Certainly, I am and I will be my own man as governor. I appreciate all the support and endorsements of the party structure . I also think that happened because they know me, they know what I have done , my contribution in government , out of government and all the various things that I ’ ve done , that ’ s why they ’ re supporting me .<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <br /> “ This same question of if I will be my own man is a reference to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who is our leader . It is important to say that Asiwaju has never had any negative influence on his two successors . He is always about the development of Lagos . If anything else, he pushes us to be better than what we have done in Lagos.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ He is my leader and a father figure . I will be lying if I say I will not take advice from him . I will seek his wise counsel and guidance , just like I will take advice from Alhaji Lateef Jakande and anyone who has had the privilege of leading the state from when Lagos was created 52 years ago . They all have rich experiences in the leadership and governance of the state . They say experience is the best teacher . ”<br /> <br /> <br /> Speaking on the freedom slogan of his main rival in the March 9 election, Sanwo- Olu said his Peoples Democratic Party rival , Mr Jimi Agbaje , said the state was not in bondage.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Nobody is in bondage in Lagos . This man you ’ re talking about comes out every four years to contest as governor, yet he talks about freedom . Let me ask where Mr Jimi Agbaje was when his party , the PDP, held Lagos state revenue for over two years.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ So , there was no cry for freedom in Lagos when the PDP- led Federal Government failed to grant approvals for developmental projects . There was no cry of freedom when Lagos had issues with securing the right of way for Redline rail project from Agbado to CMS for six years and PDP refused to grant it.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ There was no cry of freedom when Lagos was agitating for a special status for 16 years . But Agbaje is suddenly talking about freedom for a Lagos that has grown from borrowing money to pay salary in 1999 to a fifth largest economy in Africa . That ’ s unfair on the state and its people, ” he added .

Bukola Saraki, who also is the Director General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organisation.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <br /> According to him , there have been resumed harassments and fresh attacks on the PDP leaders by security men.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said , “ The Buhari Presidency and the APC know that their electoral robbery cannot stand before any noble justice and are now attempting to use all sorts of blackmail and shenanigans to derail the quest by Nigerians to reclaim the stolen mandate at the tribunal.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ However , let it be known to President Buhari and the APC that Atiku Abubakar and the PDP are standing shoulder to shoulder with Nigerians in this collective determination to take back the stolen mandate and we are not ready for any form of negotiation with anybody on this matter.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Our party and candidate remain committed to the huge sacrifices made by Nigerians in ensuring our collective victory as delivered at the polling units across the country; we are mindful of the pains that Nigerians are passing through since the subversion of their will at the polls ; we are sensitive to the expectations that millions of compatriots place on our shoulders in this struggle and we will never let Nigerians down . ”<br /> <br /> <br /> Ologbondiyan, who is also the Director , Media , and Publicity , PDP Presidential Campaign Organization said they had all the authentic results from all the polling units as well as forensic evidence of manipulations by the APC and the Independent National Electoral Commission.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said they would present them all at the tribunal, adding that the court would give justice to Nigerians.

There was no letter from the NWC to him to query the governor for any offence . The truth is that Oshiomhole is a man who has no respect for rule of law . He has a penchant for disobeying valid court judgments and orders.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ We demand his immediate resignation from APC. Adams Oshiomhole has outlived his usefulness in APC . As a party , we will not honour that purported suspension . It is null and void and of no effect . Governor Rochas Okorocha remains the leader of APC in Imo state.”<br /> <br /> <br /> The state chairman said that APC in the state had no governorship candidate , even as he maintained that the APC governorship candidate in the state , Senator Hope Uzodinma , was not known by the party.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said that available records by the party showed that Uzodinma was not a registered member of APC in his ward in Oru East Local Government Area of the state.

