They are; Emmanuel Gado ‘M’ age 22 years, Ladi Monday ‘F’ age 30 years and Mary Monday ‘F’ age 5 years,” the statement added.<br /> <br /> Mr Terna said on the receipt of the information about the incident, police detectives led by the Divisional Crime Officer (DCO) of Bassa Police Division mobilised to the scene of crime.<br /> <br /> According to PPRO, “one expended shell of 7.62mm Ammunition was recovered.”<br /> <br /> He however said investigation was in progress to arrest the perpetrators of the crime, calling on members of public to help the command with the needed information that would assist to get the perpetrators apprehended.

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="720" data-original-width="1280" height="225" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgMsB3HcxvT939oMbjyy0RPknu6ChxgnZqyT3NH17pakD3zdzBLEEev-Wka8MF48pG3EDYSA6-CUabZx6kvGa_tmacodlxJGQ-A8hFs1kn15_9StI1sQErv3G6a8Cx3sacChUsfW1g3L1FU/s400/Gas-Plant-+nigeria.jpg" width="400" /></div> <br /> The Nigeria Liquefied Natural Gas Ltd., says its ongoing plans to reach a Final Investment Decision on its Train-7 project by December will make Nigeria the 3rd World largest gas exporter.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> The NLNG General Manager Production, Mr Tayo Ogini, said this on Saturday while making a presentation on the facility located at Bonny Island on Saturday.<br /> <br /> The presentation was to acquaint the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Dr Ibe Kachikwu, who visited the plant to see the progress made on the project so far.<br /> <br /> According to the presentation, Nigeria is presently the fourth exporter of gas in the world.<br /> <br /> The NLNG has six operational trains (gas plants).<br /> <br /> The first train was built in 1989 but by 2007 till date, plans to build Trains 7 and 8 were shelved.<br /> <br /> The six trains have a combined capacity to produce 22 metric tonnes per annum (mtpa) of Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG).<br /> <br /> However, plans to invest seven billion dollars on the Train-7 project would expand its production capacity to 30 mtpa making Nigeria the 3rd largest exporter of gas in the World after Qatar and Australia.<br /> <br /> Ogini said the gas produced in Nigeria was world-class, adding that the NLNG had built a reputation of reliability in its gas supplies around the world.<br /> <br /> According to him, the hub of crude oil exporters on the island namely: Shell SPDC, ExxonMobil and the NLNG can easily produce two million barrels of oil per day.<br /> <br /> Ogini said the country had 23 NLNG carriers which had sailed more than 4,000 cargoes making it the largest in Africa.<br /> <br /> He, however, said the companies were being faced by inadequate infrastructure, adding that with the three-year Bonny-Boro road project which the company had embarked on, part of the problem would soon be addressed.<br /> <br /> Responding, Kachikwu commended the NLNG management for its efficiency, saying the company was a testament to the fact that things could be properly done in Nigeria.<br /> <br /> He recalled that during the cash crunch of 2016, NLNG saved the day and helped to avert a shutdown of the nation’s economy.<br /> <br /> According to the minister of state, the Train-7 project is fantastic but Nigeria is not yet where it should be.

Every competition comes with its own ups and downs and this is no different but we must pick the positives which have been more than the negatives.<br /> <br /> “The Delta State government saved Nigeria after there was a mix up following the award of the rights to another state. Delta with this competition has created a conscious effort to instill an athletics culture in the youth with the hosting of this competition.<br /> <br /> “We are however announcing that Nigeria will be bidding to host the 2025 World Championships. The IAAF president Lord Seb Coe when he was leaving was convinced that Africa could host the competition in 2025.<br /> <br /> “Six host countries were identified and I as well as the AFN board members have told the sports minister that it will be a bold step for the country. I am happy to say that we are bidding to host the World Championships in Abuja in 2025.<br /> <br /> “Abuja Stadium will be renovated very soon and there is a new railway system while hotels are not problems. We believe that by 2025 Nigeria will be ready to host the world if we are able to put this together and host Africa in Asaba in 2018.”

