It provides for up to three-year jail term for such offenders.<br /> <br /> Mrs Adeosun’s official credentials obtained show that the minister parades a purported NYSC exemption certificate, which was issued in September 2009, granting her exemption from the mandatory service on account of age.<br /> <br /> Mrs Adeosun graduated from the Polytechnic of East London in 1989, at the age of 22. According to her curriculum vitae, Mrs Adeosun was born in March 1967.<br /> <br /> The institution changed name to University of East London in 1992. Mrs Adeosun has her certificate issued in the new name.<br /> <br /> Having graduated at 22, it is obligatory for Mrs Adeosun to participate in the one-year national service, for her to qualify for any job in Nigeria.<br /> <br /> However, at the time of her graduation, the young Folakemi Oguntomoju, as she then was, did not return to Nigeria to serve her fatherland.<br /> <br /> Upon graduation in 1989, the Applied Economics graduate pursued fast-paced career in the British public and private sectors.<br /> <br /> She first landed a job at British Telecoms, but left after a year to join Goodman Jones, an accounting and investment firm, as audit officer. She served there till 1993.<br /> <br /> In 1994, Mrs Adeosun joined London Underground Company as Internal Audit Manager, before switching to Prism Consulting, a finance firm, where she worked between 1996 until 2000.<br /> <br /> In 2000, Mrs Adeosun was hired by PricewaterhouseCoopers, where she worked for two years.<br /> <br /> When she eventually returned to Nigeria in 2002, Mrs Adeosun still did not deem it necessary to participate in the NYSC scheme. She simply accepted a job offer at a private firm, Chapel Hill Denham.<br /> <br /> However, ostensibly concerned that she might run into trouble for skipping the mandatory scheme, Mrs Adeosun, sometime in 2009, procured a fake exemption certificate.<br /> <br /> Mrs Adeosun’s ‘certificate’ is dated September 9, 2009, and was purportedly signed by Yusuf Bomoi, a former director-general of the corps.<br /> <br /> Officials said Mr. Bomoi stepped down from the NYSC in January 2009, and could not have signed any certicate for the corps eight months after. The retired brigadier general passed on in September 2017.<br /> <br /> Using that fake certificate, Mrs Adeosun went on to clinch high-profile jobs at Quo Vadis Partnerships (managing director), Ogun State Government (commissioner for finance), and Federal Government of Nigeria (minister of finance).<br /> <br /> By the provision of Section 12 of the NYSC Act, employers must demand NYSC certificates from prospective employees. The law also mandates employees to present only genuine certificates for that purpose.<br /> <br /> Section 12 of the Act reads:<br /> <br /> “For the purposes of employment anywhere in the Federation and before employment, it shall be the duty of every prospective employer to demand and obtained from any person who claims to have obtained his first degree at the end of the academic year 1973-74 or, as the case may be, at the end of any subsequent academic year the following:-<br /> <br /> <blockquote class="tr_bq">a. a copy of the Certificate of National Service of such person issued pursuant to section 11 of this Decree </blockquote> <blockquote class="tr_bq">b. a copy of any exemption certificate issued to such person pursuant to section 17 of this Decree </blockquote> <blockquote class="tr_bq">c. such other particulars relevant there to as may be prescribed by or under this Decree.”</blockquote> <br /> A lawyer, Sagir Gezawa, described jobs Mrs Adeosun has had in Nigeria as illegal.<br /> <br /> “The combined effect of sections 12 and 13 of the NYSC Act is that it is illegal to hire a person who graduated but failed to make himself or herself available to serve, or falsify any document to the effect that he or she has served or exempted from serving.”<br /> <br /> However, without demanding or verifying the veracity of the certificate presented by Mrs Adeosun, two Nigerian companies, the Ogun State Government and the Federal Government of Nigeria employed her at various times.<br /> <br /> On becoming governor in 2011, Ibikunle Amosun nominated her into his cabinet. She proceeded to serve as commissioner of finance for four years.<br /> <br /> In November 2015, Mrs Adeosun was sworn in as minister by President Muhammadu Buhari, and assigned the all-important finance ministry, after a supposed security and Senate screening.<br /> <br /> The State Security Service, charged with vetting appointees to top government positions, failed to detect that her NYSC certificate was fake.<br /> <br /> The Senate, which received the fake certificate as part of the documents Mrs Adeosun submitted for her confirmation hearing, detected the discrepancy.<br /> <br /> But it nonetheless proceeded to clear her for the top office. Those familiar with the matter said the leadership of the National Assembly used that information to blackmail and extort Mrs Adeosun for years.

