The police command in Imo State said it shot dead a notorious kingpin of an armed robbery gang during a gun duel in Nsu forest, Ehime-Mbano council area of the state.
The notorious robbery kingpin was popularly known as Bugatti.
The Commissioner of Police (CP) in the state, Rabiu Hussaini, disclosed this on Saturday in a statement by the spokesman for the command, CSP Mike Abattam.
He said the kingpin had been on the wanted list of the police after leading a series of deadly armed robbery attacks in the state.

The CP further said that two of the robbery gang members escaped with bullet wounds, while a revolver pistol was recovered from the deceased.
“Following information received by the vigilante group of Nsu community on August 20, 2021 at about 1420 hours, one of the notorious leaders of an armed robbery gang who is on the wanted list of the community was sighted in the community.
“The community’s vigilante group that has been working in synergy with the police immediately alerted the police patrol team in the area and the team moved to where the suspect and his gang members were hiding in the bush,” the statement said.
It added: “On sighting the security men, they opened fire and during the gun duel, the leader of the group, `Bugatti’, was neutralised and his gun recovered and taken to the station, while the other two suspects escaped with bullet wounds.
“When the revolver was checked, it was discovered that it was one of the police revolvers that were carted away during the #ENDSARS saga, when the Police Area Command Headquarters at Ehime Mbano was attacked by hoodlums.
“Meanwhile, efforts are on to arrest the two suspects who escaped with bullet wounds and other members of the gang presently in hiding.
“The CP, while commending the good people of Imo for their undaunting support to the command, urged all the communities in the state to form vigilante groups in their areas to work in synergy with the police.”

The Osun State Government has reacted to the killing of five farmers by gunmen in Ile-Ife, urging the residents of Ife and Modakeke towns to keep calm.
The victims were on motorcycles on their way to their farms when they were ambushed and killed.
According to the State Commissioner for Information, Funke Egbemode, the state government officials have met with heads of security agencies, and they are on top of the situation.
Egbemode, who allayed the fears of a possible resurgence of the Ife/Modakeke crisis, appealed to the people of the areas not to allow criminal elements to seize any situation to unleash mayhem.

The commissioner said that government has also ordered immediate deployment of armed policemen with support from the army in the troubled areas to forestall possible breakdown of law and order.
While sympathising with the families of those who died in the unfortunate incident, Mrs Egbemode called on security operatives to get to the root of the circumstances leading to the death of the deceased.
She also urged the residents and citizens not to take laws into their hands.
According to her, the governor personally spoke to the Ooni of Ife, Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and the Ogunsua of Modakeke, Moses Oyediran Oladejo, on the situation.
She added that they both assured him of their commitment to peace by ensuring that the people from both areas also remain peaceful and law-abiding.
“As government, we have resolved to do everything possible to protect citizens from actual and potential threats.
“To this end, we have ordered immediate deployment of security operatives to restore law and order.
“We have also directed security operatives to arrest and prosecute any person found fomenting trouble and to fish out those responsible for the killing of the five farmers.
“The state government, therefore, enjoins all citizens to be peaceful and law-abiding as all efforts shall be made to protect them and their property,” she said.

Big Brother Naija Season 6 housemate, Whitemoney has revealed why he cannot have a relationship with Queen.
Queen, during a conversation with Whitemoney on Friday night, asked him If he liked her or had any plans of having an intimate  relationship with her.
In response, Whitemoney said he hasn’t processed things like that in his head.
He also noted that Queen is confused, adding that he doesn’t want to make it worse for her.

The Lagos State Police Command has apprehended two suspected kidnappers, Desmond Ikechukwu Okafor (21) and Egwuonwu Gift Iyke (34).
Adekunle Ajisebutu, Public Relations Officer in a statement on Saturday said they conspired and kidnapped 8-year-old Daniel Chukwudi on 11th July, 2021.
The crime was executed by the victim’s neighbour, Okorafor, who used his access to the family to lure the victim from his parents’ home at Aboru in Ipaja.
Okoroafor took Chukwudi to Ajangbadi area of Lagos where he was kept for six days before a successful rescue operation.
<a name='more' id="more"></a>One day after the act, the suspects reached out to the parents, demanded N2.5million as ransom and threatened to kill the victim.
The State Intelligence Bureau opened an investigation and launched a manhunt which led to the arrest of the abductors in their hideouts.
The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu has directed that the suspects be charged to court.
Odumosu also ordered operatives to bust other kidnappers and criminal elements in Lagos.

The Federation Accounts Allocation Committee has shared N760.717bn as federation allocation for the month of July.
This is contained in a statement by Mr. Oshundun Olajide, Deputy Director (Information), Ministry of Finance, Budget and National Planning on Friday.
The statement noted that the meeting was held virtually.
He said that out of the N760.717bn shared, the Federal Government received N325.988bn, the states received N224.929bn while the Local Government Councils got N168.424bn.