Bamidele Faparusi, has described the recently filed petition of the Peoples Democratic Party’s Governorship candidate, in the July 14 election, Kolapo Olusola, at the Tribunal, as an exercise in futility.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Olusola had a filed his petition on Friday against the winner, Dr Kayode Fayemi, calling for the nullification of the exercise,<br /> <br /> The Deputy Director General of the Kayode Fayemi Campaign Council, said the election reflected the will of Ekiti people and that not even the petition filed by Olusola or any other party can upturn the verdict.<br /> <br /> The former House of Representatives member added that the party will assemble highly experienced legal team that would confront the PDP and its candidate and prevent them from getting victory through the backdoor.<br /> <br /> Fayemi, the candidate of the APC polled a total of 197, 459 to trounce Olusola, who got 178, 121 votes in the keenly contested election.<br /> <br /> In the petition filed by the head of his legal team, Mallam Yusuf Ali, Olusola prayed the Tribunal to declare him the winner of the July 14 election, predicating this on the fact that he polled the highest number of lawful votes in the poll.<br /> <br /> Responding to the action, Faparusi, in a statement in Ado Ekiti on Saturday appealed to APC members across the State to be peaceful and see the present legal challenge as one that won’t yield any fruitful result.<br /> <br /> The APC chieftain described the election as the best in Ekiti since the advent of democracy in 1999, saying the allegations of ballot stuffing and snatching, falsification of results and brazen abuse of powers by APC to win the election only existed in the demented<br /> imagination of the PDP as a political party.<br /> <br /> He said: “Prof Olusola asking that he be declared winner of an election he lost was a tall dream that won’t be realized. The whole world could attest to the credibility of the election.<br /> <br /> “Several credible observer groups with the exception of those sponsored by Governor Ayodele Fayose had given the Independent National Electoral Commission(INEC) a thumb up over its transparency in the conduct of the election. The European Union and other global bodies that monitored the governorship election praised the electoral commission for doing a great job.<br /> <br /> “Since the advent of democracy in 1999, this election stood out to be the most keenly contested with the winner defeating the loser with a marginal edge of 19, 338 votes. This confirmed and substantiated how transparent INEC had been in the conduct of this election.<br /> <br /> “No election can be deemed to have been perfect, but substantially, the exercise could be adjudged to have been conducted in line with the 1999 constitution and the dictate of the Electoral Act.<br /> <br /> “If one dissects the trends of the winning across the 16 local governments, the two parties were having marginal edge ahead of others, but eventually APC won in 12 local governments and PDP won four.<br /> <br /> “If the PDP could be bold to tag an election where the winner won 12 councils and loser four, what would the people call the June 21, 2014 governorship election, where Governor Fayose defeated the incumbent governor, Dr. Fayemi in all the 16 local governments?<br /> <br /> “No one can abridge Prof Olusola’s rights to seek redress in court, this steps remains the most civilized and recognized resort in electioneering process, but we in the APC are confident that it is going to be a futile effort because Dr. Fayemi got the mandate<br /> through credible means,” he concluded.</div>

The commission however fined them, N500,000 and N1,000,000 for the two offences, which they paid.<br /> <br /> On the sanction slammed on them over the political programme, Akiotu said “At various times, through overtures from the commission, we have been requested to navigate the course of the discourse on progamme to desperately support the seating government at all cost irrespective of the glaring security challenges, killings and the pervading socio-political and economic dislocations that abound in the country which are daily expressed through the mails from the citizenry and the analysts.<br /> <br /> “We use this golden opportunity to state our own side if the story considering the worrisome, arm twisting dimension that the unfolding drama by the commission is taking in a most unpredictable manner that belies the operational guidelines as enunciated in the Nigeria Broadcasting Code.<br /> <br /> “State that gradually and steadily, the commission under the present leadership as constituted is determined to intimidate, undermine and ultimately, programmed to muzzle the constitutional rights guaranteeing the freedom of speech enuciated in the human rights charter of the constitution of the Federal Republic of of Nigeria and global statues.<br /> <br /> “Emphasised that under the guise of Nigerian Broadcasting Code, the commission has decided to interpret and enforce unambiguous provisions either through outright breaches of the wilful reinvention of the wheels.”<br /> <br /> Akiotu explained that fines were unjust explained thus “we decided to obey and pay because we didn’t want to show that we are above the law and to make them know we are a law abiding body being the flagship private broadcast organisation in the country.”