That is why on occasions like this, I can safely assure the TUC and NLC that if you hear any voice within the APC family talking in a way as to suggest that President Buhari’s government will superintend over abolition of the National Minimum Wage, that will be the individual’s wishful thinking. President Muhammadu Buhari will not dismantle any of the gains that the working class has achieved over the years.<br /> <br /> “One of which is the idea of a National Minimum Wage to provide a social club below which no Nigerian workers should be engaged. I think there is no better evidence of this than the fact that even at a time many people were calling for the abolition of the National Minimum Wage, President Buhari decided to set up a panel to review upward the existing National Minimum Wage. As they say, action speaks louder than words.”<br /> <br /> The APC National Chairman expressed his resolve to use his position to influence government policies in a way that will benefit the Nigerian worker. Oshiomhole also said President Buhari remained committed to worker’s welfare, the fight against corruption and the unity of the country, despite resistance from a section of the political elite.<br /> <br /> Oshiomhole: “My understanding of the Nigerian condition is deepened by the fact that I had the opportunity as a factory worker and an industrial union leader and later as President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC). I am very proud when people acknowledge that what qualifies me for the present position is the rich trade union background where I was able to manage a pan-Nigeria institution and mobilise the people for a good course without recourse to ethnic, religious and primordial sentiments.<br /> <br /> “That is the challenge of the political class today because many are still afflicted by these primordial sentiments. As an insider and now a key player in the governing Party, I am very clear that my responsibility is to influence policies in a way that will benefit the Nigerian worker. There is no sitting on the fence because government is the management of sets of biases. Even though he is not a former union person, those who are familiar with his policies, know that his source of strength is the ordinary people, the masses, the poorest of the poor. If he has strong opponents, it is among the establishment, a section of the political elite who do not agree with his rigid commitment to anti-corruption.<br /> <br /> “President Buhari and the APC government believe in the unity of the Nigerian worker. At a time when a good section of the political class has become ethnic champions, religious bigots and divisive tendencies, President Buhari believes we need pan-Nigerian institutions; people who organise, mobilise and affiliate above all these primordial sentiments, which the labour movement represents.<br /> <br /> “You can count on this government that nothing will be done to undermine the unity of Nigerian workers. I will be your in-house agent to ensure that governance and government instrument are used for the good of the greatest number of our people in the shortest possible time.”<br /> <br /> Speaking earlier, the TUC President, Comrade Bobboi Bala Kaigama assured the APC National Chairman of TUC’s support and cooperation. Kaigama described Oshiomhole as a bridge-builder.<br /> <br /> Kaigama: “We are from your primary constituency and as a movement, when one of us is opportune to be elevated to a position of what we call national service, we need to really congratulate you, identify with you, solidarise with you and to show you that the Labour movement is one, indivisible. The movement is solidly behind you. We do know that you have been elected to your current position based on the fact that you have an organisational background and that organisational background is the trade union background where we organise and mobilise for the betterment of the nation.<br /> <br /> “And if one of us can be given the opportunity of being the national chairman of a governing party, it shows that we have a bridge-builder in government. We now have a voice unlike before. We now have a bridge were if there are one or two constraints, we have an easy ride through it so that we serve our nation better.<br /> <br /> “May the God that brought you this far continue to protect you. I am sure that as an ambassador of the labour movement, you will continue to perform your role and duty as we know it in the Trade Union Congress and by extension, the Nigeria Labour Congress, we say a big congratulation. What does he mean by the right time? What and when is that?<br /> <br /> “What constitutional provision barred the Ndigbo from contesting for the presidency? Whereas civil servants retire at 60, Buhari is contesting at 76. He is not Almighty God, the creator of the Igbo.”