His car wasn’t that lucky though. The car was vandalized with a broken side mirror.”<br /> <br /> Report of the sad incident was immediately lodged at the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Rivers Police Command, headed by Zaki Ahmed, while Ubaji’s rifle had not been recovered, with Ewelu and other injured policemen still receiving treatment in undisclosed hospitals in Port Harcourt, as at press time.<br /> <br /> It was exclusively gathered yesterday evening in Port Harcourt through a top security source, who would not want to be named, that the unfortunate incident heightened tension in the area, with passersby, motorists, other road users and persons in the neighbourhood scampering to safety, to avoid being hit by stray bullets in the confusion.<br /> <br /> The security source said: “Today, November 11, 2017 (yesterday) at 3 p.m., the Transportation Minister, who was driving from the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, in company with police escorts, got his convoy intercepted by the Rivers governor (Wike) at Trans-Amadi Industrial Layout by Nkpogu in Port Harcourt. The security details managed to ferry Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to safety, after which the Rivers governor led his Chief Security Officer (CSO), Promise Wosu, a Superintendent of Police (SP), and about ten mobile policemen, to attack his predecessor/benefactor’s convoy.<br /> <br /> “The Rivers governor and his troops physically assaulted by slapping and bruising the policemen, especially Inspector Johnson Imonikhe, Sgt. Eteng Ewelu and Sgt. Princewill Ubaji, attached to the transportation minister and the governor made away with the AK-47 rifle of Sgt. Princewill Ubaji, one of the policemen attached to the transportation minister.<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> “The AK-47 rifle was forcibly taken away personally by Governor Wike, who was accompanied by his CSO. The policeman with blood on his face, Sgt. Eteng Ewelu, was hit with an iron by Wosu (Wike’s CSO), in the presence of the Rivers State governor.<br /> <br /> “The snatched AK-47 rifle is still in the custody of the Rivers governor’s team and the incident has been referred to State CID (SCID) for investigation.”<br /> <br /> When contacted for his reaction through the telephone yesterday evening, the Rivers Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), Nnamdi Omoni, a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), stated that he would find out the details, asking our reporter to call back in ten minutes, but when contacted twice, after thirty minutes, he did not picked the calls, and he had not returned the call, as at press time.<br /> <br /> Nwakaudu in a statement said: “Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on Saturday escaped assassination, as Special Anti-Robbery Squad operatives and soldiers of the Nigerian Army in the motorcade of the Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, attacked his convoy.<br /> <br /> “The governor, who was on project inspection, was attacked at Nwanja Junction on Trans-Amadi Road. The SARs personnel and soldiers in the minister’s convoy hit down the governor’s escort rider and attacked the policemen in the pilot car. Mr Debewari, Aide-de-Camp (ADC) to the minister of transportation, supervised the attack, which included damage of cameras held by journalists.<br /> <br /> “Also part of the attack was the Commander of F-SARS in Rivers State, Mr. Akin Fakorede (a Chief Superintendent of Police), who received the minister of transportation at the Port Harcourt International Airport and accompanied him on his trip.”<br /> <br /> He added that after the attack the governor continued with his inspection of projects, adding that Wike was not harmed.<br /> <br /> The minister’s media office said the incident which occurred along Trans-Amadi Road, Nwaja axis involved cars of many of Amaechi’s supporters while the Minister’s black jeep was intercepted and blocked at the junction by the security motorcycle outrider attached to Wike after two cars had passed through.<br /> <br /> The statement added, “One of the two cars had security men assigned to protect the minister in Port Harcourt. Suddenly, gun-toting security men attached to Wike’s convoy surrounded the Minister’s car, threatening to shoot him. They hit the car, tried to smash the windscreens, back and side windows and broke a side mirror. All through this attack, Amaechi remained calm, inside the fortified Jeep. While the attack occurred, Wike remained inside his vehicle.”<br /> <br /> It added that the minister eventually passed through after the intervention of the security team on ground to protect him in Port Harcourt. It continued, “However, when Governor Wike got to the point where the incident occurred after Amaechi’s vehicle had gone by, his security men blocked the road again, dragged out from a vehicle and thoroughly beat up a police man attached to protect Amaechi in Port Harcourt. The Policeman’s riffle was also taken from him.”