<br /> <br /> The group Managing Director who that the accusation that they exceeded their broadcast bandwidth is strange to them, said, “We wish for state that possibly due to some ulterior motives calculated at a deterministic agenda, the commission hurriedly without recourse to its records, to verify certain facts, did not also know that video a letter reference No. NBC/11/s.26/Vol 1.259 dates February 10, 1999; signed by Mr. Bright E. Victor Okwudili-Ezugwu, the army boss said that the Nigerian Army was doing its best to restore normalcy in crisis areas across the country.<br /> <br /> He said “let me use this opportunity to assure Nigerians that the Army is committed to the unity and indivisibility of this country.<br /> <br /> “We are doing everything humanly possible to ensure that no part of this country is occupied by criminal elements or insurgents.<br /> <br /> “We will also continue to support the civil authorities in ensuring that citizens are safe and protected in the course of pursuing their legitimate activities.”<br /> <br /> The army chief said that the security of the country was of great concern to the Federal Government and Nigerians, saying that the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other security agencies was able to recover areas from the hands of terrorists and insurgents.<br /> <br /> Buratai added that economic activities in affected areas were gradually taking shape and that Internally Displaced Persons were returning to their ancestral homes and farmers back to the land.<br /> <br /> He also assured that efforts were actively on to ensure that clashes between herders and farmers were brought to complete halt.<br /> <br /> He said “the Nigerian Army have the constitutional right to support other security agencies to ensure the security and safety of Nigerians.<br /> <br /> “This is an obligation that we must undertake in line with our oath of allegiance to the nation. I will like to recognise the role of our gallant troops in all ongoing operations across the country.<br /> <br /> “Accordingly, the emotional and spiritual support of the family members and relations at large for the troops is highly appreciable.”<br /> <br /> The chief of army staff, who expressed concern over the well-being of students of army school. He assured that their educational and medical facilities had been upgraded.<br /> <br /> He particularly congratulated the graduating boys and applauded their determination and discipline during their stay in the school and urged them to be good ambassadors of the institution and the Nigerian Army.<br /> <br /> He charged them to always exhibit high sense of discipline, commitment, patriotism and dedication wherever they found themselves.<br /> <br /> The News Agency of Nigeria reports that 149 boys graduated during the 2017/2018 academic session.</div>

Gen. Augustine Agundu to the area.<br /> <br /> The spokesperson for the  Plateau State Police Command, Matthias Tyopev, a Deputy Superintendent of Police, confirmed the killing on Saturday, saying investigation had commenced.<br /> <br /> He said, “Today, being Saturday, August 4 at 0745hrs, the Nigeria Police Force, Plateau State Command, Jos received an information that on August 3 at about 1830hrs, unknown armed men suspected to be Fulani herdsmen attacked Zanwra area of Jebbu Miango, Bassa LGA. As a result of the attack three persons were shot dead.<br /> <br /> “They are; Emmanuel Gado ‘M’ aged 22, Ladi Monday ‘F’ age 30 and Mary Monday ‘F’ aged 5 years. Police detectives led by the Divisional Crime Officer of Bassa Police Division mobilised to the scene of crime. One expended shell of 7.62mm ammunition was recovered, Photographs of the corpses were also taken.<br /> <br /> “Meanwhile, the corpses were buried by relations according to Irigwe rites. An investigation is in progress to track and arrest the perpetrators to face justice. We also appeal to members of the public to help with the needed information to unravel the mystery behind the attack.”</div>

This will only make us stronger because politics is a game of numbers.<br /> <br /> “Let me also add that some of them are talking with our Contact and Integration Committee and these are not just members of the ruling party but lawmakers in both the Senate and House of Representatives. Our rebranded platform is now attractive to leaders across board including some serving cabinet members of the APC-led government.<br /> <br /> “On the issue of possible rift over the President ticket, the party has always stated that it has no preferred candidate either among those who have declared their intents or those likely to join the race.<br /> <br /> “Unlike the APC, the PDP is a democratic party in name and actions. We have charged them (aspirants) to talk to Nigerians and avail them of their plans for the people. At the end, the delegates will decide who emerges as our flag bearer in the 2019 Presidential election,” he stated.<br /> <br /> Last week, Governors Samuel Ortom and Aminu Tambuwal of Benue and Sokoto states respectively rejoined the PDP alongside a good number of their respective States House of Assembly members but Ologbondiyan stressed that more states are about to do same.<br /> <br /> “It is not only the states you mentioned (Benue and Sokoto) that are the issue here. Members of assemblies of other states would soon come on board in the rescue Nigeria Project.<br /> <br /> ” Everywhere you turn, the story is the same. Nigerians are crying; they are dying of frustration and hunger. So, what is happening today (defections) is not about the PDP, it is about Nigeria,” he added.<br /> <br /> The return of Governor Tambuwal to PDP has continued to generate diverse reactions with many suggesting that the party’s Presidential ticket is his to pick. Although, yet to make a public statement on his post 2019 future, the former Speaker of the House of Representatives is believed to be the anointed choice of top power brokers in the country, including prominent traditional and religious leaders.<br /> <br /> However, the National Working Committee (NWC) of the PDP led by Prince Uche Secondus insists the power to pick the Presidential candidate is beyond it or any other organ of the party. Imposition and Impunity, Secondus has warned virtually every week, would no longer be associated with the PDP.</div>