<br /> <br /> The group stated that the Igbo would not be swayed by Buhari’s promise, saying, “At any rate, the Ndigbo will vote wisely according to their conscience.”<br /> <br /> The Country Administrator of the Southern Nigeria Forum and leader of the Njiko Igbo Forum, Revd. Okechukwu Obioha, said Buhari could never support an Igbo to succeed him, but only made the promise to receive votes in 2019.<br /> <br /> Obioha stated that the promise would not amount to voting for the President.<br /> <br /> He said, “Who is talking of Igbo Presidency by 2023 from Buhari or the All Progressives Congress for that matter? The proof of the pudding is in the eating. Anything Buhari promises to do for the Igbo is a Greek gift.”<br /> <br /> In the same vein, the Movement for the Actualisation of the Sovereign State of Biafra insisted that Buhari hated the Igbo; hence he (Buhari) would never support an Igbo to become president.<br /> <br /> MASSOB’s National Director of Information, Mr. Samuel Edeson, urged the Ndigbo not to vote for Buhari in 2019.<br /> <br /> He said, “Buhari is just trying to deceive those who are gullible enough to believe him. Remember that he made a lot of promises before the 2015 elections which he has not fulfilled.<br /> <br /> “The Igbo should not take him seriously. I urge the Ndigbo not to support him. They should not vote for him in 2019. MASSOB is not even interested in the presidency of Nigeria; we want Biafra as an independent country.”<br /> <br /> The President of the National Youth Council, Ebonyi State, Mr. Sam Igwe, described President Buhari’s promise as unfortunate, saying it was purely to seek votes.<br /> <br /> He said, “We have resolved that President Buhari should not seek re-election and should not rule Nigeria again. He does not believe in the existence of Igboland.<br /> <br /> “The recent recognition of Chief MKO Abiola by the presidency as the winner of the June 12, 1993 election and the honour bestowed on Alhaji Babagana Kingibe, without the inclusion of Prof. Humphrey Nwosu, the then-Chairman of the National Electoral Commission who risked his life during the conduct of the election, is unacceptable.”<br /> <br /> The Organising Secretary of the Labour Party in Imo State, Igboayaka Ogboayaka, said no amount of political oratory would cajole the Igbo people into supporting a government that had marginalised the ethnic group race for a second term in office.</div>

Where is the restructuring we promised Nigerians? They hurriedly came up with a committee headed by Governor (Nasir) el-Rufai; where has that landed us?<br /> <br /> “The Vice-President is a supporter of restructuring. The President of the country is not a supporter of restructuring in the same government. There is no synergy. There is no coordination on any issue.<br /> <br /> “You have about three or four opinions from the same government; that is not the way to lead.<br /> <br /> “When the Fulani herdsmen issue came up in Benue State, the Inspector General of Police came up with a different position; the Minister of Defence gave a different position; and the Presidency is giving a different position.”<br /> <br /> The New Peoples Democratic Party bloc in the APC and other aggrieved members of the ruling party, had on Wednesday announced the formation of the R-APC.<br /> <br /> R-APC, at a press conference attended by the leader of the nPDP, Alhaji Kawu Baraje, announced Alhaji Buba Galadima, a former ally of Buhari, as its national chairman.<br /> <br /> The National Chairman of the APC, Adams Oshiomhole, had in an interview with journalists on Thursday dismissed the R-APC.<br /> <br /> Reacting to Oshiomhole’s claims that the R-APC members were mercenaries hired to destabilise the APC, Afegbua said they were genuine members of the party interested in retrieving the party from usurpers.<br /> <br /> Afegbua, said, “Adams Oshiomhole needs to take a look at our past. We do not possess the characteristics of hirelings or mercenaries.<br /> <br /> “We are bona fide members of the APC. When it is convenient for people, they dress you in very elegant robes but when they are losing the battle, they call you names, but we will not call them names, we will continue to insist that we are going to rescue the APC and reposition it for optimum performance.<br /> <br /> “We cannot be preaching to be progressives when we are law-breakers. Samson Ayokunle made the announcement in a statement  signed by Pastor Adebayo Oladeji, his Special Assistant, Media and Communication.<br /> <br /> However, Ayokunle said the three-day prayer and fasting would hold as scheduled from July 9 to 11, 2018 in all churches and state chapters of CAN.<br /> <br /> He disclosed that the church and denominational leaders would come to the National Christian Centre together with the National Executive Committee, of CAN on the July 11 at 10am to pray to God for the nation.