The reports said the APC chairman was asked to step down from office.<br /> <br /> The former Edo governor was also reported to have jetted out of the country due to intense pressure from the security outfit and some state governors of his party who are currently engaged in a show of strength with him.<br /> <br /> Oshiomhole while reacting to the report on Saturday said he went to the United States to see his wife and thereafter headed for the United Kingdom to meet with Bola Tinubu, a chieftain of the ruling party, dismissing insinuations that he has been scheduled to meet again with the DSS.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Addressing selected reporters in Lagos, the former governor dismissed reports of his arrest saying he went to the DSS after being invited to turn himself in.<br /> <br /> He said his summon has to do with party primaries of the APC querying if the DSS has the right to obstruct the affairs of a political party.<br /> <br /> “Our conversation centered around APC primaries,” Oshiomhole said.<br /> <br /> He also denied insinuations that the query centered round corruption allegations thrown at him when he held sway as governor.<br /> <br /> “The question now is whether or not it is the DSS job to interfere in a political party’s issues. And if there’s an allegation of corruption, it is the responsibility of EFCC and ICPC,” he added.

It is entitled “Is a citizen of our country Nnamdi Kanu in Israel?”<br /> <br /> The lawyer said that the letter to the Ambassador for confirmation that Kanu was actually in Israel became necessary because of the story making the rounds on the social and online media that “an Nnamdl Kanu was sighted at the Wailing Wall during a prayer session in Israel.”<br /> <br /> The letter reads in part: “We are the counsel to Senator Enyinnaya Harcourt Abaribe, a distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, representing Abia South Senatorial Zone in the 8th Senate of National Assembly of Nigeria.<br /> <br /> “As a pronounced patriot, he recently, against all odds, put life into our constitutional provision of the liberty of an accused as well as eased tension in our polity by standing surety to Nnamdi Kanu (who is on trial on allegations of treasonable offences in CHARGE No. FHC/ABJ/CR/383/2015.)<br /> <br /> “In fact, to situate you properly into the salient realities involved in this national tragedy, the Nnamdi Kanu is the leader of the Indigenous Peoples of Biafra (IPOB).<br /> <br /> “On 28th April 2017, the Hon trial Court granted him bail on medical grounds and Sen. Abaribe was one of the three sureties who executed the bail bond for his release.<br /> <br /> “Your Excellency would recall that sometimes in 2017, the Nigerian Army High Command announced publicly that they were going to commence a military operation code-named “OPERATION PYTHON DANCE “(EGWU EKE) 11 in the whole of the South East Zone of Nigeria from 15th of September to 14th of October 2017.”<br /> <br /> It continued: “Curiously, selectively and tragically, from 11” to 14″ September 2017, well before the announced scheduled dates, the Nigerian Army, with truck loads of heavily armed soldiers, armoured tanks and other intimidating offensive military weapons, embarked on massive military operation exclusively at the Nnamdi Kanu’s town, lsiama, Afaraukwu lbeku Umuahia, Abia State and at his residence (the PALACE of HRH EZE ISREAL KANU) where at the material time of the tragic invasion, he was staying with his royal parents.<br /> <br /> “There and then as the invading Army left, the Nnamdl Kanu along with his parents were never seen or heard from again till today.<br /> <br /> “This explains his absence from his trial since that time till now.<br /> <br /> “Your Excellency, already before the Hon. trial Court is an Affidavit deposed to on 17th November, 2017 to the effect that:<br /> <br /> i)This fatal military invasion of town and residence of the Nnamdl Knnu climaxing on 14″ of September 201 7 resulted in high casualties as corpse’s littered all over the vicinity including In the PALACE.<br /> <br /> ii) The Nnamdi Kanu and his parents were In the PALACE at the time of the tragic invasion of the town and PALACE.<br /> iii) During the invasion, the Nnamdi Kanu and his parents were never again seen or heard from either privately or publicly till date.<br /> <br /> iv)The Nnamdi Kanu and his parents were allegedly whisked off by the invading soldiers.<br /> <br /> “The Hon. The population explosion in Nigeria is another big challenge.<br /> <br /> ‘‘The drying up of Lake Chad is a serious thing for Nigeria and the Lake Chad Basin countries. Nigeria is much more affected because fishing, animal husbandry and farming are affected very seriously.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> ‘‘We are trying to prick the conscience of the developed countries that have the resources and the technology to quickly execute the inter basin transfer from Congo Basin to Chad Basin.”<br /> <br /> According to the statement, Buhari welcomed the advocacy by NCF on the need to protect endangered plants and animals in the country and directed the Federal Ministry of Environment to reflect this in its budgetary requirements in the next fiscal year. </div>

