President Mohammasu Buhari has stated the Nigeria would not tolerate the state of Biafra. The president spoke against the backdrop of the renewed agitation for the actuation of the republic of Biafra.<br />

Speaking to <i>Aljazeera</i> television during his last visit to Qatar, president Buhari recalled that over two million lives were lost during the Nigeria civil war between 1967 to 1970 on the demand of a Biafran state. He said “At least two millions Nigerians were killed in the Biafra war.<br />

And for somebody to wake up may be they weren’t born.<br />

Looking for Biafra after two millions people were killed, they are joking with the security and Nigeria won’t tolerate Biafra.” Also speaking on the state of Nigerian economy and the pressure to devalue the Naira , president Buhari stated that Nigeria was prepared to go against the advice on International Monetary Fund, IMF in that regard.<br />

He maintained that the devaluation of the Naira would not pay Nigeria, saying the country was purely an import nation. He also stated their despite the plummeting crude oil prices in the international market, it would pay Nigeria to remain in the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries, OPEC. “If it is against our national interest, why can’t we go against the IMF advice?” Buhari asks.<br />

 “We were unable to diversify our economy, hence we are much more disadvantaged by the lower oil prices. Nigeria will make the necessary sacrifice to remain in OPEC”, he said.<br />

 Asked to comment on the anti-terrorism war, the president headed a sigh of relief that no local government area of Nigeria was under the control of the Boko haram insurgents as was the case when he assumed office in May 2015.

A sensational strike by Riyad Mahrez saw Leicester City restore their five-point lead at the top of the Premier League with a 1-0 victory against Watford.<br />

After a largely even first half, the Algerian midfielder produced some magic just before the hour as he curled a beautiful finish into the top corner from the edge of the penalty area.<br />

After Tottenham's 2-2 draw with Arsenal earlier in the day, it puts Claudio Ranieri's side in a commanding position with only nine more games left in the season.<br />

Leicester had numerous chances to put the game beyond doubt but were not made to pay for their profligacy as Watford struggled to create much in the final third. Indeed, the Foxes had little trouble in seeing the game out - the only worry coming in the form of a hamstring injury to Mahrez, who was substituted late on.<br />

Leicester went close to opening the scoring in the fourth minute, with Heurelho Gomes only able to parry Christian Fuchs's low drive before Nathan Ake produced an excellent tackle to prevent Shinji Okazaki from turning in the follow-up.<br />
<br />
Ake headed Ben Watson's free-kick against the top of the crossbar at the other end seven minutes later but it was Leicester who continued to have the better of the play. The visitors spurned a gilt-edged chance to open the scoring in the 23rd minute as Jamie Vardy played in Mahrez down the left-hand side but the Premier League's top scorer could only fire wide from the Algeria international's return pass.<br />

Mario Suarez saw a long-range effort deflected into the arms of Kasper Schmeichel as Watford started the second half brightly but they fell behind courtesy of a piece of magic from Mahrez, who curled a superb left-footed strike beyond Gomes from just inside the area after Watford had failed to fully clear Fuchs's left-wing cross.<br />

Robert Huth then had a close-range header beaten away by Gomes as Leicester sought to kill off the game, before Wes Morgan turned Vardy's dangerous low ball over.<br />
<br />
Gomes was called into action again to keep out a less venomous effort from the excellent Mahrez. Huth then headed wide a Fuchs free-kick in the 71st minute, while Watford's best chance to level fell to leading scorer Odion Ighalo.<br />
<br />
The striker could only nod straight at Schmeichel, though, as Leicester held firm on what could prove to be a pivotal day in their quest for a momentous title win.<br />

<b><br /></b><b>Ex-President Olusegun Obasanjo celebrated his 79th birthday on Saturday and he took a retrospective look at the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, stating that the anti-graft agency has become a toothless bulldog after the exit of the pioneer chairman, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu.</b><br />

The event held at the International Conference Centre, Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.<br />
<br />
He said the ex-EFCC boss handled the job so well, and people coined the saying that the the fear of Ribadu was the beginning of wisdom. But the former president bemoaned the fate of the anti-graft agency, describing it as a toothless bulldog.<br />

He said, looking in the direction of Ribadu, who was present at the event:<br />

“As all know when Nuhu Ribadu was handling the EFCC, he handled it in such a way that people coined the saying that the fear of Ribadu is the beginning of wisdom.<br />