<br /> <br /> The leadership of CAN had declared July 9 to 11 as National Day of prayers and fasting programme against the killings across the country.<br /> <br /> The association also called on all Nigerians, both within and outside the country to take part in the programme.<br /> <br /> The association said the decision was hinged on the wilful and persistent killings of fellow citizens in general and Christians in particular, mostly in Plateau and Benue states where mass burial has become the norm.<br /> <br /> “CAN is worried, disturbed and disappointed that despite all the clarion calls on President Muhammadu Buhari to re-organise his security team by replacing all  the security chiefs, he has consistently not responded to such calls,” the association said.<br /> <br /></div>

Hon. Yakubu Dogara if they make up their minds to defect.<br /> <br /> Investigation by our correspondent revealed that ex-Governor Liyel Imoke Contact and Mobilization Committee has briefed the National Working Committee (NWC) on talks with R-APC leadership and others willing to defect to PDP.<br /> <br /> It was learnt that although the NWC has received insights on substantial part of the report of the Imoke Committee, a formal submission was being awaited.<br /> <br /> A reliable source, who spoke in confidence, said: “All is set to welcome R-APC leaders, members and other political leaders into PDP before the beginning of primaries into elective offices as from August 18.<br /> <br /> “The Liyel Imoke Committee has done fantastic work and we are all excited about the prospect of a revitalised and stronger PDP.<br /> <br /> “With most issues resolved in favour of R-APC and other defectors, the only four pegs of negotiation left are about conceding state party structure to R-APC on 60 to 40 per cent basis; automatic ticket; a change of name by PDP; and governorship ticket in some states.<br /> <br /> “The committee recommended that 60 per cent of party structure at the ward, local government and state level should be given to R-APC while 40 per cent is left for old members.”<br /> <br /> The source said the committee took into account the electoral value of the defecting R-APC leaders and the need to integrate the defectors into the PDP structure. But he said that state chairmen are opposed to the 60-40 per cent ratio.<br /> <br /> “They said if the PDP leadership was serious, it should also allow a 60-40 per cent formula at the NWC level. This means that some National Working Committee members would have to sacrifice their mandate. We are managing it with maturity but state chairmen have not been convinced.<br /> <br /> “Some party leaders and state chairmen are claiming that ex-Vice President Atiku Abubakar did not re-join the party with terms. They are claiming that the R-APC leaders are demanding too much,” he said.<br /> <br /> On the question of automatic ticket, the source said: “All our leaders have accepted to concede only the Office of the President of the Senate to Dr. Bukola Saraki and the Speaker of the House of Representatives or a senatorial ticket to Rt. Hon. Yakubu Dogara if they make up their minds to defect.<br /> <br /> “As for other aspirants for elective offices, they are to contest with other candidates based on local peculiarities, including the popularity of the defectors, power rotation formula, and the mood of the electorate.<br /> <br /> “For example, some PDP leaders are pushing for automatic ticket for Senator Dino Melaye, but some parts of Kogi West Senatorial District said the Ijumu-Gbede axis will be holding on to the seat for 16 years if Melaye gets the slot. Senator Smart Adeyemi (from Iyara Ijumu) was the occupant of the seat for eight years.<br /> <br /> “There is, however, a strong case for Senator Melaye. The party may persuade the aggrieved parts of the senatorial district to concede it to Melaye.<br /> <br /> “The R-APC leaders are however seeking automatic tickets for all defectors.”<br /> <br /> The source also said the automatic ticket matter could also affect the choice of governorship candidates in some states.<br /> <br /> “For example, PDP leaders in Kwara State said they will prefer to produce the party’s gubernatorial candidate instead of the returning R-APC.<br /> <br /> “The old PDP members in Bauchi, Sokoto, Kano, Jigawa, Kaduna, Yobe, Borno and other states are seeking governorship ticket in exchange for the acceptance of other conditions by R-APC.”<br /> <br /> On the change of name, the highly-placed source added: “The BOT, NEC and NWC leaders have rejected the request to rename PDP because it will affect the structure of the party and time is not on our side in an election year.<br /> <br /> “We have to write the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and go through a process which may be challenging.”<br /> <br /> At press time, the official presentation of the report of Liyel Imoke Committee was being awaited.