“The total amount shared was inclusive of Value Added Tax and Exchange Gain.
Meanwhile, the oil producing states received N41.376bn as derivation (13 percent of Mineral Revenue).
The communique issued by the committee indicated that the gross revenue available from the VAT for July was N151.134bn as against N154.465bn distributed in June.
This resulted in a decrease of N3.331bn.
“The distribution is as follows; Federal Government got N21.083 billion, the States received N70.278 billion, Local Government Councils got N49.194bn, Allocation to NEDC received N4.534bn and cost of collection/transfers/ refunds got N6.045bn.
“The distributed Statutory Revenue of N601.095 billion received for the month was lower than the N812.409 billion received for the previous month by N211.314 billion, from which the Federal government received N303.765 billon, States got N154.074 billion, LGCs got N6118.785 billion, and Derivation (13 per cent Mineral Revenue) got N41.081 billion.”
The communique also revealed that Companies Income Tax, Petroleum Profit Tax (PPT), and Oil and Gas Royalties recorded significant decreases, while Import and Excise Duty, VAT decreased marginally.
It, however, disclosed that total revenue distributable for the current month inclusive of Gross Statutory Revenue of N617.705 billion, VAT of N140.555 billion, and Exchange Gain of N2.457 billion, bringing the total distributable revenue to N760.717bn.

Femi Fani-Kayode, a former Aviation Minister, has reacted to the backlash from Nigerians after he shared pictures with Isa Pantami, the minister of communications and digital economy and other politicians at President Muhammadu Buhari’s son wedding in Kano.
Fani-Kayode, a fierce critic of Buhari government had on Facebook said he flew into Kano in the company of Pantami; Bello Matawalle and Babagana Zulum, governors of Zamfara and Borno; Nuhu Ribadu, and other dignitaries, which the PDP Chieftain had publicly attacked.

Recall that in May, 2021, dozens of children were kidnapped from a Muslim Koranic school in Tegina, Niger State,
Parents of the kidnapped students raised N11 million Naira as payment for ransom, but the bandits increased the ransom to N22million Naira. The parents who could no longer afford the ransom have since rested their hope in the hands of God.

There is tension in Ile-Ife and Modakeke in Osun State as at least five persons were found brutally murder while going to their farm.
Sources told newsmen that the bodies were found in Modakeke in the early morning of Friday at Toro road.
The Osun State Police spokesperson, SP Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the incident, adding that a team of police operatives has been drafted to the towns.

The High Court sitting in Birnin Kudu, Jigawa State, has on Thursday sentenced Prof. Steve Uchella and Boniface Afifa Oru to five years’ imprisonment for forgery.
The convicts were brought before presiding judge, Justice Musa Ubale, on three count charges of criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust and forgery.
The defendants were first arraigned on 21 March, 2018, before the court over alleged money forgery.
The accused pleaded not guilty to all three count charges leveled against them.

The prosecution counsel however provided seven witnesses to testify on the offence.
The judge therefore held that the prosecution counsel has proved their case beyond reasonable doubt. The pair were found guilty and convicted.
He sentenced them to three months’ imprisonment or a fine of N30,000 each for the offence of conspiracy while they both got five-year jail terms or a fine of N500,000 each for criminal conspiracy and breach of trust.

The Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said the Petroleum Industry Act (PIA) will engender a conducive environment for a more efficient downstream sector.
IPMAN’s National President, Alhaji Sanusi Fari, made this known in a statement in Awka on Friday.
Fari lauded President Muhammadu Buhari for the political will in signing the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB) into law, after many years of botched proposals.
He described the President’s assent to the PIB, as an important milestone in the life of this present administration and a major breakthrough in the downstream business of petroleum products sales and marketing.

He also lauded the National Assembly, for the courage to ensure that the bill sailed through, in spite of the obvious challenges.
The IPMAN president said though the PIA was not without imperfections, it would bring transparency and accountability, which would result in better profitability for the greater number of Nigerian people.
According to him, the PI Act, 2021 is long overdue, in spite of some disagreements on some issues, it will usher in a new era of transparency and accountability in the administration of petroleum resources in the country.
Fari said commercializing the Nigeria National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) under the Act, would not only break its monopolistic grip of the industry but make it profit-oriented and more answerable to Nigerians.
He said the PIA would open the space for more importers of petroleum products, thereby, giving way for competitive pricing and also encourage investments in refineries.
According to him, the PIA Act will end the era of NNPC, being the sole importer of Premium Motor Spirit, and increase competition by investors, which is likely to lead to improvement of the economy.
“Under this Act, the NNPC will soon be transformed into a limited company, which will start paying taxes to the Federal Government and dividends to shareholders.
“With this Act, there will be improved efficiency in the commercialized NNPC and IPMAN members, in no distant time, can easily plan for various means of supply of products to their outlets as the market will now be open.
“All our local refineries that have not been in operation will come back to life because of the likelihood of making returns on investments, after the repairs,” it stated.
Fari, however, pledged IPMAN’s continued support for the Federal Government toward achieving its laudable objectives in the petroleum industry, in the interest of citizens.

The Bauchi State Command of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has declared that the State is turning into a den of illicit drugs like Cocaine and Metaphytamine, thereby making the fight against hard drugs more fierce.
The declaration was made by the State Commandant of NDLEA, Segun Oke, in Bauchi, the state capital, at the launch of War Against Drug Abuse.
According to him, there was the need for all stakeholders to rally round the campaign against illicit drugs in the state with a view to having a free drug abuse society.
“In the course of our operations, we have intercepted drugs, popular drugs like Canabis Sativa, Tramadol, cough mixtures with Codeine and recently we have began to see indications that Cocaine, Metaphytamine are coming into Bauchi State,” Oke disclosed.