I want to change the supply chain from Asia to Nigeria.<br /> <br /> ”For the total supply chain for cotton, textile and garment industry from weaving, spinning, printing to retail, we want to use Nigeria cotton and we have already started to encourage the creative industries in the country to find a voice and give them a platform across the world.<br /> <br /> ”I am convinced that it is time for the textile industry to move from Asia to Africa, ” he said.<br /> <br /> Also speaking, the Dutch Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr Robert Petri told President Buhari that the company’s visit was a follow-up to his successful visit to the Netherlands in July, during which he met with Chief Executive Officers of Dutch companies.<br /> <br /> ”Also during that visit, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between our two countries seeking more intensified cooperation. Abbey among others to stop crying unnecessarily on what they can not get and allow themselves to be swept away with the APC which he described as a “sinking Ship.”<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> The Bayelsa born political activist recalled how he severally warned the leadership of APC and the Presidency about the current problems befalling the party before he resigned his membership but was ignored.<br /> <br /> “The same way I warned in the past, I am calling on Governor Okorocha, Governor Yari, Governor Amosun and Sen. Abbey among many others not to stay any longer in APC. It can only get worse for the ruling party because the spirit of God has left the party.<br /> <br /> “I will urge all of them to join the next batch of prominent leaders who will soon resign their membership of APC. Some of us that have left the evil association called APC are better for it.<br /> <br /> “So, like the biblical Noah, I am warning those that have ears to hear that the current house of deception known as APC will soon collapse. The major issue is that technology is clearly going to disrupt the financial space, and is doing so already, so banks have to reform.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “They have to invest in some of the Fintech companies themselves, and they have to see this revolution as inevitable. I think that what we are seeing today is the reform around that space, and many of the banks are looking up and understanding that this is going to happen, and it’s already happening.<br /> <br /> The vice president however allayed the fears of the banks, assuring that the government will continue to work with the banks, the regulators and the Fintech companies to ensure development in the sector.<br /> <br /> “I think the first thing is to allay the fears of the banks that lunch isn’t being taken away. Banks, of course, are jittery about some of what is happening in the Fintech space.<br /> <br />  They need to be assured that this isn’t about taking their lunch but that we cannot avoid what is coming to us now.<br /> <br /> “What we are saying is that payment system, lending, all sort of financial systems, even insurance are happening much faster.” </div>

Ekweremmadu and his family.”<br /> We equally call on other security agencies to also step up their investigation to bring perpetrators to book. </div>

They were first arraigned on May 15, 2018 and charged alleged murder, culpable homicide, unlawful assembly, and disruption of public peace, among others.<br /> <br /> They have subsequently been denied bail severally while his followers have continuously been having violent clashes with the security operatives, especially the Nigerian army.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> After a bail application was entered again in court yesterday and was denied, the minister of Information had addressed some journalists where he informed them that El-Zakzaky was kept in a safe place.<br /> <br /> He however added that it costs the Nigerian government a whopping sum of N3.5 million naira a month to feed the IMN leader who is in detention.<br /> <br /> According to the minister, “the issue of whether, where he is, let’s keep it off record. He is in a residence and eating; I mean, it costs the government N3.5 million naira every month to feed him.”<br /> <br /> “I asked. We don’t want to inflame passion. Islamic Movement in Nigeria are a different kettle of fish.”<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, MR. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development will contribute N11,057,594,240; Education, N10,238,444,433; Budget and National Planning, N8,845,154,871; Health, N8,059,195,896; Science and Technology, N7,466,143,244; and Industry, Trade and Investment, N7,085,582,899.<br /> <br /> The Presidency, which had N59,343,353,082 appropriated for it in 2018, had N1,247,843,520 taken from its budget.<br /> <br /> Out of the N242bn for the elections, INEC gets N189,007,272,393, while the Office of the National Security Adviser and security agencies get N53,237,777,707.<br /> <br /> President Muhammadu Buhari had in a letter to the National Assembly dated July 11, 2018, presented a N228bn supplementary budget to the National Assembly, asking the legislature to re-allocate part of the N578bn voted to the projects inserted into the 2018 Appropriation Act by the lawmakers to fund the exercise.</div>