“And the thing you will ask is, how did we go down? How did we lose that, how did we, Nuhu Ribadu is still here, he is still alive, the institution that we started together is still there, what made the institution to become a toothless bull dog?”<br />
<br />
Obasanjo emphasised the need to be serious as a nation, if the nation really wants to develop.<br />
<br />
“We need to work things out so that we don’t take two steps forward, one step and three steps backward,” he said.<br />
<br />
Talking about fighting terrorism and insurgency, the former president recommended the deployment of technology to fight insurgents both at local and global levels.<br />
<br />
Obasanjo who made reference to the theme of the international colloquium: ‘Human Security, Violent Extremism and Radicalisation: Seeking Sustainable Solutions’ held on Saturday as a prelude to his birthday celebration, noted that the deployment of technology became imperative because the insurgents were equally deploying technology to unleash terror on innocent people.<br />
<br />
The former president further added that since technology was in our homes, in our pockets, it should be used to ward off those who made life unbearable for others.<br />
<br />
Eminent Nigerians including former governors, serving ministers and the host governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun paid glowing tributes to the former president, describing as a nationalist, an icon and a special gift to the country.<br />
<br />
Amosun, described him as a nationalist, “who is neither ethno-centric nor an irredentist.” He added that “Baba puts Nigeria first in everything he does.”<br />
<br />
On his own part, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonaya Onu, described Obasanjo as a”special gift to our country, Nigeria, because every time the country had faced any challenge God has used him to solve that challenge.”<br />
<br />
The founder of Living Faith Church, Bishop David Oyedepo later prayed for the celebrant, requesting that God should grant him more years to continue to serve humanity.<br />
<br />
Other personalities present at the event include former governors of Osun and Cross River, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and Liyel Imoke, wife of the late former governor of Ondo State, Mrs Olufunke Agagu, and Lotto magnate and Chief Kessington Adebutu.