Once a place is adjudged and declared as having security challenges , corps members are not to serve there either for elections or primary assignments.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Their security is always considered by the scheme during posting.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ We have seen reports in the media claiming that corps members died during the presidential and national assembly elections.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The NYSC Coordinator in Rivers already addressed this issue and set the records straight that no corps member serving as INEC ad hoc staff died during the February 23 elections .<br /> “ There were pockets of violence in the state but no corps member lost his or her life.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Before corps members are deployed as INEC ad hoc staff , there must be an MoU between the two organisations and as part of the MoU , INEC is to provide welfare and security for the corps members.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Payment of renumeration is also fixed and disbursed by INEC . The commission has stated how much corps members are entitled to and they also agreed that their welfare, which includes transportation and feeding will be handled by them, ” Adeyemi said.<br /> <br /> <br /> She said that the responsibility of the scheme was to ensure that the commission carried out to the letter , all agreements signed by it.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> (NAN)<br /> <br />

My growth in the last 30 years has been in phases . The first phase was when I discovered my talent in Ekpoma ( in Edo State ) in 1998 . Between that time and 1993 , I had to convince my family that comedy what was what I wanted to do.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <br /> “ I figured I had to build awareness and embrace opportunities ; I had to promote my talent through television stations, night clubs , universities and newspaper houses . After so much promotion, by 1998 , I had built some momentum, and the commercialisation of my comedy took place.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ In 1996 , I joined Guinness to promote a brand and that was when I made my first N1 m . It gave me the strength to continue and I realised that there was more to my talent . Between 1998 and 2003 , I started commercialising comedy; I had to get an office , register my business , brand and network.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ In the fourth phase , I started diversifying by writing and speaking. I used to do stage plays as well, but I figured I wasn’t going to make as much money as I wanted (from it), so I devoted my time to stand - up comedy alone.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Between 2008 and 2013 , I realised it was time to consolidate my career. We had to build institutions, create structures and also work towards having a media empire . Within that time , I started organising my comedy shows . There was a need to reposition myself as the frontline comedian . In 2016 , I performed comedy for six hours because I wanted something that would spread around the social media space , ” he said.<br /> <br /> <br /> The comedian also spoke about the memorable lessons life had taught him in the last 30 years . When I started doing stand- up comedy, there were no one doing it at the time ; however , there were masters of ceremonies who dabbled into comedy like Bisi Olatilo , and Tunji Shotimirin . These people were plying the trade a bit but they were not fully into stand -up comedy.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ When I came on the scene , I devoted my time fully to stand- up comedy. I continued to struggle in the career path because I knew I would make it a commercial success . And because of this , I had a head start . This could justify why people call me the father of stand - up comedy, ” he said.<br /> <br /> <br /> When asked about his jokes about former President Olusegun Obasanjo and how the ex - President used to laugh over them; he noted that he had been hosting events for bigwigs in the Nigerian military before making jokes about him.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The ex - President , Obasanjo , wasn ’ t just promoting me ; he recognised stand- up comedy and gave it a boost . After a while , he got used to me and started recommending me for events he attended. A lot of state governors , who used to attend those presidential dinners , used to invite me to their events. For him to have the thick skin to accommodate my jokes about him made them feel comfortable with me.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ I felt comfortable performing in front of military men because I had done events for military chiefs like Sani Abacha , Ibrahim Babangida and Tunde Idiagbon . When I performed at military barracks , I could get away with some things because I knew the ropes. I studied the origin of stand - up comedy and I knew it started with the blacks. I knew how to tell jokes without offending anybody . I knew there was a thin line between being funny and being offensive , ” he said.

If you allow it and it continues to pile , nobody knows what will happen. They have to go home with their lives . So they were threatened and silenced , they cannot talk. He alleged that the governor and his agents forced the returning officer to announce Okorocha as the winner of the election.

