Bauchi is our traditional state we come to rest not to campaign.<br /> <br /> ” I was here in 2015 and saw what politicians called mammoth crowd, that is crowd that cannot be counted,” he stressed.<br /> <br /> Senator Ali Ndume, had earlier described PDP administration in the last 16 years as Kleptocracy who abused their leadership positions to acquire wealth to extend their power.<br /> <br /> Ndume, who is also the Campaign Director General Buhari/Osinbajo for North East, said that Buhari has fulfilled the promises he made in 2015 on security, economic diversification and war against corruption.<br /> <br /> “Nigerians are today left with two options to either choose those who have the country at heart or those who will destroy the country,” he asserted.<br /> <br /> Gov. Muhammadu Badaru of Jigawa in a goodwill message called on the people of Bauchi to cast 2.5 million votes for Buhari as against the over 1 millions votes during 2015 polls.<br /> <br /> Badaru recalled that Buhari took over the administration when 27 states of the 36 states in the country could not pay workers salaries when crude oil was selling at over $100 US dollars per barrel.<br /> <br /> He enumerated series of projects and programmes executed by the present administration in the country and called on the people not to be deceived by disgruntled politicians.

Ibrahim Dankwambo of Gombe state.”<br /> <br /> Ologbondiyan noted that Sen. Saidu Kumo, who was being celebrated in the APC as having dumped the Atiku campaign team to join President Muhammadu Buhari’s re-election bid, had nothing to do with PPCO and was never assigned any role.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> He urged Nigerians to disregard the claims.<br /> <br /> “Finally, the PPCO assures all Nigerians, particularly our supporters in the North East that our presidential campaign structure is completely intact and rallying Nigerians in their national consensus to vote in Atiku Abubakar as the next President of Nigeria.”<br /> <br /> Ologbondiyan said that no amount of fabrications could change the reality.

Officials of Transmission Company of Nigeria are already in the state preparing the ground to bring power and to enable the people to enjoy 24 /7 electricity . ”<br /> <br /> <br /> Reacting , the company in a statement by Head of Corporate Communications , Mr Tayo Adekunle , said that the Disco did not need an ultimatum to restore power in the state .<br /> <br /> <br /> The Disco said , “ Since late December , power has been restored to most parts of Benin affected by the outage caused by faulty power transformers used by the TCN to wheel power to feeders supplying electricity to the Benin metropolis . Average availability in most locations presently is a minimum of six hours .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Except for few locations with technical fault or isolated issue, nearly 80 per cent of Benin has power supply. As a service provider , BEDC is committed to improving service delivery to the good people of Edo State and other coverage areas . We reconnected three communities in Ekiti and one in Ondo in December , in addition to 42 communities restored back to the grid as of last November . ”<br /> <br /> <br /> “ In all our coverage states , we do not need an ultimatum before fixing issues affecting our service delivery . ”<br /> <div><br /></div>