<br /> <br /> The Amaechi media office added that Wike came out of his car, and with his security team went from one vehicle to another of Amaechi’s supporters charging at them, harassing and abusing them. It alleged that Wike’s security men were heard loudly insulting Amaechi and calling him derogative names.<br /> <br /> In the meantime, Ikwerre youths have condemned what they called the attack on Amaechi and the policemen in his convoy.<br /> <br /> The Ikwerre Youth Movement (IYM) International from the four Rivers Local Government Areas of Port Harcourt City, Obio/Akpor, Ikwerre and Emohua, described the attack as very unfortunate and least expected.<br /> <br /> Amaechi and Wike are both Ikwerre. We have gone ahead in the University of Lagos to address it.<br /> <br /> “With the test kit, anyone who is suspected, his/her urine or blood — depending on what we want to do — is collected for test.<br /> <br /> “The thing about drug is that when you take it, it will be in your blood for a long time, so you cannot say, ‘I did not use it’ once the test kit detects it.<br /> <br /> “Before we started using the test kit, everyone we picked denied using drug since we could not find any evidence,” he said.<br /> <br /> According to him, with the test kit, the university has been able to pin down victims, but granted them amnesty.<br /> <br /> He said although the university’s regulation provides that any student found dealing with drug should be expelled, the management had been warning and rehabilitating culprits.<br /> <br /> “With the rehabilitation, the victims are given two or three semesters to ‘get clean.’ By this, we mean they will visit the medical centre on a monthly basis to get tested.<br /> <br /> “If, after two or three visits, you are found clean, we will admit you back to the system; if not, you are sent out.<br /> <br /> “This we do not to unnecessarily punish them, but to assist them to find a way to regain themselves,” he said.<br /> <br /> Bello said about 100 students of the university were detected to be using hard drugs in 2016.<br /> <br /> “One hundred out of over 50,000 students (35,000 full-time and 15,000 to 17,000 part-time) may seem insignificant, but to us, one person on drug is a problem to the university community .<br /> <br /> “If the individual is not stopped, he or she will influence so many others,” he said.<br /> <br /> On cultism, Bello said it was a cankerworm in the education sector, just as are examination malpractice and drug abuse.<br /> <br /> He said cultism affects even secondary schools and sometimes, primary schools also.<br /> <br /> According to him, some institution in cities such as the University of Lagos would need to intensity efforts to check cultism because they are located in infested communities.<br /> <br /> Bello said the university’s management keeps a watch on cult activities through intelligence network.<br /> <br /> “We get to know once anything comes up, and we nip it in the bud. We may not have completely wiped off cultism, but it has been drastically reduced,” he said. (NAN)

This is a dangerous trend which if not nipped to the bud and arrested may jeopardise the current peace pervading the Niger Delta region at the moment.<br /> <br /> We have reiterated that Governor Wike main desire is to truncate our hard earned democracy after the failed plot by PDP to win the 2015 presidential election as his disdain for President Muhammadu Buhari, APC and Amaechi is legendary. He exhibited this hatred recently during his misguided Lecture at Chatham House, London where he disparaged the Federal Government, demarketed and rubbished all the efforts of the APC led Federal Government to right most of the wrongs of the past PDP government in a foreign land.<br /> <br /> This hater of Amaechi used his disgraceful London outing to discuss petty local politics, throwing up fallacious statistics on revenue allocation, disparaging our electoral laws and even indicting the law enforcement agencies of our Country in a foreign land. Wike during his misguided lecture complained about the non-completion of the East West Road, the Port Harcourt International Airport forgotten that he collaborated with Goodluck Jonathan and wickedly abandoned these projects for several years just to "punish" Amaechi.<br /> <br /> The party in this regard, requests for the immediate arrest and prosecution of SP Promise Wosu and all his men before Gov Wike succeeds to turn Rivers State into a theatre of unwarranted war zone only obtainable during the Omehia’s era when Port Harcourt was rated as the most risky place in the world.<br /> <br /> Finally, the party asked, must the Federal Government continue to play with kid’s glove with such a man like Wike who is a danger to the unity and peace of this nation until he plunges this nation into a monumental disaster?