Fellow Nigerians, something melodramatic occurred some days ago in Doha, Qatar, United Arab Emirates, where President Muhammadu Buhari dropped a bombshell inadvertently.<br />
<br />
And what was the matter? The President in his usual candour and uncommon honesty announced that one of his major campaign promises was no longer feasible and practicable; the plan to pay unemployed youths a paltry sum of N5,000 monthly stipend was thus summarily jettisoned.<br />
<br />
<a name='more' id="more"></a><br />
<br />
Or so it seemed. To be accurate, what Mr President said with a wry smile was that this was a campaign promise of his Party and was one of the cardinal points of his Party’s Manifesto but he had not personally campaigned about it and it was not going to be a priority of his administration in view of other more significant and important challenges.<br />
<br />
However, all hell broke loose on social media because the President’s body language actually suggested that the pledge was dead in the water and had not just been demoted from the list of priorities. There were several reasons why social and popular media became instantly agog with activity on this issue. Nigerian youths took great risk to get Major General Buhari elected. They trusted him with their lives and expected the change mantra to become reality as soon as the People’s General regained power after being sacked as a military ruler in 1985. Truth is there are already some loud whispers in many quarters that lofty expectations are turning to a mirage and that things are already falling apart. Every explanation that it is too early to expect miracles is hardly treated with belief.<br />
<br />
Thus when the President delivered this seemingly bad news to the expectant nation, it did not go down well with many people. First the location was wrong. I agree that such monumental decisions should not have been announced while sojourning abroad. To some it would appear as if the President was taking the easy pusillanimous way out. Perhaps, the President should have addressed the nation on home soil. Maybe the President could have requested his ruling APC party to take the bullet for him by getting the Party Chairman, Chief John Oyegun, to talk to the nation about the need to revise the manifesto that was sold to the electorate with so much glee. There is nothing wrong if fresh realities have necessitated a change of plans. There is usually a world of difference between the idealism of opposition and the reality of being on the hot seat. It is one of the reasons I don’t envy the President on this present job.<br />
<br />
Mr President and his Party would have to sit down urgently to reappraise things and come out with a tidier and clearer agenda containing the realistic plan for Nigeria and Nigerians in this dispensation. Sooner rather than later, the first year of this administration will come knocking. It would be disastrous if by May 29, 2016, we still cannot have a glimpse of where the government is headed or heading. The staccato, stop-start fashion by which things are being currently handled must yield way to a smoother policy manifestation and implementation. There are many things that need to be worked on speedily.<br />
<br />
The first and most pressing is the economy. What is on ground now has been described by a famous economist as “Robinson Crusoe economics.” Like Robinson Crusoe, our economy is being handled like one man living alone on an uninhabited island but surrounded by cannibals and vermin. The economy is on a freefall, the sort we’ve not encountered before. My humble suggestion is that the President should assemble a crack economic team immediately. Those who wish to hold conferences can still do so especially as we know where similar jamboree conferences have gotten us in the past. However, it is obvious that some people have hijacked the misfortune of Nigeria and turned it into a spectacular goldmine. “Voodoo economics” is being practised by those milking the country dry and their acolytes as well as by others wishing to manipulate themselves into the position of latter day economics experts and get a slice of the national cake. There are at this moment only a few sincere economists about and we should tap into these people but not make the mistake of putting them on the same platform with the evildoers lest we become unable to separate the wheat from the chaff. A nation that fails to consult and use its best brains is doomed and may be permanently jinxed like we seem to have been forever. In any event what is necessary now is not to make the country a debating society where esoteric and grand economic principles are postulated and propounded but a society where practical visionary and meaningful economic policies are garnered and implemented.<br />
As young as I was in the days of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, I was aware that his best asset were the brightest brains he was able to attract and assemble. He gathered their brilliant ideas and merged them with his own. Leadership is thus an art and science of skillfully managing people and resources. It is even easier these days. In the age of advanced technology, where you can buy whatever you lack, including brains. As advanced as Britain is, the Governor of the Bank of England was recruited from Canada. No one raised eyebrows because the most important thing was getting the job done. Our parochialism will kill Nigeria ultimately if care is not taken. Many of the voodooists controlling Nigeria know nothing about modern governance or managing an economy, not to mention an ailing one. What is worse is that they know that they know not but would not agree to allow those who know something to do anything.<br />
<br />
The time has come to declare an emergency on an evil economic apparatus foisted on us by selfish people that may end up ruining our otherwise great country. I believe we should rise above partisan politics and bring our past and present geniuses together including The Vice President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, The Minister of Finance, Mrs Kemi Adeosun, The Governor of the Central Bank, Mr Godwin Emefiele, The Emir of Kano, His Highness Lamido Sanusi, Professor Charles Soludo, Mrs Oby Ezekwesili, Professor Part Utomi, Mr Bismark Rewane, and some of our brilliant University dons to fashion out a way out of this scandalous debacle.<br />
<br />
The next thing is for this government to reflect true frugality and shed the toga of prodigality that is already rearing its ugly head. The President should be alerted about how those outside now believe he has already joined the psychedelic class by wasting resources on flights of fancy and excessively flamboyant and ostentatious airport ceremonies. The social media caught fire last Monday as the pictures of our Brigade of Guards in Scottish kilt fully piped up welcomed the President on his arrival from his Middle East tour went viral. Such frivolity did not reflect the mood of the nation. The President’s winning formula had always been his simplicity, humility and childlike innocence. He must resist the temptation of being corrupted by the carpetbaggers who litter our corridors of power. Running the different tiers of government has been a major drain on our economy. It is also the reason the citizens would not change their ways when government refuses to set good examples.<br />
Everything humanly possible should be done to empower and encourage Mr Babatunde Raji Fashola to give us power.<br />
<br />
 There will never be any meaningful development and progress until we can generate enough electricity and be able to transmit and distribute this effectively. When people shout that we should patronize made in Nigeria products they conveniently forget that most of what we use in making the made in Nigeria products were fabricated and made abroad. At best we are only an assembly line for these products. An average company loses its profit to what should have been provided ordinarily by government. I cannot begin to overemphasise the importance of electricity. Nigerians will never forget whoever can put an end to their life in perpetual darkness. It is worth every effort and investment.<br />
<br />
It is heartening to note that there are those ready and willing to partner with Government at little or no cost to make our dire power situation a thing of the past using both conventional and sustainable energy solutions. All that seems to be required is for government to discard any policy that would be a stumbling block to the utilisation of these opportunities. Nothing must be seen as set in stone. National development requires not only flexibility but a willingness to think outside the box. It is time to seize the moment!<br />
<br />
In the name of God, we must revamp our educational institutions. It is disgraceful that we watched them collapse and we have refused to do anything tangible to bring them back to par with their counterparts elsewhere. The APC should tell and demonstrate in concrete terms what it intends to do to restore the lost glory of our schools from primary to tertiary institutions. Mercifully, the Vice President comes from a scholarly background and hopefully should be able to activate and actualize what the former President Goodluck Jonathan, himself an academic, could not achieve in the five years he spent as substantive number one citizen of Nigeria.<br />
<br />
Without quality education, most of our graduates would never be employed or even become employable. Our school curriculum must now be redesigned in such a way that it can be relevant to the needs and requirements of our tough situations. Entrepreneurship should become a compulsory subject. This is why we must commend and recommend the great initiative by Tony Elumelu’s foundation that seeks to locate and situate hidden talents and future captains of industry. Innovation and inventiveness must be encouraged.<br />
<br />
There are Nigerians undertaking breathtaking research in many fields of human endeavour within the hallowed precincts of our university communities but they do not have the financial muscle or government encouragement and backing to be able to bring their dreams into reality. Great nations are made from developing such talents. Research and development (R & D) is the way to go. Most of our manufacturing companies hardly have any such viable R & D departments. Incentives must be given to all concerned, including funding and tax initiatives, so that our nation may truly enter the industrialised comity of nations and not just pretend that we are better than mere panel beaters!<br />
<br />
Yes, it is time for APC and the Government to set their priorities again but this must be done with a sense of purpose and a desire to take the people to a higher level. May God help them.

