It is hard for me to imagine that something could have leaked from there,’’ Sputnik quoted him as saying.</p> <p>It was reported that the virus which was rumoured to have started in a seafood market in Wuhan has killed 2.3million people.</p> <p>A total of 105 million persons have been confirmed positive and 58.6 million persons have recovered from the disease.</p>

On getting to the Zenith Bank at Dutse Alhaji, the criminals whisked him away. Till date, nothing has been heard of him and no update has been provided by the security operatives under which jurisdiction the incident happened.</p> <p>It could be recalled that an angry mob burnt three suspected kidnappers to death along Dutse-under bridge late 2019 as they abducted a young girl and made to escape the area. Similarly, on the Kubwa expressway, about 5 suspected fraudsters, otherwise known as ‘one-chance’ were nabbed by some angry mob as they attempted to whisked their victims away.</p> <p>Meanwhile, The issue of car theft is relatively becoming a normal activity in Abuja with cases been recorded in many parts of the city.</p> <p>On December 2, 2020, the FCT Police Command arrested a seven-man car theft syndicate at Sabon-Gari along Bwari axis during stop and search operation and recovered firearms from the members.</p> <p>Those arrested by the Police Detectives from Bwari Division were: Abbas Ibrahim, 32; John Aefa, 36; John Ofo, 35; Jerry Bulus, 32; Uzochukwu Michael, 34; Abdulrahman Suleiman, 42; and Stanley Okeke, 34, all male, at .</p> <p>Last week also, the FCT Police Command said about seven suspects were arrested along Kabusa, Bwari, Kwali, Gwagwalada and Abaji axis for armed robbery, cultism and kidnapping.</p> <p>Recall the story of Chizoba Ede who hawks snacks around Lugbe, Abuja who unknowingly boarded a vehicle belonging to hoodlums popular known as ‘one chance’ along Wuse Area.</p> <p>According to her: “They collected the N100, 000 cash I realized from my sales that day. They also collected my ATM card and asked for my pin which I gave them. They brought out a POS and inserted the card into it, but the network didn’t come up to carry out transactions.</p> <p>“They thought I gave them a wrong pin and beat me up. After a while, the network came up and they transferred all the N360, 000 from my account”.</p> <p>Only a few days ago, about three relatives of the Bwari area council Chairman were kidnapped. Some of the suspects, Daily Post gathered, have been arrested.</p> <p>Our correspondent visited Shakpatu, Zone C Community in Ushafa, Bwaria Area Council where about 3 persons were recently kidnapped.</p> <p>Chairman of the community, Bashiru Azimi told newsmen correspondent that the community has been faced with several security challenges in recent time.</p> <p>The Chairman lamented that the environment itself is a threat to the community’s safety, “Unfortunately, Ushafa is surrounded by thick bushes and rocks especially the Dam area that has been serving as an escape route and hideouts for these men.</p> <p>“Ushafa witnessed its first horrible encounter when on a faithful evening, a man (was kidnapped from his house), a woman and her nephew were kidnapped. The kidnappers came with well armed AK47 and for over 45 mins they carried out this operation.</p> <p>“We are all living with one eye closed and the other widely opened. How I wish, the security agents will come to our aid. May God bless Nigeria”, Azimi added.</p> <p>Meanwhile, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed on Tuesday said the current state of security in the FCT is better than what the President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration inherited in 2015.</p> <p>While speaking on Radio Nigeria Programme, “Politics Nationwide”, the Minister said: “In 2015, Abuja was not safe for Nigerians as insurgents bombed the UN building, a motor park in Nyanya and some media houses.</p> <p>However, when newsmen contacted the FCT Police Public Relations Officer, Mariam Yusuf for comments, she assured residents that the command was putting up strategies to ensure Abuja is safe for residents.</p> <p>“We have deployed overt and covert strategies to ensure the protection of lives and property of FCT residents,” she stated.</p>

