Biafra Nations League, BNL, has described the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru as a lesson to President Mohammadu Buhari, the Inspector General of Police and all Service Chiefs.
As It was earlier reported, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru died in an air crash at about 6:00p.m. on Friday.
A military Beechcraft 350 carrying him went down at the Kaduna International Airport on Friday, claiming all passengers, including the Army chief’s aides.
In a statement signed by BNL’s National Leader, Princewill Chimezie Richard, the group said it will not pray for the deceased to rest in peace.

According to them, Attahiru had ordered a shoot at sight against the Biafra agitators in the South East and South South, especially in Imo State where the military is said to be conducting a 7 days show of force.
The BNL said that the Nigerian leaders should know that everyone has just one life to live, adding that anyone can die unexpectedly.
The group said that “the President and Governors, including all Service Chiefs are human beings who, when they die, would be buried like commoners.
“No one has spare life, it’s unfortunate for them that after giving orders for execution against us, they die terribly, when their own death comes, you won’t find or recognize their corpse,” the group added.
They warned of more plane crashes ahead , adding that the more the government tries to kill it’s people the more they die in plane crashes.

Igbo socio-political group, Ohanaeze, and the Indigenous People of Biafra have kicked against the resumption of airstrikes in Imo State by security operatives.
There was panic in Imo state on Friday as security operatives resumed airstrikes in the state.
The military bombardment was reported to have been initiated against those terrorising the state.
The airstrikes, which took place in Amuzi and Odenkwume communities in the Ihitte/Uboma Local Government Area and some neighbouring communities in the Ihitte/Uboma LGA of the state caused the natives to flee their homes.

An indigene of the area said, “There is an ongoing military airstrike in Odenkwume and Amuzi communities in Obowo and their neighbouring communities in Ihitte/Uboma LGA.
“They have continued to attack the communities in search of gunmen suspected to be ESN (Eastern Security Network) members, thereby putting the people of the area in fear.
“Just a few minutes ago, I got a call from my brother and other family members to inform me of what is going on in my community. There is a heavy downpour now that a temporarily suspended airstrike continued in Odenkwume Odenkwume.”
When contacted, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Abutu Yaro, told The Punch that he knew nothing about military activities.
The CP said, “I don’t know anything about military activities in the state. I only know that of the police.”
Efforts to get the comments of the spokesperson for the 34 Artillery Brigade Command, Obinze, Owerri, Babatunde Zubairu, proved abortive. Though he promised to get back to our correspondent, he had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report.
But the spokesperson for Ohanaeze Ndigbo, Alex Ogbenna, told our correspondent that it was against the ongoing military operations in the South-East, saying there was no peculiar reason for a concentrated military operation in the zone.
According to Ogbenna, the insecurity in the South-East and the South-South zones is not different from what is happening in the North-East and other parts of the country.
He said, “There is nothing special happening in the South-East and the South-South zones that is peculiar, compared to what is happening in other parts of the country.
“Ohanaeze Ndigbo has already issued a press statement on this that we are against the arrest of our youths without any justifiable reason by the military.”
Also, the Indigenous People of Biafra kicked against the military airstrikes, saying the Federal Government has declared war on Biafra by resuming its military operations in the South-East.
The proscribed group stated this in a statement by its Director of Media and Publicity, Emma Powerful, which was made available to newsmen on Friday.
The statement read in part, “Just two days ago, the Inspector General of Police, while launching a special police operation for the South-East called Operation Restore Peace, in Enugu, confirmed the people’s fears when he asked police personnel not to wait for any other special order before they start killing protesters and anyone confronting them in the zone. He specifically directed them to ensure they eliminate anybody suspected to be a Biafran agitator or IPOB member, and not to bother bringing them to police stations anymore.
“There are so many security challenges in the North where the rampaging Boko Haram terrorists and bandits have seized the control of many communities and the local government areas, yet there is no shoot-on-sight order declared by the double-faced Buhari-led Federal Government. South-East and South-South are not at war with anybody but Fulani terrorists supported by the Nigerian government brought war into our land, killing innocent people while pointing accusing fingers at IPOB members and ESN operatives.”

The President of the Senate, Ahmad Lawan, has described the tragic death of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 other military officers in an aircraft crash on Friday as a national disaster of immense proportion.
Lawan, in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ola Awoniyi, late Friday night, lamented that the unfortunate development has thrown the entire nation into mourning.
He expressed deep sadness over the tragic death of the late military officers who were on an official trip to Kaduna.
The statement read in part, “I extend my heartfelt condolences to the Chief of Defence Staff and the entire members of the Armed Forces of Nigeria over this tragedy.

“This incident is saddening, coming at a time there is a fresh momentum in the nation’s war against insurgency, banditry, and other violent crimes.
“The Chief of Army Staff and the other officers gave their lives for the security and unity of Nigeria and will be remembered as heroes in the history of the country.
“I commiserate with the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Muhammadu Buhari, and the families of the deceased over the tragic incident and wish the departed souls eternal peace,” Lawan said.

The Chairman, Senate Committee on Army, who is also the Senator representing Borno South Senatorial District, Mohammed Ali Ndume, on Saturday, described the death of the late Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru, and 10 others, as shocking.
The Senator. in a statement personally signed by him. lamented that the late gallant general died at a time when the nation was looking up to him to effectively provide the necessary leadership that would eliminate insurgency and other forms of criminality in Nigeria.
He described Attahiru’s death as a national tragedy and that the army chief died a worthy hero.
He described Attahiru and members of his team as highly dedicated and patriotic Nigerians who have already commenced the implementation of strategies that the Nigerian Army needed to tackle external and internal forces that are threatening the nation’s peace.

Ndume prayed Allah to grant eternal salvation for all that lost their lives in the air mishap.
He also prayed that the family members would have the fortitude to bear the loss

The officials of Nigerian Air Force (NAF) on Friday night paid a condolence visit to the family of Flt.-Lt. Taiwo Asaniyi, pilot of the ill-fated Beechcraft 350 plane that crashed in Kaduna.
The crash killed the Chief of Army of Staff, Lt.-Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru and 10 other officers.
Asaniyi and three other crew members also died in the crash.
Air Commodore Peter Simeon, who is the Commander of the 671 NAF base detachment, Akobo, Ibadan, led other officers to the late pilot’s residence in Ibadan to console the aged parents.

