We have accepted Allah’s wish over the death of our father.”<br /> <br /> Sanwo-Olu described the late Osinowo, fondly called Pepperito by his admirers, as “a patriotic and passionate nation builder”, noting that the deceased dedicated his adult life and energy to the service of Lagos and the nation.<br /> <br /> While condoling his widow, Alhaja Mariam Osinowo, the governor recalled that the deceased usually had an abundance of advice to offer on good governance and how party unity could be entrenched.<br /> <br /> He said, “I am personally at a loss over the death of Senator Osinowo. I am yet to recover from the shock because of the good relationship I had with him, even before I became the governor. His passing is also a huge loss to our nation and Lagos State in particular, because of his years of service.<br /> <br /> “No doubt that Senator Osinowo’s personality was larger than life. Ugwuanyi, who expressed dismay at the state of the facilities at the hospital, having been neglected for many decades, promised that his administration will, as a matter of urgency, carry out major upgrade and rehabilitation works at the health facility.<br /> <br /> The General Hospital Oji-River, formerly known as Leprosy Mission Hospital, according to the Permanent Secretary, State Ministry of Health, Dr. Ifeanyi Agujiobi, who was among the dignitaries that received the governor on arrival, was established in 1954 by the then Church Missionary Society (CMS), now Anglican Church.<br /> <br /> Dr. Agujiobi added that the management of a section of the hospital was taken over by the old Anambra State Government in 1977, then designated as Oji River Sub District Hospital, and now under the management of the Enugu State Government as General Hospital Oji-River.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Speaking further, Gov. Ugwuanyi pointed out that the outbreak of the Coronovirus Disease (COVID-19) pandemic has reset the world thinking about health, disclosing that the minimum his administration can do is to upgrade and rehabilitate health facilities in the state.<br /> <br /> The governor, who also inspected the Agbalenyi/Enugu-Onitsha Expressway link road, newly reconstructed by his administration, reiterated the state government’s commitment to quality and affordable health care delivery in the state and assured the jubilant people of Oji River Local Government Area that work will soon commence on the hospital.<br /> <br /> Stakeholders of Oji-River LGA who received the governor include the Member representing Oji-River Constituency in the State House of Assembly, Hon. As such, the Army general said he ‘was trying to convey a message of optimism in the management of the crisis.’<br /> <br /> Latin America’s largest country accounts for about a quarter of the roughly four million coronavirus cases in the Americas and nearly 25 per cent of the deaths, she said.<br /> <br /> ‘We are not seeing transmission slowing down’ in Brazil, Etienne said.<br /> <br /> PAHO recommends that Brazil and other regional countries strengthen social distancing and urged that reopening of the economy be done slowly and carefully.<br /> <br /> Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro has long opposed social distancing measures, and many of the country’s states are re-opening for business even though the outbreak remains severe.<br /> <br /> Some villagers in the eastern Amazon are spurning Brazilian government advice to take the malaria drug hydroxychloroquine to keep the novel coronavirus at bay and are drinking tea of jambú, also known as the toothache plant.<br /> <br /> Maria de Nazaré Sajes, 65, tested positive for the coronavirus and believes she fought off the symptoms by drinking the infusion of bitter leaves.<br /> <br /> ‘I made jambú tea and felt healthy again. This made the total deaths to rise to 475 while 745 new cases, the highest so far, were recorded in 21 states.<br /> <br /> On June 19, 12 persons died, pushing the total deaths to 487, while there were 667 new cases, pushing the total cases to 19,147.<br /> <br /> As of Friday afternoon, Lagos had 108 deaths, Kano, 50; Edo, 31; Borno, 30; FCT, 28; Rivers, 26; Katsina, 22; Delta, 17; Sokoto, 14; Ogun, 15; Ondo, 15; Gombe, 13; Bauchi, 11; Kaduna, 10; Oyo, nine; Anambra, nine; Yobe, eight; Jigawa, six; Kwara, six; Kebbi, six; Nasarawa, six; Plateau, five; Enugu, five; Zamfara, five; Osun, four; Adamawa, four; Imo, three; Bayelsa, three; Niger, two; Akwa Ibom, two; and Ekiti, two.<br /> <br /> The government had explained that the increase in the number of cases was due to increased testing capacity and because coronavirus in Nigeria had entered community transmission stage.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile,  the Ebonyi State Governor David Umahi has ordered the immediate shutdown of courts in the state.<br /> <br /> Umahi said the courts should remain closed for the next 10 days, saying the move would enable workers in the judiciary sector in the state, to fumigate their buildings and environs.<br /> <br /> This is just as a former Chief Medical Director in the state died of the COVID-19 virus on Thursday.

