of us to start thanking God for the miracle he was about to do.<br /> We all started screaming and shouting<br /> thank you Jesus. looked out the window and we were nearing the runway again.<br /> I shut my eyes and prayed vehemently that this will be it. God please do it for my kids sake. God heard us. The thud of the plane landing was the best feeling ever. I wept. Tears<br /> of gratitude.<br /> Everyone was crying. People hugged<br /> each other, At that moment we were one, Not Hausa or lgbo or Yoruba. Just a group of people united in our fears and prayers. We survived. We didn't die. We alighted to the jubilation of the Airport workers.<br /> They witnessed it. They were down there praying for us. Fire service already poured water on the runway to<br /> minimise the impact incase we crash landed God and the pilot's expertise saved us.<br /> God, who am I that you are mindful of me?
