Actress and singer, Angela Okorie, has said she does not intend to get married again.
Recall that some months ago, there had been rumours that she was engaged to a young lover. But it turned out that the pictures that went viral then were from a music video for her new song, ‘Baby Chu Chu’. In an Instagram Live session with her fans, the mother of one stated that she was scared of entering into matrimony with another man. 
She said, “I’m so scared about marriage right now because I have once tasted it and I know what it feels like. 
I do not want to get myself into any marriage, then get divorced again. Nobody plans to get married and divorce their spouse but issues happen― lies and things one is not ready for. Nobody would want to leave a peaceful marriage but once it is not peaceful, one wouldn’t want to stay there. I wouldn’t advise anyone to be in an abusive marriage or a marriage that is not helping one’s mental status.”

Contrary to what some may have thought, the actress of Ebonyi State origins maintained that her first marriage was not abusive. She said, “The man I got married to was not a bad man. He was a very nice guy with a good heart. But, he had his own problems that he needed to fix. 
It is not only about being nice; there are many things that come with marriage. 
One just has to marry one’s best friend; somebody one could tell everything. I don’t know how to hide things and I would not want to get married to a man I wouldn’t be able to talk to; or a man that would criticise my dressing. He should understand that I am a celebrity and that the person he is married to is outspoken. The best decision is for anybody to get married to a spouse who loves one, one’s kid, one’s job, and is always praying for one to get to the next level. 
Some people could be very possessive. They could tell you their family is a royal one and because of that, they limit the types of role you could play in movies. You cannot marry a career woman and keep her in the house. 
If you want to get married to someone, you should love what they do and invest in it. If you invest in your spouse and show them a lot of love, I don’t think any woman would cheat on such a man, except the stupid ones. I never cheated on my man though I meet different men and they ask me out every time.”

Health Minister of the northern Indian state of Haryana Anil Vij, who was given a trial dose of a Coronavirus (COVID-19) vaccine in November, tested positive for the virus on Saturday.
Vij, who is the holding charge of several ministries including health, said on Twitter that he had contracted the virus.
He urged people, who came in contact with him in recent days to undergo a test.
“I have been tested COVID-19 positive.

“I am admitted in civil hospital Ambala cantonment.
“All those who have come in close contact to me are advised to get themselves tested for COVID-19,” Vij wrote.
In November, 67-year-old Vij was administered a trial dose of a COVID-19 vaccine as part of the third phase trial of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin.
He had earlier announced that he would be the first volunteer in his state for the vaccine.
Haryana state has so far reported 240,841 cases of COVID-19 and 2,539 related deaths.
On Saturday morning, the federal health ministry said the number of COVID-19 cases in the country has reached 9,608,211 and the death toll has risen to 139,700.
India is in the grip of the ongoing COVID-19 and globally it is the second worst-hit country by the pandemic.

‌First Lady Aisha Buhari has called for strategic partnership to end the raising cases of Gender-Based Violence against women and girls in Nigeria.
She made the call on Friday at a Seminar to mark the 2020 United Nations Women’s Campaign for 16 days of activism against GBV in Abuja.
The event was organised by the Secretariat of the African First Lady’s Peace Mission in collaboration with the office of Nigeria’s First Lady.
The theme of the seminar was, ‘The First Lady as leader and mobiliser of women and youths for peace building, conflict resolution and resilience in the post COVID-19 era’.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Women Affairs and Administration, Hajo Sani, Aisha Buhari charged the wives of governors to expedite action to protect the rights of women and girls in their states.
”As a mother, I feel a sense of duty to make my contribution by sharing ideas with First Ladies in the states who will eventually cascade the messages of the seminar to women and youth in their respective states.
“Many young people are now at risk of being left behind in education, economic opportunities, health and wellbeing during a crucial stage of their life.
”This is evidenced in the anger, protests, and demonstrations happening around the world as well as the violence, to which most victims are women and the youths themselves,” she said.
She expressed the need to engage the women and youths for greater opportunities and peace building.
“We, therefore, have a duty to mobilise women and youths for peace building, community conflict resolution and resilience.
“Globally, the COVID-19 pandemic and its social and economic impact have created a global crisis unparalleled in history.
“Women and young people are particularly vulnerable to the disruptions the pandemic has caused,” she said.
On her part, the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, urged stakeholders to join hands with the ministry to ensure sustainable progress on the programme of the girl-child education.