They can,’’ Obasanjo said.<br /> <br /> He re-emphasised that he was no longer interested in partisan politics in Nigeria.<br /> <br /> He said that he left PDP when he discovered that the party had been destroyed beyond what he could be associated with at that point.<br /> <br /> Obasanjo said there was no reason PDP should not have ruled Nigeria for 50 years as believed by some people, but that the party caused its own problem.<br /> <br /> “That has happened in some other countries like Germany, where a party runs the affairs of the county for decades, but of course, that is not the history in our own case.’’<br /> <br /> Obasanjo said that those who destroyed the PDP were still in it and that they would not leave until the running of the party was taken over by determined, selfless, upright, and honest people.<br /> <br /> “If we are just saying PDP has a crisis, which is self-made and that the Supreme Court had resolved the crisis for us, we are just deceiving ourselves.<br /> <br /> “The Supreme Court has taken a right decision as an apex court should, but as a party, only that cannot help you to do it all.’’<br /> <br /> He prayed for PDP to get its national convention right, saying the chairmanship of the party was very important.<br /> <br /> “I had four PDP chairmen under in eight years.<br /> <br /> “So, I know what it takes to have a good or bad chairman for a party,’’ Obasanjo said.<br /> <br /> He advised Dokpesi to use his media assets well for the interest of the country to avoid and correct past mistakes.<br /> <br /> Obasanjo, who said that he and some other Nigerians work hard for the success of the party and the county, advised PDP to manage its success.<br /> <br /> Speaking earlier, Dokpesi, the founders of Daar Communications, said he was in Abeokuta to seek the prayer and blessings of Obasanjo in his ambition of becoming PDP national chairman.<br /> <br /> He said that anyone aspiring to be national chairman of a political party must consult with the former president.<br /> <br /> “I am much aware that you are not interested in patrician politics but you are the father of the nation.<br /> <br /> “You are much committed to the unity, stability and continue the existence of this country.<br /> <br /> “You have dedicated all your life to the building of this country.<br /> <br /> “Therefore, anything that is good for this country is a matter of interest to you,’’ Dokpesi said.<br /> <br /> He said that PDP would continue to plead for the forgiveness of Obasanjo for its trespasses and transgressions.<br /> <br /> Dokpesi stressed the need for both the ruling and opposition parties to be strong “even as 2019 is fast approaching’’.<br /> <br /> He was accompanied to Abeokuta by Sen. They are underrating Governor Ayodele Fayose, whom I know has the mastery but not the mystery. But the fact that the APC looks weak makes him appears mysterious.<br /> <br /> “For us to win this election, we must stand up to him. We must tell Ekiti how far Fayose’s tokenism called stomach infrastructure has gone to ruin them.<br /> <br /> “We must connect with the electorate and do a deep retrospection of why Dr Fayemi, a man who did so well lost in such a scandalous manner.<br /> <br /> “We must let them know that the N5.7 billion flyover is a waste of public funds, because it has no capacity to strengthen our economy. It will only serve as tourism for rural dwellers without benefit.<br /> <br /> “That is why we must not trivialize this issue. We must not allow all comers affair. We want you to act quickly to check these killings,” he stated.<br /> <br /> Copies of the six-page letter were given to the Chief of Staff to the President, Mr Abba Kyari, and the National Security Adviser, retired Gen. Mohammed Babagana Monguno.<br /> <br /> In it, Tsav listed victims of the assassinations to include elder statesman and politician, Mr Atoza Hindan, who was killed in Katsina-Ala, Dr. Tondo, from University of Mkar, and Mr Denen Iggana, Senior Special Assistant (Security) to Gov. Samuel Ortom.<br /> <br /> Also killed, Tsav noted, were Dr. Tavershima Adyorough, Principal Special Assistant to the Governor on Knowledge Economy and Investment, and two traditional rulers in Katsina-Ala.<br /> <br /> “Benue people are worried about the killings, but they are afraid to say anything; they are afraid of being targeted for murder.<br /> <br /> “Out of fear, even the Tiv Traditional Council has said nothing about the murder of the two chiefs. Everyone is quiet and in fear.<br /> <br /> “Journalists are also in fear. Some of them have been assaulted, arrested and detained for writing the truth. The Police must move in to restore public confidence so that people can enjoy the fruits of democracy,” he said.<br /> <br /> Tsav, however, commended the Police Commissioner in Benue, Mr Bashir Makama, over his honesty and commitment to duty, but alleged that he was not getting the support required from the state government.</div>