The Commissioner of Polic, Mr Sadiq Bello, disclosed this while addressing newsmen on the incident on Friday in Abuja.<br /> <br /> Bello said that necessary disciplinary procedures had been concluded. “He ( suspect) has been dismissed from the force and arraigned before a court of competent jurisdiction and he is currently on remand awaiting trail,” he said.<br /> <br /> “It was alleged that the lady, one Angela Igwetu stood up and brought out her head through the sun roof of a Toyota Camry car shouting and calling for help that she was kidnapped,” he said. He said that the police claimed that they flagged down the vehicle but the driver refused to stop which made the police Inspector to open fire on the vehicle which hit the deceased. The commissioner said that the command would not condone act of irresponsibility and incivility or outright criminality on the part of officers and men.<br /> <br /> “They have always been admonished to be civil to members of the public and be professional in the conduct of their duties,” he said. He reassured residents of the territory to go about their lawful businesses without fear of molestation or harassment as their peace and security were guaranteed at all times. Bello appealed for calm and understanding from members of the public and family of the deceased as justice would prevail in the matter.<br /> <br /> On the killing of the seven policemen, Bello said that the dastardly act would not deter the police from performing its constitutional duties. He called on members of the public to partner with the police to solve the security challenges in the FCT. “We owe it a duty to arrest these criminals in order to assuage the souls of these young men so that they don’t die in vain.<br /> <br /> “The circumstances surrounding the incident is still very sketchy; however, we want to assure members of the public that we will do whatever is necessary to unravel the mystery surrounding the incident,” he said. The team is also mandated to ensure that solution is proferred to prevent attack of such nature in future.<br /> <br /> “The IGP commiserate with the family of the seven policemen and has directed that all their allowances and benefits are paid to the family.<br /> <br /> “He has equally directed a befitting burial for the seven personnel that died while on duty of protecting the lives of Nigerians”, he added.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, the Police have disclosed that the FCT Minister, Mallam Muhammed Bello would fund the burial of the seven policemen that were killed at Galadimawa roundabout in Abuja on Monday. The Police also said aside the money for burial, the Minister has also approved money to be given to family members of the deceased policemen.<br /> <br /> This was disclosed in Abuja on Friday by the Commissioner of Police, CP Sadiq Bello. According to the obituary of two out of the seven policemen would be buried today. Another victim, Zekeri Adejoh; has been buried according to Islamic rites.<br /> <br /> A family source told newsmen that Adejoh who is survived by his wife and children was buried in Ugbamaka Igah village in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State.<br /> <br /> On the fund for the burial, Bello said: “I have contacted the Minister of FCT and he has graciously approved money for the families of the deceased both for the burial and for the families to have something at certain point. “I will confirm if we have the money and when we are ready to go and disburse it, the media will be carried along.”