The suspect , Fatiu Mohammed , reportedly transferred the sum to another bank account.<br /> <br /> <br /> It was learnt that the suspect , Mohammed , perpetrated the alleged fraud on December 14 , 2018 after he snapped the account details of the customer from the computer screen of his colleague , who is an account officer.<br /> <br /> <br /> It was gathered that Okoye complained to the bank when she discovered the fraud and petitioned the police at the Area D Command , Mushin.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <br /> In the course of investigation , the closed circuit television at the banking hall was said to have been reviewed.<br /> <br /> <br /> The CCTV reportedly captured the moment Mohammed took photographs of the computer screen with his phone to get account information . He was then arrested by the police.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ On December 11 , 2018 , Mohammed , who is a direct sales agent of the bank was seen viewing and taking photographs with his phone from the computer screen of the account officer during the working hours. He extracted information on the account of the woman. It was discovered that on December 14 , an unauthorised transfer of the sum of N 3 , 441 , 000 was made from the woman’ s account to another one . It is believed that the viewing of the account details led to the unauthorised transfer , ” a source told our correspondent.<br /> <br /> <br /> The suspect in his statement to the police admitted to have taken photographs of some information on the computer screen . He , however , denied taking photographs of the account details of the woman, claiming that he did not commit the fraud.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said he wanted to send the information to customers , who had registered with the bank through him , to enable them to have better understanding of the services offered by the bank.<br /> <br /> <br /> A police prosecutor , Inspector Koti Aondohemba , consequently brought him before an Ogba Magistrate’ s Court on two counts of fraud to which he pleaded not guilty.<br /> <br /> <br /> The counts read in part, “ That you , Fatiu Mohammed and others now at large , on December 14 , 2018 , at Diamond Bank Plc , Motori Branch , Mushin , in the Lagos Magisterial District , did conspire among yourselves to commit felony to wit stealing , thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria , 2015.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ That you , Fatiu Mohammed and others now at large , on December 14 , 2018 , on the same date , time and place, in the aforementioned magisterial district , did steal the sum of N3 , 441 , 000 from the account of one Rose Okoye, thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 280 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria , 2015 . ”<br /> <br /> <br /> The presiding magistrate , M . O . Tanimola , admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200 , 000 with two sureties in the like sum and adjourned the case till March 13 , 2019.

They demanded the source of the money, its owner and destination.<br /> <br /> The crew was said to have informed the operatives that the money was meant for election expenses in Kwara State, but the detectives reportedly insisted on taking away the cash haul.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Our sources said, “The EFCC operatives interrogated the crew and they claimed they were part of the government. They also gave a code which they assumed the operatives would understand, but the detectives insisted on taking away the money.<br /> <br /> “However, a phone call came from the Presidential Villa ordering them to hands off the matter and clear off from the scene. Shortly after, armed soldiers took over the scene and the money was transferred into another plane which took off by 10pm that night.”<br /> <br /> The Public Relations Officer, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, Mrs Henrietta Yakubu, could not be reached for comments on the aircraft involved in the cash movement as she did not respond to calls to her phone. She had yet to respond to a text message as of the time of filing this report.<br /> <br /> In his reaction, the acting EFCC spokesman, Tony Orilade, simply explained that he saw the alleged picture of the said aircraft being shared on the social media, noting that it could have been ‘created and recreated.’<br /> <br /> He said, “On the plane-load of cash you asked about, I saw the pictures and we know that these pictures are things that can be manipulated to achieve the purposes by their producers. All the reports from the field are being reviewed and we shall come out with our position once it is ready.”<br /> <br /> Orilade added, “Let’s not be carried away by the activities of mischief-makers; like the acting EFCC Chairman, Ibrahim Magu said, we shall continue to do the right thing to make Nigeria a better country for everyone.”<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, findings have indicated that the EFCC may not investigate the movement of huge cash in two bullion vans by a leader of the All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, on the eve of the elections.<br /> <br /> Although Tinubu admitted in an interview with journalists in Lagos that he transported the bulk money into his Ikoyi residence which is a violation of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, it was gathered that the anti-graft agency had no plan to probe the incident.<br /> <br /> When asked about the money, the former governor said, “What is your issue with bullion vans in my house? I have not done any government business in the last five years. So I didn’t steal government money.<br /> <br /> “And the bullion van was not said to contain election materials, so what offence have I committed? I decide where to keep it (money) and how to keep it.”<br /> <br /> But when confronted about the matter, the EFCC spokesman said the anti-graft commission had successfully curbed vote-buying in the elections and prevented a repeat of the incidents in Ekiti and Osun governorship elections.<br /> <br /> “You will agree with me that to a large extent, we were able to curtail vote-buying with our men conspicuously positioned at polling booths across the country in the course of the elections,” he said.

