Carwardine describes in his 2008 book “Animal Records” that the distance between the mosquito’s foreleg and hind leg could reach 23 cm.<br /> <br /> But Zhao’s discovery of the mosquito, known as Holorusia mikado, has nabbed the top spot.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> The specimen of the mosquito, kept in Zhao’s museum, has a wingspan of 11.15 cm, while the distance between its foreleg and hind leg is 25.8 cm.<br /> <br /> Holorusia mikado, the biggest kind of mosquito, was originally discovered in Japan. Zhao said that such giant mosquitos barely suck on blood. Instead, they feed on honey flower.<br /> <br /> “Actually, in English, it is not called a mosquito,” Zhao said. “It is called a crane fly. It must be very very specific and it will be easy to hold us to account if we do not implement the recommendations that you have come up with.<br /> <br /> For the Broadcasting Service of Ekiti State, the Governor said, “This is an institution that ran foul of the law which caused its closure by the National Broadcasting Commission in order for it not to create crisis in the state.<br /> <br /> “We have asked those who are in that panel to look into what led to this and how to guide against this in the future and how to try to insulate the broadcasting service from undue political infiltration. It is also important to at least ensure that the statute setting up that institution is adhered to”.<br /> <br /> Responding on behalf of other panel members, the Chairman of the visitation panel for Ekiti State University, Prof. Bode Asubiojo appreciated the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve and assured that they will do their best to achieve the desired result within the ambit of the time given to them.<br /> <br /> The four Panels were given four weeks to submit their reports and recommendations.</div>

So we now have Google Station in six different locations, including Palms Shopping Mall, Landmark Centre, the University of Lagos, MM2, the domestic airport, computer village and Ikeja City Mall.<br /> <br /> “But for us, the more interesting part of it is that we are asking them to roll out in markets across Nigeria. So, in the next few months, they will be in Onitsha Main Market; in Gbagi, Ibadan; in Kuto Market in Abeokuta; in the Kaduna Central Market, Sura Market and Lagos/Abuja international airport by the end of the year.”<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> According to Osinbajo, the government believes that by democratising access to the Internet in public places and in markets, more people can do their business and receive information, and the information can be cheaply delivered to them.<br /> <br /> Speaking about the challenges in export and import processes, he admitted that there were still a lot of problems despite cutting down on documentation.<br /> <br /> He said, “We are working on that and one of the reasons why we are trying to establish the national trade platform or the single window for imports and exports is because it can significantly reduce the time it takes to bring in goods and clear them.<br /> <br /> “We hope that we will be able to launch that single window in a few months. It is being delayed due to individual ministries, departments and agencies of government trying to align all their various electronic platforms. The camp hosts about 12,600 persons.<br /> <br /> Kallon said, “I urge the government of Nigeria to step up the protection of innocent people. Attacks on camps for internally displaced persons threaten the lives of these innocent women, children and men who have already fled their homes as a result of the ongoing conflict. Our deepest condolences go to the families of the victims of this attack and we wish the injured speedy recovery.”<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> He said the attack took place in one of the nine IDPs camps in Dalori.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, the Benue State Emergency Management Agency on Friday banned political gathering in IDPs camps in the state.<br /> <br /> The directive may not be unconnected to a purported political rally held by the All Progressives Congress in a camp at Daudu last Friday.<br /> <br /> The Executive Secretary of the agency, Emmanuel Shior, noted the ban had become necessary to stop politicians from exploiting the misfortunes of the people for “cheap political goals.”<br /> <br /> The statement read in part, “It is exactly one week ago when leaders of the All Progressives Congress from Benue State stormed Daudu to formally receive a former Speaker of the state House of Assembly, Dr. Steven Tsav, from the Peoples Democratic Party to its fold.<br /> <br /> “Although the event has come and gone, it has left many issues that deserve very strong caution and portrayed some of our leaders in very bad light.<br /> <br /> “How could a sane person believe that these people (IDPs) who are victims of a failed Federal Government will be willing to identify with a party that is the brains behind their sufferings?”</div>