Responding on behalf of the family, Deacon Adeleke, who thanked the NAF for the early visit, pleaded for immortalisation of all the deceased.
He advised that the government should always remember the families of the deceased.

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has provided reasons some governors elected on its platform are dumping the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC.
The PDP accused the President Muhammadu Buhari government of harassing and stifling the opposition governors, causing some of them who are not self-willed to join the APC.
Speaking in an interview with Channels Television on Friday on the recent defection of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State, Kola Ologbondiyan, Spokesperson of the PDP, said the defecting governors are only submitting to the harassment of the ruling party.
“The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, is not in distress. The unfortunate situation the nation has found itself is such that, whereas while the PDP was in governance it strived on social justice, equity, fairness and gave abundant room for the opposition to strive but unfortunately we have a situation in our hands of which a ruling government is harassing and stifling the opposition.

“And it is in those circumstances that those who are not self-willed even though they are governors, are now submitting to the harassment of the All Progressives Congress and their machinations.
“This is the situation our party has found itself. However, it is the imperative state that inspires all this, the Peoples Democratic Party remains unintimidated and will continue to rally round the ordinary Nigerians outside there, who are suffering from the manner of misrule of the Buhari administration and the All Progressives Congress.
“And playing mind games, attracting governors to say ‘Oh, we have this number of governors’ will not help APC because the power indeed lies with the people.”
It was reported Ayade’s defection to the APC on Thursday and he had said the purpose of dumping the PDP was due to the attributes of President Muhammadu Buhari and the realisation that Cross River, which has been emasculated economically following the ceding of its oil wells, needed to be in sync with the party at the centre.

The Zamfara State Governor, Hon. Bello Mohammed Matawalle has described the death of the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. General Ibrahim Attahiru as a monumental loss to the country and the Army high command.
Governor Matawalle commiserated with President Muhammadu Buhari over the incident.
The Governor lamented that death of such committed and determined Army Chief was a national tragedy and prayed Almighty Allah to reward his soul and give his immediate family the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
He recalled with nostalgia the last Service Chiefs’ visit to Zamfara State in early February, saying that the late Chief of Army Staff assured him of total support and cooperation in the fight against banditry and other criminalities in Zamfara State and Nigeria at large.

“The late Chief of Army Staff was a great leader who led by example in the fight against insurgency, banditry and other security challenges across the State.
“As a gallant, well trained Army officer, he dedicated his life in ensuring the unity of Nigeria and its territory,” he said.
Matawalle further stated that the name of the late COAS would be written in gold in the history of all Nigerian Army formations in the country.

Benue State Governor, Samuel Ortom has said the death of Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Ibrahim Attahiru, who died alongside other top military officers in an air crash on Friday, would bring setback in the fight against insecurity in the country.
This was contained in a statement issued in Makurdi on Saturday by his Chief Press Secretary, Terver Akase.
According to the statement, the Governor said the death of Lt General Attahiru and the other military officers was shocking and quite painful.
He stated that the late Chief of Army Staff demonstrated commitment to tackling the wave of insecurity since his assumption of office earlier this year.

“Governor Ortom sympathises with President Muhammadu Buhari, the Nigerian Army and the bereaved families.
“He prays that God grants the soul of Lieutenant General Attahiru as well as those of the other military officers eternal rest and their families the strength to bear the losses”, the statement added.
It was reported that the Army Chief died in an air crash on Friday evening when a military Beachcraft 350 conveying him and other army officials crashed at the Kaduna International Airport.

Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru died in an air crash in Kaduna on Friday.
Attahiru, a Hausa, was born on August 10, 1966. Intriguingly, he hailed from Doka in Kaduna, the State he passed away.
Attahiru was among the Service Chiefs appointed by President Muhammadu Buhari in January 2021.
The rest are General Leo Irabor – Chief of Defence Staff; Vice Admiral A. Z. Gambo – Chief of Naval Staff, and Air Marshal I. O. Amao – Chief of Air Staff.

In four months, the Nigerian Army under Attahiru recorded considerable success. Though troops were lost, several terrorists were eliminated.
The military launched a series of assault in the Sambisa general area and sects’ hideouts. Attahiru regularly visited Borno, the epicenter of the insurgency in Nigeria.
Under him, Operation Tura Takai Bango, the military’s first major operation this year to degrade threats in the North-East emerged. It was victorious.
The Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) is assisting the offensive. Boko Haram commanders, Abul-Bas, Ibn Habib, Ali Bor and Maleum Modu, among others fell to firepower.
In February, Attahiru announced plan to launch the second phase of year 2021 counter-insurgency operation.
On various occasions, he hailed the synergy between the air and ground forces, and credited successes to the partnership.
The top military officer died three weeks after renaming the Operation in the North-East from Operation Lafiya Dole (OPLD) to Operation Hadin Kai (OPHK).
Army spokesman, Brig. Gen. Mohammed Yerima explained that the decision was taken based on the need to re-align for better efficiency.
“The renaming is in line with the COAS vision of having an Army repositioned to professionally defeat all adversaries”, Yerima noted.
He quoted Attahiru as saying the complete defeat of insurgency is a process that requires the stakeholders’ participation, using all elements of national power.
Before their appointments, Irabor and Attahiru were Commander and Deputy Commander at the Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC) of the Nigerian Army, in Minna, Niger State.
Established in 1981, TRADOC is a research-oriented formation. The Command is charged with doctrinal training and combat development.
It supervises and coordinates research and development of all training schools, depots and the command college of the Nigerian Army.
TRADOC serves as a major senior think-tank and a liaison centre between the Army and educational establishments to ensure professional development of officers.
It also serves as headquarters for directing the operational tasks of various divisions of the Army that are on deployment.
Annually, TRADOC conducts and supervises the Senior Staff Course Qualifying Examination (SSCQE) for officers in the ranks of Major and Captain across all units.
Attahiru served as Theatre Commanders of Operation Lafiya Dole, the central outfit of the Army in North-Eastern Nigeria.
Irabor handed over the leadership of the unit to Attahiru on May 30, 2017.
Attahiru obtained a Graduate Diploma from the University of Nairobi, Kenya and holds Master’s degrees from the Nigerian Defence Academy and Salford University in the United Kingdom.
He attended the National Defence College, Kenya; the Chinese Peoples Liberation Army Special Forces Academy, Shijiazhuang, Hebei Province,; Bournemouth University, United Kingdom; and the Geneva Centre for Security Policy.
Attahiru served as the Deputy Director Office of Military Secretary; Director, Army Public Relations; Commanding Officer, 146 Battalion in the Bakassi Peninsula; Commander, 13 Brigade (Pulo Shield) in the South-South; and the General Officer Commanding 82nd Division, Enugu.
He was the Deputy Chief of Policy and Plans at the Army Headquarters; Chief of Defence Transformation and Innovation, and Chief of Defence Logistics, at Defence Headquarters Abuja.
Attahiru was on different contingents of the ECOWAS Monitoring Group (ECOMOG), United Nations Mission in Sierra Leone (UNAMSIL) and the United Nations Mission in Liberia (UNMIL).
As Theatre Commander in Borno, Attahiru created dugouts along the crossing points of terrorists, to deny them freedom of action and stem the conduct of their nefarious activities, before launching Mobile Strike Teams (MSTs).
The teams reinforced the Mobile Brigade Concept (MBC) adopted in the Theatre to facilitate the quick defeat of enemies of the state.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Admiral Awwal Gambo, has said that as far as the nation’s security challenges are concerned, it is now more actions and less talk from security agencies.
He said the challenges were not insurmountable.
According to a statement on Friday, Gambo made this remark during the visit of the Accountant-General of the Federation, Ahmed Idris, to the Defense Headquarters in Abuja.
The statement issued by the Director Information, Press and Public Relations to the AGF, Henshaw Ogubike, was titled ‘We will continue to support you, AGF Idris assures the Nigerian Navy.’