Nobody will stop us from going to court and bring all of the facts both the international observers and some people have not seen. Up till now, some people are being detained and harassed. That is ongoing. We are in a police state. Right now, the entire country has turned to a police state. That will not discourage us from going to court. As for court, we will go to court. We are not fighting. We will go to court. No pressure whatsoever. We have assembled more than 18 lawyers.”<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> The Legal Adviser to the PDP, Mr Emmanuel Enoiden, said the party would unveil the legal team on Saturday. He declined to name the members of the legal team but said they were among the best legal brains in the country.<br /> <br /> He said, “We are prepared to go to court. We have put together a legal team that will handle the legal proceedings. We are ready. PDP is a formidable party so we will go for the best. We won the election, we were only robbed of the victory and we are ready to reclaim the victory. If we must reclaim, we know we have to put together the best legal team, legal minds in the country to do that.<br /> <br /> “We are unveiling the legal team tomorrow. I will not tell you the members until it is unveiled. I have no powers to mention any of them. Of course as the legal adviser to the party, I should be part of the team.”<br /> <br /> Secondus said the report of some foreign and local observers that the elections were credible, free and fair was incorrect.<br /> <br /> He stated that the foreign observers might have made such report to save their lives as he noted that the foreign observers were threatened that they would return in their body bags by the Governor of Kaduna State, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai.<br /> <br /> “There is nobody that will stop us from approaching the court, we will go to court and bring all these things that both the international observers and others have not seen. We will bring them to court. I believe that justice will be done at the court. If we continue to suppress injustice and go sentimental, the country will begin to pile up gun powder that will explode someday.<br /> <br /> “There is so much injustice. If you allow it and it continues to pile, nobody knows what will happen. So that is why we decided that as good citizens and law-abiding people who believe in the rule of law, we will go to court. We are not going to depend on the comments of the observers that were threatened.<br /> <br /> “They were threatened and so what do you expect them to say? They have to go home with their lives. So they were threatened and silenced, they cannot talk. So, it is our responsibility as good citizens to bring this to the public and to go to the court, so we are going to court.”<br /> <br /> He also said the party would study INEC proposal for supplementary elections and take appropriate decision.<br /> <br /> He also said the party would contest the declaration of the Governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, as the winner of the Orlu Senatorial district election. He alleged that the governor and his agents forced the returning officer to announce Okorocha as the winner of the election.

Abdulsalami Abubakar (retd.).<br /> <br /> They presented the videos in Abuja on Thursday night.<br /> <br /> Among those who watched the clips with the former head of state were Cardinal John Onaiyekan and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.<br /> <br /> PDP members who were at the meeting, which held at the Asokoro, Abuja residence of the former vice-president, included the PDP vice-presidential candidate, Peter Obi; President of the Senate, who is also the Director-General of the PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Bukola Saraki; and the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> It was gathered that Abdulsalami had been trying to meet with Atiku and his team since the announcement of the election results by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, in Abuja in the early hours of Wednesday.<br /> <br /> Announcing the results, Yakubu had said that the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, President Muhammadu Buhari, won with 15,191,847 votes as against 11,262,978 polled by Atiku of the PDP.<br /> <br /> The former vice-president and his party had rejected the results and said they would seek redress in court.<br /> <br /> At the meeting with the Abdulsalami-led committee on Thursday night, investigations by one of our correspondents showed that Secondus narrated to the NPC members how the members of the PDP were allegedly molested and denied the opportunity to cast their votes in many states.<br /> <br /> It was also gathered that Abdulsalami and members of his committee were shown video clips of how soldiers allegedly brutalised PDP members in some states and the sacking of some polling units by thugs suspected to be loyal to the ruling party without the security agents who were present taking any action.<br /> <br /> The video clips were said to have been watched by other NPC members in attendance.<br /> <br /> A source, who was at the meeting said, “At a point during the meeting, we decided to show video clips of how soldiers helped the APC to rig the elections in some states. We also showed them how security agents looked the other way when thugs invaded polling and coalition centres in some states.<br /> <br /> “We asked the retired General whether that was how he used the military to conduct the 1999 elections. But instead of replying, he laughed and laughed. I think he was trying to tell us that he is a different person or something like that.<br /> <br /> “We told him how the late Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha, did not pretend during his transition period that he wanted to be the sole candidate of all the five registered political parties then. We now said that President Buhari ought to have told Nigerians that he wanted to be the sole candidate so that we would have known how to address the matter from the outset, instead of using the military to achieve what he could not have achieved by claiming to be the sole candidate.”<br /> <br /> It was also learnt that Obi, who is a former governor of Anambra State, said he had to leave his home in his state on the eve of the election because of the activities of security men who allegedly terrorised his area.<br /> <br /> It was gathered that Atiku told the NPC members that he was surprised that they did not do anything despite all the issues raised by his party after he joined President Buhari to sign the peace agreement.<br /> <br /> He was said to have claimed that the country was already divided and that he regretted signing the peace agreement because of the events that unfolded after.<br /> <br /> “At a time, the Waziri (Atiku) became emotional. He said he regretted signing the Peace Agreement because members of the committee did not attend to complaints by the PDP after its signing and before the conduct of the elections,” another source added.

Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd); Bishop Mathew Kukah and Cardinal John Onayeikan did not persuade the aggrieved PDP leaders to drop the court option.<br /> <br /> Secondus said: “When they came, they met with us and they requested us to please state our grievances. There was no condition.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “Initially, we were not to talk with them because a decision had been taken to go to court. But because of the personalities involved, we said ok, let’s just talk.<br /> <br /> “There were no conditions and there was no request of any condition. We made it clear that unless the injustices are addressed, there is no room for peace.<br /> <br /> “It is only when you address the injustice that you can now sit down for peace.<br /> <br /> “So, whatever interpretation that was done by anybody, let it be clear to everybody that we did not give conditions, they did not request for conditions.<br /> <br /> “It was like, look, state what really happened in the election and we told them how the military took over the election and conducted the election in favour of the APC with INEC collusion”.<br /> <br /> The party chair deplored what he described as voter suppression in states considered the strongholds of the PDP, alleging that soldiers were deployed to harass, intimidate and arrest voters and party supporters in such states,<br /> <br /> He listed Rivers, Akwa Ibom, Bayelsa, and Cross Rivers as worst affected states in the alleged military siege, adding the threat by the Governor Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna State that foreign observers would go back to their country in body bags was extended to Nigerians on during the election.<br /> <br /> Secondus said: “As at the last count, over 50 Nigerians have lost their lives last Saturday, most of them from the South South region where a division of the army with their commander were turned on the people on the Election Day.<br /> <br /> “For a regime that appears comfortable with blood, the deaths they recorded during their campaigns were not enough, as after their contrived ballot box victory and stolen mandate, they still hired some hoodlums and sent them to the streets to go and kill themselves.<br /> <br /> “You can see that the nation has been in sorrowful mood for our democracy that was dragged down last Saturday, four years after the world stood up for Nigeria for not only conducting a flawless election, in addition to having a seamless transition to an opposition party.<br /> <br /> “But we all are seeing the direct beneficiary of that rare democratic disposition, General Muhammadu Buhari, using the military to rob Nigerians of their right to choose leaders of their choice”.<br /> <br /> The party chair queried the higher voter turnout in insurgency-ravaged states like Borno and Yobe above the 2015 figures, whereas states like Rivers and others in the South-south zone recorded lower voter turnout in the last election than they did in 2015.<br /> <br /> He said: “The clear effect of militarising the election, particularly in the South South and South East in addition to the killing of innocent electorate, was the obvious suppression of voters who were either scared out or chased away.<br /> <br /> “Even by INEC own record, voter turnout in last Saturday’s election fell to about 36 percent from 44 percent that it was in 2015.<br /> <br /> “The military were dragged into the election to suppress and scare away voters and facilitate rigging.<br /> <br /> “That is how you hear ridiculously that war torn Borno and Yobe states recorded higher percentage in voter turnout than some states in the South South geo- political zone.<br /> <br /> “Shamelessly, they have again started mobilizing to use the same military to forcefully take over for APC two PDP states in the South South and one state in the South East.”