Now, when he comes home and wants sex, he needs to pay her first.<br /> <br /> It’s a controversial strategy, but it’s picking up across Uganda, as increasingly emboldened women — backed by rights organisations — battle a patriarchal society where responsibilities and moral norms are both skewed against them.<br /> <br /> What started out with isolated instances in the capital, Kampala, has exploded into a tactic more and more Ugandan women are employing to get their husbands to pay up for household expenses and atone for refusing to take on home chores.<br /> <br /> Three years ago, 150 women first reported demanding money from their husbands for sex to the Mothers Union, an Anglican organisation that has been in Uganda for more than a century, says the body’s secretary, Ruth Nalugwa.<br /> <br /> That number increased to 5,000 by 2016, and now more than 30,000 women have reported employing the strategy, she says.<br /> <br /> The actual number of wives charging their husbands for sex may be greater, says Stella Muyana, the chairperson of Bakazibano, a Ugandan women’s rights organisation. But her organisation has recorded more than 31,000 cases, she says.<br /> <br /> In May, Uganda’s government-owned newspaper, The New Vision, reported on how what “started as a joke” is now “a reality.”<br /> <br /> The spread of this practice is dividing Ugandan society. Some husbands have agreed to pay up, and a few have turned more responsible toward their families. Others have refused to pay for sex, and in some instances, demands from wives have spiraled into domestic violence — and even occasional deaths.<br /> <br /> Some religious leaders and government ministers have weighed in against the practice, calling it “immoral” and “irreligious.”<br /> <br /> But most women and rights organisations are supporting the strategy, arguing that any approach that gets irresponsible husbands to contribute toward the welfare of their families is justified. After all, it took hunger strikes and arson attacks from the suffragettes in the United Kingdom to drive a national conversation about voting rights for women.<br /> <br /> “If the men are irresponsible and it is the only way their wives can get money from them to run the homes, let them go ahead and tax sex,” says Tina Musuya, a leading women’s rights activist and executive director of the nonprofit Centre for Domestic Violence Prevention.<br /> <br /> In his reaction, Uganda’s Minister of Ethics and Integrity, Reverend Father Simon Lokodo, is against the growing practice. “Sex with his wife is a man’s right,” he argues.<br /> <br /> “Denying a husband sex is unfair. Why should wives charge for sex in order to get economic gains?” he asks. To him, the practice shows “that moral fibers have gone so low.”<br /> <br /> Rights activists are, however, clear that if anything, it’s unfair to expect a woman to enjoy sex with a man who doesn’t pay the family’s bills.<br /> <br /> (Ozy)

He then told me to pass underneath his legs and never return."<br /> <br /> However, the dalliance with witchcraft backfired upon Phiri's return to Zambia. Instead of boosting his career, the encounter only served to boost his lust for older women.<br /> <br /> "From the time I went to the shrine, my football career crumbled and I began living a very reckless life," he stated. "Anytime I looked at a woman once or twice and commanded her to follow me, she would. I began womanising, smoking and drinking alcohol all the time."<br /> <br /> With things going decidedly downhill, Phiri resolved to visit the famed church of Pastor T.B. Joshua in Nigeria in search of 'deliverance'.<br /> <br /> He explained that during the church service, his body became uncommonly hot and he "wanted to run away".<br /> <br /> However, when the 'Morning Water' from Joshua's church was ministered to him, Phiri began to aggressively retaliate, clearly under the influence of some supernatural entity.<br /> <br /> "I felt fire burning from my head to my toes," he explained. "I didn't know what was happening from that point on."<br /> <br /> Following his 'deliverance' from 'the devil', Phiri testified that his nightly sexual encounters with strange women in the dream had ended, as had his insatiable lust for the opposite sex.<br /> <br /> Joshua's church is the foremost tourist destination for religious pilgrims in West Africa with hundreds of Zambians weekly trooping to The Synagogue, Church Of All Nations in search of salvation and the miraculous.