They were accused of kidnapping, possession of unlawful firearms, murder and attempted murder.<br /> <br /> At the last adjourned date Evans had asked the court to quash the seven counts charge against him as there was no prima facie case against him, adding that the court does not have the jurisdiction to entertain the case and also that the prosecution had no power of attorney from the Attorney-General of the Federation to prosecute the case.<br /> <br /> In her ruling Justice Taiwo held that  there was sufficient  material to try the defendants and that the court has the power and jurisdiction to entertain the matter.<br /> <br /> She said “It is my humble view that there is sufficient proof to proceed to trial. I reiterate that the onus is on the prosecution to proceed to trial. It is my view that the proof of evidence discloses something worth pushing”.<br /> <br /> On the issue of authorisation the judge also stated that the fiat was in order stating that the letter of authorisation from the Attorney-General of the Federation, dated January 2017, was sufficient.<br /> <br /> She accordingly dismissed the application.<br /> <br /> She said “I find that the  application is misconstrued and lacks merit I hereby dismiss same.”<br /> <br /> Evans had on October 23, rebuffed attempt by the state government to arraign him and others, on the ground that the court lacked jurisdiction to entertain the charges.<br /> <br /> The inability of the court  to take Evans’ plea and other defendants, compelled Justice Oluwatoyin Taiwo  to adjourn the trial till yesterday to rule on the applications filed by Evans, through his counsel Olukoya Ogungbeje challenging the court’s jurisdiction to try  him.<br /> <br /> However the plea of the defendants were  taken.<br /> <br /> The Lagos State prosecution led by the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr Adeniji Kazeem, said that Evans and Vincent Aduba had on June 23, 2014,  at about 5:30pm, at karat Street, in Amuwo Odofin, did conspire to kidnap<br /> <br /> According to the prosecution, the defendants unlawfully captured and detained one Sylvanus Hafia, and demanded a ransom of $2million dollars, for his release.<br /> <br /> Kazeem also alleged that Evans was unlawfully  in possession of firearms, on June 10, 2017, at about 5:30 pm, at Igando Lagos, four AK 47 Rifles with serial number 1960, 0907, 49014772, 20074 and two Zastava Pistols.<br /> <br /> The AG, further stated that on June 10, 2017, at about 5:30 pm, the defendants were found in possession of 70 rounds of amunitions.<br /> <br /> According to the prosecutor the offences committed were contrary to and punishable under sections 405 and 269 (3)  of the criminal laws of Lagos State, 2011 as well as Robbery and firearms special provisions contrary to section 9 (1) Act of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.<br /> <br /> Evans and Aduba pleaded not guilty to the charge.<br /> <br /> In the second charge, Evans and three others are facing seven counts charge of conspiracy, attempted kidnapping, kidnapping, murder and attempted murder.<br /> <br /> The second to fourth defendants are Joseph Ikenna Emeka, Chiemeka Arinze and Udeme Frank Upong.<br /> <br /> The prosecution  amended the second charge without attaching proof of evidence to it which made the defendants’ counsel to raise an objection.<br /> <br /> The defendants’ counsel contended  that the new charge was not properly filed before the court, and argued that failure of the prosecution to attach the  proof of evidence to the new charge was a breach of fundamental rights of the defendants to fair hearing.<br /> <br /> Evans and other defendants therefore urged the court to strike out the charge<br /> <br /> The Attorney-General, Kazeem however, opposed the application on the ground that filing of charge was in line with laid down rules.<br /> <br /> Justice Taiwo in her ruling on the fresh application of the defendants agreed with Evans and three others’ counsel, as she held that failure of the prosecution  to attach proof of evidence to the new charge was a blunder that couldn’t be over looked by the court,<br /> <br /> The court held that for the new charge to be deemed proper before the court, the prosecution must follow the due process.<br /> <br /> “I find that the amended  charge is irregularly filed . However this does not warrant that the charge should be struck out, all the prosecution needs to do is to file proof of evidence and serve same on the defence, before the next day of appearance”, the Judge held. Consequently Justice Taiwo adjourned till  December 15, for commencement of trial.</div>

Government is silent on subsidy on power and petroleum products, and minimum wage. The projection for non-oil revenue is not realistic and the deficit gap may widen after all.”<br /> <br /> In the same vein, Nwokoma described the 2018 budget as a very ambitious one.<br /> <br /> He said, “Oil production is also ambitious. We are being too optimistic without a clear plan of how to achieve our target. Over the years, we have distorted the budget cycle. This will affect implementation and good accounting. Nigeria should have a clear budget cycle and budgetary interferences should be avoided.<br /> <br /> “N305 per dollar exchange rate is not real. I foresee a wide margin in the budget implementation. Government ambition is magical. If we hasten the passage of the 2018 budget for February or so, 2017 budget implementation will be inconclusive.”