A former Nigerian President, Olusegun Obasanjo, on Friday blamed the rise in violence, extremism and insecurity in the land on the failure of homes, schools, churches and mosques.<br />
<br />
According to him, those key institutions have failed in their responsibilities in inculcating the right values in children.<br />
<br />
He spoke at the 2016 National Summit and 4th International Colloquium themed, “Human Security,Violent Extremism and Radicalisation, Seeking Sustainable Solutions.”<br />
<br />

The event was organised by the Centre for Human Security at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library,Abeokuta, as part of his 79th birthday celebration.<br />
<br />
“If we do not get it right from home, we have started losing the battle. Communialism is going down the drain'” Mr. Obasanjo said.<br />
<br />
“There is a popular saying that four eyes brought a child to the world, and 200 eyes nurtured the child, but where is the 200 eyes of the community. Unless we are able to deal with present problems.<br />
<br />
‘We do everything with impunity. We have been dealing with issues beyond us. We ought to prevent it. Prevention is even cheaper than cure. Can we prevent? Can prevention be part or best of our solution?<br />
<br />
“We can also see where things are going down. We have home or houses, what happened at home, What do we teach? Moral training, values start from home. Home is very important, but parents do many wrongs.”<br />
<br />
The former president urged the international community to rise up to the challenge posed by global insecurity, warning that their indifference poses serious consequences for innocent citizens.<br />
<br />
He pointed out that the international community should also be conscious of the need to ensure there is justice and fairness in tackling insecurity to ensure sustainable peace.<br />
<br />
Mr. Obasanjo cited some countries now witnessing serious conflict as a result of injustice and negligence on the part of the international community.<br />
<br />

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to launch the cleanup of Ogoniland in the coming weeks, says the Minister of Environment, Amina Mohammed. The minister announced this when she paid a courtesy visit to Gov. Nyesom Wike of Rivers.<br />

“It is hoped that we will have this launch in the coming weeks and the president himself will launch the cleanup. “It is really to us a turning point in the history of the struggle. Ogoniland is the first place where actions need to be – cleanup.<br />