Am as Oshiomhole’s Chief Press Secretary, Simon Ebegbulem had sent a message that they would touch down by 8.30 am, it was however not to be until few minutes after nine when Oshiomhole accompanied by his aides, including the lawmaker representing Egor/Ikpobha-Okha federal constituency in the House of Representatives, Ehiozuwa Johnson Agbonayinma arrived.<br /> <br /> Oshiomhole was received by some members of the APC in the state, including the state chairman, Anselm Ojezua, Edo North Senatorial leader Chief Sunny Okomayin, state youth leader, Valentine Asuen and other party leaders from Delta who had arrived Benin to escort him to their state.<br /> <br /> It was hectic controlling the surging crowd that welcomed him as he was mobbed by the thousands of market women and young people who continuously chanted “Na you we know, Na you we, Oshiomhole Na you we know”.<br /> <br /> His address to the crowd was intermittently interrupted by this chants as he used the opportunity to calm members who have become agitated recently accusing the administration of Godwin Obaseki of not being interested in their welfare and also accused him abandoning them and bringing “strangers” to become beneficiaries of a government they did not work to enthrone.<br /> <br /> They had also accused him of “importing” contractors to carry out jobs they could easily do thereby encouraging capital flight from the state which they said is impoverishing the economy of the state.<br /> <br /> The National chairman of the party promised to ensure that the tradition of carrying everybody along is sustained in the state.<br /> <br /> “And to our people here I want to assure you that I will work together with our governor and ensure that any error, any concern that you have that they are addressed satisfactorily. And I want to assure you that the tradition of carry our people along will be sustained; you represent what I call our infantry division, you are the ones on election day who ensure that our voters come out, you are the ones who ensure that the PDP rigging machine was defeated.<br /> <br /> “We must keep you as a standing force; together we will match on and we will ensure that everyone who works is looked after. I know there are people with all kinds of stories but let me assure you that after the storm the weather will settle. Trust me, as you have not abandoned me, I will never abandon you and to our youths, I want to particularly appeal to you; don’t lose faith.”<br /> <br /> He added that, “There will be work, there will be participation; there will be involvement, there will be inclusivity we will not throw away anybody. Nobody will be used and dumped.<br /> <br /> “If yesterday has come beautiful, tomorrow will be better, I am back home as they say; then to our market women, you know you are my wives and I am your child; together we must sustain that oneness. To our APC women, you know my position; together we will work to sustain this tempo,” he said.<br /> <br /> The former labour leader did not also spare those who have been critical about his leadership style as national chairman of the party said there must be a new style in the party and the country to get desired results.<br /> <br /> He said he was aware of the challenges facing the party and the country and believed that he would provide the needed leadership to change the situation. “I will represent the feelings, the aspirations and I will meet your expectations as far as the running of the Al Progressives Congress (APC) is concerned and at this point I am very clear, we will have to fight on the basis of our conviction and we will adopt our style, we will not borrow other people’s style and we will bring those values into the leadership and management of the APC.<br /> <br /> Working together with President Buhari that government will focus on the people, that government will not focus on the welfare of the few at the expense of the majority, that government must do everything possible to ensure that those who work have something to show for their labour.<br /> <br /> “We must support the president and the APC to remove all those thieves, all those looters who believe it is their birthright to continue to loot. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><img border="0" data-original-height="398" data-original-width="600" height="265" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiPjDP70_F94irQrTRhshYB9rRvZFs3uwKkw6YITY1vwcymq9V9i99rKRBlQ-YYCScOj-ute-0L4vB4LJCfhJnaEurzOnBSJlgJBqEM6inBFD_dUBJ_fQZEj7WI5OPGGrk1bt2pujJ_EgeT/s400/Senate-President-Bukola-Saraki-e1449161273347.jpg" width="400" /></div> <br /> A senator, Abdullahi Adamu (APC-Nasarawa), has faulted the defection of the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, from the All Progressives Congress (APC) to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Mr Adamu, who made this known in an interview with journalists in Abuja on Friday, said “Saraki had stepped on banana peel and should be prepared to bear the consequences of his action.”<br /> <br /> Messrs Adamu and Saraki, former political allies, have been antagonists since the former accused the senate president of working against the interest of President Muhammadu Buhari.