Are they the only Nigerians?</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>“Something may be up like Adeyanju posited. However justice can only be delayed but can’t be denied.”</p> <p>A legal practitioner and Head of Chambers of Akeredolu and Olujimi Chambers in an interview stated that for people to have worked for such a long number of years, they deserved to have a long rest.</p> <p>He noted that the President has the power of appointments and he has duly exercised it but the issue of diplomatic immunity is a different ball game.</p> <p>According to Comrade Waheed Lawal, Chairman Osun Civil Societies Coalition (OCSC), “the news indeed came as a shocker to me personally. I can’t but imagine how the same persons the president sacked are those whose name were forwarded to the National Assembly as non-career ambassadors.</p> <p>“These are old people that should have retired years ago but they even overstayed their time in public service as stipulated in the country’s Constitution. Maybe the president is indeed clueless.”</p> <p>Comrade Lawal maintained that Nigeria had abundance of capable youths who can bring fresh insights into governance and administration in the country.</p> <p>A journalist and a civil right activist, Ayodeji Ologun opined that the president and the presidency has a lot under the shades.</p> <p>In his words, “it would ordinarily be expected that men who just left service needs time to rest and enjoy their retirement but having them almost immediately been appointed as ambassadors to me is an attempt to shield them from investigations and charges that may come against them.</p> <p>“Also, there are more than enough hands across the country that could serve as ambassadors. So I wonder why the same immediate past service chiefs? Like it has often been speculated, these individuals possibly have some very deep secrets which makes the presidency want to shield them and make it impossible to dispense with them. To me, there is a grand plan and only time will reveal it.</p> <p>“I share Deji’s view. There has been allegations of abuse of office against some of the immediate past service chiefs and one would expect that their retirement provides an avenue to have them charged under the law but then, with their recent nomination and if eventually appointed as they are most likely to, they become unavailable to face their crimes. It is an unmerited favour if you ask me.”</p> <p>The Convener of Dialogue 365, Waheed Saka, in agreement with the legal practitioner stated that the right to appoint ambassadors is a presidential right subject to confirmation by the National Assembly, but maintained that this nomination was a presidential way of rewarding failure.</p> <p>“Did the president think that such a nomination will positively affect the psyche of an average Nigerian who still maintains that security lapses in the country was caused by the fundamental inefficiency and ineffective of the ex-service chiefs?” He asked.</p> <p>He maintained that the nomination was unmerited and a reward for inefficiency and stand condemned.</p> <p>He revealed that the public opinion was generally against such a negative reward of failure, adding that Nigeria is not in shortage of credible, intelligent and effective diplomat to warrant such a recycling of ex-service chiefs as ambassadors.</p> <p>Saka called on the National Assembly to reject the nomination in the interest of fairness since it was shameful and condemnable.</p>

The opposition halted the selection process because WTO decisions are made on the basis of a consensus of its members.</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>The 66-year-old former minister had also said she remained positive of becoming the first African and first female director-general in the 25-year history of the WTO despite ‘hiccups’.</p> <p>Okonjo-Iweala serves on Twitter’s board of directors, as chair of the GAVI vaccine alliance as well as a special envoy for the World Health Organisation’s COVID-19 fight.</p>

Negotiations settled the grievances of the militants in the South-South so president Buhari should borrow from that ideology to end terror attacks in his own government,” sheikh Gumi added.</p> <p>According to Sheikh Gumi, almost all the heinous crimes in Nigeria are being perpetrated by the unemployed youths who have no defined means of livelihood for a number of years, pointing out that a hungry man is an angry man.</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>The Islamic scholar who visited some of the bandits dens and hideouts in Zamfara state said that the Fulani unrepentant bandits tabled some of their grievances which they said have not been addressed by the state government.</p> <p>He said that the Fulani unrepentant bandits demanded for justice in dealing with the Fulani people, saying that both the security agencies and the outlawed Yansakai members have classified the Fulani people as third-class citizens in a country that belongs to every body.</p> <p>The Islamic scholar explained that the Fulani unrepentant bandits also lamented that mere seeing any Fulani herdsman with a car or motorcycle has become a serious crime against the security agencies and the outlawed Yansakai members as they would seize the car or motorcycle from the Fulani herdsmen describing them as bandits or kidnappers.</p> <p>Sheikh Gumi noted that the same Fulani unrepentant bandits also complained that during their meetings with the state government on peace accord and reconciliation, all the promises that were made by the state government did not reach the Fulani herdsmen as the kind gestures were being hijacked by the middle men between the Fulani herdsmen and the state government.</p> <p>“In some of our communities, there is no potable drinking water, no accessible road, no good health care delivery service or any form of social facility and until the state government addresses these problems, we will not embrace the peace accord and reconciliation” the unrepentant bandits lamented.</p> <p>The Islamic scholar, therefore, called on the state government to as a matter of urgency ensure judicious distribution of any right that belongs to the Fulani people in the state, stressing that hijacking of their rights will aggravate the already existing tension in the state.</p> <p>“There is nowhere that peace can reign without justice and if there is justice, the federal and state governments would not have been wasting huge amount of money to quell banditry in the state” </p>