“There is a wide challenge of pollution in the Niger Delta. We are here to begin activities toward the launch of the cleanup with stakeholders’ dialogue.<br />
<br />
“We are beginning in Rivers because this is the home of the struggle but we know it is wider,’’ she said.<br />
<br />
The minister said that the cleanup of the Ogoniland would span between 25 and 30 years. However, Wike advised the Federal Government that to achieve success, the cleanup must not be politicised as there were diverse interests.<br />
<br />
The governor urged the Federal Government to be careful not to bring politics into the cleanup in order to achieve success. “It doesn’t matter the political party that anybody belongs to, environmental issue does not affect a political party; it affects the entire state and the entire Niger Delta as a whole.<br />
<br />
“Communities do not know about political parties, what communities know is about how to survive. “And so, I will advice that we approach it in such way that it does not look political, particularly in Ogoniland, it is a very complex place; you have to be extremely careful. “Because if you are not careful you may not achieve what you want you intend to achieve,’’ the governor warned.<br />
<br />
According to him, there are political undertones to most of these things that are happening hence it was very difficult for the former government to do what they are supposed to do. He advised that all stakeholders must be brought on board for the exercise to succeed. Wike assured the minister that the state government would give all the necessary support to ensure the success of the cleanup, adding no government would be happy to see Ogoniland in its present state.<br />
<br />
He said he was interested in whatever affects Rivers and the entire Niger Delta that had to do environmental pollution and other issues. Wike said the environmental degradation in the entire Niger Delta and more in particular in Ogoni area has been a major concern to all. According to him, it partly has to do with oil exploration that has left so many communities not to have potable water. So many communities who are farmers can no longer go to farm; communities who dwell on fishing can no longer fish because of oil pollution.<br />
<br />
“We have problem with the multinational who would not immediately try to clean up when pollution happens. “Unfortunately, there is this divide and rule tactics that most multinational would always want to adopt and unfortunately too, our communities fall into such trap,’’ he said.<br />
<br />
President Buhari in August 2015 approved several actions to fast-track the long delayed implementation of the United Nations Environmental Programme report on the environmental restoration of Ogoniland. He also approved the composition of the Hydrocarbon Pollution Restoration Project (HYPREP) Board to reflect a new governance framework, comprising a Governing Council, a Board of Trustees and Project Management.

In a statement issued by the Command’s Police Public Relations Officer‎, Muyiwa Adejobi, he described the news as baseless and untrue.<br />

The statement read,”‎ The attention of the Ogun State police command has been drawn to a rumour in circulation that there is an ethnic clash between Yoruba and Hausa in Ogere,Ogun State.<br />

Adejobi, a Deputy Superintendent of Police said the command is not leaving any stone unturned to ensure peaceful co-existence among tribal groups in the state.<br />

He added that the ‎state Commissioner of Police, Abdulmajid Ali had urged members of the public to disregard the rumour and go about their lawful businesses as there was no breach of peace in any part of Ogun State.<br />

<b><br /></b><b>The Department of State Services said on Saturday that it had arrested one Garba Abubakar, who it claimed was a gun fabricator for Boko Haram.</b><br />

It said that Abubakar was arrested in Jos, Plateau State, during a special tactical operation by the Service.<br />

A statement issued by the department’s spokesman Tony Opuiyo, said that the arrest was in line with the Service’s statutory mandate, and avowed commitment to national security.<br />

He described Abubakar, an engineer who was arrested on March 2, 2016, as “a major gun fabricator, arms-runner and a covert linkman/courier for the Boko Haram group.”<br />
<br />
Opuiyo claimed that during the arrest, two pistols, 80 rounds of live ammunition and several sensitive documents were recovered from him.<br />
<br />
He added that in a bid to employ propaganda to manipulate the international community against the efforts of the Federal Government, in the ongoing war against terror in the North-West region, the suspect had approached a foreign mission in Nigeria for logistics and financial support to fight the Boko Haram.<br />
<br />
The statement said, “However, unknown to the mission, he is actually an unauthorized gun-maker/runner with intent for mischief and communal strife in the North-Central region.”<br />
<br />
He added that in furtherance of exploited leads, the Service apprehended other suspected associates of the gun-runner.<br />
<br />
Those listed were Umar Khalil Muhammed and Mohammed Yakubu Tahir, aka Mallam Yaro, who he said were also apprehended March 2.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo said that Muhammed was arrested at Layin Oscar in Jos South LGA, while Tahir was apprehended up at Mista Ali area, along Jos-Zaria road in Bassa LGA.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo said, “The duo are accomplices and active marketers of Abubakar and his products to criminal elements in the North-Central region of the Country.”<br />
<br />
In strengthening its counter-terrorism strategy, he said that the Service also arrested one Armaya’u Yakubu a.k.a Ali Tekwando, Yakubu Sule and Usman Ibrahim on 3rd March, 2016, at Hayin Danmani area in Kaduna metropolis.<br />
<br />
He alleged that the three men were members of an extremist cell under the coordination of Yakubu, with affiliation to the proscribed extremist group, ANSARU.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo further alleged that the three suspects had been perfecting plans to travel to Sudan, for terrorist training with other radical elements of the group.<br />
<br />
He reemphasize the resolve of the Service to sustain the fight against organized vices and criminalities by terrorists, kidnappers, fraudsters and other deviant elements in the country.<br />
<br />
Opuiyo urged law abiding Nigerians and indeed, all residents to continue to support law enforcement/security agencies, with proactive and actionable intelligence, for the sustenance of peace, law and order.