This issue of treating court orders as tissue papers must stop; it doesn’t reflect the image of our party,” Okorocha had told journalists after meeting President Muhammadu Buhari on Thursday.<br /> <br /> “Since his inception and after the primaries, we have lost almost five million voters. There is anger, protest everywhere. He needs to be called to order; he has to respect the rule of law, respect court orders and do the right thing.”<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> But Oshiomhole denied the allegations by the governor, maintaining that he is on the right path.<br /> <br /> “Okorocha’s action is against the Christian community in Imo state and also an embarrassment to APC… we are not ready to join him in antagonising his people,” Oshiomhole said.<br /> <br /> “Yesterday, I watched Okorocha on television urging me to obey the rule of law but we followed due process to rescue him because the congresses conducted by my predecessor swept Okorocha out of the system. We thought it wise to restore due process and ordered fresh congress in the state.<br /> <br /> “If Governor Rochas chose to relocate to the villa and use the ground of villa to try to intimidate me to create a dynasty, I will uphold the best interest of APC members and indeed of APC people in Imo state.”<br /> <br /> Oshiomhole also took the opportunity of the conference to descend on Ibikunle Amosun, governor of Ogun state, accusing him of injustice and fraud in relation to the APC primaries held in Ogun.<br /> <br /> He said the governor had called him to say that the Ogun APC was going to adopt consensus option, but he rejected it, insisting on direct primary.<br /> <br /> “Governor Amosun decided that him and his prefered aspirant will not participate in the primaries organised by the working committee and even tried to withdraw the security that was necessary for the primary panel,” he said.<br /> <br /> “At a stakeholders’ meeting, Governor Amosun decided to introduce the third element which didn’t feature in the resolution of the NEC, announced that Ogun State was going to adopt consensus and he proceeded to define what in his view constitute consensus.<br /> <br /> “He announced somebody as the consensus governor, he proceeded to announce another man as the deputy governor, he went on to proclaim (himself) as the next senator and he said the current serving senator, Tejuoso, should step aside.<br /> <br /> “He also went on to announce that the second senator also from Ogun State will step aside while another man will come in. Governor Amosun went on to announce another man who will be the next speaker, and another one as the next deputy speaker. He also singlehandedly pronounced that of the eight House of Representatives members, seven will not return. According to him, only one will return. All these he claimed is a consensus.<br /> <br /> “However, Ogun state governor decided in his wisdom to conduct his own self help, I mean resulting to what you can call self help by conducting what he called his own primary. The Secretary to Ogun state government became the chief returning officer and I and other NWC members were watching the Channels Television and we saw the secretary to Ogun state government proclaiming himself as the returning officer, and purported to have conducted primary.”

Three others are before Justices Hakeem Oshodi and Oluwatoyin Taiwo of the Ikeja High Court.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> In the first charge before Justice Taiwo, Evans and three others – Joseph Emeka, Ugochukwu Nwachukwu and Victor Aduba – pleaded not guilty to a five-count charge of conspiracy to kidnap, kidnapping and attempted murder.<br /> <br /> In the second charge, Evans is being tried alongside Joseph Emeka, Linus Okpara and Victor Aduba.<br /> <br /> Earlier, counsel to the first and third defendants, Mr Noel Brown, prayed for an adjournment on the ground that his lead counsel Mr Chino Ogbiagwu SAN, was with the case file.<br /> <br /> But Justice Akintoye denied his application. The judge insisted that the trial should go on, since Brown was part of the defense team and had been present in court since the trial commenced.<br /> <br /> Haruna, the seventh prosecution witness in the second charge, identified himself as a member of the Inspector-General of Police intelligent Response team that caught Evans.<br /> <br /> Testifying during a trial within trial, the witness said he was the officer assigned to record Evans’ statement, so he cautioned the suspect and asked him if he had a lawyer to guide him during the process.<br /> <br /> According to the policeman, who was led in evidence by the state’s Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Titilayo Shitta-Bey, Evans said he didn’t but that he was ready to proceed.<br /> <br /> Evans was not tortured,and volunteered his statement at about 10 am, “in a very conducive environment,” the witness explained.<br /> <br /> Haruna said: “He said he didn’t have any lawyer and that he doesn’t go near lawyers because of what he does.”<br /> <br /> The witness alleged that Evans confessed to owning four AK47 rifles, two pistols and shackles (chains), which he used on his victims, and a Lexus Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) in which he drove his kidnapped victims to his hideout at 21, Prophet Asaje Close, Igando, Lagos.<br /> <br /> Haruna also alleged that Evans told the police that only he negotiated for ransom and also arranged for how to pick up the ransom. He never involved other members of the gang, but that he gave them a small share of the loot.<br /> <br /> He said the first defendant told the police that the fourth defendant Victor Aduba, a serving Army Officer, was used during an operation to deceive the police, so they could be granted free passage to and fro their criminal hideout.<br /> <br /> The defendants, had through their counsel, Mr Noel Brown, Ogedi Ogu and Emmanuel Ochai, told the court that their statements were involuntary and obtained after they were tortured.<br /> <br /> The second defendant Joseph Emeka, in open court told his counsel Ogu, that he was beaten to stupor, before his statement was taken.<br /> <br /> But Haruna, who said the defendants’ statements were taken at the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) office in Ikeja, Lagos, denied the accusation. He said none of them was tortured, nor under duress when they made their statements.<br /> <br /> Justice Adedayo adjourned till November 16, for continuation of trial.

What is important is that as things stand, the highest court in the land has pronounced that those congresses did not meet the requirements of the law and are therefore not valid.<br /> <br /> As a law abiding party, we accept the decision of the court and we will call a meeting in no distant future of all the stakeholders in Rivers state to prepare them and to put the necessary machinery in place to conduct fresh ward, local government and state congresses in Rivers in line with the provisions of the constitution of the APC. This we have to do in full obedience to the judgment of the Supreme Court”.