But I would advise you to wait till next week to get a clearer picture of developments in that regard.<br /> <br /> “All I can tell you for now is that almost all the members of the Reformed APC are coming back home (PDP) because majority of them had their roots in the PDP before they went to join the now deserted APC in 2014.<br /> <br /> “We are putting finishing touches to our discussions and there is mutual trust and understanding between us and our compatriots from the Reformed APC”, the source who pleaded for anonymity said.<br /> <br /> Asked whether change of name for the PDP was one of the issues on the cards, the source simply said discussions have gone far beyond name change.<br /> <br /> According to him, it was agreed at the last discussion that there may not be any need for the PDP to change name, considering the fact that the PDP is a brand that’s firmly entrenched in every nook and cranny of the country.<br /> <br /> “If you will agree with me, you can see that the PDP has rebranded and things are no longer done the old ways. Our national convention held on December 17, 2017 was a testimony to our rebranded status”, the source added.<br /> <br /> However, our correspondent independently gathered that there are still some knotty areas in the discussion, particularly as regards the control of existing party structures across many states that are not under the control of the PDP.<br /> <br /> For instance, the various state executive committees in such states are already apprehensive that the structures of the party might be taken away from them and handed over to some prominent chieftains among the incoming members.<br /> <br /> Some of the state executive committee members cited the case of the immediate past governor of Ondo State, Dr. Olusegun Mimiko who defected from the Labour Party to the PDP in 2013.<br /> <br /> They recalled that the existing PDP structure in the state was taken away from the executive committee and handed over to Mimiko by the then national leadership of the PDP.<br /> <br /> The development had created serious tension between old members and the new entrants led by the former Ondo governor.<br /> <br /> Some party leaders had attributed the crisis that engulfed the Ondo chapter of the PDP and the eventual loss of the governorship seat in 2017 to the leadership crisis created in the state chapter by Mimiko’s re-entry into the PDP.<br /> <br /> Similarly, it was also gathered that majority of intending defectors in the Reformed APC, particularly among members of the National Assembly, have insisted on having automatic 2019 return tickets to their seats as part of the bargain.<br /> <br /> This has created a dilemma for the leadership of the PDP because if the demand is acceded to, many of the party’s members may have to be sacrificed for the intending new comers.<br /> <br /> The party leaders are worried that this may create another crisis for the PDP that could lead to the exodus of a large number of party faithful who may want to pursue their aspiration on different political platforms.<br /> <br /> Our source reliably gathered that the leadership of the PDP would be meeting with the leadership of the Reformed APC in the days ahead, with the view to resolving this and other knotty issues.

We shall deploy them in all forthcoming elections,’’ the chairman said.<br /> <br /> He urged the security agencies to help and ensure that the Form was pasted at polling units after the declaration of election result in the units.<br /> <br /> He appealed to the agencies to remind the polling officers to paste the result at each polling unit “where there is an inadvertent omission to paste it’’.<br /> <br /> Yakubu also urged agencies to continue to provide peaceful environment for conduct of elections across the country.<br /> <br /> “As we approach the 2019 general elections, we also need your support, especially in securing the environment for us to conduct elections.<br /> <br /> “I will like to thank the security agency for the things that you have done to secure the environment.<br /> <br /> “I will like to appeal to the security agencies to continue to exploit the same neutrality to see that our elections are getting better.<br /> <br /> “We want Ekiti to surpass Anambra and I believe we can do it and I am confident in the security agencies that we can do it.’’<br /> <br /> In his response, National Security Adviser (NSA), Major-Gen. All my staff, we are all in good mood and we want to thank the people of Ekiti state, so far. Even if there issues at all, it is not with INEC.”<br /> <br /> He further stressed that security agencies have always been handling whatever security issues.<br /> <br /> On the preparedness of INEC, he said, “As far as INEC Ekiti state is concerned, we are fully ready. In fact if you get to Ekiti state now, apart from the operational works, all our offices are wearing a new look. We have distributed all the non-sensitive materials to all our local government.”<br /> <br /> Besides, he said INEC personnel that will be deployed have been trained and ready for deployment.<br /> <br /> Abdulganiu also revealed that Monday stakeholders’ meeting will be chaired by the INEC Chairman, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu.<br /> <br /> “So everything has been put in place in Ekiti state. The only thing left is that we are waiting for is the cooperation of the people of Ekiti state,” he added.<br /> <br /> On the insinuation that the election may be rigged, Ekiti REC said that the word rigging should be wiped off from the country’s electoral system.<br /> <br /> “I don’t know what you want to rig again with the kind of structure we have put in place in INEC. That is what we have been explaining to the people of Ekiti state.”<br /> <br /> He stressed that the process has a full proof against rigging, explaining that the authentication and verification from the voter register, and the smart card readers accreditation transmitted to headquarters of INEC both in Ekiti and National headquarters in Abuja, while the election is going on, will make it impossible for anyone to rig the election.<br /> <br /> Also, the Commissioner of Police for Ekiti state, Mr. Bello Ahmed said over 20,000 security personeel will be deployed for the election.<br /> <br /> The police force he said will be contributing about 16,000 of the personnel, while other security agencies will make up the remaining number.<br /> <br /> On measures put in place, Ahmed said that all the likely false points in the state have been identified and a robust security measure put in place.<br /> <br /> He said, “We have done trait analysis, all the flash points, all the individuals involved and everyone that is inimical to peace, not only during the conduct of this election but the entire generality of Ekiti state have been identified and we have put in a robust security arrangement to checkmate them.<br /> <br /> “With regards to personnel deployed, on the part of the police, we have over 16,000 that will be involved, and a total of over 20,000 police and other security personnel that will be involved towards this coming election.”

This time, though, Hugo Loris pulled off a magnificent save from a Martin Caceres header to preserve France's 1-0 lead.<br /> <br /> Uruguay started the second half well, too, and with the lively Cristian Rodriguez and Maximiliano Gomez coming on for the disappointing Stuani and cautioned Betancur, it looked like they might just get back in it.<br /> <br /> France had not really got going at all but Pogba found Griezmann about 25 yards out and he pulled trigger with his left foot. Ali Ndume, has cautioned against strain in National Assembly and the Executive relationship, saying it might put the country’s nascent democracy in jeopardy.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Ndume gave the advice at the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) Forum in Abuja.<br /> <br /> He said that both arms of government were to be blamed for the seeming lack of cooperation between them, adding that it was unhealthy for democracy.<br /> <br /> Acknowledging existence of distrust between both organs of government, the lawmaker said “it is true that the relationship between the Executive and the Legislature is not what it ought to be and it is very unfortunate.<br /> <br /> “I think we got it wrong from the beginning. I was in the centre of this issue to a certain level.’’<br /> <br /> He said that some misunderstanding between both arms of government began with the selection of leadership of National Assembly at the inauguration of its 8th session in 2015.<br /> <br /> According to him, there was problem when our leadership emerged against the interest of the party.<br /> <br /> “When we were to be inaugurated we were looking forward to direction from the Executive and President Muhammadu Buhari said he was ready to work with anybody.<br /> <br /> “Following that, we formed an interest group called the `The Like Minds’ and struggled to take over the leadership which is normal in any political setting, and we emerged.<br /> <br /> “I emerged as the Leader of the Senate and Dr Bukola Saraki emerged as President of the Senate and we formed our team.<br /> <br /> “From there, the party said certain positions should be compromised including my own and we refused because I was, for example, elected by my colleagues from the North-East when the position was zoned to the area.”<br /> <br /> He expressed concern that in spite of the fact that All Progressives Congress (APC) members formed two-third majority in the Senate, the chamber’s relationship with the Executive had not been very cordial.<br /> <br /> Ndume called on the two arms to work together for the sustenance of democracy.<br /> <br /> He also said that internal wrangling among senators was responsible for the problem the senate was having with the Executive, alleging that the senate had been personalised.<br /> <br /> “Senators are afraid of expressing their opinion on what they believe in for fear of persecution, discrimination or sabotage.<br /> <br /> “For instance, everything is in the hands of the Senate leadership or the President of the Senate.<br /> <br /> “This is to the extent that if you go against the standpoint of the Senate President there is possibility of missing certain advantages and privileges that senators see as important; so, they compromise,” the lawmaker said. </div>