<br /> <br /> Mr Saraki earlier in the week attacked Mr Adamu, saying he was a deceptive, manipulative and desperate liar.<br /> <br /> “He feels the best way to play his self-survival game and ingratiate himself to the government in order to save his skin is for him to be seen to be fighting Saraki, even if that would require him to tell brazen lies and peddle mischief in his old age,” Me Saraki said of the Nasarawa senator who had repeatedly criticised him.<br /> <br /> In his Friday statement on the senate president, Mr Adamu said, “If Saraki knows political intricacies and the political terrain or the path where the banana peel in political landscape is, he will be more cautious.<br /> <br /> “The way he is going now, he has obviously stepped on banana peel and only God knows how far he will slip.<br /> <br /> “I will not pretend. I think he made a mistake and he took a wrong decision. He will have stories to tell along the line.<br /> <br /> “It is not the best he could have done. He had a duty to his father to keep the flag of the family flying but the way he is going, I do not think he is doing that.”<br /> <br /> He then urged Mr Saraki to step down to avert consequences, adding that “he should honourably return the crown or be ready to bear the consequences.”<br /> <br /> Mr Adamu, who heads a pro-Buhari Support Group in the Senate, vowed that with the defection, it would not be business as usual.<br /> <br /> He explained that “the defection of Saraki and the other lawmakers is a game changer.<br /> <br /> Senator Abdullahi Adamu<br /> “We expect them to do it amicably and peacefully. They should make sure they do not run away with our crown.<br /> <br /> “If they think they will go and nothing will happen and that it will be business as usual, then they need to think again.<br /> <br /> “I will not say whether we will take steps or not take steps. We hope that between now and resumption of Senate plenary, more events will unfold. We do not want to be in a hurry to speculate.”<br /> <br /> The lawmaker, however, said that if Mr Saraki insisted on leading a Senate with majority of lawmakers from the APC, there would be repercussions.<br /> <br /> On the belief that Mr Saraki did not do anything constitutionally wrong by defecting, and that there was a precedence where former Speaker of House of Representatives, Aminu Tambuwal, defected but remained the Speaker, Mr Adamu said “it will not happen this time. They were maltreated and so dehumanised before they were granted bail and asked to pay through their noses before they regained freedom.<br /> <br /> “This happens on daily basis here in Umunze, Onitsha, Awka, Nnewi, Ekwulobia, everywhere. So, we have decided that none of our members would ‘serve’ any policeman here in Umunze and the entire state.”<br /> <br /> Asked whether the policemen came to them in their uniforms, Kamsi said, “We know them; we know almost all our customers. They don’t need to come to us in their uniforms to be identified.<br /> <br /> “Brother, let me tell you, we get information here. All big men that come here, we know them up to their family level.”<br /> <br /> It was also gathered that about a week ago, the Anambra Police Command raided brothels in various cities in the state and arrested no fewer than 120 persons.<br /> <br /> According to our source, the police raided Morning Star Hotel, Amawbia, Awka South Council Area, arresting about 20 persons.<br /> <br /> The source further said that on Sunday, the police raided Happiness Hotel in Amanwayi, Amawbia at about noon, arresting about six women alleged to be prostitutes.<br /> <br /> The source further alleged that the police also raided Dot4 Hotel, Mgbakwu and Bolin Hotel Nise, as well as another hotel in Ogidi, in the Idemili North Council Area, where about 60 persons were arrested.<br /> <br /> Other areas raided were Amansea, Umunze, Onitsha and Ihiala.<br /> <br /> Kamsi said, “The suspects were raided and bailed with N10,000 each. The police have used such raids for making money.”

He became a strong, driven, pious figure in his early 20s while studying Economics at King Abdulaziz University in Jeddah, where he was also radicalised.<br /> <br /> “The people at (the) university changed him. He became a different man. One of the men he met there was Abdullah Azzam, a member of the Muslim Brotherhood who was later exiled from Saudi Arabia and became Osama’s spiritual adviser. He was a very good child until he met some people who pretty much brainwashed him in his early 20s.<br /> <br /> “You can call it a cult. They got money for their cause. I would always tell him to stay away from them, and he would never admit to me what he was doing, because he loved me so much.”<br /> <br /> One of his younger brothers, Hassan, said the family was initially proud of him when he travelled to Afghanistan to fight the Russian occupation, but that things later changed.<br /> <br /> He said, “I’m very proud of him being my oldest brother. But I don’t think I’m very proud of him as a man. He reached superstardom on a global stage, and it was all for nothing.”<br /> <br /> Another brother of the late terrorist, Ahmad, also said their mother remained in denial about him (Osama) even after 17 years because she loved him so much.<br /> <br /> “She only knows the good boy side, the side we all saw. She never got to know the jihadist side,” he added.<br /> <br /> He said the family knew within 48 hours after the attack that he was the one responsible for the attack. “From the youngest to the eldest, we all felt ashamed of him; we knew all of us were going to face horrible consequences,” he added.