The ancient stool of Ile-Ife, the Ooni of Ife must be respected and all Obas should be respected and no one should drag them or their names in the mud.</p> <p>“One of the things that men of goodwill needs to do is that we can see that what is causing this is leadership deficit in almost all over the country, South-West inclusive, we have to avoid all reckless rhetorics, we are not barbarics, we must not allow those things to be in the front of the burner at all.”</p> <p>The cleric called for end to open grazing in order to stop the Fulani herdsmen and farmer clashes rocking parts of the country.</p>

We will encourage our personnel as much as possible,” Ogbadu said.</p>

Sometimes, not all the cases of suicide are really what people think,” Opalola added.</p>

They must stop, or the law should stop them by all means necessary.”</p>

In the video, the young lady can be seen forced inside the police vehicle.</p> <p>According to reports, it was alleged that she harassed the estate security personnel and vandalised items which the estate charged her about N700,000. It was gathered that she and her husband refused to pay the money so the estate management cut their power supply till they pay for the damages but they reconnected it.</p> <p>Furthermore, a general meeting was called to resolve the issued but it was to no avail which made the comedian leave the house. It was further alleged that the young lady, took some thugs to harass the chairman of the estate.</p> <a name='more' id="more"></a> <p>The police were invited and she was arrested. In the said video, the residents of the estate who filmed her arrest identified her as Buchi’s wife.</p> <p>Reacting to the allegation, Buchi said that the reports are ‘all lies.’ He claimed that there was an altercation with the estate security because they beat his niece and his younger brother fought the estate security who harassed his niece. He made this known in an exclusive interview with The Punch.</p> <p>Buchi said, “I would not want to go into it but I will just want to say that all the allegations are lies. We had an altercation with the estate because one of the security men beat up my niece. My younger brother fought the guy and they fined us. I disagreed because we needed to go into the reason for the altercation; the security people harassed a tenant. They should not fine me because my younger brother defended my niece as I was not around when it happened. They fined us and I said that is not right.”</p> <p>The humour merchant said that he decided to take the matter to court and after informing the estate association, they cut his power supply.</p> <p>“I initiated legal action and I informed the estate that I will take the matter to court. They said that since I was taking the estate to court, they will not provide power. I am not around and I had already told my wife not to make any trouble with them. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic courts are not sitting so we cannot institute any action. I have a ten-year-old daughter and the heat was getting unbearable for her so my wife went to demand that they should give restore the power, that was part of the video online, this led her to go to the estate association president’s house,” he said.</p> <p>The funnyman said that the main problem arose when his wife went to estate association president’s house to demand that power be restored in the house. He claimed that the residents of the association ganged up against his wife, and destroyed her vehicle.</p> <p>“I think what really caused the problem was that she went to the estate association president’s house and she said that she and her children were not going to leave until they restored the power. That was what caused everything. In the process of trying to eject her, they got into an altercation. My younger brother had to step in. The president cried foul to the members of the association and it turned to a mob and they started manhandling my wife. They went ahead to destroy her car. I have video evidence. I am asking, what did her car do to them? Currently, I am not around but I have been making calls. They took her to the police station but I was able to get her out last night. My wife never embarrassed me in public. She did not sleep at the police station. It was a gang up against my wife,” Buchi said.</p>