D. Onyeke, however, requested for more time to examine the new charges and to advice his client accordingly.<br /> <br /> “The prosecution has not afforded us the opportunity to view the list of new prosecution witnesses, who, somewhere along the line, will come here to give evidence. I need to be well informed.<br /> <br /> “I request that we be given time to look at the amended charge, so that I will advise my client and the defendants will take their plea,” said Onyeke.<br /> <br /> Agreeing with Onyeke’s submission, Oyedepo said, “My lord, he should be given time. it is in the interest of justice. margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="486" data-original-width="842" height="184" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEicDH_2CHR9KwQTMCbY-7zMER4_RrF4kzbYAb2nV-yRfUDLUoVRkw4EoX1N_OaVams-3Bn2-FnHg7pPRwAZD4lP9H_aLPeAlSbdA-hfksQndI0BQhyphenhyphenX2BwXm4DdUTdddKuJfjmn_mbskMPy/s320/Court-Management.jpg" width="320" /></a></div> <br /> After three years of legal battle over a legislative seat in the Benue State House of Assembly, the Appeal Court in Makurdi on Friday gave judgment in favour of Joseph Boko and ordered the immediate sack of Benjamin Nungwa, the occupant of the seat.<br /> <br /> The News Agency of Nigeria reports that both Boko and Nungwa contested the All Progressives Congress primary of Kwande West legislative seat in the state house of assembly in April 2015 , which was won by Boko.<br /> <br /> Dissatisfied with the conduct of the primary , Nungwa , sent a petition concerning the outcome of the primary to the APC National Secretariat for arbitration.<br /> <br /> NAN reports that an Arbitration Panel was set up by the National Working Committee of the party to resolve the disputed primary election.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> The appellant, who dragged Nungwa, the Independent Electoral Commission and joined the APC in the matter , had averred that the said panel , which claimed to have held sittings in Makurdi , never invited him but took decisions from its purported sittings that had adverse effects on him.G<br /> <br /> He , therefore , prayed the court to declare that the panel was not competent to sit since it was not in the first instance , properly constituted.<br /> <br /> Boko averred that the panel had no chairman and secretary and therefore , did not form a quorum to take decisions.<br /> He also argued that by excluding him from its proceedings , his right of fair hearing was infringed upon.<br /> <br /> The appellant also averred that he was properly nominated as the party’ s candidate for the election and prayed the court to order Nungwa to relinquish the seat he was occupying to him.<br /> <br /> Boko had also argued that many weeks after the deadline for substitution of candidates at INEC had already closed , his name was illegally substituted with that of Nungwa.<br /> <br /> The appellant averred that it was his name that was sent to INEC and wondered who authorised the substitution.<br /> <br /> He argued that “After submitting names to the INEC , it is only the candidate himself that can withdraw or it could be withdrawn if he dies ; I did not withdraw my name and I am not dead. ’’<br /> <br /> However, in her judgment , Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court Makurdi , affirmed Nungwa as the APC ’ s candidate and cited the decision of the National Working Committee of the party as the basis.<br /> <br /> Dissatisfied with the judgment , Boko approached the Supreme Court , which after hearing the matter , expunged all cross appeals and motions that were unnecessary to the case and transmitted it back to the Appeal Court with a directive for a speedy retrial on merit.<br /> <br /> In a unanimous judgement , read by Justice Joseph Ekanem and supported by Justice Hannatu Sankey , on Friday in Makurdi , the court overturned the judgment of the Federal High Court , which affirmed Nungwa as the winner of the legislative seat.<br /> <br /> The court , therefore , ordered the immediate sack of Nungwa , who was described as “an illegal occupant of the Kwande West legislative seat’’ .<br /> <br /> The jurists also ordered him to refund all salaries and allowances earned within the three years he occupied the seat in the Benue House of Assembly and granted N200 , 000 costs to the appellant.<br /> <br /> The appellate court resolved three out of five issues brought to it for determination by the appellant in his favour.<br /> <br /> The court resolved that the arbitration panel of the NWC of the APC that claimed to resolve the disputed Kwande West primary was not competent to handle the crises , hence it was not properly constituted.<br /> <br /> It also resolved that the appellant was denied fair hearing since he was not invited to appear before the panel and agreed that the nomination of the appellant was done in accordance with the party’ s procedures.<br /> <br /> NAN reports that Nungwa is currently serving a six -month suspension by the Benue House of Assembly for allegedly plotting to impeach Governor Samuel Ortom.<br /> <br /> Speaking to NAN on the court ’ s verdict , an elated Boko , said he was grateful to God and the judiciary for being the last hope of the ordinary man.<br /> <br /> He regretted the cost of pursuing justice from the Federal High Court through the Supreme Court and appealed for a review of the laws of the courts to allow speedy trials. ” </div>
