Popular musician turned politician, Bankole Wellington, of the Modern Democratic Party, garnered 186 votes at the polling unit at the Victoria Garden City, Lagos, defeating the All Progressives Congress which got 167 votes.<br />
<br />
It was the same polling unit where Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, and his wife, Dolapo, cast their votes earlier on Saturday.<br />
<br />
Wellington, who goes by the stage name Banky W, took the second position at the polling unit as the Peoples Democratic Party candidate, Omotesho Bakare, had the highest number of votes which was 244.<br />

Banky W, who is the candidate of the MDP, is a first-timer in politics and is contesting against Babajide Obanikoro, the first son of a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro of the APC and Bakare of the PDP.

This was after a recount of votes by officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).<br />

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, has won the elections in the polling units at the Presidential Villa, Abuja<br />
<br />
The Villa has two polling units: PU 021 and 022.<br />
<br />
Mr Abubakar scored 505 votes in PU 021 while the president scored 552 votes.<br />
<br />
In PU 022, Mr Abubakar scored 525 votes and the president had 465.<br />

In all, the PDP presidential candidate polled 1,030 votes against the president's 1017 votes.<br />
<br />
For the Senate, PDP scored 536 votes in PU 021 while the APC scored 532 votes.<br />
<br />
In PU 022, the PDP won the opposition party by 546 to 477 votes.<br />
<br />
Together for the Senate, the PDP scored 1082 votes while the APC scored 1009 votes.<br />
<br />
For the House of Representatives, PDP had 525 votes while APC got 531 votes in PU 021.<br />
<br />
The PDP also scored 521 votes in PU 022 while the APC had 464 votes.<br />
<br />
In total, for the House of Representatives, the PDP scored 1046 votes while the APC scored 995 votes<br />
<br />
The results were confirmed and announced by the polling officers hours after voting ended.<br />
<br />
Earlier, the president defeated Mr Abubakar in the latter's polling unit by a slim margin.<br />
<br />
President Buhari had on Saturday morning reaffirmed his confidence in winning the presidential election.<br />
<br />
Mr Buhari told reporters shortly after voting at Kofar Baru, Sarkin Yara “A” ward in Daura, his home town, that he would win the election and congratulate himself.<br />
<br />
Mr Abubakar made a similar assurance of victory after he voted in Adamawa State.

Brave and vigilant voters have allegedly resisted an attempt by three persons to snatch a ballot box in Edo State.<br />
<br />
The incident allegedly occurred at Ugiomon secondary school, Ikpoba-Okha local government area, where ward 6, unit 44 are located.<br />
<br />
Security operatives deployed at the polling center were said to have called for backup, when the gun-wielding hoodlums attempted to snatch the ballot box.<br />
<br />
The attempt was however resisted by brave voters who stood their ground before the arrival of the police backup.<br />
<br />
It was however gathered that the hoodlums took to their heels and escaped into the bush.<br />

A man who claimed to be APC youth leader in the area, Mr. Osarobor Idahosa, alleged that the hoodlums were members of the opposition party.<br />

“There was a misunderstanding before now. Some boys were trying to hijack the ballot box, that was why the security people came in and the matter has been settled.<br />
<br />
“The boys came with guns, they were about three, and I think they are PDP members.<br />
<br />
“Everything was cool and calm before they came but the crowd resisted them before the security personnel came to intervene,” he said.

<div style="text-align: justify;">Saraki however won his own polling unit at Agbaji Quarters, Ajikobi Ward, Ilorin West LGA and also delivered for Atiku Abubakar.</div>

Police have confirmed the release of the abducted member of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) deployed to Indiokolo community in Orumba area of Anambra as electoral ad hoc staff.<br />

Also, the state coordinator of NYSC, Mr Aremu Kehinde, told News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) that the female corps had regained her freedom more than five hours after her abduction.<br />
<br />
Kehinde said the corps member was in good health condition after her release by her abductors, who are yet to be arrested by security personnel.<br />
<br />
A statement signed by SP Haruna Mohammed, the Command’s Public Relations Officer (PPRO) and made available to journalists on Saturday in Awka stated that the corps member serving as a presiding Officer was picked up early Saturday morning.<br />
<br />
Mohammed explained that the police arrested seven persons in connection with vote buying and disruption of electoral process.<br />

The PPRO, who quoted CP Rabiu Ladodo as leader of the security team that monitored the exercise at Anambra on Aerial and Vehicular patrols, described the election as generally peaceful.<br />