<br /> <br /> He added, “We are not learning from the challenges or problems of 2017 budget. It is likely we fall into same mess. Our budgetary woes have become recurrent, and we are not learning from the past.”<br /> <br /> To this end, Yusuf said that the budget had a higher capital spending compared to previous years. This, he said, was commendable.<br /> <br /> He also said the military, police, health and education were areas for higher recurrent spending, given their critical nature.<br /> <br /> He added, “That the budget is focusing more on infrastructure is a good way to go. But given that subsidy areas are becoming a huge threat to the economy and the budget is rather silent on it calls for worry.<br /> <br /> Yusuf said, “Being totally silent about this is bad. Contractor arrears are also becoming a threat as over ‘N2tn is at stake. The risk involved in doing business with government is becoming worrisome.<br /> <br /> “The private sector participation in the budget was not made clear especially in terms of infrastructure financing. The private sector should play a major role here.”</div>

He has reportedly transferred his healing spirit to his mother, who can now heal anyone no matter the spiritual problems especially anytime she carries the wonder boy on her bosom.<br /> <br /> It was gathered that only the mother of the baby, Mrs. Sikiratu Ajayi, claimed the baby uttered the words “E polongo ogo mi o, e polongo ogo mi o ewe nje o” meaning that the parents should proclaim his power across the universe and that there is efficacy in herbs. She was said to have passed the message to her husband after which the news has continued to spread like wildfire. Mixed reactions have trailed the claim by the baby’s parents as many described it as a scam.<br /> <br />  They argued that the parents were unable to produce any evidence that the baby actually spoke. But the parents insisted that the baby not only spoke to them but possessed healing powers. Whether the story is real or fake, Nigerians are not bothered as they troop to the residence of the Ajayi for miracles.<br /> <br />  The wonder baby has become a household name not only in Ondo state but across the country. Interestingly, the parents are making money on daily basis courtesy of the baby, who they described as a special gift. His sobriquet was changed from baby Samuel to “Daddy Samuel” when his reported healing powers began to spin money for the family who could hardly afford three square meal before his arrival.<br /> <br /> <b>N600 consultation fee</b><br /> <br /> NE gathered that the parents of the wonder baby collect N600 as consultation fee out of which N100 is for the sachet water provided by their landlady. After consultation, the sachet of water is prayed upon by the mother, who claimed that his son had transferred healing powers to her. Each visitor drops a minimum of N5000 in a bowl kept in the consulting room for the wonder baby.<br /> <br /> The mother now carries the wonder boy in her blossom while attending to miracle seekers in the healing centre. Surprisingly, both the low and high personalities from across the country visit the wonder boy for spiritual healing and deliverance.<br /> <br />  The father of the wonder baby now smiles to the bank daily. An average of 500 miracle seekers visit the two-month-old baby. A bunch of leaves was said to have preceded his birth at around 3 am at Comprehensive Health Centre in Akure.<br /> <br /> His father claimed that ”Daddy Samuel was born with a bunch of leaves bonded by a strand of hair which possesses special healing powers. He told newsmen that he recently relocated his family to Akure from Lagos State when fending for his family became difficult. Olusola said that they tried all they could to abort the pregnancy because he could not cater for his wife and the three boys they had before the coming of the wonder baby. Gave birth to a bunch of leaves A visit to Comprehensive Health Centre in Oke ljebu area, Akure, confirmed the position of the baby’s parents. The nurses, who took delivery of the wonder baby confirmed that the mother first gave birth to a bunch of leaves at 3 am while the baby came four hours later.<br /> <br /> Speaking with newsmen in confidence, one of the nurses said they were scared when the bunch of leaves was delivered by the woman and that they prayed rebuking the evil spirit that had entered into her womb. According to the nurse, ” We had to call the matron to witness the strange delivery because it was unusual.”<br /> <br /> Confirming this to newsmen, the matron Mrs. Joan Mohaye said that she was woken up from her sleep, adding that by the time she rushed to the hospital she saw the bunch of leaves. Mohaye said while the nurses and other patients were wondering and beholding the strange object, the woman again fell into labour after which the baby arrived four hours later. She said the baby didn’t talk while at the hospital.