He submitted that the stakeholders’ meeting was aimed at getting meaningful inputs from critical stakeholders on how to join hands with the Agency in securing the society from the activities of drug peddlers.
While displaying assorted illicit drugs seized across the state, Oke declared that NDLEA was on the neck of drug peddlers as the agency was not giving any breathing space for drug abuse in the State.
He disclosed that operatives of the agency operate across the state, adding that they were on roads, especially entry points into the state and black spots where people go to abuse drugs.
Oke, therefore, appealed to families, stakeholders, religious bodies, including mosques and churches, to sensitize members of the society on the evil of drugs abuse.
Meanwhile, the Bauchi State government has assured of its readiness to support the anti-drugs agency for it to succeed in the fight against the menace of drug abuse in the state.
The state governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, gave the assurance at the launch of the war against drug abuse, submitting that drug abuse is a worrisome development in every society.
Represented by his Special Adviser on Security Matters, General Marcus Yake (rtd), the governor said drugs abuse was one of the main causes of social vices in the society.
“Anybody involved in drugs, the next tendency is for such person to commit evil act and that is why we are having insecurity today in our society,” Governor Mohammed declared.
He commended the NDLEA for organising the stakeholders’ meeting, which he said was a good step towards fighting drug abuse not only in the state but also in the country and submitted that the task of fighting drugs menace was everybody’s business.
“This interactive session is very good because it has accorded all the stakeholders the opportunity to make necessary contributions towards the fight against the menace, though NDLEA is the leader in the fight against drug abuse,” the governor said.
He noted that holistic approach had to be adopted in the fight against the menace of drug abuse, adding that the problem ought to be tackled from its root.
“The fight can be achieved when those that either farm the drugs or the main dealers and not the consumers only are arrested and prosecuted. That is fighting the menace from the roots,” he submitted.
Governor Mohammed, however, called for synergy among various agencies involved in the fight against drug abuse, including detecting, identifying, reporting, prosecuting and punishing offenders.

The National Prayers Congress of Kogi East Christian Elders/Leaders Forum, has enjoined the people of Middle Belt to protect their God-given territory/land against land grabbers and invaders masquerading as Fulani herdsmen, bandits and kidnappers, whose sole aim is to dislodge and over run the Middle Belt.
In a communique jointly signed by the National President and National Coordinator of the Forum, Joseph Eguda and Samuel Salifu, made available to newsmen in Kaduna after a two-day prayers over poverty and insecurity in Kogi East senatorial zone, the members prayed against the activities of kidnappers, bandits and land grabbers.
The two-day prayers with the theme, “The Corporate Welfare of Kogi East”, had in attendance by National, State and Local Officers of the Forum, prominent Christian leaders, as well as Christian traditional rulers within Kogi East.
It further explained that delegations from the Middle Belt, Yoruba and Igbo Nations, Pan Niger Delta Elders Forum (PANDEF) and other groups were also in attendance.

The meeting noted that Middle Belt should give full resistance to such tendencies and Kogi East should remember the exploits of the Igala Kingdom in earlier days.
According to the communique, “the forum encourages members to be vigilant and watch the unfolding sequence of electoral happenings in the country, while identifying ourselves fully with the corporate yearnings of the Middle Belt.”
It noted that “the Kogi East elders/ leaders stand by the will of the people with respect to the request for the creation of Okura State.”
According to the communique, “The Forum stressed the need for synthesis of community associations of any form in Kogi State to work towards the social economic growth and well-being of the people.”
Participants, however, commended the Kogi State Government for the priority attached to the security of lives and property of the people and encouraged it not to relent.
The forum also “encourages Kogi State and its unit of Christian Elders and leaders in Kogi East to maintain their God-given space within the comity of Nigerians.”

Southern governors have been urged to resist President Muhammadu Buhari’s order for the review of 368 Grazing Reserves in 26 states.
Reno Omokri, former aide to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan said Buhari lacks the power to order such review; hence Southern governors should resist it.
In a series of tweets, the former presidential aide urged Southern governors to learn from Southern Kaduna.
According to Omokri: “I urge every Governor in Southern Nigeria to resist today’s order by General Buhari for a review of 368 Grazing Reserves in 25 states.

“He has no power to do that under Nigeria’s law. Any Southern Governor foolish enough to accept that should look at Southern Kaduna.”
Buhari had approved recommendations of the committee for a review of 368 grazing sites in Nigeria.
The reserves cut across 25 states and the review will determine the levels of encroachment.
The directive followed his approval of the report of the team chaired by his Chief of Staff, Ibrahim Gambari.
The committee proposed the collection of field data on the 368 reserves to assess encroachers, as well as stakeholder engagements and sensitization.

Nigerians on social media have expressed anger over the alleged unlawful detention and enslavement of a 21-year-old lady, Glory Okolie, who was arrested by operatives of the Intelligence Response Team in Imo State.
It was gathered that Okolie, who was apprehended on June 17, 2021, could be released on Friday following a public outcry generated by her story, which went viral on social media on Wednesday.
She was reportedly apprehended to track down a suspected member of the Eastern Security Network said to be her boyfriend.
Though the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has ordered investigation into the matter, Nigerians on Facebook have faulted the police for their actions.