He added that there was no truth in the allegations that he collected 23 exotic cars purchased from proceeds of oil swap.<br />

Describing the allegation against him as baseless, the Secondus explained that he only received two cars and buses as gift from his friend staggered between 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015.<br />
<br />
It will be recalled that Secondus was granted administrative bail on Wednesday night, after spending eight days in EFCC detention over allegation that he collected 23 cars from Omokore.<br />

Secondus also described his arrest and detention by the EFCC ‎as part of political intimidation by the All Progressives Congress against the opposition political parties.<br />

Secondus frowned at his detention by the EFCC, which he blamed on what he termed “political intimidation and harassment of political opponents.”

Members of the Peoples Democratic Party in Imo State engaged in a free for all on Saturday at the party secretariat in Owerri.<br />

The fracas started when a faction of the party led by Chief Nnamdi Anyaehie disrupted a meeting of the Caretaker Committee led by Vitalis Okafor.<br />
<br />
Okafor, whose Caretaker Committee was inaugurated on January 29, 2016 to pilot the affairs of the party for three months, had hardly settled down for business with his members when the Nnamdi Anyaehie-led faction stormed the secretariat and attempted to chased everybody away.<br />
<br />

Member of the clashing factions were later dispersed by armed policemen manning the secretariat after which Anyaehie and his supporters drove away in a long convoy.<br />
<br />
After the fight, during which many people sustained injuries, the police cordoned off the premises.<br />
<br />
Okafor told journalists later that Anyaehie was responsible for the avoidable confusion within the party, accusing him of scheming to perpetuate himself in office.<br />
<br />
He said the meeting was convened to brief members of the party on the latest development in the legal battle between his committee and the Anyaehie faction.<br />
<br />
Okafor said Anyaehie’s tenure had since expired as pronounced by the Party’s National Executive Council, which subsequently installed his caretaker committee to preside over the affairs of the party for three months.<br />
<br />
He said, “The people of the state and the PDP have rejected them because they have failed; yet, they do not want to read the writing on the wall.”<br />
<br />
Okafor, however, advised members of the party to remain calm and law abiding and to go to their various LGAs and spread the news that the Anyaehie-led executive had been rejected.<br />
<br />
“It is regrettable that somebody, who parades himself as a party Chairman could engage thugs to disrupt a meeting authorised by the National Publicity Secretary of our party, Chief Oliseh Metu.’’<br />
<br />
Anyaehie could not be reached for comments as he has failed to pick his calls or return calls.

Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson officially ended his bid for the White House on Friday after failing to win any of the early states in the race for the November election.<br />

“There are a lot of people who love me, they just won’t vote for me,” Carson said in a speech at the Conservative Political Action Conference.<br />
<br />
Carson had announced on Wednesday he did not see a “political path forward” in his campaign for the party’s nomination, and had not attended the Republican debate in Michigan on Thursday.<br />
<br />

I have lived a blessed life and achieved more success than I ever dreamed was possible. Running for President was never on my bucket list, and when I was drafted by a grassroots movement asking me to do so, it was not a decision that I made lightly and saw as an act of service.<br />
<br />
However, I believed that my values, life experience and common sense solutions put me in a position to help get our nation back on track for the sake of our children and grandchildren. This grueling endeavor would not have been worth it for any other reason.<br />
<br />
When I began exploring a run for President as a private citizen detached from the political class, I had neither a political team nor a national network of wealthy donors standing by waiting to support me.<br />
We had to build a grassroots campaign from scratch by reaching out to as many people as possible, as quickly as possible and through every means possible, resulting in indisputable success. This movement consistently outraised the entire Republican field, got onto every ballot and built a 50-state, bricks-and-mortar campaign infrastructure to share my story, values and solutions. It was an historic feat, and I’ll be forever grateful to my team and my incredible supporters, financial and otherwise, from all corners of America, on behalf of the best interests of the American people.<br />

I hope my presence added a measure of civility to the race, raised issues that would not otherwise have been discussed and had an overall positive impact. While our political efforts must come to a close, gratefully, the grassroots movement that has given new voice to “We the People” and inspired millions will continue.<br />