<br /> <br /> It was gathered that the parents of the wonder boy have purchased a piece of land to erect a building, where they would relocate to. Motorcycle operators are also making money on a daily basis as they have hiked their fares from N50 per drop to N200 to the healing centre. The father of the wonder boy said: “My wife gave birth on August 28, 2017, after a bunch of leaves came out of her womb and we were amazed after he began to talk, charging us to proclaim his coming to the world. ”<br /> <br /> The mysterious powers of Samuel, born at a Comprehensive Health Centre in Akure, became noticeable when a bunch of leaves was said to have preceded his coming out of the mother’s womb. “Two weeks later, Samuel shocked us and his three older brothers when he instructed us to proclaim his coming to the world.” The miracle seekers would be asked to drink the water from one of the sachets and use the other to take their bath.<br /> <br />  The visitor would in anticipation be asked to appreciate the wonder boy with cash. A source hinted that visitors were advised not to give less than N3000 to the wonder baby. The amount of moeny given to the baby,depended on the status of the visitor and the magnitude of the problem the visitor has.<br /> <br /> It was however, gathered that majority of baby Samuel’s clients are women, who are seeking future partners. Those searching for the fruits of the womb, those with issues in their marriages, and those with spiritual attacks, among others, visit the baby.<br /> <br /> Speaking with newsmen, Sikiratu expressed delight over the birth of the boy, saying that nurses were initially scared when she first gave birth to leaves before the real baby came out. She said, “ Two weeks after he was born, I went to the next street when one of my other children suddenly came to call me that the baby was uttering some words and l rushed back home and heard the baby speaking. I was shocked when he directed that we should announce his glory to the whole world.<br /> <br /> One of the workers in the miracle centre told newsmen that ” the service rendered was initially free but we started collecting consultation fee of N500 per head with a view to reducing the crowd yet the people kept coming from far and near.” He said all clients who are not fewer than 500 per day are treated equally and fairly without any preferential treatment irrespective of status or position.<br /> <br /> <b>Testimonies of the healing power</b><br /> <br /> Meanwhile, testimonies of the healing power of the wonder baby abound. A woman, Mrs. Abigail said her husband was healed of stroke as she poured the sachet of ‘anointed water’ on him. “ When I came here I was given the sachet water and I took it to my husband who had stroke. I poured the water on him when I got home and he felt very much better. There was no need to doubt it, it is real,” she added. A resident of the town, who identified himself as Leke said he had been to the so-called healing house, describing the development as a scam.<br /> <br /> He told newsmen thus:“I was there but did not believe in the story. This is Nigeria, where people look for money anyhow. Nobody, except the mother of the baby, heard he allegedly said.” In his reaction, Deji of Akure, Oba Aladelusi Aladetoyinbo said he was aware of the baby’s birth, adding that he should be protected. His Chief Press Secretary, Michael Adeyeye said:“<br /> <br /> The palace also heard the story like every other person in the town and Kabiyesi is not trying to confirm or debunk their story. The palace was not involved and we don’t know the actual story. “ But if the story is true, what kabiyesi is saying is that there is a need to protect the child, but as we speak, nobody has brought the baby to the palace”<br /> <b><br /></b><b>Religious leaders, however, expressed divergent views.</b><br /> <br />  The state chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, called for caution over the issue. It’s Director of Planning, Research, and Strategy in the South West, Nelson Fado was quoted as saying thus: ” The miracle baby as being referred to may be genuine to a certain extent. But let us wait and see. The parents should take proper care of the baby and stop making money with him. Natural miracles are not sold or paid for because the salvation of Christ is free. ”<br /> <br /> The baby is not God or Jesus Christ or angel, hence he must not be turned to God. God’s miracle can occur without an artificial intermediary. ” Remember there used to be Jesu Oyinbo and Agege. ”'<br /> <br />  Believers in Christ should be watchful, careful and know who they believe. CAN from time immemorial did warn Christians to hold on to their faith by not compromising it.” However, the parents of the wonder boy confirmed receiving gifts from various men of God ( Islamic and Christian clerics) A Pastor of Celestial Church of Christ CCC, Shalom Parish, lkorodu, Lagos, Gabriel Oluwadamilare had described the baby as a true messenger of God.<br /> <br /> Oluwadamilare said that circumstances that surrounded the birth of newborn baby also happened in the Bible. He said:“I actually came to see the glory and I have no doubt about it. My stand is that what happened is true because nothing is impossible for God to do.<br /> <br /> “I have come to seek a spiritual solution in respect of a lady who has visited several hospitals in Lagos over bone problems in the last five years. “There is nothing fetish about the boy coming to the world with a bunch of leaves, it is just a sign from God.”. The question being asked by observers is: why has the baby not spoken again to the hearing of other people except his parents?