He noted that in spite of the peaceful and impressive turnout, there were isolated cases of insecurity.<br />
<br />
“There are few isolated incidents recorded such as ballot box snatching at Onuma imeobi Square ward Six unit 4 Onitsha, vote buying, disruption of election in some polling units.<br />
<br />
“We also recorded alleged abduction of the presiding officer, who is also a youth corps member in Indiokolo unit, Orumba North LGA of Anambra South Senatorial zone,’’ he said.<br />
<br />
Mohammed equally stated that the command equally arrested two armed Police mobile personnel on illegal duty.<br />
<br />
He said that all the cases are under investigations at the State CIID, Awka.<br />
<br />
He hinted that the police recovered one mini shuttle bus, two motorcycles, N110, 920 two handbags containing dry leaves suspected to be cannabis and, two knives from the suspects.<br />
<br />
Mohammed urged the public to report any incident or suspected persons, especially on what will lead to the arrest of the criminals that abducted a corps member through the Police emergency numbers availed to the public for prompt response.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Saturday won the election in the polling unit of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s chieftain, Bode George.<br />

George voted in his Ward E2, polling unit 001, in Oko-Faji, Lagos Island area and said the election was peaceful.<br />

However when the results were announced by INEC officials, PDP lost the presidential election at the polling unit, scoring 40 while APC got 84 votes.<br />
<br />
He condemned the alleged attacks on the agents of his party in some areas of Lagos, and called for an immediate investigation and arrest of suspected political thugs involved.<br />

About six persons were feared killed in Abonnema, Akoku-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State during Saturday’s election in Rivers State.<br />

This is just as the State Police Command confirmed the killing of a soldier during a shootout in the area.<br />
<br />
Though the State Police Public Relations Office could not give details of how the soldier was killed, it was gathered that gunmen suspected to be political thugs shot and killed the soldier.<br />

It was also gathered that two civilians sustained serious gunshot injuries while guns blazed in Abonnema.<br />

A presiding officer and a youth corp member in Indiokolo unit, Orumba North Local Government Area of Anambra South Senatorial Zone in Anambra State were abducted on Saturday during the general elections in the state.<br />

Although the elections in Anambra was generally described as peaceful, it was, however, gathered that there were few isolated incidents of electoral violations in the state.<br />
<br />
The Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Police Command, Rabiu Ladodo, while providing the election update in the state, noted that some persons were kidnapped during the electioneering process.<br />
<br />
He said, “I have gone round the State along with heads of other security agencies both on aerial and vehicular patrols in order to assess levels of deployment by the security agencies at various polling units and to ensure that the electorate exercise their franchise without hindrance.<br />
<br />
“The election is generally peaceful and all the places visited have witnessed significant turnout of voters amid tight security in the areas.<br />

“However, despite the relative peace recorded so far, there are few isolated incidents recorded such as ballot box snatching at Onuma Imeobi Square Ward Six Unit 4 Onitsha, vote buying, disruption of election in some polling units, alleged abduction of a presiding officer and a youth corp member in Indiokolo unit, Orumba North LGA of Anambra South Senatorial Zone.”<br />
<br />
Ladodo noted that consequently, the command had arrested seven suspects in connection with vote buying and disruption of electoral process.

All Progressives Congress stalwart, Bola Tinubu, has told those asking questions about the presence of bullion vans at his residence in Bourdillon, Ikoyi, to mind their business, adding that he can keep his money wherever he wants.<br />

Tinubu said this while fielding questions from journalists shortly after casting his vote.<br />
<br />
Some pictures had gone viral on social media on Friday showing two bullion vans making their way into Tinubu’s premises.<br />
<br />
According to rumours, the vans allegedly contained either ballot papers or huge sums of money which would be used for the elections.<br />
<br />
Responding to a question, however, the former governor of Lagos State said he was not a government contractor and therefore had the right to spend his money as he pleased.<br />
<br />
Tinubu, however, said the money was not for vote buying.<br />

He said, “Excuse me, is it my money or government money? I don’t work for the government. I am not in an agency of government and let anyone come out to say I have collected contract from the government of President Muhammadu Buhari or the APC in the last five years. They should prove it.<br />

“I am on my own and I am committed to my party. So, even if I have money to spend on my premises, what is your headache? If I don’t represent any agency of government and I have money to spend, if I like, I give it to the people free of charge as long as it is not to buy votes.<br />
<br />
“Who are those monitoring my house or bullion vans? They must be mischief makers because they report falsehood. They are liars and idle.”<br />
<br />
Tinubu had last week stirred controversy when he promised huge sums of money to party faithful if the APC wins Saturday’s elections.<br />
<br />
He had also boasted that he was indeed richer than Osun State and that Buhari did not have the kind of money he could steal.<br />
<br />
Tinubu had said, “Buhari doesn’t have the kind of money I can steal neither does he have the money I can collect. He doesn’t even have the money for Lagos votes. So, whatever I promise, it’s for real and is coming from my pocket. It’s not until I go to Alausa before I get money to give you.<br />
<br />
“Those of you that say you come to Bourdillon for mobilisation, it is mobilisation that we are doing here or don’t you understand? Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, our members, how we used to do.<br />
<br />
“They would surround me like the way ants surround sugar but they duped me; calling for mobilisation funds as if they are not all from the same neighbourhood.<br />
<br />
“For this one, even if your footwear is worn-out, as long as you can deliver on votes, I guarantee that I’ll pay you money that will surprise you. May we not lack!<br />
<br />
“Definitely, if you know people in your neighbourhood, who are our members, you should be able to call them out. If you’re a registered member, go out and vote. Vote and let it be much, and when I see the result, that’s when I’ll bring out money that is worthwhile for you.”