The statement read, “He (the Chief of Naval Staff) noted that the security challenges the country is facing are not insurmountable, adding that ‘it is now more action, less talk’ as directed by the President.”
While acknowledging the enormous responsibility saddled on the Nigerian Navy and other Armed Forces, the AGF assured the Naval Chief of the continuous support of the federal treasury to the forces.
He added that treasury will ensure timely release of funds to the Armed Forces to enable them to secure the country’s territorial waters and sovereignty.
He said, “The Nigerian Navy and other Armed Forces have kept the country one in terms of discharge of their duties. Your responsibility is enormous, you need every support.
“We will continue to support you by giving you the necessary tools for you to deliver.”
Idris also congratulated the Naval Chief on his appointment and stressed that no effort will be sparred to sustain the cordial relationship that has existed between the Nigeria Armed Forces and the Federal Treasury.

Some Nigerians on social media have slammed the Nigerian Communications Commission for asking them to submit the International Mobile Equipment Identity of their mobile phones to the commission.
According to them, the NCC should leave decent Nigerians alone and focus on how to track kidnappers and bandits who use their phones to contact families of victims to demand ransom.
It was earlier reported that the NCC, in its Revised National Identity Policy for SIM Card Registration, called for Nigerians to submit the IMEI numbers of their phones to the commission from July.
The IMEI number is the mobile phone’s fingerprint. It is a 15-digit number unique to each phone. With the IMEI number, a phone can be tracked and located irrespective of the cellular number in it.

The NCC had said, “With the aim to curtail the counterfeit mobile phone market, discourage mobile phone theft, enhance national security, protect consumer interest, increase revenue generation for the government, reduce the rate of kidnapping, mitigate the use of stolen phones for crime, and facilitate blocking or tracing of stolen mobile phones and other smart devices, one of the means to achieve this is through the deployment of Device Management System.”
Reacting to this move by the NCC, a tweep, @uchmania, described NCC’s move as an infringement of privacy. “They haven’t tracked phone calls of kidnappers. Why do they need the IMEI of my phone which I bought with my money? It is an infringement of privacy.”
In agreement, @petteng tweeted, “This will amount to an invasion of privacy and it is already an infringement on our human rights. The government should please curb banditry, terrorism, unemployment, insecurity, hunger, nepotism among other general issues in Nigeria. I don’t think IMEI is part of the problem now.”
@oracle_gf also wrote, “I think this is the time this government will understand that Nigerians are not fools. They only want to witch-hunt Twitter and online activists.”
“How many of the killer herdsmen and terrorists in the North have the government arrested despite the linking of NIN and SIM?” the user asked.
“We must stand against this as a nation. This administration will stop at nothing to enslave the country,” @Ola_williams__ stated.

The former national publicity secretary of People Democratic Party (PDP), Hon Emmanuel Ibeshi, has said party chairman, Uche Secondus, and his National Working Committee are frustrating members of the party.
He said this in a statement made available to newsmen while reacting to the defection of Governor Ben Ayade of Cross River State to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
“We managed our differences as PDP from 1999 with Donald Duke as governor till this day that has become such a black day in our history for survival as a minority in the South South and the current struggle for the survival of the soul of the Nigerian state,” he said.
“To a large extent I blame the Uche Secondus led National Working Committee which seems bereft of ideas as an opposition political party having enjoyed the peace of being a ruling party on a platter of gold.

“I say this with all due respects as having served in the NWC as National Publicity Secretary in 1999-2001. The Uche Secondus led NWC in the history of our great party unfortunately has brought upon loyal PDP faithful the most devastating frustrations from various aspects of running the party in spite of all party mechanisms at its disposal to settle disputes at national or local levels”
Ibeshi described Ayade’s defection as unfortunate, insulting and insensitive to the plight of the people of the state.
“It is unfortunate for Cross River State and PDP as a party to find herself in this unfortunate and unpalatable prostrate situation when leadership is most needed.
“The current unstable rhythm of war drum beats and songs of insecurity across borders is of grave concern to any discerning Nigerian whether in leadership position or not.
“Watching the Cross River State Governor my dear Obudu brother make a speech during his defection to APC “on behalf of the people of Cross River State” was most insulting and insensitive of the plight and pains and agonies of the people of Cross River State”
He pointed out that Gov Ayade’ s defection is either a gross hallucination or believing too much in the impunity covering his status as governor which may have created a fatal amnesia to the fact that there is always an expiry date for every act, being or event.
He said that in 2015 when PDP had contentious governorship primaries in which he was a participant, he chose the party to sue for calm amongst his followers and supporters.
“In 2019 when I was the only contender for the primaries against the incumbent, I sued for peace with my followers and supporters and followed up with a suit which ended up futile as we all know what such litigations in Nigeria are like.
“I licked my wounds and bled within for peace to prevail for which many misunderstood and blamed me for not following through. That is a story for another day.
“This action of the governor MUST NOT go without a standoff. I stand to “speak for myself” that the defection of the incumbent Governor, Sen. Ben Ayade from PDP to APC WAS NOT on my behalf as a Cross Riverian.
“It was selfish, inconsiderate of the current tempo of the nation vis a vis the handling of insecurity, economy, education and general human life index by President Muhammadu Buhari and the APC government.
“I am yet to see the deliverables the Buhari romance with Ayade has availed in Cross River State. I was at the commissioning of the Super Highway by the President.
“Promises were made about the Deep Seaport and the Super Highway by President Buhari but till date there’s been no evidence of the fruit of that servile romance.
“I weep and mourn because I know the pains it took for us as foundation members at the highest organ of the party to sustain unity and friendship even at the worst of disagreement between the party and its executive and the elected government led by President Obasanjo at the time.
“By this defection to APC, I disagree with my dear brother Sen. Benedict Ayade. Dear brother, you have simply abdicated your position as governor for filthy lucre. Cross River State is left naked and empty.
“If the APC were seen to be doing anything proactive or active at all to the current needs of the people towards security, economy, and total welfare index for developmental growth, I wouldn’t be in so much pain about your defection.
“But we have absolutely nothing on record to show the human development index scorecard of your current preferred bedfellows.