I may be departing the campaign trail, but I will not be departing the scene. Instead, for the rest of my life, I will continue to work tirelessly to do everything I can to save America for the next generation.<br />

I will be working on a number of initiatives, including serving as honorary chair of My Faith Votes, a non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing the 25 million Evangelicals who didn’t vote in the last election. (2) If they have ideas that are clear and policies that are easy to find.<br />

the people they are with, what they are saying and how they collaborate with others.<br />
(5) Their ethics, because what America needs is “Trickle-down ethics.<br />

Conservatives should not be embarrassed by capitalism, but must couple it with compassion, to lift people out of a culture of dependency and provide ladders of opportunity for all Americans to be a part of the fabric of society.<br />
<br />
People need to understand this is a most important election, in which we are deciding whether we allow the government to dictate our rights and take care of our needs, or whether individuals will rise up and take responsibility in an atmosphere of opportunity for all.<br />
<br />
The bottom line is, “We the People” are the ones making the decisions; but in order to do that, we must become active and informed, not manipulated by the political classes and media.<br />
<br />
Along with millions of patriots who have supported my campaign for President, I remain committed to saving America for future generations. We must not depart from our goals to restore what God and our Founders intended for this exceptional nation.<br />
<br />
Equally important, we need to understand that Republicans are not each others’ enemies. We need to engage in conversation and challenge each others’ positions, not fight each other. Conservatives need to unify together so that that we do not snatch defeat from the jaws of victory and put another secular progressive in the White House.

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Yusufu Buratai, has reiterated the pledge of the Nigerian Army to sponsor the education of children of its personnel who lost their lives during the counter-insurgency operations in the North East.<br />

He made the pledge through the Chief of Administration Army, Major General Adamu Abubakar, during the presentation of the Group Life Assurance cheques to the Next of Kins each of the bereaved families at the Army Headquarters.<br />

The Commissioner for Science and Technology in Sokoto state, northern Nigeria, Nasir Zarummai, is dead.<br />

Zarumai died Friday night at the Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.<br />
His death occurred just one month to his 43rd birthday celebration.<br />
<br />
The sad incident was announced very early on Saturday in a terse statement signed by Bashar I. Jabo, the. Media Assistant to the All Progressives Congress in Sokoto state.<br />
<br />
“It is with deep regret that I have to announce the death of Hon. Nasir Zarummai (Commissioner Of Science & Technology, Sokoto State) who passed away last night, 4th of March 2016 at at Usmanu Danfodio University Teaching Hospital after a brief illness.<br />
<br />
“May his soul rest in peace!” The statement read.<br />
<br />
The late Nasir Zarummai was born in Sokoto North Local Government Area of Sokoto State on 4 April, 1973.<br />
<br />
He got a Bachelors degree in Computer Science at the Usman Danfodio University, Sokoto in 1998 and was the IT administrator in the University from 2000 to 2005.<br />
<br />
He later became the Technical Coordinator for the Identity Card project between 2003 and 2004 and joined the United Nations System (WHO, IT Assistant) in Nigeria between 2005 and 2007.<br />
<br />
He became Special Adviser on ICT to former Governor Aliyu Wamakko of the state between 2007 and 2013.<br />
<br />
Zarumai was also a Federal Commissioner, Federal Character Commission.

THE Fulani community in Benue State, accused of killing hundreds in Agatu in Benue State, said on Thursday that the crisis started after 10,000 of cattle belonging to its members were killed by Agatu natives.<br />

Ado Boderi, who spoke on behalf of the Fulani community on Thursday, during a meeting between Agatu community, Fulani community and Police Inspector General Solomon Arase, said criminal elements from both sides escalated the crisis despite the quick intervention of the governor.<br />