Kadima be tried when a video showing him drunk at Akowonjo in Alimosho Local Government Area of Lagos went viral.<br /> <br /> He was seen drunk on Instablog9ja.<br /> <br /> Another Inspector, Emmanuel Egba, who was seen with a bottle of beer at Ogunronbi Road, Idimu, Lagos, was warned.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Egba’s picture was published by a national daily in September.<br /> <br /> It was learnt that Idris directed Lagos State Police Commissioner Imohimi Edgal to act on Kadima’s case when his attention was drawn to the video.<br /> <br /> The inspector was said to have been traced to Ikeja where he was apprehended and tried.<br /> <br /> He was said to have confessed that he was the one in the video during the Orderly Room trial.<br /> <br /> A statement by the command’s spokesman, Chike Oti, a Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP), gave Kadima’s number as 176219<br /> <br /> The statement reads in part: “The attention of IGP Ibrahim Idris has been drawn to a video of Lagos policeman who got drunk at Akowonjo, Dopemu area of Lagos. He directed CP Edgal to fish out the erring policeman for appropriate disciplinary action.<br /> <br /> “The policeman, who was stupefied after guzzling large quantity of alcoholic beverage, was located and apprehended today (yesterday) at Police Mobile Force Squadron 22 Base, Ikeja, where he served as the Command Provost. He was identified as Inspector Kadima Useni with appointment number 176219.<br /> <br /> “During interrogation, the officer affirmed that he was the one in the video. He was, therefore, tried in orderly room and summarily dismissed to act as a deterrent to others.”<br /> <br /> The CP has ordered that beer parlours in the police barracks be shut to avert a recurrence.<br /> <br /> “CP Edgal warns against offering policemen alcoholic drinks while on duty by members of the public. He added that henceforth any policeman found drunk on duty would be visited with similar punishment,” Oti said.<br /> <br /> Egba, attached to Area ‘M’ Command, Idimu, Lagos, was arrested on September 13 for holding a bottle of beer on duty.<br /> <br /> He was questioned by some senior officers, but denied the allegation, stating that he recovered the beer bottle with liquid content from a motorist, who was drinking right inside his car.<br /> <br /> “He (Egba) feared that the driver might get himself intoxicated, thereby endangering his life and that of other road users,” he said.<br /> <br /> “The case is, however, being investigated at the Command Provost Section and if his claim is found to be false, appropriate disciplinary action will be meted out to him after an Orderly Room Trial,” he said.<br /> <br /> Oti said Egba was warned because “no one saw him drinking. He told me to keep her dead body inside the room for two days but I was caught when I could no longer keep it.<br /> <br /> “I did not know that my grandmother was sitting outside. She opened the door and sighted me with the corpse inside the room and raised the alarm that drew the attention of the public. My mother did not offend me. I killed her because of the money,” he said.<br /> <br /> On his part, Odion Jimoh who beheaded his victim, said he did not know what came on him before he committed the murder.<br /> <br /> “Honestly, the man did not do anything to me. I don’t know what came over me,” he said.<br /> <br /> Police sources had it that the victim who worked as a carpenter, was contracted to work at a house where met the suspect weeding, and asked him why he was not at the community age-group festival.<br /> <br /> It was gathered that the suspect, who was already high after smoking substance suspected to be marijuana, felt slighted and humiliated by the victim’s action, and went after him, hit him on the neck with a wooden object before beheading him with a cutlass.<br /> <br /> The source added that the suspect was later arrested at an uncompleted building, after the man who contracted the victim raised the alarm when he discovered the lifeless body of the man and his head beside him.