an average of 13 incidents per week, up from the usual 5 to 6 incidents per week, pre-COVID-19.<br /> <br /> “Also, a few days ago the Inspector-General of Police disclosed that the police had recorded about 717 rape incidents across the country between January and May 2020.<br /> <br /> “And that 799 suspects had so far been arrested, 631 cases conclusively investigated and charged to court while 52 cases are still under investigation.<br /> <br /> “What these figures show is an escalation of an already disgraceful trend of violence against women and girls in the country, ” Prof. Osinbajo observed.<br /> <br /> He referenced the rapes and murders of Mrs Queen Igbinevbo, a pregnant woman in her home in Edo State on May 20, 2020, and Vera Uwaila Omozuwa, a 22-year old student of University of Benin on May 27, 2020.<br /> <br /> According to the VP, there is also the case of Barakat Bello, an 18-year old female student of Federal College of Animal Health and Production in Ibadan on June 1, 2020, among others, saying these assaults “should never have happened and must not be allowed to continue.”<br /> <br /> Prof. Osinbajo reassured that President Muhammadu Buhari and State Governors recently undertook to take drastic actions against gender-based violence.<br /> <br /> “On June 11, State Governors, under the auspices of the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF), agreed to declare a state of emergency on rape and gender-based violence against women and children, while renewing their commitment to ensuring that offenders face the full weight of the law.<br /> <br /> “Similarly, the President, in his June 12 address to Nigerians, reiterated government’s determination to fight gender-based violence through the instrumentality of the law and awareness creation,’’ he said.<br /> <br /> According to him, there is need to look beyond just legislation to fix the problem, but rather, interrogate the deeply dysfunctional cultures, the systemic flaws in our institutions and the perverse social norms which enable s3xual and gender-based violence.<br /> <br /> Prof. Osinbajo also acknowledged that the Women Affairs Ministry, National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons, the International Community and several Civil Society Organizations had also been at the forefront of finding solutions and transformative strategies to address the root causes of gender-based violence.<br /> <br /> Present at the virtual meeting was the Women Affairs Minister, Dame Paullen Tallen, the Executive Secretary of the NHRC, Tony Ojukwu, representatives of the United Nations and Civil Society Organizations.

The administration of the programme is overseen by an Advisory Board.<br /> <br /> As of November 2011, Airport Carbon Accreditation has been extended to airports in the Asia-Pacific region, in cooperation with ACI Asia-Pacific. The programme was also extended to the African region of ACI in June 2013.<br /> <br /> In September 2014, Airport Carbon Accreditation took off in North America and it went global in November 2014 with its extension to airports in Latin America and the Caribbean.<br /> <br /> Airports applying to become accredited must have their carbon footprints independently verified in accordance with ISO14064 (Greenhouse Gas Accounting). Evidence of this must be provided to the programme administrator (WSP) together with all claims regarding carbon management processes which must also be independently verified.<br /> <br /> The definitions of emissions footprints used by Airport Carbon Accreditation follow the principles of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development (WBCSD) and the World Resources Institute (WRI) “Greenhouse Gas Protocol” Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard.<br /> <br /> When considering the emissions from aircraft within the airport perimeter and on final approach and initial departure, Airport Carbon Accreditation uses the International Civil Aviation Organisation’s (ICAO) definition of the Landing-Take Off cycle and requires airports to comply with these definitions.