He said that Fulani herdsmen were a peace-loving people, whose main concern was the problem of cattle rustling.<br />
<br />
Akpa Iduh, who spoke on behalf of the Agatu people, decried the continued unprovoked attacks on his people by “Fulani mercenaries”.<br />
<br />
Mr. Iduh, who said that the crisis started over five decades ago, lamented that it had recently turned into a war because of the types of weapons the herdsmen were using against them.<br />
<br />
He alleged that the “Fulani mercenaries” were killing both children and pregnant women on sight, adding that they were powerless after embracing the Benue Amnesty Programme and surrendered illegal arms to government.<br />
<br />
“The herdsmen are bent on turning our land into their grazing area, thereby rendering us homeless and without food.<br />
<br />
“Is it because we are minority and poor that they are using their numerical advantage and wealth against us?<br />
<br />
“We are going to remain in Agatu until the day they have succeeded in killing all of us.”<br />
<br />
The Inspector- General of Police, Solomon Arase, said in Makurdi that the force had deployed enough policemen to end the clashes between Agatu farmers and herdsmen in Benue.<br />
<br />
Mr. Arase, who was on a fact-finding mission to the state, made the assertion at a meeting between Agatu farmers and herdsmen.<br />
<br />
He disclosed that the force had deployed additional four units of police teams to the area to arrest the situation.<br />
<br />
“I am in Benue on the directives of Mr President on a fact- finding mission and to also see if there is a way to resolve the crisis.<br />
<br />
“We have enough security officers to end the ongoing crisis between farmers and herdsmen in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue.<br />
<br />
“We have also deployed additional four units of police teams in the area to arrest the situation.<br />
<br />
“There is no way we can all live together without having disagreements with one another at some point; it is the way we manage the disagreements that matters.<br />
<br />
“Both the farmers and herdsmen must learn to cohabit with one another as a nation for the peace and progress of our people,” he said.

An ally of Ekiti State Governor Ayo Fayose and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Pastor Yemi Olayinka, has defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress (APC).<br />
<br />
Olayinka who joined the APC at Ado Ekiti Ward 8 Thursday evening said Ekiti is now reeling under a one-man dictatorship which has made governance to grind to a halt and inflicted hardship on the masses through “anti-people policies.”<br />

Speaking with reporters shortly after being admitted into his new party (APC), Olayinka described PDP as a “dead party that is already waiting for its final funeral” owing to the alleged autocratic leadership style of Fayose.<br />
<br />
The former Special Assistant to the Governor on Youth Matters accused Fayose of deceiving voters in the run-up to the June 21, 2014 governorship election by claiming that he (Fayose) has changed noting that “Ekiti people have now realized that a leopard cannot change its spot.”<br />
<br />
Olayinka was received into the party by Acting State Chairman of APC, Mrs. Kemisola Olaleye, ward and local government executives of the party.<br />
<br />
According to him, the governor’s leadership style has forced prominent members of the PDP including foundation members to leave the party and portrayed it in bad light before the people of the state.<br />
<br />
Olayinka said: “I love PDP so well that I decided that come rain, come sunshine, I will never defect to APC. But when Fayose came, he hijacked the party. He is the State Working Committee, the Commissioners, the Assembly members, to the extent that nobody could have a say.<br />
<br />
“He has forgotten so soon that during his misadventure to Labour Party, some of us stayed back in the PDP and prevented it from total collapse. If PDP had died before he came, would he have won the governorship ticket? Today, Fayose has succeeded in killing the party in Ekiti .<br />
<br />
“I can’t afford to stay in a party that is being controlled by a power-greedy individual. I am a team player and I believe in the ethos of democracy, so we are leaving the PDP for Fayose all alone”.<br />
<br />
Olayinka promised to work for the unity of APC at ward, local government and state levels also pledged to work hard to ensure that his new party bounces back to power at the next governorship poll.<br />
<br />
Speaking at the ceremony, Mrs. Olaleye said party members need unity more than ever before to deliver Ekiti people from alleged misrule and dictatorship of the PDP-led administration.<br />
<br />
She said the door of the party is open to new members who are willing to join urging party’s old members not to discriminate against those coming into the party. She said that new members will enjoy same privilege as old members.<br />

She said: “As much as our doors are open to whoever wants to join us, we will<br />
<br />
also be mindful by screening whoever signifies intention, so that we won’t allow an anarchist into our midst.<br />
<br />
“You can see that there is no disunity or groupings again in APC, all of us are now under one big umbrella called APC.”<br />
<br />
Meanwhile, Fayose has threatened to shut down the Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) over alleged failure of the authorities to remit taxes due to the state government.<br />
<br />
Fayose handed down the warning while playing host to the new FUOYE Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Soremekun, in his office on Thursday in Ado Ekiti.<br />
<br />
Fayose maintained that payment of taxes is important and should be respected by the school without which it would face the consequences.<br />
<br />
Earlier in his remarks, Prof Soremekun pleaded with Fayose to show understanding because FUOYE was already remitting 50 percent of the taxes accruing to the Ekiti State government.<br />