The acting Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, has put the commissioners of police in the Federal Capital Territory and Plateau State on the alert over imminent attacks by Boko Haram members.
The alert was contained in a May 19, 2021 circular addressed to the two commissioners of police and signed by the Principal Staff Officer to the IGP, Idowu Owohunwa, an acting CP.
He said intelligence report revealed that terrorists are planning to attack Abuja and Jos.
The circular with reference number TB: 0900/IGP.SEC/ABJ/VOL.TI/47 was titled ‘Terror elements to expand frontiers of attack.’

A copy of the circular was obtained by our correspondent on Friday.
In the circular, the acting IGP directed the commissioners of police to review their security architecture and beef up security around government facilities particularly in Abuja and Jos.
The circular read, “Intelligence report at the disposal of the Inspector-General of Police has uncovered plans by Boko Haram terrorists to attack major cities in the country, particularly in Jos, Plateau and the FCT, Abuja.

Tyson Fury and Deontay Wilder have verbally committed to a third fight, ESPN reported Thursday night, days after an arbitration ruling halted fight talks between Fury and British champ Anthony Joshua.
After the independent arbitrator ruled Monday that WBC heavyweight champ Fury (30-0-1, 21 KOs) must face Wilder, plans for a unification fight between Fury and Joshua were put on hold, said ESPN citing multiple sources.
The Wilder and Fury fight could be held as early as July 24 in Las Vegas, the American sports broadcaster said, adding that August 14 has been set aside as a backup date.
Boxing promoter Bob Arum told ESPN he expects the contracts could be signed in the coming days. Fury would get 60 percent of the purse with Wilder receiving the lower sum.
<a name='more' id="more"></a>The heavyweights fought to a draw in 2018 and Fury earned a TKO victory to win the WBC heavyweight title in 2020.
The arbitrator ruled that Fury was contractually obligated to give Wilder a rematch, with retired judge Daniel Weinstein upholding a claim lodged by Wilder that Fury must face him in a third fight by September 15.
While the arbitrator’s ruling is not a formal court order, it will be deemed enforceable by courts if Wilder and Fury are unable to reach agreement.
Monday’s ruling came just a day after Fury announced he had agreed to fight Joshua on August 14 in Saudi Arabia, where the WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO heavyweight belts will be up for grabs.
Wilder’s camp had also argued their fighter had a contractual right to a third match.
But after delays caused by the coronavirus pandemic led to last July’s contest being postponed, Wilder’s team sought to move the bout to 2021.
Fury refused the 2021 date and said he would move on, prompting the mediation.
Neither Fury nor Wilder have fought since clashing in  February 2020, when Fury outclassed the previously unbeaten American to win via a seventh-round technical knockout.
The two fighters had previously battled to an epic draw in 2018 at Staples Center Arena in Los Angeles after Fury survived a 12th round knockdown.

Nigerian superstar David Adeleke popularly known as Davido has announced the acquisition of a new wonder on wheels, 2021 Rolls Royce Cullinan – Limited Edition Luxury SUV.
According to auto sites, the Rolls-Royce 2021 is a full-sized luxury sport utility vehicle (SUV) produced by Rolls-Royce Motor Cars, which is valued at a staggering $382,000.
Sharing photos of himself the new whip, Davido wrote; “We rise by lifting others but don’t forget to reward yourself!!! WHO DEY ZUZU!! Just copped my first RR!! God is good! I’m forever grateful to y’all!! ❤️ … oh yea 2021 BTW 😇.”
Last year, Davido took delivery of a brand new Lamborghini Aventador which costs between N143.6 million – N192.7 million.

Ebonyi State Governor, Dave Umahi, on Thursday assured angry youths that the South-East governors would join their agitation if the reasons for such protest were not addressed after six months.
Umahi gave this assurance while participating in the Presidential Ministerial briefing organised by the Presidential Communications Team at the presidential villa, Abuja.
He, however, requested that youths against the region’s marginalisation should forward their grievances.
The governor urged them to grant their governors six months to discuss with the Federal Government.

The governor said, “I have done stakeholders’ meetings in the 13 Local Government Areas; I have done seven-day prayers.
“I have deployed the widows to fast and pray; I have deployed the elders’ council to go round and talk to our people. I have deployed founding fathers to go and talk.
“All these talks are getting results. Some of the bad boys are pulling out and surrendering to us and they are giving us information. 
“But my position is that these people are our children. It does not please me. I’m trying to let them know that what they are agitating for can be solved through dialogue. We are calling on our youths to submit their demands to us. We will come to the centre and submit them.
“If in the next six months, we have not substantially addressed them, we can join you in the agitation. But right now, we won’t support you to insult the President, leaders of the South-East and other leaders. That is not agitation; that is foolishness. Agitation is agitation.”
Umahi said in addressing marginalisation and exclusion from the affairs of the nation, wisdom has to be applied.
He described IPOB as “a child of necessity,” adding that the same organisation had now birthed the Eastern Security Network.
The governor added, “You can see how this has multiplied. But the point remains that from the onset of matter, the past governments did not address the matter properly because when your children cry for any reason, you have to find out what the problem is, what the reasons are and then fix it.”