What is happening today we foretold it, and we knew they will happen”.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> Saying that misrule, injustice and hardship are hitting hard on the people of Nigeria who are neglected by their leaders, Kanu noted that “for the first time in the history of Nigeria, the indigenous People of Katsina have risen up and have asked for a state of emergency.<br /> <br /> According to him, “if the Federal Government does not call him and IPOB to discuss Biafra exit, with what happened in Katsina, they will lose Sokoto also.”<br /> <br /> He condemned the killing of Christians in the north, saying, with the number of Christians in the north, which he said outnumbered the Muslims, if they retaliate, it would be fatal.<br /> <br /> Urging the Federal Government to take action and stop the killing, the IPOB leader warned what he called the Fulani cabal that “very soon, you are going to lose your emirate in Sokoto, if you keep delaying people’s right to separate”.<br /> <br /> He berated Church leaders in Nigeria for not speaking out against the bad governance, injustice, killings and other atrocities going on in the country-<br /> <br /> “The problem with the churches in Nigeria is that you are just about money; you keep quiet with all the happenings in the country. You don’t condemn the killings in Nigeria.”<br /> <br /> According to him, “IPOB is light and it wants the light to shine on the people of Biafra. I want people to understand that we have proof for the migration of our people from Israel.<br /> <br /> “The book of Zephaniah 3:10 says, after Ethiopia you will see my people there. Look at the map, after Ethiopia, it is Biafara.<br /> <br /> “I told you that Biafra is the kingdom of God on earth. Everywhere they are, they represent  light. How else do you need me to tell you that you are special?   Biafra is not like any other nation of the world and we make no apologies to that”.<br /> <br /> Kanu emphatically condemned Igbo traditional rulers and community leaders who give out land to killer herdsmen in return for money, who turn back to main, rape and kill the owners of the land.<br /> <br /> He also cautioned IPOB members and Ndigbo that “not everyone that shout Biafra, Biafra is one of us. To be one of us, you must be committed. If you are not a family member, you are not one of us.<br /> <br /> He said: “There will be no tolerance of cabals in IPOB. For those in the USA, there must be financial transparency, no body must be in possession of cash; everything must go though the banks.”<br /> <br /> “And back home in Biafra land, nobody is allowed to levy anybody in Biafra land, if you know you did so, you should resign before Sunday or be disgraced on air.”

The conspirators sent fraudulent wire transfer requests and attached fake invoices.<br /> <br /> “Okeke participated in the effort to victimize Unatrac through fraudulent wire transfers totaling nearly $11 million, funds which were transferred overseas.<br /> <br /> “Okeke pleaded guilty to a conspiracy to commit wire fraud.”<br /> <br /> According to the US Department of Justice, the 32-year-old faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in prison when sentenced on October 22.

Today, we have a record number of over 17, 000 and it is still counting and the truth of this matter is that the adverse effects of these numbers will not be seen now until three weeks ahead. That is when you will begin to see the projections of the mortality<br /> <br /> “Because it takes that length of time to go through the processes of incubation and the adverse effect of it. We have got hard days ahead. We have got tough days ahead. We need everybody to understand that we are not out of the woods yet.<br /> <br /> “Sometimes, when I am coming to the office in the morning I see people casually put their masks under their chin, that’s when they care to carry it and people go about their businesses as if there is nothing to dread.<br /> <br /> “There are more difficult days ahead, there are harder times ahead as our figures begin to rise.<br /> <br /> “We have not finished with the first wave. We have not even peaked. So don’t talk about the second wave. Let us deal with the first wave because there is so much work to do.”<br /> <br /> The SGF noted that 80 per cent of infected persons are not in isolation centres because of fear of stigmatisation.<br /> <br /> He said the government is taking care of  only 20 per cent of patient who show up at isolation centres after developing critical symptoms.<br /> <br /> Mustapha said: “You may care to know that almost 80 per cent of people that are infected are in no form of isolation centre or hospital. We are just caring for about 20 per cent that have decided to show up or provide themselves when they are critically ill for the management and care.