Facebook user, Mailafiya Abashiya, said, “What a great shameless regime, which results in detaining a woman who committed no criminal offense, while the real murderous terrorists are being given VIP treatments after they’ve wasted precious lives, property. I profusely weep for Nigeria.”
Another user, Jonathan Ofiabodhe, wrote, “The Nigerian security knows the family of these Boko haram and bandits but did nothing.”
“That is rubbish. Why should she be detained and for what reason? It’s like Nigerian police are losing nuts,” Onungwa Kennedy lambasted.
Chukwudi Caroline asked, “How many family, and girlfriends of Boko Haram have Nigerian apprehended since their existence? This country is really against one tribe.”
Referring to the police, Emeka Okeke, said, “The foolish unethical things done by these vermin is unbelievable. Which law are they enforcing?

Everton forward, Demarai Gray has said that he lost the love for football during the final six months of his stay at Leicester City, causing him to make “wrong decisions”.
Gray left Leicester City for Bayer Leverkusen in January, ending a five-year spell at the King Power Stadium but is now back to the Premier League with Everton.
The winger broke out of favour in Brendan Rodgers’s team and could not play his way even onto the bench.
He played just 18 minutes of Premier League football in his final half-season with Leicester City, in what was a tough period in his career.

The player admitted to having made some poor decisions during that time, saying, “It was very hard.”
Speaking further, the England star told Everton’s matchday programme that a time came when he got frustrated at Leicester City and “it got to the point where I lost the love for it.”
“It is a team game and I never want to cause any problems. My attitude is good. But if you are not being rewarded for training well, you ask yourself: ‘What’s the point?’
“I probably made the wrong decisions… but I don’t regret it, it is part of learning,” he added.
Gray vowed that if he ever finds himself in such a situation again, he will handle things differently by focusing on getting back in the team “not wasting time making the wrong decisions.”

A 69-year-old landlord, Oguh Kingsley, on Thursday appeared before a Gwagwalada Magistrate’s Court for allegedly destroying a tenant’s kiosk worth N75,000.
The police charged Kingsley, who resides in Dagiri, Gwagwalada, Abuja, with mischief.
The Prosecution Counsel, Abudullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Ifeyinwa Okafor of Dagiri Gwagwalada Abuja, reported the matter at the police station on August 16.
Tanko said that the defendant, who was a landlord to the complainant, went to her house and destroyed her kiosk valued at N75,000.

He said that the defendant also poured water into her food items valued at N10,000, adding that during police investigation, the defendant confessed to have destroyed the kiosk.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provision of Section 326 of the Penal Code and when questioned, the defendant pleaded guilty to the charge.
The defence counsel, Christy Oboh prayed the court to grant the defendant bail in the most liberal terms, adding that if granted, his client would not jump bail.
Magistrate Yusuf Ibrahim admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum, who must reside within the court’s jurisdiction.
Ibrahim said that the surety must have a definite and verifiable address and must take an affidavit to forfeit the bail bond should the defendant jump bail.
He said that both the surety and defendant must provide valid means of identification, before adjourning the case to September 16 for hearing.

The battle for the Governorship ticket of APGA and the Chairmanship of the party has swung back in favor of the INEC recognized candidate, Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji and Chief Jude Okeke. 
This is following the landmark ruling of the High Court of Owerri today which struck out a fresh Court action Brought by Victor Oye to stop Chukwuma Umeoji and reaffirmed its earlier judgment declaring the Owerri Convention that produced Jude Okeke as APGA Chairman valid and directing INEC to accept and continue to recognize and publish the name of Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji, who emerged as APGA Governorship Candidate in Awka as the candidate of the party and to mandatorily include his name in all electoral processes for the Anambra Governorship election.
This ruling was sequel to an application for stay of execution and leave to the appeal filed by Chief Victor Oye wherein the court granted him leave to appeal but refused to grant the order for stay of execution but rather went ahead to reaffirm its earlier judgment.
The court expressly stated that INEC cannot evade its duty to comply with the orders of the court declaring Umeoji candidate and, therefore, has a legal obligation to continue to carry out, obey and comply with the extant, valid and subsisting judgment of this Court delivered on July 28, 2021, which declared Umeoji candidate and ordered INEC to continue to recognize him and Jude Okeke pending the determination of the appeal filed by Victor Oye at Appeal Court Owerri.

By today’s ruling, INEC is directly restrained from attempting to remove the name of Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji was the candidate of APGA from its list as it was rumored that it was under pressure to do so.
It would be recalled that the Court of Appeal Kano Division had on August 10, 2021, set aside another judgment of the Jigawa High Court which also held that Chief Jude Okeke is National Chairman of APGA and only governorship Congress held by him shall be valid without making any orders as to who should be the candidate of the party.
The Kano appeal Court did not delve into finding who between Prof. Charles Soludo and Hon. Chukwuma Umeoji should be the candidate of the party but rather in a controversial judgment and reversal of their earlier ruling that the appeal is statute-barred for been pre-election but still set aside the judgment as a nullity for want of fair hearing and lack of jurisdiction without making any consequential order of who is APGA Chairman or Candidate.
The implication of this is that the judgment of Justice B. C. Iheka of the Owerri High Court making direct orders against INEC, the Commission is bound to obey the judgment and continue to maintain the name of Hon. Umeoji is the candidate of APGA for the November 6 Governorship election.

The Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) has joined Governor Babagana Umara Zulum of Borno State in appealing to both the Federal Government (FG) of Nigeria and the Nigerian Army to do everything possible in assisting the state government in resettling and reintegrating Boko Haram insurgents and ISWAP fighters who are surrendering.
The Islamic group wants the FG and the Nigerian Army to treat the returning Boko Haram insurgents and ISWAP fighters like brothers newly found, adding that they should be trained in invocations that can enable them cater for themselves and their families in future.
MURIC’s appeal was contained in a statement forwarded to newsmen by its director, Professor Ishaq Akintola, on Thursday.
The statement reads: “Nigeria’s North-East war zone has witnessed a dramatic change with Boko Haram insurgents and ISWAP fighters laying down their arms in their thousands. Consequently, the zone has been inundated with an unusually large number of ex-insurgents and former ISWAP fighters.

“This has created a humanitarian responsibility for the state government. Consequently, the state governor, Professor Babagana Umara Zulum, yesterday appealed to both the Federal Government (FG) and the Nigerian Army to assist the state in resettling the surrendering fighters.
“MURIC joins the hardworking Governor Zulum in appealing to both FG and the Nigerian Army to do everything possible in assisting the state government in resettling and reintegrating. A governor who spends most of the day with troops at the war front and most of the night walking around the city, visiting hospitals and teaching in classrooms to ensure that all sectors are working needs to be supported.
“We lay emphasis on the fact that peace-making is cheaper than fighting wars while meaningful development and growth can only occur in a peaceful environment. FG should therefore go all out in ensuring that its deradicalizing process is accompanied by stomach infrastructure and economic resettlement.
“Boko Haram insurgents and ISWAP fighters who are surrendering should be resettled and trained invocations that can enable them to cater for themselves and their families in future. Quick and meaningful resettlement will encourage the remaining insurgents and fighters to embrace peace.
“MURIC also appeals to the civilian population in Borno to manifest a spirit of accommodation and integration of remorseful insurgents and fighters. We warn against the stigmatization of any sort. Returning fighters should be treated like brothers newly found. What they need is our understanding, cooperation and kindness.
“As we round off, we remind both FG and the Nigerian Army that it is more important to win the war than to win the battle. Battles are won in trenches, but the war can only be won in the minds of men. Only a swift, effective and meaningful resettlement of remorseful Boko Haram insurgents and ISWAP fighters can win the real war.”

Adedamola Alayaki, son of a former National Secretary of the Nigeria Medical Association (NMA), Dr Adewunmi Alayaki, has been abducted.
Adedamola was abducted Wednesday in Ogun State by some unknown gunmen, who our correspondent learnt had contacted the family for a N20million ransom before his release.
It was gathered that the son was kidnapped on his father’s farm at Isaga-Orile community, Abeokuta North Local Government Area of Ogun.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Abimbola Oyeyemi, confirmed the incident to newsmen on Thursday morning.

According to Abimbola, Adedamola “is the Manager in one of his (father’s) farms.”

Father to Big Brother Naija season 6 housemate, Angel, has reacted to Maria’s comment about her attitude with boys in the house.
When asked for her opinion on Angel’s relationship with the male housemates in the house, Maria during her diary session berated Angel, describing her as not being trustworthy and disrespecting in the house.
Biggie, responding said “Don’t you think the boys should be held responsible for not rejecting Angel despite in a ship.”
Maria responding said: “I totally agree with what you’re saying Biggie but I think at the end of the day boys will be boys. If anything easy comes their way, they run with it.”

Angel’s father, who is the handler of her Instagram page, @theangeljbsmith, did not take the statement likely and took to Instagram reacting to Maria’s diary session.
He criticized Maria’s comment ‘that boys will be boys’, saying society should learn to hold men accountable for their action.
According to him, women should be free with their bodies without making them look cheap.
He noted that a woman should not be judged or slut-shamed as being easily accessible because of what she wears or how she’s liberal with her body but the men gets away with ‘You know how boys are’.
Part of the post read: “We live in a patriarchal society where men are not held accountable for their actions in the name of ‘men will be men’. Who made these rules?
“A woman is not easily accessible because she chooses to be liberal with her body. It’s important that men are held accountable for their actions the way we hold women also, isn’t that what equality stands for? To excuse grave mistakes with the phrase ‘boys will be boys’ has to stop’
“That being said, Angel will be Angel in Big Brother’s voice.”

Nigerian forward, Amaut Danjuma, has joined Samuel Chukwueze at Spanish top-flight side, Villarreal.
Transfer guru, Fabrizio Romano reports that the Yellow Submarine secured the signing of the Nigerian-Dutch forward on a five-year deal for about €20m.
The Lagos-born 24-year-old forward has been the subject of transfer rumours in the summer, being linked with moves to Aston Villa and Liverpool.
Danjuma scored 17 goals in 35 appearances in the English Championship last season.

The All Progressives Congress, APC, has denied zoning its presidential ticket to the Southern part of the country, ahead of the 2023 elections.
This is as the party said its doors were still open to candidates for the 2023 general elections, including the presidency.
It denied releasing any zoning formula for candidates on its platform ahead of the scheduled polls.
Secretary of the APC Caretaker Committee, Senator John James Akpanudoedehe issued the denial in response to reports that the party has zoned its presidential ticket to the south.