Leicester City forward, Kelechi Iheanacho, has said he wishes his mother was alive to celebrate his success.
Iheanacho lost his mother, Mercy, when he was only 16 years.
She died in a hospital after a brief illness.
Few months after Mercy’s death, Iheanacho rose to stardom, leading Nigeria to the FIFA U17 World Cup in UAE.

Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, has kicked against the Southern Governors’ call for the restructuring of Nigeria.
Recall that the governors under the aegis of Southern Nigerian Governors’ Forum on May 11, resolved for the restructuring of the country to end agitation for secession in the region.
The governors made the decision in Asaba, the Delta State capital, while deliberating on how to curb deteriorating security situation in their respective states and other parts of the country.
However, the IPOB leader, in a tweet on Friday via his Tweeter handle, said Nigeria needs secession not restructuring.

According to him, restructuring may not end the bad governance that stimulated the agitation for separation.

“What Nigeria needs is dismemberment, not some dodgy restructuring”, Kanu Tweeted.

Senator Enyinnaya Abaribe, Senate minority leader, has accused the Attorney General and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, SAN, of threatening Nigeria’s unity with his reaction to the call for the ban on open grazing by Southern Nigerian Governors.
It was earlier reported that the Southern Nigerian Governors recently banned open grazing in the region to control the incessant crisis between farmers and Fulani herders.
But Malami, while speaking on Channels Television on Wednesday, faulted the decision of the governors, saying it does not align with the provisions of Nigeria’s constitution.
Reacting, Abaribe, in a statement by his media aide, Uche Awon, described Malami’s statement as a dangerous mindset.
<a name='more' id="more"></a>The statement read in part, “While the local “bureau de change” business mostly done by the Fulanis are operating in all parts of Nigeria, why have they not elicited any resentment of other Nigerians?
“It’s simply because they live and do their business peacefully without any problem. It’s the murderous activities of Fulani herders that have given rise to the current demand for laws that will bring about peaceful coexistence of all Nigerians.
“Such a divisive statement from a top federal government official, in fact, the chief legal adviser to the Federal Government at that, exposes a very dangerous mindset.
“This disposition has no doubt raised the tension in Nigeria to a frightening level.
“Why should an Attorney General of the Federation be so fixated in evoking ethnic/regional fault lines when duty calls for him to be a statesman?
“It’s disheartening that Mr Abubakar Malami has chosen to debase our country. He has indeed questioned Nigeria’s unity. Very unfortunate.”

Cross River State Governor, Sir Ben Ayade Thursday dumped the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) for the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He formally declared for the ruling party at the Cross River State Executive Council Chamber, Governor’s Office in Calabar after a two-hour meeting with seven APC governors led by the party’s interim chairman and governor of Yobe State, Mai Mala Buni.
Speaking on why he was joining the APC, Ayade highlighted the character attributes of President Muhammadu Buhari and the realisation that Cross River, which has been emasculated economically following the ceding of its oil wells, needed to be in sync with the party at the center, as the main reasons for moving.
According to the governor, “having seen and known the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and his commitment to this country, his nationalistic disposition and all the efforts he has made to bring Nigeria to where we are today, it is obvious that at this point, we needed to join hands with him to build a Nigeria that we can be proud of.

“We need all governors to recognize that it is not party that matters. It is character, it is honor, it is commitment to the vision of this great nation. We all need to as a team, work ahead of the president by working towards building a prosperous country that the succession worries of 2023 will come without the fears and the worries the international community has for us.
“I believe that if everyone of us as governor joins hands with Mr President, I think we can sit on the same dining table and fashion out a way to govern this country.”
Speaking on the development, an elated Buni said he and his team were in the state to formally welcome Governor Ayade to the APC.
His words: “I am here on behalf of the APC family to welcome His Excellency the Executive Governor of Cross River State formally to the APC. As from today he is the leader of the party in the state.”
Other APC governors who witnessed the event were Hope Uzodinma of Imo State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, Solomon Lalong of Plateau State, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu and his Jigawa state counterpart, Mohammed Badaru Abubakar.
Also present was the Minister of State for Petroleum, Chief Timipre Sylva.
Others at the meeting were the state deputy governor, Prof Ivara Esu, Speaker of the State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams Jones and members of the State House of Assembly, some National Assembly members, members of the Cross River State Executive Council members, Local Government chairmen, councilors and some stakeholders, including Dame Princess Florence Ita-Giwa and High Chief Asuquo Ekpenyong, amongst others.

Normalcy has returned to Oshodi in Lagos, Southwest Nigeria after soldiers took over the area following alleged killing of an Air Force personnel by hoodlums on Thursday.
There was pandemonium in the area as residents and traders scampered into safety, as soldiers engaged the hoodlums.
Many vehicles, especially commercial buses have been destroyed, while some persons were assaulted by the aggrieved security operatives.
Some residents heading to work were trapped in the ensuing violence, while students fled back home.

But the Lagos State Police Command said normalcy has returned to the area after the clash between soldiers and hoodlums.
Command’s spokesman, Muyiwa Adejobi said the police were aware of the conflict that occurred at Cappa Park/Mosafejo Oshodi at 7am.
“Normalcy has been restored to the area, as the matter is under investigation. We urge Lagosians to go about their lawful businesses in the area and in the state in general.
“No cause for alarm. The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State, CP Hakeem Odumosu has ordered that intensive patrol be emplaced in the area,” he said.

An ex-aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan, Reno Omokri, has slammed the Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami for saying open grazing ban in Southern Nigeria is the same as Northern governors banning spare parts trading in their own region.
According to Omokri, the AGF didn’t condemn the confiscation of millions of bottles of beer destroyed in the north but was swift to condemn open grazing ban pronounced by Southern governors last week.
It was reported that operatives of the religious police in North-West states, Hisbah, have destroyed millions of bottles of different beer worth billions of naira in the last couple of years, thus, rendering hundreds of Southern traders hopeless and jobless in the north.
The various Hisbah Boards in the north claim consumption of alcohol and all other intoxicants was forbidden in Islam.

