If you win through the proper will of the electorate , you will earn their respect.<br /> <br /> <br /> “Politicians should strive to ensure that they win elections through free, fair and credible means, ” he said.<br /> <br /> <br /> Meanwhile , collation of results in the state ’ s supplementary governorship poll is ongoing in most polling units.<br /> <br /> <br /> The supplementary poll was conducted in 22 out of the 23 Local Government Areas of the state.<br /> <br /> <br /> The supplementary election was also held in nine LGs for the state House of Assembly poll.<br /> <br /> <br /> The poll was generally peaceful across the state, however, complaints of vote buying by party agents could not be substantiated.

The wards are Igu ward and Kawu ward.<br /> <br /> <br /> But speaking on the development, the Acting Chairman, PDP Bwari Area Council, Mr Bilyaminu Sani called on the security agencies and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Mohammed Bello to ensure that the election is conducted under a free and transparent atmosphere.<br /> <br /> <br /> In a statement personally signed by him and made available to our correspondent, he alleged that there were plans by some supporters of the APC to cause mayhem during the polls.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said, “It is no longer news that the PDP won the chairmanship election in Bwari conducted on March 9, 2019, with a wide margin and the APC and their agents caused violence at Kawu Ward.<br /> <br /> <br /> “They tore already collated results sheets, maim and attacked innocent corps members which subsequently led to the cancellation of elections in Kawu Ward.<br /> <br /> <br /> “We are drawing the attention of the FCT Minister who has shown his neutrality throughout the election, our traditional and spiritual fathers, the Inspector General of Police, the FCT Commissioner of Police and the Area Commander under Bwari Area Council to this.”<br /> <br /> <br /> Reacting to the allegations, the Chairman, APC Bwari told our correspondent in a telephone interview that the party had no such plans to rig the council rerun election.<br /> <br /> <br /> He said, “We had a meeting with INEC on Tuesday and we are ready for the election. We will not engage in acts of violence because we are ready to accept to the outcome of the election whether it favours us or not.”

The margin between the parties stood at 26,655 votes, in favour of the PDP.<br /> <b><u><br /></u></b><b><u>PLATEAU STATE</u></b><br /> <br /> In Plateau State, INEC is holding the supplementary election in 46 polling units across nine local government areas of the state.<br /> <br /> In the March 9 election, the incumbent governor and candidate of the APC in the election, Simon Lalong, scored 583,255 votes while PDP’s Jeremiah Useni polled 538,326 votes.<br /> <br /> According to INEC, the nine local government areas where the rerun would hold are Barki Ladi, Bassa, Bokkos, Jos North, Kanam, Langtang South, Mangu, Pankshin and Shendam.<br /> <br /> INEC’s Head of Voter Education in the state, Mr Osaretin Imahiyereobo, said a total of 48,828 registered voters were expected to participate in the election.<br /> <br /> Imahiyereobo said, “This is a policy adopted by the commission to achieve a maximum degree of neutrality and transparency in the electoral process. As a commission, we have put everything in place to ensure a hitch-free election.”<br /> <br /> <b><u>BENUE STATE</u></b><br /> <br /> In Benue State, a total of 121,299 registered voters are expected to vote in 204 polling units across 22 local government areas.<br /> <br /> INEC’s Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Dr Nentawe Goshw, said, “Out of 121,299 registered voters, only 109,733 have collected their PVC which means only 109,733 are eligible to vote on the election day. I will not have more than 109,733 ballot papers on election date. That is the implication.”<br /> <br /> The Benue State INEC Collation Officer, Prof Sabastine Maimaiko, had declared the March 9 governorship election inconclusive, saying the PDP candidate, Mr. Samuel Ortom, who is the incumbent governor, polled 410,570 votes while the APC governorship candidate, Mr. Emmanuel Jime, scored 329,022 votes. Thus, the PDP candidate is leading the APC candidate with 81,554 votes.<br /> <br /> <b><u>BAUCHI STATE</u></b><br /> <br /> In Bauchi State, the governorship rerun would hold in 36 polling units scattered across 15 of the 20 local government areas of the state.<br /> <br /> The INEC Resident Electoral Commissioner in the state, Ibrahim Abdullahi, said a total of 22,759 registered voters were expected to participate in the exercise.<br /> <br /> The PDP governorship candidate, Bala Mohammed, had polled 469,512 votes to lead his closest rival, incumbent Governor Mohammed Abubabakar of the APC, who scored 465,453 votes in the March 9 election.<br /> <br /> <b><u>SOKOTO STATE</u></b><br /> <br /> In Sokoto State, 75,403 voters are expected to vote during the governorship rerun holding in 136 polling units across 22 local government areas of the state.<br /> <br /> Governor Aminu Tambuwal of the PDP, who scored 489,558 votes is leading APC’s Ahmed Aliyu, who scored 486,145 votes. Post-election matters belong to election tribunal”.