<br /> <br /> “Most people, one of the reasons they decide to avoid the isolation centres or don’t present themselves until it is late and complications begin to develop is because of this simple reason of being rejected and of being treated differently.<br /> <br /> “My appeal to all of us as Nigerians is that there is no point stigmatising anybody because he is infected with coronavirus. It is a disease that has defiled boundaries, the high and mighty are afflicted, the low and downtrodden are afflicted, the rich are afflicted, and the poor are afflicted. It has no respect for anybody either gender, creed or nationality.”<br /> <br /> On resistance to change, Mustapha said: “By far the greatest challenges are human resistance to change, stigmatization, mental health, skepticism, culture, religious belief, rising incidents of domestic violence and a host of others”.<br /> <br /> “There is resurgence of a second wave in countries like China and the USA and this should put all of us on alert, knowing that this virus can only be eliminated if we agree to play our part.<br /> <br /> “This call becomes more pertinent as we go fully into the rainy season that ordinarily brings with it cold, catarrh and other COVID-19 mimicking illnesses. Our call to take personal responsibility cannot be more strident than now”, he said.<br /> <br /> While recalling the terms of reference given to the committee, Mustapha enumerated some of what he called the modest achievements it has recorded within the period.<br /> <br /> He said “there has, no doubt, been some modest achievements, challenges and lessons learned over the past three months. The COVID-19 is certainly the greatest invisible public health emergency that has threatened humanity in modern history.<br /> <br /> “As at the last recorded numbers on Wednesday 17th June, 2020, global figures of confirmed cases were 8,408, 203 resulting in 451,463 deaths in 213 countries. Unfortunately, as at the same period, Nigeria accounts for 17,735 and 469 fatalities.<br /> <br /> Warning that the risk of contacting the virus is higher than before, Mustapha said: “There’s no doubt that a lot of community transmission is happening and it continues to increase across the states.<br /> <br /> “Now, more than ever before. If you go out, you are more likely to get COVID-19 than before. Your risk of acquiring COVID-19, because of the numbers we have now is more than three, four weeks ago when we had the lockdown. So there isn’t any room for relaxation at this point.<br /> <br /> “The reason why we had to relax the lockdown was in order to sustain the livelihoods of Nigerians, particularly those who depend on daily income for survival, as well as to sustain our economy, it wasn’t because the COVID-19 is gone, or because we should be more relaxed in terms of our prevention measures”.<br /> <br /> Mustapha said wearing of nosemasks was not optional, but mandatory, adding that wearing nosemasks must be done properly.

They remain in their comfort zones as their subjects are subjected to arson and killings of the highest degree.<br /> <br /> ‘’This has thrown the affected areas into despair and the bandits are emboldened, seeing that the government seems not much bothered, resulting from its action about the plight of the people so affected.<br /> <br /> ‘’We are, however, not oblivious of the fact that security matters are not often for public consumption, but not in perilous situations.  Citizens’ confidence need to be strengthened, with resounding reassurances. Government should not reduce itself to just issuing light press statements on security upheavals.<br /> <br /> “As stakeholders, we strongly believe that the repeated killings are blameworthy, and no one found culpable in this gross act of negligence should be spared. He was playing God. One is vindicated as I had maintained that Comrade Adams was no more a valid chairman of our great party.<br /> <br /> “That out of narcissism he glossed over his valid suspension by his ward executive and with the culture of impunity failed to adhere to the provisions of APC Constitution.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> “A man who lost his Ward, LGA and State Exco has no reason to remain chairman. The good thing is that his suspension will afford a golden opportunity for the leadership of our party to overhaul and reposition our great party along the core progressive tenets, as we enshrined during merger in our constitution.<br /> <br /> “Let us be frank, and do a careful review of Adams’ stewardship and take our party as a company in the stock market. His expression of frustration made him hell-bent on jumping despite being restrained by the officers.<br /> <br /> “He’s been taken to Oworo Police Station where his family was contacted.”<br /> <br /> Recall that similar situation in February this year, a man also attempted to jump inside the Lagoon and it took the efforts of men of the state police command to rescue him while also in October last year, a middle-aged man came out of an Uber cab and attempted to plunge into the lagoon.