The Nigeria Union of Pensioners has kicked against the plan to borrow from the pension fund, noting that the government has no authority over the money and should, therefore, not tamper with it.
This is as the Nigeria Governors’ Forum has endorsed two proposals to borrow a total of N17tn from two sources for infrastructural development.
The governors took the decision after receiving a briefing from the Kaduna State Governor, Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, who is the Chairman of the National Economic Council Ad Hoc Committee on Leveraging Portion of Accumulated Pension Funds for Investment in the Nigeria Sovereign Investment Authority.
El-Rufai briefed the forum on a proposed National Infrastructure Investment Fund, saying a total sum of N2tn at nine per cent interest could be accessed through the NSIA.

This was contained in a communiqué of the 22nd teleconference meeting of the NGF, signed by its Chairman and Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi.
The communiqué was made available to journalists in Abuja on Friday.
 Early in the year, the NEC had expressed its intention to borrow N2tn from the growing funds under the Contributory Pension Scheme.
Figures obtained from the National Pension Commission, on Friday, showed that the total funds under the scheme stood at N11.34tn as of the end of August, out of which N7.5tn had been invested in Federal Government securities.
The Pension Reform Act, however, stipulates that the funds should not be released by the Pension Fund Custodians to the Pension Fund Administrators to be administered as loans or put in other investments, except it is in line with the investment guidelines of the National Pension Commission.
According to the communiqué, Fayemi noted that the Governor of the Central Bank, Godwin Emefiele, had a similar proposal to access N15tn for national infrastructure funding through InfraCredit at a lower interest rate of five per cent.
The governors, therefore, agreed to endorse the two proposals that canvassed for infrastructure development by both the el-Rufai committee and the CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele, noting that both were not mutually exclusive and could be adopted simultaneously with one streaming into the other.
Following last week’s killing of over 43 rice farmers by terrorists in Borno State by Boko Haram terrorists, the governors, who earlier sent a delegation to commiserate with their Borno State counterpart, Babagana Zulum, resolved to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari to find a lasting solution to the deteriorating security situation.
The NGF also discussed the #EndSARS protests and the judicial commissions of enquiry instituted by governors across the 36 states of the federation to probe the petitions of brutality by law enforcement agents, noting that progress was being made.
They also resolved to “support the necessary reforms that will result in a police force that works for all.
“As an immediate to medium-term measure, members agreed to pay close attention to the conduct of police officers across the country in order to get them and other internal security operatives fully back to work as they have not been functioning to full capacity since the #EndSARS protests with the attendant security exposure to the safety of lives and properties of the ordinary citizens.”
On the contentious issue of stamp duty collections, the governors insisted that it was the function of the states and not the Federal Government to collect it.
The communiqué also read in part, “Following Mr President’s approval of the request of governors for a change in the financing model of the Universal Basic Education from the current counterpart funding requirement to a programme for result performance-driven model, the NGF secretariat was following up with the Office of the Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice to complete work on drafting the Executive Order to guide Mr President’s directive.”
Meanwhile, based on the NGF’s endorsement of the two proposals to borrow a total of N17tn from two sources for infrastructural development, the Nigeria Union of Pensioners has kicked against the plan to borrow from the pension fund, noting that the government has no authority over the money and should, therefore, not tamper with it.
The NUP Head of Information, Mr Bunmi Ogunkolade, frowned on the purported endorsement of plans to borrow from the pension fund by the NGF, noting that many of the governors did not remit their workers’ pensions to the fund.
He stated, “The governors have no authority over the money, it doesn’t belong to them; so, how can they approve a proposal to borrow part of the workers’ pensions, which many of them (governors) are not contributing to?
“Do you know that many of the states are not paying the contributory pension? It shows that they don’t believe in it, so why should they borrow from it? It is not in their power to determine what would happen to that money. No! Their forum is not even recognised by law.”
Ogunkolade said the NUP had previously cautioned the Federal Government against tinkering with the fund, adding that there would be no one to be held responsible if they failed to repay the loan.
He stated, “We earlier issued a statement warning the Federal Government not to tamper with the pension fund when they mooted that idea. It is the workers’ money; people that would become pensioners tomorrow.
“Nobody should tamper with that money; they should look elsewhere for loans to build infrastructure. By the time the people in service would retire in four, five years, the current government would not be there and you won’t know who to hold responsible.” 
“They would be blaming the past government and this would not resolve the issue. The government should not touch that money and the governors have no right to give the approval to borrow from the fund,” the union insisted.
Also, the immediate past Chairman of the Trade Union Congress in Oyo State, Andrew Emelieze, described the plan by the Federal Government to borrow N2tn from pension contributions as criminal.
Emelieze, who is the current National Coordinator, All Workers Convergence, in an interview with one of our correspondents, on Friday, said workers would resist the attempt if the Federal Government refused to stop, saying the pension fund should be left with the pension fund administrators to manage it.
He said, “Borrowing from the pension fund by the government is not in the interest of workers. While should they borrow from that money? The workers that contributed to the fund were not allowed to borrow from it.
“It is not meant for the government to dip their hands into. They are trying to take advantage of the workers because we have a very weak labour movement.
“However, we say no to it and the government must stop it. If they refuse to stop and go ahead with it, then we will resist it. It will force us to confront them with an unprecedented protest. It is criminal and we say it must stop now.
“We are calling on the NLC [Nigeria Labour Congress] and the TUC to take decisive action against the government. They should look elsewhere to borrow money and leave our money for us.”
Similarly, the Rivers State chapter of the NUP also kicked against the proposed plan to borrow from the pension fund.
The state NUP Chairman, Collins Nwankwo, asked, “If that money is tampered with, what if they don’t pay back? What will happen? It is money meant for service, a very crucial service to pensioners.”
However, the Ogun State NLC Chairman, Emmanuel Bankole, said some workers were not averse to the borrowing of the pension funds but only concerned about its use.
He said, “It is not borrowing that is the problem; it is the workers’ money. We are not averse to borrowing. We will only need to ensure that the fund is used for the purpose it was taken. It is important the money is judiciously used.
“Our concern is that the money should be used for whatever it is taken for.”
Bankole, however, said interest must be paid on the fund if borrowed.