Hisbah has also been accused of blatantly violating the basic rights of citizens in its mission to enforce criminal aspects of Sharia law on residents of the North-West state.
In a string of tweets on Thursday, Omokri said Malami didn’t condemn the actions of Hisbah but was quick to criticise Southern governors for banning open grazing in the region over rising insecurity associated with the activities of criminal elements masquerading as herders. 
The ex-presidential aide wrote, “The comment by (President Muhammadu) Buhari ’s Attorney General, Abubakar Malami, that banning open grazing is like banning spare parts trading, shows this regime is fully behind killer herdsmen. If Northern states can ban beer and pig farming, Southern states can ban open grazing.
“If Nigerians can’t do open grazing of pigs in the North, then local and foreign herdsmen can’t do open grazing of cows in the South. You should not condemn one without condemning the other, except you mean Southerners are second class citizens!
“When Hisbah demolishes the businesses of their fellow Nigerians in the North for selling alcohol, where was Malami to defend them? But now that the open grazing ban has touched his ‘anointed’ herdsmen, he resurfaces to protect them.”

Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, has dumped the Peoples Democratic Party to join the All Progressives Congress.
The governor announced his decision to join the APC on Thursday morning in a meeting with six APC governors who visited him at the Government House.
It was reported that some governors in the All Progressives Congress arrived in Calabar State on Wednesday to persuade Ayade to defect from PDP to their party.

A cross-section of farmers in Gwagwalada and Kwali in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) have decried the paucity of rainfall and insufficient fertiliser supply.
The farmers, who spoke in separate interviews on Thursday in Gwagwalada, expressed fear that inadequate rainfall could impact the crop yield negatively.
They said that crops that would most likely be affected are melon, yam and guinea corn.
Alhaji Sumaila Sani, a farmer from the Giri community in Gwagwalada Council said that inadequate rainfall would most likely affect harvest this year.

He described the present weather condition as worrisome.
Sani said that the germinated crops on his farm were beginning to shrink due to insufficient rainfall and hot weather condition in the past two weeks in the area.
“The crops need the rains to enable them to grow properly and healthy so that we can get a bountiful harvest this year.
“The yams also need steady rainfall in order to enlarge the tubers in the soil and to yield good seedlings for further planting,’’ the farmer said.
He prayed to God to send down steady rainfall to enable the crops to grow properly so he could have a bumper harvest.
Another farmer, Zaka Duza, in Kwali Council said some farmers have already started losing hope in the rainy season with some yet to complete sowing their seeds due to the poor rainfall.
Duza also said that farmers do not get government fertiliser, noting that sometimes it comes late and often inadequate.
“It is not long that I got the grass weeded and planted melon, but yet rain has not dropped ever since then.
“Some crops have germinated and the soil is already dried like we are in the dry season, which is not too good for groundnut, guinea corn and yam.
“It will make the produce from the farm look poor during harvest; that is not too good for any farmer,’’ he said.
Also, Mr Peter Samuel, another farmer said that beans do not have much problem with rainfall as they produce even with the help of the morning dew.
Samuel said that morning dew made beans produce flowers in order to bring out the seeds.
He appealed to the government not to delay the supply of fertiliser.
He added that the past few years have been bad with farmers, having to wait until the rain started before receiving fertilisers.
“The scarcity of rain will only make the leaves grow fresh and green without yielding the beans and that is not too good,’’ Samuel said.
He, however, appealed to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture to make fertiliser readily available at a subsidised rate to enhance food production.
Earlier, Mr Nwokedi Fidelis, Acting Director, FCT-Agricultural Development Project at the inauguration of a four-day training for 1,110 extension agents in Gwagwalada, assured farmers of adequate fertiliser supply.
He said that with the poor rainfall in the area, the department would look at measures to make life easy for the farmers in FCT.

The media personality and actress shared the news on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
The mother of four did not state the cause of her mother’s death.

Some governors in the All Progressives Congress arrived in Calabar on Wednesday evening ahead of their meeting with Governor Ben Ayade today.
The APC governors are Mai Mala Buni of Yobe State, Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodima, David Umahi of Ebonyi State, Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State among others, according to Government House sources.
It was gathered that the purpose of the meeting is to persuade Ayade to defect to APC after he complained about how he is being treated in PDP.

The Imo State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has demanded for the immediate impeachment of Governor Hope Uzodinma, accusing him of being complacent over the increasing insecurity in the State.
The opposition party spoke through its Director General of New Media, Collins Opuruzor.
The party accused the governor of having no regard for human lives, because according to it, the governor has refused to proffer a lasting solution to the extra judicial killings in the State.
The PDP spokesman, in his write up, said the governor prefers finding comfort in Abuja while his state is on fire.

He said, “the primary purpose of government is the security of life and property. In this aspect, the governor has failed woefully and that’s why the state is in ruins.
“Unfortunately, our lawmaking body seems to have been pocketed. They are now acting according to the governor’s directives. This is an anomaly.
“The comical claim by Governor Uzodinma that the opposition is behind the insecurity in the state has further defined him as totally at a loss with what governance is, and has unmasked him as a huge threat to the peace and security of the state.
“In Imo, each day brings a new sorrow. Hardly does a night pass without fire and fury pouring down in Owerri and its environs. The people are living in fear of the unknown and the Governor does not give a damn.
“He rather finds comfort in Abuja leaving his state in devastation. This early morning, he jetted back to his base (Abuja). Tell me what effort he put up within these few days he was in Imo, nothing.
“But this is absolutely not right. How can a Governor whose state is on fire be running to Abuja every two days to seek refuge?
“Frankly, Governor Uzodinma has proven that he is incompetent to govern the state, and should be shown the way out.
“I call on the Imo State House of Assembly to, as a matter of urgency, initiate a move towards impeaching the governor or all of us will die here over insecurity.”

The Kaduna State government has said that power is yet to be restored in the State despite the suspension of strike by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC).
Recall that the NLC which embarked on a five-day industrial action to protest the recent disengagement of civil servants by the state government, suspended the strike on Wednesday.
The National President of NLC, Comrade Ayuba Wabba, said the move was to honour the invitation of the Federal Government on Thursday.
However, a statement released by El-Rufai’s spokesperson Muyiwa Adekeye, said the Kaduna State government was yet to see evidence that the NLC is backing off from its campaign of economic and social sabotage.

Adekeye lamented that the electric power is yet to be restored after it was shut down on Sunday.
According to him, “those who disrupted the power supply should promptly reverse themselves, not expect that it will be a matter for negotiation.”
“Denying our people electricity about 18 hours to the advertised commencement of their organized sabotage was akin to putting a gun on the government’s head.
“The Kaduna State Government is yet to see evidence that the NLC is backing off from its campaign of economic and social sabotage against the people of the State.
“Restoring electricity is vital to relieving some of the pain that needless acts of lawlessness have inflicted on our people.
“Those who have disrupted it should promptly reverse themselves, not expect that it will be a matter for negotiation.
“KDSG will not participate in such a negotiation whilst our people are still being denied their right to electricity.”