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, some political parties have asked the Independent National Electoral Commission to withhold the Certificate of Return of the Imo State governor-elect, Emeka Ihedioha.<br /> <br /> However, some others have vowed to support him at the state Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal.<br /> <br /> At a press conference in Owerri, the state capital, on Thursday, the governorship candidate of Masses Movement of Nigeria, Jerry Iheanacho, who spoke for the aggrieved parties, said that they had individually decided to challenge the outcome of the governorship election at the election petitions tribunal.<br /> <br /> This is coming just 24 hours after 10 governorship candidates in the state asked other aggrieved political parties not to challenge the outcome of the governorship election at the tribunal.<br /> <br /> Iheanacho said that the declaration of Ihedioha as the winner of the election was “a rape on our constitution”.<br /> <br /> The governorship candidate said, “It is not about Ihedioha but it is about what the constitution says. width="400" /></div> <b><br /></b><b>There was massive jubilation across Osun State on Friday as the Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in Abuja nullified the victory of Adegboyega Oyetola as the governor of the state.</b><br /> <br /> The three-man tribunal in a split judgment of two-to-one declared the Peoples Democratic Party’s Ademola Adeleke as the winner of the September 2018 election.<br /> <br /> The tribunal, through its majority judgment, nullified the certificate of return issued to Oyetola of the All Progressives Congress by the Independent National Electoral Commission and ordered the commission to issue a fresh one to Adeleke.<br /> <br /> The tribunal, which had earlier dismissed the preliminary objection filed against the PDP and Adeleke’s petition, stated that the petitioners failed to prove the allegations of over-voting in many polling units during the September 22, 2018 election.<br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> It also held that the petitioners’ complaints of corrupt practices and violent disruption of voting and disenfranchisement of voters during the September 27, 2018 run-off were not proved.<br /> <br /> But the tribunal, in its majority judgment, went ahead to uphold the petition on the grounds that the petitioners successfully proved that there was substantial non-compliance with the Electoral Act 2010 in the conduct of the September 27, 2018 run-off in 17 polling units.<br /> <br /> Dissenting, the Chairman, Justice Ibrahim Sirajo, in his minority judgment dismissed the petition filed by Adeleke and the PDP for lacking in merit.<br /> <br /> But Justice Peter Obiora, who read the lead majority judgment, and Justice Ayinla Gbolagunte, who agreed, upheld the petition.<br /> <br /> The judgment lasted for over five hours.<br /> <br /> The majority judgment nullified the September 27, 2018 supplementary election after declaring it illegal and declared Adeleke the winner of the poll based on the outcome of the September 22, 2018 election.<br /> <br /> In arriving at what it considered the valid results of the election, the tribunal deducted the votes polled by both the APC and the PDP in the 17 polling units across many local government areas where it held that the election was conducted in “substantial non-compliance” with the Electoral Act.<br /> <br /> It deducted 2,029 “afflicted votes” polled by the APC in the 17 polling units from the party’s total votes in the September 22, 2018 election, and deducted 1,246 from PDP’s votes.<br /> <br /> According to the tribunal, the PDP won the election with 254,698 votes, while the APC placed second with 253,452 votes.<br /> <br /> Justice Obiora added that the PDP would still have won the poll even if the tribunal validated the supplementary election.<br /> <br /> He held that if the “afflicted votes” of 2,029 were deducted from the 255,505 votes polled by the APC at the end of the September 27, 2018 run-off, the party and its candidate would only have polled 253,476 votes.<br /> <br /> But he held that the PDP would have won with 253,777 votes if the afflicted votes of 1,246 votes were deducted from the party’s 255,023 votes at the end of the supplementary election.<br /> <br /> Justice Obiora said, “By our earlier calculation, the votes affected by non-compliance are:<br /> <br /> “APC: 2,029; PDP: 1,246 which we hereby nullify.<br /> <br /> “If the above votes are deducted from the scores of the parties as of September 22, 2018 election, the standing of the parties will be as follows: APC: 254,345 votes, minus 2,029 votes equal 252,315 votes.<br /> <br /> PDP: 254,698 votes, minus 1,246 votes, equal to 253,452 votes.<br /> <br /> “Perchance the rerun is found to be valid, and the final scores of the parties declared after the rerun of September 27, 2018 is allowed to stand, then deducting the votes that were found to be afflicted by non-compliance shall stand the parties in the following scores:<br /> <br /> “APC: 255,505 votes, minus 2,029 votes, equal to 253,476 votes.<br /> <br /> “PDP: 255,023 votes, minus the afflicted votes of non-compliance which is 1,246, will give us 253,777 votes.<br /> <br /> “In both situations, it is obvious that the petitioners won the election to the office of the Governor of Osun State.”