We know in this country that Bola Ige was killed in his home. We know and also it is a fact the former gubernatorial candidate, Funsho Williams was also killed in his home.<br /> <br /> “Our fear today is why the police are engaging in a cover up? Why is the police continually at any time that it concerns people that do not have presidential oversight or cover, they quickly come out and have a report,” the senator queried.<br /> <br /> Ekweremadu said a Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of operations visited his house with the FCT Police Commissioner on Tuesday afternoon to sympathise with him.<br /> <br /> “I showed them round and of course they were very sympathetic of what happened.”<br /> <br /> He also informed the Senate that he was shocked when he woke up yesterday morning to hear police saying that what happened in his house was “a mere case of burglary”.<br /> <br /> Ekweremadu said: “I am at a loss because as we speak, they have not taken any statement from my son, who was hospitalised; they have not gone to the hospital to find out what exactly happened to my son. They have invited security personnel attached to me, who reported yesterday. Some are still reporting this morning.<br /> <br /> “They (the Police) looked at the CCTV tapes operated by the DSS and a staff of my house; apparently they were not able to figure it out. So, it was easy for them to quickly dismiss what really happened.”<br /> <br /> He noted that he has been able to figure out the correct picture of what happened and added that he now has the video clip.<br /> <br /> “Unfortunately for them, later yesterday evening, a technician came and was able to figure out and was able to produce the CCTV footage, including how they gained entrance into my house and how they got a way into my room and the fight between them, my wife and my son and all the efforts we made to save our lives. I am happy that we have that in our custody, which the police is not aware of.<br /> <br /> He added: “I may now be forced to release those footage to the media, international communities so that Nigerians and ordinary people will judge whether it was a case of burglary or attempt to kill me or whether they just want to come to my house to have a breakfast or have a handshake with me.”<br /> <br /> The House of Representatives also yesterday resolved to constitute an ad hoc Committee to investigate the alleged assassination attempt on Deputy Senate President Ike Ekweremadu and members of his family.<br /> <br /> The committee is also mandated to find out the circumstances surrounding the late response of the Police to the emergency.<br /> <br /> The committee is to report back to the House in two weeks for further legislative action.<br /> <br /> The chamber also urged the relevant security agencies to ensure increased security surveillance around the Deputy Senate President as well as other members of the National Assembly.

Mr. President will consider it and will make his views known in due course,” the minister said.<br /> <br /> Pressed for more comments, he added: “I said a recommendation was submitted. Mr. President will get back to the committee after he has studied the recommendation.”<br /> <br /> On the possibility of reviewing the revenue sharing formula should the new minimum wage be approved to enable the states to pay, the minister said: “Once again, like I said, a recommendation has been made and in responding to the recommendation, all these views will be taken into consideration.”<br /> <br /> A presidential source, who preferred not to be named, said the President had not endorsed N30, 000 as proposed by the committee and as being reported by some sections of the media.<br /> <br /> The source, however, confirmed that President Buhari expressed commitment to ensuring the implementation of a new National Minimum Wage.<br /> <br /> It said: “But the President’s speech at the event was immediately made available to the media and nowhere indicated that the President endorsed N30, 000 minimum wage.<br /> <br /> “It is not the duty of the President only to endorse a new national minimum wage. The process involves the Federal Executive Council (FEC), the National Economic Council (NEC) and the National Assembly.<br /> <br /> “It is imperative for us to always avoid misinterpreting a written speech.’’<br /> <br /> President Buhari had pledged that the Federal Government would soon transmit an Executive Bill (on National Minimum Wage) to the National Assembly for its passage within the shortest possible time.<br /> <br /> He said: “Our plan is to transmit the Executive bill to the National Assembly for its passage within the shortest possible time.<br /> <br /> “I am fully committed to having a new National Minimum Wage Act in the very near future.’’