Emmanuel Eneji, a 23-year-old movie producer and nineteen others have been arrested in Calabar by the EFCC for alleged internet fraud.
The nineteen suspects whose ages range between 19 and 36 are: Okonkwo Chukwudi Charles, Obua Akwo Promise, Angba Murphy, Adie Stephen, Success Otu Edem, Asukwo Emmanuel, Godspower Akwo, Anibiet Nna, Jesam Akpama and Dennis Jerry.
Others are Princewill Sunny, Godbless Olulu, Charles Onwuneme, David Njoku, Victor Francis, Goodluck Alabo, Happiness Otu, Nwadike Kelechi and Obasi Ugochukwu.
The suspects were picked up at different locations within the state capital, namely Ekorimim, Ifete junction, Parliamentary by Car Park and Behind Zone 6 by Monty Suit.

Their arrest was facilitated by credible intelligence regarding their nefarious activities.
Items recovered from the suspects include, one unmarked black Toyota Corolla car, one red Toyota Avalon with registration number-CHR 56 AF, various sophisticated mobile phones, laptops, one WiFi Router, one Modulator-demodulator and flash drives.
The suspects will be charged to court as soon as the Commission concludes investigation, said EFCC spokesman Wilson Uwujaren.

The President of the Nigeria Labour Congress, Ayuba Wabba, has said Kaduna State Government under the leadership of Governor Nasir El-Rufai has hired 50 truckloads of thugs to attack protesting workers in the state.
Wabba stated this on Wednesday while featuring on Channels Television’s ‘Sunrise Daily’ programme.
He alleged that the governor paid N500 each to some youths to disrupt the demonstration of the workers who protested the mass sacking of civil servants in the state on Tuesday.
It was reported that thugs disrupted the demonstration of workers in the state on Tuesday. The state workers had on Monday begun a five-day strike over the governor’s retrenchment of about 60,000 workers and the alleged anti-labour policies of the government.

The NLC subsequently condemned the attack and threatened to embark on a nationwide strike.
Speaking on the television programme on Wednesday morning, Wabba said, “As I speak with you this morning, the security agencies are already there and they (Kaduna) have hired about 50 trucks of thugs to try to invade the NLC state office where our people are already converging. Is this democracy? Even under military (regime), labour leaders, labour laws have not been violated as it is today.
“The security agencies are already there, they are taking pictures, they are recording everything, all the vehicles, all the people.
“Yesterday (Tuesday), those people that were hired to carry placards, I have the records, they were paid N500 each. In fact, I have them on record, they are youths, most of them are below the age of 17. What kind of system are we running? The press needs to ask them what are they protesting for because our people that are affected, their stories can be heard. Basically, propaganda in this case must be exposed.”
Earlier, the governor on Tuesday declared the NLC President wanted for economic sabotage but Wabba dared El-Rufai to effect his arrest even as the union leader led workers on protest for the second day on Tuesday.
Kaduna State has been grounded for about 72 hours as aviation workers, bank workers, rail workers, electricity workers, health workers, teachers, amongst others, down tools in protest against the alleged injustice of the El-Rufai-led government.
Speaking on Wednesday, the NLC president described the El-Rufai government as “tyrannical”, “adamant” and “powerdrunk”. He also lamented that the governor was celebrating the disengagement of workers in the state citing paucity of funds.
Wabba said, “The issue we are engaging in Kaduna is about the fundamental rights of a worker. A worker is not a slave; employment relationship is guided by laws and those laws are very explicit. Our laws are very rich and there are provisions of the law on every subject matter. You cannot just throw workers out of jobs.
“Can any Nigerian not even trade unions fold our arms and watch a situation where breadwinners of families in their thousands are disengaged? What will be the social consequences? Already we are witnessing it. This is a core labour issue and that is why NLC is engaging the issue.”
The NLC president also said the union followed the law to give adequate notice in writing before the commencement of the strike “but the government of Kaduna State has remained adamant because we are in a situation where people that are powerdrunk can continue to do whatever they want to do”.
Continuing, he said, “What is happening is crude abuse of power and every Nigerian has now seen it. This action is going to be limited to Kaduna for five days and we are still here (Kaduna) and we are going to continue for these five days and where it fails, certainly we are going to escalate it because we believe that we have tiers of government and on this matter, we are very concerned and that is why we cannot change our position because justice has not be done to those workers.
“How can somebody be celebrating the sack of workers? Is it the only state that has challenge economically? In many states, I will give examples: when Kano State try to revert to the minimum wage, immediately we wrote the governor and he requested for dialogue. He put the facts on the table and solutions were put on the table, the same thing in Rivers State but in Kaduna, we are dealing with a tyrant who does not have respect for the rule of law.”

Former Chelsea coach and player Frank Lampard has become the fifth player to be inducted into the Premier League’s Hall of Fame.
This was announced today by the Premier League.
Lampard joins Alan Shearer, Thierry Henry, Roy Keane and Eric Cantona in the Hall of Fame.

The three-time Premier League champion scored 177 goals during his time at West Ham United, Chelsea and Manchester City, the most by any midfielder in the competition’s history.
He is one of the six players of a 23-man shortlist to receive the most combined votes from the public and the Premier League panel, the League said.
Three further inductees will be announced over the next couple of days on the Premier League’s digital channels.
Lampard helped Chelsea win their first-ever Premier League title under Jose Mourinho in 2005 and would go on to lift that same title two more times at Stamford Bridge. 
In a statement published by Mail Online, Lampard thanked his uncle Harry Redknapp for giving him his first big break in football before praising Claudio Ranieri and Mourinho for their influence on him while he was at the Bridge.
‘There have been a lot of people that have influenced me,’ Lampard said.
‘I guess really Harry Redknapp’s belief in me at West Ham to give me the first opportunity, Claudio Ranieri for taking me to Chelsea, and Jose Mourinho for the influence he had on me when he first arrived. However, I took things from all my managers and am thankful to them all.’
The Blues legend claims he looked up to those already in the Hall of Fame and is ‘honoured’ to be mentioned in the same breath as them.
Lampard added: ‘As a young lad I remember just wanting to make it into the West Ham team, and looking up to players like Roy Keane, Alan Shearer and Thierry Henry so to be mentioned in the same bracket as them is a real honour. I am very proud and thankful for the recognition.’