APC was reported to have zoned the President to the South, Vice President to the North, Senate President to the South and Deputy Senate President to the North.
However, Akpanudoedehe disowned the list.
In a statement, the APC Secretary said: “Our people should disregard the list. It is not from the Caretaker Committee, it is not from the party.
“This is absolutely false! Where was it done and at what occasion? This is a mere fabrication of the writer’s imagination. It is completely misleading.”

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) and the Middle Belt Forum (MBF), have supported the call made by Governor Bello Masari for the people of his state to arm and defend themselves against bandits.
Recall that Governor Masari had on Tuesday advised the people of the state to arm and defend themselves against bandits.
The Governor said that it was morally wrong for people to easily submit themselves to the bandits without any attempt to defend themselves.
Governor Masari said, “It is the people’s meek submission that emboldens the bandits to continue with their heinous activities with murderous frequency. We must free our minds of the notion that security is the sole responsibility of the government.”

The ACF National Publicity Secretary, Emmanuel Yawe said that he supported the Katsina governor to ask northerners to take up arms and defend themselves against the daily carnage of bandits in the region.
According to Emmanuel Yawe, the ACF was in full support of Masari’s order, stressing, “Governor Masari has said the right thing.”
He noted that Masari’s call on the Katsina people to arm themselves against bandits terrorising communities in the state was in order.
The National Publicity Secretary believed that it had been proven that bandits dreaded local hunters more than the regular forces.
The ACF spokesman stated that not all weapons were banned, saying that “in the rural areas, some people are armed with bows and arrows, even guns are allowed where police permit is issued because the arms are legal when such permits are issued.”
He recalled that local hunters in Adamawa gave Boko Haram hell, explaining that Boko Haram dreaded them more than the combined team of army and police.
Emmanuel Yawe further explained that the locals know the terrain more than the army and the police, “who are assembled from all over the country in line with the Federal Government policy on recruitments into government agencies,” adding that “no wonder they (local hunters) were recruited to join the fight against Boko Haram. Governor Masari has said the right thing.”
Similarly, the Middle Belt Forum, through its National President, Dr Bitrus Pogu stated that there is the need for government to buy and equip the people with weapons to enable them defend themselves against bandits’ attacks.
According to Pogu, he viewed the call as a welcome development, saying that if the governor has come to the reality of the security challenge facing the people, then let him go a step further and help the people to defend themselves.
He added, “This is necessary because there is a problem here. No doubt, the people are ready to defend themselves, but do they have the resources to acquire weapons? The answer is no. So, the whole thing reverts back to the government.”
Pogu was of the view that if the governor is serious about what he has said, “let him help the communities that are vulnerable to acquire weapons and license them in such a way that vigilantes in those communities would be adequately armed to enable them to face any security threat by the terrorists in their communities.
“If he can do that, the people will be able to defend themselves.”

“President Muhammadu Buhari is expected to grace the wedding Fatiha of his son and the daughter of the Emir of Bichi in Bichi town on Friday”, Ahmed said.
The wedding coincides with the coronation of the bride’s father as Emir of Bichi.
“A special prayer would be conducted at the Central Mosque, Bichi, by 4:30 pm”, Ahmed said.
Governor Abdullahi Ganduje will also present a staff of office to the Emir of Bichi, Alhaji Nasiru Ado Bayero, on Saturday. 
“We have two historic events on Friday and Saturday in Bichi — the wedding Fatiha of Buhari’s son with the daughter of Emir of Bichi and the coronation of the emir.
“Activities marking the coronation of the Emir include a coronation lecture to be held at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Bichi, on Thursday; while the ceremony for the presentation of the staff of office would be held at the Bichi stadium on Saturday.
“Adequate arrangements had also been put in place by the various subcommittees to ensure the success of the two events.”

The Lagos State Government on Wednesday, said it rescued 728 street beggars and destitute from streets and roads in the last seven months.

Commissioner for Youth and Social Development, Mr Olusegun Dawodu, disclosed this in Alausa, Ikeja on Wednesday.
He told a news conference in Ikeja that the 728 beggars, destitute persons and hawkers, comprising  347 adult male and 241 adult female, were picked from the streets between January and July. 
Dawodu said that the government also rescued children, comprising 64 boys and 76 girls, within the period under review.
The commissioner said that once they were picked, especially the children, investigations were carried out with a view to contacting their parents or guardians, on the reasons why the children were on the streets.
According to him, beggars on the streets and roads constituted considerable nuisance to law abiding residents, who are entitled to go about their businesses without any fear or hindrance.
 
”As a responsible and responsive government, the Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu administration will not fold his arms and watch the state become a haven for beggars. It will take action to curb the menace.
 
”Therefore, to tackle this menace, the Lagos State Government, through the Rehabilitation and Child Development Departments of the Ministry of Youth and Social Development, has maintained a Rescue Unit saddled with the responsibility of rescuing and protecting the destitute and the vulnerable.
 
”This, we do by combing the nooks and crannies of Lagos State to rescue and protect the destitute, mentally–challenged, street children and beggars on the streets.
 