The ranking measured the ability of the Police to address Internal Security Issues in 127 Countries in four key areas of Capacity, Process, Legitimacy and Outcomes.<br /> <br /> The report, according to a report by Cable, showed that Nigeria under-performed on all four domains, with a score of 0.255.<br /> <br /> “There are 219 police officers for every 100,000 Nigerians, well below both the Index median of 300, and the sub-Saharan Africa region average of 268,” the report read.<br /> <br /> “This limits the capacity of the force to measure up to its law and order mandate. In terms of process, legitimacy and outcomes, the story is not different which makes the force fall short of the required standard.<br /> <br /> “High levels of political terror have been an issue for Nigeria since 1993, with the country scoring a 4 on the Political Terror Scale every year since then.”<br /> <br /> According to the report, the top 10 performing African countries are Botswana which ranked highest at 47, followed by Rwanda which took the 50th position.<br /> <br /> Others are Algeria, Senegal, Tunisia, Egypt, Burkina Faso, Ghana, South Africa and Mali, in that order.<br /> <br /> The 10 under-performing African countries are Madagascar (111th), Zambia (112th), Ethiopia (115th), Sierra Leone (117th), Cameroon (120th), Mozambique (122nd), Uganda (124th), Kenya (125th), Democratic Republic of Congo (126th).<br /> <br /> But a statement today, the NPF trashed the assessment as unempirical and instead proclaimed itself one of the best in the world.<br /> <br /> “Nigeria Police Force is the best in UN Peace Keeping Operations, Best in Africa, One of the Best in the World. The Force rejects the report as unempirical and absolute falsehood, should be disregarded and discountenanced”, said the police in a preface to their statement of objection to the report .<br /> <br /> “The Nigeria Police Force after a careful study of the report and the news items emanating from it, wishes to state categorically that the report is entirely misleading, a clear misrepresentation of facts and figures and essentially unempirical, considering the area of coverage of the report which was said to have been carried out in 2016 by the above mentioned associations.<br /> <br /> “The report did not take into cognisance the significant improvement in the areas of Capacity Building, Training and Re-training of the entire personnel of the Force as provided for by the current Federal Government of Nigeria and other Foreign and Local NGOs which has greatly improved the efficiency and service delivery of the personnel of the Force throughout the country.<br /> <br /> “It is pertinent to state that the instruments used to evaluate the performance of the Force vis-à-vis that of other countries is absolutely incorrect and grossly inadequate and therefore a plain distortion of facts and figures. The strength of about Three Hundred and Seventy Thousand (370,000) Police Personnel in the country stands at around One (1) Policeman to less than Six Hundred (600) people in a population estimates of One Hundred and Eighty Millions (180,000,000) Nigerians.<br /> <br /> “It is equally significant to state that the current recruitment of additional Ten Thousand (10,000) Police Personnel into the Force by the Federal Government of Nigeria and the request by the Inspector General of Police to Government for approval of the recruitment of Thirty One Thousand (31,000) Police Personnel yearly for a period of 5years will definitely increase the strength of the Force to meet up with the UN ratio of One (1) Policeman to Four Hundred (400) citizens.<br /> <br /> “Furthermore, in the UN Peace Keeping System, the Nigeria Police Force is rated as the best in UN Peace keeping operations in the world. This clearly shows that the Nigeria Police Force is not and cannot be the worst in the world under any known scientific yardstick or measuring instrument.<br /> <br /> “Currently, the Nigeria Police Force is one of the only two African Delegates representing the whole of Africa continent on the executive committee of Interpol, a position the Force attained based on high performance, merit and sustained good track records.<br /> <br /> “For avoidance of doubt, since the inception of the present Police administration in July 2016, the Inspector General of Police, IGP Ibrahim K. Idris NPM, mni, he has introduced and implemented diverse internal reforms aimed at improving capacity building and efficient service delivery of the personnel of the Force, which is yielding positive results in the standardisation of the capability of the Nigeria Police Force to deal with violent crimes and terrorism throughout the country. The establishment and take-off of a world class Terrorism Investigation Bureau for the Force with state-of-the-art equipment and technical support from foreign partners has greatly improved the capacity of the Force to deal with threats posed to internal security in this regard.<br /> <br /> “However, it must be pointed out that the Nigeria Police Force sees the report as a clear demonstration of mischief, ignorance and calculated attempt to distort the feat being recorded by the Force in ensuring adequate security and safety of Nigerians. Nowhere in the report were references made to either the improved capacity or achievements recorded by the Nigeria Police Force across the country in the recent time, the Force therefore implores all Nigerians and international community to disregard the report as unfounded and misleading”.