The APC National Leader spoke at the wedding Fatiha of the daughter of an Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhammad Bin-Uthman in Kano, yesterday.
He maintained that they will not allow those he described as “dividers” to achieve their selfish interest.

Tinubu also called for peace and unity among Nigerians so dividers can further fail in the bid to achieve their aim.
“Dividers will not stop in doing things they think can divide us, but the truth of the matter is, we will not allow them to achieve their selfish interest,” Tinubu said.

Former President, Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, has said that it is too early to talk about returning to office in 2023.
Speculations have been flying about, linking the Bayelsa-born politician to a possible return to the office he left 5 years ago.
But the speculations may have to continue as Jonathan could not give a definite position on his rumoured ambition.
Speaking briefly with reporters on Friday after attending an event organised by the Commonwealth Community Choir in Abuja, the nation’s capital, Jonathan was asked if he would be joining the presidential race for 2023, and he said, “It is too early to talk about that.”

President Muhammadu Buhari defeated the then incumbent President, Jonathan in 2015.
Recall that some governors of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and chieftains of the party had recently visited Jonathan, as pressure continues to mount on him to contest the 2023 election.
They visited Jonathan at his Abuja residence to felicitate with him on his 63rd birthday anniversary.

The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) on Friday condemned the murder of Borno rice farmers in the strongest terms.
More than 40 Zabarmari indigenes were slaughtered by Boko Haram last Saturday and buried on Sunday.
CAN President, Samson Ayokunle, in a statement by his spokesman, Bayo Oladeji, told President Muhammadu Buhari and security agencies to crush the terrorists before they murder more Nigerians.
The body lamented that criminals now operate with impunity all over the country, especially in the North-East and North-West regions.