”After being rescued, our Rehabilitation Centres and Child-friendly Homes usually provide them with treatment, psychosocial therapy and vocational training, with the aim of making them useful to themselves and the society,” he said.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday, returned to Nigeria from London, the United Kingdom after joining world leaders in making firm commitment to increase funding of education sector at the recent Global Education Summit in London, United Kingdom.

President Buhari left Nigeria for the United Kingdom on July 26 to participate in the Global Education Summit on Financing Global Partnership for Education (GPE) 2021-2025.
 
The Global Education summit, co-hosted by British prime minister, Mr Boris Johnson and President Uhuru Kenyatta of Kenya successfully generated about $4billion out of the targeted $5billion for the transformation of the education sector in low income countries, including Nigeria.
 
President Buhari, who actively participated in the activities of the summit, appeared on a panel of discussants with a live audience alongside his counterparts from other African countries including President Kenyatta, President Nana Akufo-Addo (Ghana), President Faure Eyadema (Togo) and President Lazarus Chakwera (Malawi).
The summit focused on topical issues including Education’s Reset – Learning from COVID; Transforming the Child’s Learning Journey; Gender Equality In and Through Education; Ripple Effect – Education’s Impact on Sustainability and Financing for Impact – Volume, Equity, Efficiency.
 
At the summit, President Buhari pledged to increase the budget for the education sector in Nigeria by as much as 50 per cent over the next two years.
 
The Nigerian leader stated: “We commit to progressively increase our annual domestic education expenditure by 50 per cent over the next two years and up to 100% by 2025 beyond the 20 per cent global benchmark.”
 
President Buhari held bilateral meetings with British Prime Minister Boris Johnson and the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Baroness Patricia Scotland, at the sidelines of the Global Education Summit.
 
During the bilateral talks, President Buhari and Boris Johnson, appraised the war against different forms of terrorism in Nigeria, and agreed that the judicial process be allowed to run its course.
The Special Adviser to the President on Media and Publicity, Chief Femi Adesina, in a statement, quoted the two leaders saying it was important that “the judicial process runs without interference, no matter who was involved.”
 
He said President Buhari also briefed the Prime Minister on Nigeria’s power needs and efforts being made, as well as initiatives geared at achieving food security.
 
Buhari also reviewed the security situation in the different regions of the country, while Johnson pledged Britain’s preparedness to lend a helping hand.
 
“We are available to help,” Adesina quoted the British PM as saying.
 
“The two leaders equally discussed how to increase trade between the two countries, develop solar and wind power, leadership of the Commonwealth going forward and other matters of mutual interest,” Adesina added.
 
During the bilateral meeting with the Commonwealth Secretary-General, Baroness Patricia Scotland, President Buhari said Nigeria would be glad to receive support from the Commonwealth in diverse areas of needs and challenges.
 
Buhari said Nigeria was doing a lot to address food security through heavy investment in agriculture, and tackle security issues confronting the country in different regions.
 
He, therefore, welcomed the offer of assistance by the Commonwealth scribe.
 
Baroness Scotland said the Commonwealth had developed programmes on agribusiness, adding value to agriculture products for young people to get involved, climate change, criminal justice reforms, police reforms, and security.
 
She, therefore, invited Nigeria to benefit from technical assistance that could be provided.
 
She added that since President Buhari was the Champion for Anti-Corruption in Africa, the Commonwealth had developed anti-corruption benchmark tools, and would like to work with Nigeria in both public and private sectors.
 
Before departing London, President Buhari was reported to have on Thursday visited former Lagos State Governor and National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Bola Tinubu, who is believed to be on medical trip to London.
 
At the Presidential wing of the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport Abuja to welcome the president included the President’s Chief of Staff, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Malam Muhammed Bello, security chiefs as well as some presidential aides.
 
The President after the summit stayed back to see his doctors for medical check-up.
 
The President is expected to travel to Kano to attend his son’s wedding this weekend.

The militant group Taliban has blocked access to Kabul airport forcing thousands of Afghanis and other nationals from fleeing the country.
According to CNN, the fighters fired gunshots and forcefully sent back many people who tried to make their way to the airport for fear of the hard, ominous times ahead of them if they remain in the landlocked Asian country.
Over seven persons have died in the last few days in the chaos at the Kabul airport where people desperately hung around planes, trying to leave the country.
It was earlier reported that the Islamic militant group known as the Taliban or the Mujahedeen retook Kabul, Afghanistan’s capital, about two decades after they were driven from Kabul by US troops.

Taliban militants seized about 20 cities in the country following the withdrawal of US troops beginning in July.
Afghanistan civilian President Ashraf Ghani subsequently fled on Sunday when Kabul fell, abandoning the presidential palace to Taliban fighters.
US President Joe Biden in a presidential broadcast on Monday said he stood by his decision to withdraw American forces from Afghanistan, adding that the troops cannot be dying in a war that Afghan forces were not willing to fight themselves.
Biden also stressed that the objective of the US under the then government of President George Bush had been fulfilled.
“We went to Afghanistan almost 20 years ago with clear goals: get those who attacked us on Sept. 11, 2001, and make sure Al Qaeda could not use Afghanistan as a base from which to attack us again. We did that. We severely degraded Al Qaeda and Afghanistan. We never gave up the hunt for Osama bin Laden and we got him,” he stated.