Some of the guys that make waves in the industry have given 100 per cent of their life to their career.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <br /> “ Most of them who are reigning in the industry today are baby fathers . A lot of them don ’ t even have time for their children . I was caring for my family , so I had little time for my music . It took me time to get myself together , and now that I am ready for music , the competition is very high . I just try to do music because I am passionate about it. It’ s worth it at the end of it all, I have no regrets , ” he said.<br /> <br /> <br /> Asked about some of the differences he has noticed from the period when he started music and now, he stated that a lot had changed in the industry .<br /> “ The difference is clear , it’ s not about talent anymore in the music industry ; it is all about money. If you have money , you can buy music and airtime . In the past, music gets aired based on the quality , but now no matter how good the song is, it is going nowhere.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ However , we are grateful that the Nigerian music industry has grown and it’ s being accepted globally , it is a positive change . A lot of people are doing well; lots of investors now invest in music , ” he said .<br /> <br /> <br /> Recently , the ‘ Pass Me Your Love ’ singer has been using his social media platform to air his views on marriage , music and depression . He used the moment to speak about the motive behind that , while stressing that he was trying to enlighten people .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ I watch a lot of artistes say negative things about marriage ; they fail to understand that if their marriage is not working , they should check themselves . They shouldn ’ t generalise because by doing that , they may mislead their fans . Some of their marriages don ’ t last ; I have been married for nine years but I don ’ t put my wife on social media . I try to take my marriage away from my career.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ We are in the industry where people relate with you the way you portray yourself . A lot of people live fake lives . I have seen people in the industry being neglected because they don ’ t have enough money. There was a time a colleague of mine said people should do away with their friends who don ’ t meet up to their standard, ” he said.<br /> <br /> <br /> Speaking about the death of DJ XGee, AY . Com noted that his death could have been avoided if he had someone to talk to when he was depressed.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The reason why a lot of people are dying due to depression is because they have no one to talk to ; most of them are afraid of people gossiping about them. A colleague of mine relocated to America because a conversation about him and his wife leaked on a blog.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ After this , everybody castigated him for not being able to handle his home . It was one of his friends who his wife was chatting with that leaked the chat on the blog.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The late DJ was not really my close friend , but each time we saw each other , there was always a big smile on his face. I wish he had the opportunity to talk to me , I would have motivated him . I guess he was afraid to speak up because of fear of being neglected . Bukola Saraki, holding federal executive positions will soon be shown the way out.<br /> <br /> <br /> The Minister disclosed this on Thursday in Ilorin at a ceremony organised by the Kwara State All Progressives Congress to sensitise and mobilise the party ’ s women leaders ahead of the forthcoming general elections.<br /> <br /> <br /> The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the minister said that despite Saraki allegedly using his position to sabotage national development to the detriment of the people, his loyalists from Kwara State were still occupying executive positions.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said the Federal Government would not hesitate to sack those beneficiaries in executive positions.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ‘‘ Some of the people they nominated to the boards of government ’ s agencies and parastatals are still there, yet they claim that Kwara has not benefitted from this Federal Government.<br /> <br /> <br /> ‘‘ These people, some of whom are holding executive positions , will soon be shown the way out , ’’ he said.<br /> <br /> <br /> Mohammed said Kwara elections , like that of the general poll, would be issue- based devoid of ethnicity, religion or gender.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said the issues the APC is concerned with in Kwara have to do with good governance and a better life for the people.<br /> <br /> <br /> ‘‘ The main issues here have to do with how our state has been governed in the past 50 years , 40 of which have been dominated by a single family.<br /> <br /> <br /> ‘‘ What has happened to the commonwealth, which has been cornered by a single dynasty at the expense of the people.<br /> <br /> <br /> ‘‘ Where are the roads and other infrastructure to justify the huge resources that have accrued to the state ?<br /> <br /> <br /> ‘‘ If you follow a path for so long, and it leads you nowhere, won’ t you try another path ? One day, I met someone who told me that my son was alive and mentioned where I could find him.<br /> <br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “I was also told he is one of the commanders of the Al Barnawi faction of the Boko Haram sect.<br /> <br /> “I travelled to the shores of the Lake Chad to plead with Ba-Ana to surrender and embrace peace. It took me about one week to get to where I met him.<br /> <br /> “When I arrived at the camp, I told them that I am the father of Ba-Ana and after a series of interrogations, they asked me to wait for him to return from a mission.<br /> <br /> “Ba-Ana returned at night, he was surprised to see me, and when he heard my voice; he told his men that I am his father.<br /> <br /> <br /> “I pleaded with him for about 30 days in a bid to convince him to lay down his arms and embrace peace, regrettably he did not heed my counsel.<br /> <br /> “Ba-Ana confessed that he killed many people and believed that the authorities would not forgive his crimes. He also believed that he had committed his life to the cause of God.<br /> <br /> “I have not lost hope; I will continue to pray to God to heal his soul and bring him back to me,” he said.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, the military said on Wednesday that it was clearing the remnants of Boko Haram on the major road leading to Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.<br /> <br /> A statement signed by the spokesman for the counter-insurgency operation in the North-East, Operation Lafiya Dole, Col. Onyema Nwachukwu, said there was no truth in media reports that the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road had been closed to motorists.<br /> <br /> The Maiduguri-Damaturu Road, he said, was perhaps the only safe road leading to the town and had it been closed, the town would have been cut off from the rest of Nigeria by road.<br /> <br /> The road in the last one week had become the latest theatre of war between the military and the terrorist group which is threatening to capture Maiduguri.<br /> <br /> The insurgents have, however, suffered heavy casualties as they have continued to fall under air and land bombardments of the Nigerian military.<br /> <br /> A statement by Nwachukwu partly read, “Our attention has been drawn to rumours that the Nigerian Army has closed the Maiduguri-Damaturu Road. This is not true. What is happening is an ongoing clearance and snap check operations in the general area required to clear suspected Boko Haram terrorists along that road.<br /> <br /> “The clearance operation is ultimately for the safety and security of motorists and other road users.”<br /> <br /> He added, “Members of the public are advised to cooperate and bear with the troops as they carry out these duties.”