CAN said as usual, the number of victims of the Koshebe attack remains disputed by the federal government.
“To us at CAN, 43 casualties was not only frightening but inexcusable by those who should have prevented it. The massacre was wicked and completely satanic.
“A situation where farmers are being taxed by the terrorists and bandits before they are allowed to work on their farms is unprecedented and it must be stopped by the government before it is too late.)
“We are in a recession in the country, yet, criminals are still preventing farmers from going to farm to harvest. We are not aware of any country where similar lawlessness is taking place without being adequately checked.”
CAN urged the government to think out of the box and take adequate steps to bring the terrorists to their knees.
Noting that mass burials without a full scale war is unprecedented and unacceptable, the Christian leadership regretted that killings and kidnapping had become the norm in Nigeria.
“Why should we be watching for a nation well situated by God to become a land that is swallowing its inhabitants?”, the statement quipped.
The body added that continuous sympathy through press statements and condolence visit after many souls have been wasted is no longer acceptable.
CAN assured that it would continue to advise the authorities. It prayed that God will comfort the relatives of the deceased.

Bauchi State Governor, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, has warned officers and men of the state command of the Federal Roads Safety Corps (FRSC) to desist from terrorising and extorting motorists in the state.
The governor gave the warning on Thursday in Bauchi.
According to him, the illegal activities of the Road Safety personnel have become a major impediment to free flow of traffic in the state, adding that motorists and other road users have been complaining about the activities of the personnel.
He, therefore, declared that his administration would no longer tolerate the excesses.

“At this point, I want to call on other law enforcing agencies like the Federal Road Safety Corps. I have noticed that sometimes, they stay within the town and they will just be collecting money from the drivers and forcing them into unnecessary problems. I will not allow that,” he declared.
Mohammed informed that the state government had created Bauchi State Roads Transport Agency, the idea of which he said was copied from Kano State.
“We have created BAROTA, which is Bauchi State Roads Transport Agency. We have borrowed from Kano State. We are going to build so many parks because our road corridors have become parks. Our road corridors have become markets, we cannot afford that even for our own conveniences.
“Of course, I can see and reason with the transport union and transport users. Sometimes, they are subjected to a lot of problems and challenges ranging from people that are trying to make some enforcements.”
He then called on BAROTA to apply human face in its operations in order to ensure that no one is subjected to unnecessary pains, calling on the agency to start immediately with sensitisation of road transport union members and other road users.

The military has come up with further claims regarding the killing of rice farmers in Borno State.
Addressing reporters in a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, military Spokesman, Major General John Enenche, suggested that the farmers were interacting with the insurgents before they were killed.
According to the military, its sources informed it that the farmers, about 70 of them, were invited by the insurgents the day they were murdered.
“I want to say that the armed forces we have now and security agents is normally determined by the people,” he said.

“It’s not in our powers or to say yes or no. It is the kind of force package …each time I brief, talk to you here, I say Air Force will make an enhanced force package of fighter jets, helicopter gun-shooter then take out opposition.
“The same thing with the army; the same thing with the navy. So, for every government it is what you want. It is not for the military to begin to join issues or begin to contest.
“From the testimony we got from a credible source who escaped, part of them said that they (Boko Haram) called about 70 of them. They invited them to come.
“And when they were going they thought it was the usual interaction they used to have. That brings a lot of things. That brings a lot of things for all of us to learn.
“That means they were having interactions with them [Boko Haram] under some arrangements or whatever subject to further confirmations. We are still working on that.”
Recall that Abubakar Shekau, leader of the dreaded Boko Haram sect on Tuesday, revealed that the group killed 78 farmers and not 43.
Shekau’s claim of 78 is slightly above the figure (70) the military is now projecting.
Also, against the claim of invitation and interactions by the military, Boko Haram was said to have attacked the farmers while they were harvesting rice at Zabarmari community in Jere Local Government Area of Borno State.
Over 40 deaths were earlier reported and Governor Babagana Zulum told journalists that 43 farmers were killed.
However, in the video released on Tuesday, where Shekau boasted about the killing, the terrorist leader said they killed “at least 78 farmers”.