<br /> <br /> The tribunal held that the election in 17 polling units was conducted in non-compliance with the Electoral Act by alleged “deliberate failure” of INEC to fill in eight columns on the result sheets and the number of accredited voters and give an account of usage of ballot papers.<br /> <br /> “We are of the opinion that the non-recording was deliberate and tailored towards achieving an unwholesome result.”<br /> <br /> The tribunal added that aside from the cases of non-compliance, Forms EC8A and the result sheets of polling units were discredited during the trial by virtue of alterations noticed on them.<br /> <br /> It said the figures on the certified true copies of the forms were different from what was on the pink duplicate copies issued to party agents at the end of the election.<br /> <br /> Commenting on the conduct of INEC, the tribunal stated, “We note that a substantial number of the Certified True Copies of the Forms EC8A either have figures on them altered or have figures entered in them in Columns 1 – 8 thereof.<br /> <br /> “The alterations in figures and fresh filling in of the columns were not on the pink copies of the Forms EC8A distributed to the parties’ polling unit agents on the day of the election, which were tendered before this honourable tribunal.<br /> <br /> “The obvious implication of this unfortunate development is that the first respondent went to work on the documents after the election, behind the parties.<br /> <br /> “The first respondent (INEC) should realise that it holds an office of public trust and should at all times, strive to maintain the sanctity of the electoral practice.”<br /> <br /> It added that the September 27, 2018 supplementary poll was illegal because it was a product of an unlawful cancellation of the September 22, 2018 election in seven polling units.<br /> <br /> It held that the Returning Officer, unlawfully cancelled the September 22, 2018 governorship election in the state in seven polling units.<br /> <br /> It said the “unlawful” cancellation of the election in the seven polling units by the State Returning Officer informed the INEC’s decision to declare the results inconclusive and fixed September 27, 2018 for the supplementary election.<br /> <br /> Justice Obiora also noted that Oyetola’s lawyer, Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN), had argued that the tribunal could not nullify his client’s certificate of return issued to him by INEC on the grounds that the said certificate was not tendered by the petitioners.<br /> <br /> But the tribunal held that “an order of nullification of the said certificate of return is a mere formality” as “the foundation of the certificate of return issued to the second respondent has been eroded” by the nullification of Oyetola’s election.<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, in his minority judgment, Justice Sirajo, held that the petitioners did not prove that election actually held in the seven polling units where results were cancelled.<br /> <br /> He added that the petitioners failed to prove who, in fact, cancelled the results.<br /> <br /> He therefore held that the supplementary election of September, 27, 2018 was lawful.<br /> <br /> He also held that the petitioners failed to prove how the non-compliance with the electoral laws in 23 polling units substantially affected the final results.<br /> <br /> Justice Sirajo also said even if non-substantial compliance had affected the outcome of the election, the tribunal, by virtue of Section 140(2) of the Electoral Act, lacked the power to subtract the votes affected by the non-compliance from the scores of the candidates and announce a winner.<br /> <br /> Shortly after the judgment was delivered in Abuja, wild jubilation erupted across many towns in Osun State on Friday.<br /> <br /> Initially, Osogbo, the Osun State capital, was calm until news filtered in that Adeleke had been declared the winner of the election by the tribunal.<br /> <br /> Immediately, supporters of the PDP took to the streets to celebrate the victory in the state capital.<br /> <br /> The supporters were seen along Odiolowo and Olaiya areas of Osogbo, celebrating Adeleke’s victory, as thousands of people thronged Adeleke’s Ede country house.<br /> <br /> Ede, the hometown of Senator Adeleke, also erupted in wild celebrations immediately the news was confirmed.<br /> <br /> The House of Representatives member-elect for the Ede Federal Constituency, Mr. Bamidele Salam, led celebrations across the town.<br /> <br /> Women, youths, commercial motorcyclists and bus drivers were not left out of the celebrations that moved from Aisu area to other parts of the town.<br /> <br /> Similarly, people in Ile Ife also celebrated the PDP’s victory, especially in the areas where Hon. Albert Adeogun, who is Adeleke’s running mate, has large supporters.<br /> <br /> In Ilesha town, the PDP supporters also held parties at the Roundabout area and moved to other parts of the town in a motorcade.<br /> <br /> On Dada Estate, a community in the Egbedore local government area, residents, who stormed the streets in large numbers, were seen celebrating Adeleke’s victory.<br /> <b><br /></b><b>APC rejects tribunal’s verdict </b><br /> <br /> However, the APC in Osun State has rejected the judgment of the tribunal.<br /> <br /> The APC in the state in a terse message to one of our correspondents by its spokesperson, Kunle Oyatomi, said “’The verdict cannot stand superior legal scrutiny. Therefore, we will appeal against it.”<br /> <br /> But the Osun State PDP Chairman, Mr. Soji Adagunodo, while reacting to the victory in a telephone conversation with one of our correspondents, said the verdict of the tribunal “showed the supremacy of God.”<br /> <br /> Meanwhile, the Osun State Government has urged the people to remain calm and go about their lawful activities.<br /> <br />