<br /> Dangote Group President Aliko Dangote has retained his Africa’s richest man position for the eighth consecutive time despite the fact that his wealth dipped by $2 billion.<br /> <br /> Dangote’s net worth value, which stood at $12.2 billion in January, last year, is down to $10 billion a year after, the Forbes’ Africa Billionaires List released yesterday showed.<br /> <br /> But Globacom Chairman Mike Adenuga Jnr, with interests in oil exploration and real estate has moved up, ranking next to Dangote as Africa’s second richest man.<br /> <br /> The United States (U.S.) magazine said Adenuga’s net worth rose tremendously from $5.3 billion to $9.2 billion because he provided more detailed information about his assets.<br /> <br /> BUA Group Chief Executive Officer Abdulsamad Rabiu featured on the list for the first time since 2015.<br /> <br /> The merger between Rabiu’s Kalambaina Cement firm with the Cement Company of Northern Nigeria, which he controlled, in December, last year, was formally consummated in Sokoto earlier this week. He now owns 97 per cent of the entity.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Kalambaina, which operates a new cement production facility, started selling cement mid-last year just as Rabiu’s OBU Cement has expanded its operations, adding a new production line.<br /> <br /> Mrs Folorunsho Alakija, whose net worth dropped to $1.1 billion from $1.3 billion, was ranked 19th. She is vice chair, Famfa Oil, an indigenous oil exploration company with a stake in Agbami Oilfield, a prolific offshore asset. Famfa Oil’s partners include Chevron and Petrobras.<br /> <br /> Mrs. Alakija’s first company was a fashion label, whose customers included former military President Ibrahim Babangida and his wife, the late Maryam.<br /> <br /> The Federal Government awarded Mrs. Alakija’s company an oil prospecting license in 1993, which was later converted to an oil mining lease.<br /> <br /> Mrs. Alakija’s ranking tied with South African banker, Michiel Le Roux.<br /> <br /> Forbes blamed plunging stock values and weaker currencies for the shrinking in the billionaires club in Africa.<br /> <br /> It said: “Buffeted by plunging stock prices and weaker currencies, the number of African billionaires has shrunk to just 20, down from 23 a year ago.<br /> <br /> “Four people fell off Forbes’ annual list of the continent’s richest since last year while one returned to the ranks after a four-year absence. All but four members of the list have smaller fortunes than a year ago.”<br /> <br /> In a per country ranking, Egypt and South Africa are tied with five billionaires each, followed by Nigeria with four and Morocco-two.<br /> <br /> Forbes found one billionaire each in Algeria, Angola, Tanzania and Zimbabwe.

He only rushed the vote of thanks and dispersed the meeting.<br /> <br /> Police officers were said to have engaged the hoodlums in gun battle as people ran helter and skelter to for their lives.<br /> <br /> In the milieu that occurred, several people were stabbed and injured.<br /> <br /> Pressmen covering the event were seen fleeing the scene to avoid being caught in the bloody clash.<br /> <br /> Officers of the Lagos State Ambulance Services, LASAMBUS, were said to have conveyed about eight stabbed people to the hospital.<br /> <br /> MC Oluomo was said to have been stabbed and rushed to the hospital.