Abdulasalami Abubakar, the Chairman of the committee, John Cardinal Onaiyekan and Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah.<br /> <br /> Others are PDP presidential candidate, his vice presidential candidate, Peter Obi, Senate President and D-G of PDP Presidential Campaign Council, Sen. Atiku Abubakar has presented a six-point demand to the Federal Government .</b><br /> <br /> Top on the demand was unfreezing of opposition politicians’ bank accounts. Another major demand presented to the former Head of State and Chairman of the National Peace Committee, (NPC) Geneneral Abdulsalam Abubakar (rtd) was demilitarisarion of subsequent polls.<br /> <br /> Gen. Abubakar led members of the committee to a meeting with Atiku and his running mate, Mr. Peter Obi in Abuja yesterday night. The NPC is expected to meet President Muhammadu Buhari government with the demands.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <u><br /></u><u>Other demands by Atiku were:</u><br /> <br /> <b>*That accreditation of voters should take place before voting in subsequent elections.</b><br /> <b><br /></b><b>*That there should be no deployment of the military in subsequent elections.</b><br /> <b><br /></b><b>* That INEC should open its back end server to all participating parties.</b><br /> <b><br /></b><b>*That there should be a release of all politicians detained illegally by FG.</b><br /> <br /> A source at the meeting disclosed that Atiku “warned that tensions are building up in the land.”<br /> <br /> NPC team included Cardinal John Onaiyekan, Bishop Kukah and Rev. Fr Atta Barkindo. Atiku and his team informed the group that the election of Feb 23 was the worst in 20 years since the country returned to democratic rule. and that it was marked by brazen rigging with no consideration to the will of the people.<br /> <br /> They listed the following as issues they had with the Presidential polls:<br /> <br /> <b>*Deployment of the military was unconstitutional and in breach of Supreme Court judgement. </b><br /> <b><br /></b><b>*That resultantly, a lot of malpractices between the INEC officers, the ruling party and the military took place to undermine the votes/voters of the PDP. </b><br /> <b><br /></b><b>*That there was collaboration between INEC and FG to undermine the sanctity of the votes of the people. </b><br /> <b><br /></b><b>*That this is the worst election in 20 years. Are we so stupid and ignorant in Lagos to allow one man to manipulate and maltreat us this way? The clear answer is a resounding no.<br /> <br /> “So, Lagosians, enough is enough; Lagosians arise and shine, liberate yourselves from the iron grip of one man. Stand up and free yourselves and your future from the captivity of a roguish system of power succession that lacks basic respect for the free choice of leadership.”<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Also speaking, Agbakoba noted that the movement, which is aimed at dismantling Tinubu’s stranglehold on Lagos, would not be deterred by the actions of the police.<br /> <br /> He said, “The Free Lagos Movement is a non-political movement that is aimed at ensuring that we have good governance in Lagos State. We feel that Tinubu has had his time as the emperor of Lagos since 1998, and we are trying to mobilise Lagosians to say no to the continuity of Lagos by Tinubu.<br /> <br /> “I’m not surprised that the police would come and break up the gathering, but it won’t deter us as our purpose is to build on the result of the last elections. We hope to keep the momentum and we are backing Jimi Agbaje, because we want something new.”<br /> <br /> Odumakin, who described the invasion of the gathering by the police as the “resurrection of the Sanni Abacha regime in Lagos,” urged Lagosians to vote out the APC in the gubernatorial election.<br /> <br /> When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Chike Oti, noted that movement did not notify the command about its mission, hence, the police action.<br /> <br /> He stated, “In view of the incident that happened yesterday (Wednesday) wherein some group of persons, without clearance from the police, decided to embark on a procession, and today again, we got information that a group of people would be gathering at another location.<br /> <br /> “Since we were not notified of what they wanted to do, which would have enabled us to make adequate preparation and guide them appropriately or work along with them to make the event a success, we decided to disperse everybody to prevent any incident from occurring.<br /> <br /> “Two sets of people gathered and at a point, they turned it into a riotous event and we had no option but to use a public order instrument to disperse them without any collateral damage.”