He said Ngwuta equally admitted under interrogation that he was into foreign exchange business that involved buying and selling of currencies with “mallams”.<br /> <br /> According to the witness, Justice Ngwuta told investigators that grilled him that he usually bought dollars when the rates are low and sold at a higher rate, adding that part of the foreign currencies discovered in his home were accumulated annual medical allowances that were paid to him in foreign currency by the Supreme Court. Ndakpoto said the defendant told him that since he hardly fell sick, he had no reason to spend the money, hence his decision to channel it into his business.<br /> <br /> The witness said the defendant explained that he usually purchased the palm oil and rice from the open market and subsequently sold them at a favourable price. He said when the defendant was asked to name his partners and customers, as well as where his warehouse was situated, he told the DSS that he did not transact with a particular customer, saying he does not also have a partner or warehouse.<br /> <br /> Justice Ngwuta is answering to a 13-count charge that borders on money laundering charge, age falsification, as well as his alleged possession of multiple international passports. He was docked before the high court on November 21, 2016, and later granted bail to the tune of N100million.<br /> <br /> <br /> FG told the court that shortly after Ngwuta was granted administrative bail by the DSS, he quickly called the PW-1, one Mr. Linus Nwamba, to help him conceal some of the evidence against him, including N27million he hid in his bathroom at Abakaliki in Ebonyi State.<br /> <br /> The prosecution told the court that the defendant equally removed three exotic cars from his residence in his home town. It told the court that Nwamba initially hid the bag that contained the N27m cash at the residence of one Abraham Ezeani in Abakaliki, saying the Money “was subsequently dissipated by Mr Nwamba on the direct instructions of the defendant/applicant”. It listed the three exotic cars that Ngwuta allegedly attempted to conceal, as a Hummer Jeep Sports Utility Vehicle, Wrangler Jeep Sports Utility Vehicle and a BMW 5 Series Sedan Vehicle which it said was quickly moved by the defendant to Clevero Hotel in Abakaliki, Ebonyi State.<br /> <br /> FG said the properties which it maintained were derived from the proceeds of an unlawful act, were all recovered by investigators on November 11, following Nwamba’s arrest, weeks after the defendant had been released on administrative bail. FG said the DSS, at the end of the search operation conducted at Ngwuta’s official residence, recovered several sums of cash, including the sum of Thirty-Five Million, Three Hundred and Fifty-Eight Thousand Naira (NGN35,358,000.00); Three Hundred and Nineteen Thousand, Five Hundred and Ninety- Six United States Dollars ($319,596.00).<br /> <br />  As well as Twenty-Five Thousand Nine Hundred and Fifteen Pounds Sterling (GBP 25,915) and Two Hundred and Eighty Euros (EURO 280.00). It will be recalled that Justice Ngwuta was among eight superior court judges that were arrested after a sting operation the DSS conducted in October, last year. Meantime, led in evidence by the prosecution counsel, Mrs. Olufemi Fatunde, yesterday, Ndakpoto said he was on the team that interrogated Justice Ngwuta on October 9, 2016. He gave the name of his colleague on the team as Mike.<br /> <br /> The witness told the court that Justice Ngwuta was in possession of multiple international passports, which he allegedly used interchangeably to travel abroad, especially to Seychelles and the United Arab Emirate, UAE.<br /> <br /> Neverthless, the DSS operative said barely 24 hours after the defendant made his first statement and was granted administrative bail, he came back to change his earlier claim about the souce of funds that were recovered in his home. He said the judge, in his second statement, denied knowledge of the money and insisted that although he owned the bags in which the monies were found, he did not know how the DSS operatives that searched his house came about the money. The witness said everything the defendant told the DSS in the course of his interrogation were all recorded and could be played at anytime to authenticate his testimony. He said documents, including those relating to accounts with Zenith Bank and Union Bank, were also recovered from the defendant’s home.<br /> <br /> The witness said: “When I asked him which bank account he operates, he said he only banks with union bank. “On that day, there was no written statement by the defendant that I witnessed, that was on Sunday, October 9, 2016.<br /> <br />  “Before he came to our office, there was news everywhere about the arrest of judges and that the defendant travelled to the UAE witj some others to collect bribe to influence the case he was handling. “When he came back the second day, I went to meet him at the waiting area. When we were coming down to my office, the defendant asked that we did not ask him about the money they said they found in his house.<br /> <br /> “My colleague, Mike reminded him that he had explained the previous day that the money were from his accumulated allowance, trades in foreign exchange and farm produce”. He said at that point, the defendant said he was feeling feverish the day his home was raided and could not follow the operatives that searched and allegedly found the bags of cash. “He also said that he does not know how they came about the money. We asked him who owns the bags that contain the money, he said the bags were his own but the money inside were not his own”. The witness said on the third day, October 11, following a request by his team, Justice Ngwuta brought multiple passports, including diplomatic and standard Nigerian international passports.<br /> <br /> He said when they asked the judge if he had ever visited the UAE, he denied ever travelling there. “We then told him that there was prove from entries in his passports that he travelled to UAE. “It was at that point that he said he needed his lawyer to be present before he could say anything else. “We put it to him that he presented the passport he claimed was lost to the UAE Immigration Authority, but while leaving Nigeria, he presented a different passport. “In the passport, his entry into UAE was stamped on October 9, 2015, and his exit was also stamped the same day.<br /> <br /> But that said passport was the same the defendant saif he lost. The passport was not cancelled. “We went further and showed him the recent passport he colleceted after he declared the old one lost (Exhibit 13c, which was issued to the defendant on September 17, 2014), On that new one, it showed that the defendant entered Seychelles on the 4th of October 2015 and his exit was on the 8th”, the witness added. Meantime, trial Justice John Tsoho adjourned further hearing in the matter till January 10.