How this personally affects me and my family is that while I am still required to go to work like normal, I am not currently receiving a paycheck,” one GoFundMe page appearing to have been set up by a federal worker in Malden, Massachusetts, reads.<br /> <br /> “The last monies received was Dec 31st. And from then on I will not receive a paycheck for time worked until the government reopens,” the page, which has so far raised $456 of its $10,000 goal, explains.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “The president has already said he could go months or even a year under this shutdown. Until this shutdown ends, each day funds are getting more and more tight and will eventually run out and I will no longer be able to pay rent or pay utilities and buy food. Any amount you are willing to donate will be greatly appreciated.”<br /> <br /> Last Friday, President Donald Trump, who triggered the shutdown on December 22 after Democrats refused to pass a spending bill that would give the U.S. leader $5.6bn in funding to build his border wall, warned that the shutdown could go on for “a long time,” even years, despite hundreds of thousands of federal workers currently being left without paychecks.<br /> <br /> One page, claiming to be set up by an unpaid worker with the Transportation Security Administration said that “every day is more anxiety and more stress, especially when you are a federal worker on furlough.”<br /> <br /> “Paycheck was very short last pay. Don’t even know when the next check will be coming. Rent is due. And other bills are due. Bills will not wait for the next paycheck if it comes in March,” the page, which has so far raised $40 of its $55,000 goal, states.<br /> <br /> “No one knows when the government is going to be open again and I am forced to go to work for free. How is this ok?”<br /> <br /> “My husband is a veteran and I am a stay at home mom to our 3 blessings! Not to mention he is a federal agent now. He still has to report to work like many others but no checks,” a mother in San Antonio, Texas, states on a GoFundMe page set up for her family. “His last one was short because that day was after they declared the shutdown,” she adds.<br /> <br /> The mother, who says she and her husband have three small children, ages 7, 5 and 3, says that having to turn to crowd funding was “something we never intended to do and then this happened. And right during the holidays.<br /> <br /> “We still don’t know when it’ll open up and things will get right and as the wife and mom, I can’t help but worry about how long will this take….” she states.<br /> <br /> While a number of GoFundMes set up by federal workers appear to have raised hundreds of dollars within days, not all of the responses to their plights have been supportive, with some commenters asking whether workers plan to “give the donations back” once they do receive their arrears.<br /> <br /> This week, the partial government shutdown became one of the top three longest government shutdowns in U.S. history, entering its 18th day on Tuesday. The longest shutdown, which happened in December 1995, lasted 21 days.<br /> <br /> If a deal is not struck by the end of the week and continues into Saturday, the current closures will represent the longest government shutdown on record.