He however lamented that the voting process has been very slow. “A couple of the card readers are having battery issues because the batteries have run down and they did not have recharge. We learnt they are bringing rechargeable batteries and all of that. The voting process has been very slow and I hope they can speed up the process before voters start getting agitated due to the delays,” he said.<br />

Durotoye, who said he did not vote for himself but “for my party and for a new Nigeria,” said the country is at a juncture which requires “a new direction for our nation and the new generation that will lead us there.”<br />

He expressed hope that the votes would count. “We hope the process will go well. As we see here. The process is peaceful. We hope that our votes will count and it will be a free, fair and credible election. We have an opportunity to vote new leaders and I hope that is what we are doing,” he said.

<div style="text-align: justify;">PDP called on INEC to allow manual voting, “as is going on in Niger and Jigawa States” in the South East and South South and to extend voting time to allow all voters with registered PVC to vote today.</div>

<div style="text-align: justify;">“As per the list of polling units which PDP provided to INEC last week, the Card Readers ‘upgraded’ by Activate Technologies in PDP strongholds have been made to slow down or not work at all.</div>

He said this after casting his vote at polling unit 033 in Victoria Garden City (VGC), his country home in Lagos. “This administration will do everything it said. We are going to accept the outcome of a free, fair and credible poll.<br />

That is democracy. Let the voting process be peaceful. Cast your vote and encourage others to do the same. Let it remain as peaceful as it can. If the election is free and fair and everybody says it is free and fair, then we must accept the result,” he said.<br />

The Vice President, who said his vote is not different from the vote of every other Nigerian, said he and President Buhari are very confident of winning reelection.<br />

The presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Atiku Abubakar promised on Saturday to accept results of the presidential elections provided the polls are credible.<br />

He spoke after voting in his Ajiya ward polling unit in Jimeta, Yola.<br />
<br />
Atiku said as a democrat, he has no problem with accepting poll results.<br />
<br />
“I am a true democrat unlike others. So far so good,” he said.<br />
<br />
Atiku, who had a brief chat with reporters after casting his vote at the Unit 012 in Ajiya Ward near one of his houses at Old GRA, Jimeta, reiterated that although he was sure he would win, he would accept defeat if the conduct of the poll turned out to be transparently free and fair.<br />

He expressed satisfaction with the turnout of voters to exercise their right during the polls hoped all those election officials would do their jobs in all honesty.<br />
<br />
“I am impressed with the turnout of the voters. I hope the electoral officers would be able to cope with the crowd,” Atiku said.<br />
<br />
Alhaji Auwal Tukur, a former governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), also said he was satisfied with the turnout of the electorate to vote.<br />
<br />
He said last Saturday’s postponement appears not to have had impact on voter turnout this time.<br />
<br />
“I am certain with all that I have seen so far that everything will be well. Where challenges are noticed I am sure it would be resolved,” he said.

National leader, All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu voted at his polling unit 047 at Sunday Adigun, Alausa in Ikeja on Saturday and said the party will accept the outcome of a free a fair election.<br />

Tinubu said a true democrat would accept the outcome of a free and fair election if the party should lose.<br />
<br />
“I will accept the result of the election if we lose, that is the people’s verdict, any democrat that cannot accept the result of a free and fair contest is not worthy of the name being call a democrat. He must be able to accept the result of a free and fair election,” he said.<br />
<br />
He, however, expressed determination that the APC would win the election.<br />
<br />
“Winning is my hope and determination for my party; we are winning because we have the support of the masses, look back at our rally, that is an indication who has the populace, we are not talking about the elite, the rich, but the traders, artisans and the common man,” he said.<br />

According to him, if the opposition rejected the outcome of the election, it showed they were not democrats, and that “they don’t believe in the value and philosophy, you can see their desperation.”<br />

Tinubu also said the election had been successful so far, and that this demonstrated the resiliency of Nigerians,<br />

He said he would give the electorate the credit because despite the fact that their hope was dashed last week when the election was postponed, they still came out in large number to cast their votes.<br />

Tinubu also commended INEC for doing a great job.<br />
<br />
“I am satisfy with what INEC is doing so far, You don’t drive yourself like a vehicle, you can easily develop fuel problem on the highway,” he said, adding that INEC’s challenges so far had to do with the problem of nature.<br />
<br />
When asked that a bullion van was spotted entering his house on Friday, Tinubu said “Bullion vans, are those ballot papers? Is it my money or government? I don’t work for government, let anybody come out and say I have taken contract from Buhari in the last five years, let them prove it. If I have money to spend in my house, what is your business? Who are those watching my house? They are mischief makers.”