Manchester City have announced that owner Sheikh Mansour will pay for the flight and transfer costs for supporters on the official club trip to the Champions League final.
City are set to fly out to Portugal to meet Chelsea on May 29, with costs already soaring through the roof because of the extra costs of COVID-19 tests and precautions.
A recent ruling in Portugal means fans travelling from England must arrive and depart within 24 hours of the final, and the limited number of flights means tickets prices would be more expensive.
Wary that the inflated costs could make a trip to the match impossible for some fans, City confirmed on their official website that Mansour is prepared to personally pay for flights and transfers for the thousands of City fans on the club’s travel package.

Kemi Ayorinde, a baby mama to Nigerian singer Opeyemi Rahim popularly known as Lyta has called him out on social media.
The mother of one dragged Lyta online while writing a letter to her future husband.
According to her, the Nigerian singer cannot afford N13,000 to buy balloons for their child’s upcoming 1st birthday.
Ayorinde noted that she is crying out because of the N13k, stating that the singer has been selfish, and she asked him for the money so as to get him involved in their child’s life.

She said: “I asked him to provide money for balloons cause as much as I dislike him and his selfish ways, I wanted him to feel involved in his child’s life even in the littlest ways but he’s not ready to do nothing. My father was useless too but not to this level and my son will never be.”
“And p.s I ain’t dating no broke nigga again, most of my relationships I’ve been the money maker, treating and spending on their ungrateful ass’s. I’ve dated a rich guy before so I know how things should be. And yes I said what I said, make everybody gettat.

Some weeks ago, Lyta’s baby mama, took to social media to blast Lyta and his Manager, Seyi Awonuga, for attempting to take her child from her.
In a lengthy post on Instagram, Kemi spilled the bean on her relationship with her baby daddy, Lyta.
According to Kemi, Lyta is a coward who couldn’t defend his son when he was harassed by his manager, Seyi.
Kemi also revealed how Seyi threatened to kill her and Lyta on Twitter.
Kemi noted she had no issue with Seyi threatening Lyta, but he shouldn’t get her son involved in this unnecessary drama.
She disclosed how she went to Seyi to settle things amicably but he threatened her with court fight for the custody of her child.
Kemi made it known she wants nothing to do with Lyta and she was in a healthy relationship with a man who is a better father figure to her son than Lyta will ever be.

Bitcoin plunged below $40,000 for the first time in more than three months Wednesday after China said cryptocurrencies would not be allowed in transactions and warned investors against speculative trading in them.
The comments sent the unit diving more than 10 per cent and dealt it another blow soon after being battered by comments from tycoon Elon Musk and his Tesla car company.
Trading in cryptocurrencies has been banned in China since 2019 to prevent money laundering as leaders try to stop people from shifting cash overseas. The country had been home to around 90 per cent of the global trade in the sector.
And in a statement, three state-backed industry associations — the National Internet Finance Association of China, the China Banking Association and the Payment and Clearing Association of China — said “cryptocurrency prices have skyrocketed and plummeted, and cryptocurrency trading speculation activities have rebounded”.

The price fluctuations “seriously violate people’s asset safety and disrupt normal economic and financial order”, said the statement, which was posted to social media by the People’s Bank of China.
The notice warned consumers against wild speculation, adding that the “losses caused by investment transactions are borne by the consumers themselves”, since Chinese law offers no protection to them.
It reiterated that providing cryptocurrency services to customers and crypto-based financial products was illegal for Chinese financial institutions and payment providers.
Bitcoin tumbled Wednesday from $45,600 to $39,240, its lowest since early February, and well off the record high of $64,870 seen as recently as last month. Analysts have warned it could go down as far as $30,000.
“This is the latest chapter of China tightening the noose around crypto,” Antoni Trenchev, managing partner and co-founder of London-based crypto lender Nexo, said.
And Adam Reynolds, of Saxo Markets, added: “It’s no surprise to me, as Chinese capital controls can be challenged by cryptocurrency purchases in the country and transfers out of the country.
“So avoiding the use of them in the country is essential to maintaining capital controls.”
Bitcoin has had a torrid few days. It took a heavy hit at the start of the week after Musk appeared to suggest Tesla was planning to sell its huge holdings of the unit. And that came days after the electric car giant said it would halt using it in transactions because of environmental concerns.
China is in the midst of a wide-ranging regulatory crackdown on its fintech sector, whose biggest players — including Alibaba and Tencent — have been hit with big fines after being found guilty of monopolistic practices.
The central bank has also sought to promote its own heavily regulated digital yuan, which it is testing across the country in pilot schemes.

Chelsea manager, Thomas Tuchel, has claimed N’Golo Kante was taken off as a precaution during their 2-1 win over Leicester City on Tuesday.
Kante was replaced by Mateo Kovacic after only 32 minutes of the encounter.
It was Kovacic’s first game since April 10 due to a hamstring injury.
Tuchel is now hoping Kante is not injured ahead of their last league fixture against Aston Villa and the Champions League final against Manchester City.

“He told me he went out before an injury. He felt his hamstrings, he was worried that he’d get injured if he continued to play.
“So we put out Kova (Kovacic). That was a huge risk but it was the moment to take risk as it was a game of highest importance. I am happy it worked out.
“Hopefully NG (Kante) will come back, we are a different team with him,” Tuchel said.

Former Governor of Kwara State, Abdulfatah Ahmed has said he was not invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) over alleged diversion of N9billion.
Recall that Ahmed was alleged to have been grilled at the headquarters of the EFCC in Jabi over fraud.
It was alleged that his invitation by the agency was connected to how funds to the tune of about N9billion were diverted from the coffers of Kwara State Government during his tenure as Governor of Kwara State, between 2011 and 2019.
But writing on his Twitter page, Ahmed said he was invited over a contract awarded by the State government when he was commissioner for Finance.

He further stated that he had been released on bail.
He wrote, “In response to an invitation by the commission via a letter dated 26th April 2021, I voluntarily visited the EFCC in Abuja yesterday with regard to a complaint about a contract awarded by Kwara State Government while I was State the Commissioner for Finance.
“I was not accused of any wrongdoing. Neither was I questioned about any N9b transaction. I have since been granted bail.”