By collecting the PVCs , their intention may be to deprive the voters of voting, since no one can vote without the PVC .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ By collecting their phone numbers and bank details , the intention is to induce voters by electronic transfer of funds to their accounts since it will be difficult to buy votes at polling units.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ By collecting the VINs , they may be acting on the mistaken notion that our system can be hacked into and the Card Readers somehow preloaded ahead of election and compromised .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ We want to reassure Nigerians that we are aware of the new tricks . It is a futile effort .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ We will work with the security agencies to deal with the violators of our electoral laws, including those who may be trying to compromise our staff responsible for making the PVCs available for collection by legitimate voters . ’’<br /> <br /> <br /> Yakubu said that the Commission had responded to the vote buying menace in three ways, including the alteration of the configuration of polling units by moving the ballot boxes closer to the voting cubicles, making it difficult for voters to expose their marked ballot papers.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Secondly, we have introduced a partial ban on the use of mobile phone and other photographic devices by voters while in the voting cubicles.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Thirdly , we are introducing the rolling and flattening of ballot papers by voters before casting them into the ballot boxes . ’’<br /> <br /> <br /> Yakubu disclosed that after the mandatory display of the register in all polling units nationwide for claims and objections from November 6 to November 12 , 2018 , the final register for the 2019 general elections stood at 84 , 004, 084 voters .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ This is the register that will be presented to each political party at today ’ s meeting. It is also the same register that will be available at each polling unit nationwide on election day . ’’<br /> <br /> <br /> He also disclosed that there was no change in the number of polling units and voting points used for the 2015 general elections and the 2016 area council elections in the FCT.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> He said that the commission had printed and delivered the PVCs to the states for collection , urging all registered voters to approach any of its local government offices and other designated collection centres nationwide to pick up their cards in person , not by proxy .<br /> <br /> <br /> Yakubu , who re - emphasised that the Smart Card Readers would be used for the 2019 general elections for the accreditation of voters , disclosed that the register of voters had been modified.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said that where the biometric authentication failed , the voter would be required to thumbprint a box next to his /her picture on the register and to enter his / her mobile telephone number before proceeding to vote .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The Commission has modified the Register of Voters for the 2019 General Elections, accordingly.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Consequently , the separate Incident Form used in previous elections which is only completed by the Presiding Officer without the involvement of the voter is now abolished.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ Similarly, the claim that the Card Reader has been enhanced to recapture voters ’ fingerprints at polling units and automatically overwrite the biometric record on our database is untrue and should be disregarded . ’’<br /> <br /> <br /> Yakubu reminded the leaders of political parties that the deadline for the submission of party agent for Presidential and National Assembly elections was February 1 , while that of governorship , State Assembly and FCT Area Council elections was February 16 .<br /> <br /> <br /> He further said that INEC would keep close watch on campaign finance by political parties by monitoring spending by parties and candidates as well as individual and group donations to campaign organisations .<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The Commission has designed Campaign Finance Reporting Forms to ensure compliance with the reporting requirements by parties.<br /> <br /> <br /> “ The EC 16 C for annual finance reporting by parties, the ECl 6 D for income ( including contributions and donations ) and EC 16 E on party expenditure are already available on the Commission ’ s website. ’’<br /> <br /> <br /> Meanwhile , INEC Director of Voter Register , Mr Iro Gambo , while making a presentation, said that the South - South had 12 , 841 , 279 registered voters , representing 15 . 29 per cent of the 84 , 004 , 084 total number of registered voters .<br /> <br /> <br /> According to him , the North Central has 13 , 366 , 070 voters , representing 15 . 91 per cent; South - East 10 , 057 , 130 registered voters , representing 11 . 91 per cent, and South - West 16 , 292, 212 , representing 19 . 39 per cent of the total number of voters .<br /> <br /> <br /> He added that 20 , 158 , 100 voters , representing 24 per cent were registered in the North - West, while the North - East has 11 , 289 , 293 representing 13 . 44 per cent of the total registered voters .<br /> <br /> <br /> Giving a breakdown of the figure by gender , Gambo said that men constituted 39 , 598 , 645 , representing 47 . 14 per cent while the remaining 44 , 405, 439 making up 52 . 86 per cent of the voters were women .<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> ( NAN)<br /> <div><br /></div>

He was the couple’s only child.<br /> <br /> The boy’s mother who was first to learn that their son had died said, she had been looking forward to celebrating her son’s first birthday.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Naomi Wambui, the couple’s neighbor who had first called the boy’s dad, claims that she had rushed into their house and found their home-help watching television in their living room.<br /> <br /> When she asked where the baby was, the help gestured towards the bedroom where unknown to her, the boy lay on his back, fighting for his life.<br /> <br /> The home-help has since absconded and her whereabouts are unknown.<br /> <br /> The couple has appealed to the public to volunteer any help that may lead to the arrest and prosecution of their former home-help.<br /> <br /> The Teacher’s Police Post in Nakuru where the matter was first reported, have begun investigations.

Sani Usman said in a statement that the troops alongside the Nigerian Air Force Air Task Force component of Operation Lafiya Dole were also in hot pursuit of fleeing members of the insurgents in various encounters of the operations.<br /> <br /> General Usman said the battle has now shifted to the fringes of Lake Chad and other suspected enclaves of Boko Haram in the theatre of war, stating that the troops were buoyed by the presence and motivation of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Tukur Buratai.<br /> <br /> He said: “In their determined efforts of wiping the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists, troops of Operation LAFIYA DOLE have embarked on aggressive clearance operations on suspected Boko Haram terrorists hideouts and crossing points with tremendous results.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “It is in this line that they neutralized quite a number of them and recovered various calibre of arms and ammunition in such areas around Goniri in Yobe State, Damasak, Kross Kauwa and Monguno, among other locations in Borno State.<br /> <br /> “Specifically, the 120 Battalion and the newly formed Nigerian Army Special Forces Command have neutralized over 100 Boko Haram terrorists in various encounters.<br /> <br /> “The Nigerian Air Force Air Task Force components of Operation LAFIYA DOLE have been giving close air support to ground troops and also facilitating hot pursuit of fleeing infiltrating terrorists in the ongoing operations.<br /> <br /> “Significantly, the Air Task Force have destroyed several Boko Haram terrorists gun trucks and facilities.