The Zamfara Governor, Bello Mohammed Matawalle has expressed dissatisfaction over the violent activities happening in the state.
Addressing newsmen at the state Government House in Gusaua, the Governor said he was short of words over the bandits’ activities in the state.
“My administration has tried to curtail the problem but it still persists and I do not know where the problem is coming from”
He said his administration has invested much to ensure the security of lives and properties in the state, all to no avail.

He said he would embark on a fire for fire operation against the bandits since they do not want to repent, saying he had instructed the security operatives to engage them.
Recall that the state Commissioner of Police recently told newsmen that he was not in the state to plead with the bandits, pointing out that it would be a fire for fire operation.
He, however, appealed to the general public to as a matter of fact give the police in the state and other security operatives the needed useful information to deal with the criminals.
The new commissioner had sent warned the armed bandits that he would waste their lives if they refuse to take the path of peace as the state Government has initiated.
He enjoined the general public to remain calm, assuring that peace would soon be restored in the state.

Muiz Banire, an All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has visited former Lagos Governor, Bola Tinubu in London on Wednesday.
Banire was formerly APC National Legal Adviser and a Commissioner in Lagos cabinet thrice.
The Tinubu loyalist served as Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) Chairman under the present government.

Gunmen suspected to be armed robbers have attacked a bullion van in Ondo State.
The bullion van belonging to a commercial bank was attacked at Emure-Ile junction, on Owo local government area of Ondo state.

Human Rights Writers Association of Nigeria, HURIWA, has asked President Muhammadu Buhari and the National Assembly to set up a pilgrims commission board for the African Traditional Religion worshippers within three weeks or face litigation.
The rights group wants the Federal Government to set up such a pilgrims commission for ATR, similar to the Institutions that care for the pilgrimages of Christians and Muslims at public expenses or else it will challenge the discrimination by the government of millions of practitioners of the respected African traditional religion in court.
In a media statement by the National Coordinator Comrade Emmanuel Onwubiko and the National Media Affairs Director Miss Zainab Yusuf, HURIWA said it has already asked its legal unit to prepare to drag the President and the National Assembly to court to overturn the institutionalised religious apartheid should government fail to do the needful or at least to take transparent steps to demonstrate goodwill to set up a pilgrims commission for ATR.
HURIWA said it will on the alternative demand the scrapping of all the Pilgrims’ Commissions to save the nation of the humongous public funds being consistently frittered to run the Christian and Moslems Pilgrims Commissions even as the millions of African Traditional worshippers are discriminated against by virtue of not setting up their distinctive Pilgrims commission to organise their annual pilgrimages to African Shrines scattered all over Nigeria.

“We wonder how Nigeria that brags to be the Nation with the largest black people globally, has continued to marginalize the segment of the population that adheres to their authentic and distinctive ancestral African traditional way of worship whereas the government keeps spending humongous taxpayers resources to sponsor foreign pilgrimages to middle East, Jordan, Italy amongst other foreign jurisdictions but failed to introduce a mechanism to organize pilgrimages to ancient shrines and Iconic ATR Centres in Nigeria,” HURIWA said.
“We are going to officially write to the office of the Federal Attorney General and the National Assembly to begin the process of setting up a pilgrims Commission for African traditional worshippers so as to make the many ancient shrines and landmark institutions of African worship attractive to International Pilgrims and this process will energize the local economies of those places and states in Nigeria and ensure equity and equality of rights.
“Our prayer for indigenous religions to have their pilgrimages and to have a publicly funded body to organise these spiritual exercises is because the federal and states governments are still making plans to fund the agencies responsible for Islamic and Christian pilgrimages. As learnt through media reports, in the proposal, the government said it has set aside a total of N2.6 billion it plans to spend on the programmes and activities of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria and the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission for the year.
“The two agencies are responsible for the religious interests of the Muslims and Christians, including the facilitation of annual pilgrimages by adherents of the two religions to Mecca and Jerusalem respectively.
“As reported, the budget to fund the agencies responsible for the travels by both Muslim and Christian faithful during the year is humongous. While the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria was allocated about N1.39 billion, the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission was allocated about N1.38 billion.
“Apart from overhead costs totalling over N617.4 million, the National Hajj Commission is to spend a total of N130 million on general travels and transportation, including N20 million for local travel and transport for training, in addition to N50million for other similar trips during the year.
“Besides, about N10 million has been set aside for international travels and transport for training and N50 million for other overseas travels and transport during the year. Other allocations to the hajj commission are N25 million for consulting and professional services, in addition to N15 million for financial consulting, apart from another N25.4 million for general financial charges, including insurance premiums.
“About N10 million has been budgeted for refreshment and meals for the Commission; N15 million for honorarium and sitting allowances; publicity and advertisements (N20 million); welfare packages N70 million; monitoring activities and follow-up (N30 million).
“Although the Nigeria Christian Pilgrims Commission does not have a provision in the budget for foreign travels and transport, about N71.3 million has been budgeted for allowances and social contributions during the year, while overhead costs, including general local travel and transport, would gulp N586.5 million.
“Also, the commission plans to spend about N42.3 million on general furniture, building and residential quarters and equipment maintenance; N25.1 million for training as well as N181.6 million for other services, like consulting and general professional services.”