The position of the commission is that we will not issue certificate of return to Governor Rochas Okorocha in relation to the senatorial election.<br /> <br /> “Since the matter is already in court, the best thing to do is not to prejudge the matter that is in court, but to allow the judicial processes to run through.<br /> <br /> “If at the end of the day, the court gives an order that we should give him his certificate of return, of course, the commission will obey such a court order.<br /> <br /> “If on the other hand, the court takes a different position and makes other consequential orders in relation to the conduct of the elections in Imo West, we will also comply with whatever order the court gives.<br /> <br /> “As of today, the matter is pending in court, the best thing to do is to wait for the outcome of the judicial process.”<br /> <br /> <br /> <br /> Okoye also said the resumption of collation and announcements of results for the governorship election in Rivers State would be done between April 2 and 5.<br /> <br /> Okoye said, “The commission set up a fact-finding committee that visited Rivers State and submitted its report, which revealed that while election could not hold in a few areas, it was successfully concluded in others with the declaration of winners in 21 state constituencies.<br /> <br /> “Collation was ongoing at the time of the suspension of the process.”<br /> <br /> Okoye also announced that supplementary elections, where necessary, would now take place on April 13, while issuance of all outstanding certificates of return would be concluded on April 19.<br /> <br /> He said certificates of return in respect for governors-elect shall be presented by supervising national commissioners of the respective states between March 27 and March 29.<br /> <br /> He also said the precise date for the presentation in each state would be made known by the respective resident electoral commissioners after consultation with the supervising national commissioners.<br /> <br /> Okoye said date for presentation of certificates of return the state houses of assembly members-elect would be announced in due course.<br /> <br /> He added that supplementary elections would be conducted in 18 states of the federation on Saturday.<br /> <br /> According to him, detail of the states and constituencies where the elections would take place will be uploaded on the electoral body’s website before the close of work on Thursday.<br /> <br /> Okoye said the commission had conducted governorship elections in 29 states and returns had been made in 22 states.<br /> <br /> According to him, while the election was suspended in Rivers State, it was declared inconclusive in Bauchi, Adamawa (North East); Benue and Plateau (North Central) and Sokoto and Kano (North West) states.<br /> <br /> He said, “Following the inconclusive governorship elections in the six states, the commission fixed supplementary elections for March 23, 2019.<br /> <br /> “The supplementary governorship election earlier scheduled to hold in Bauchi State is now a subject of litigation, which was initiated by the All Progressives Congress and its candidate, Mohammed Abubakar.<br /> <br /> “An interlocutory injunction to suspend the process has been served on the commission by the Federal High Court, Abuja. While the commission has complied in accordance with its policy to obey all court orders in deference to the rule of law, it has also taken urgent steps to vacate the order and dismiss the action.”

Gen. Fred Eze (retd.). The meeting was said to have been held between community members and the herdsmen in Uzo-Uwani.<br /> <br /> Ogueche was said to have attended the meeting as the Administrative Secretary of the Uzo-Uwani Local Government Council.<br /> <br /> Sources said the killing might have been aimed at provoking another round of crisis between the herdsmen and the people of Uzo-Uwani.<br /> <br /> Our source learnt that the late Ogueche was appointed at the meeting as a member of a team to assess the extent of damage of yam barns in Adaba, his community, and Umulokpa, alleged to have been destroyed by herders in the area.<br /> <br /> Briefing journalists on the activities of the command in stemming insecurity, the CP promised to bring the perpetrators of the killings to justice, just as he paraded five herdsmen alleged to specialise in kidnapping in the state.<br /> <br /> Balarabe also paraded seven other suspects, who were arrested for various crimes, ranging from armed robbery to murder.<br /> <br /> Rev. We thank God that we were able to put it out to a reasonable extent and we also thank the fire service personnel, who arrived promptly to extinguish the fire completely. Nobody died or was injured but properties were destroyed,” he stated.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> An occupant of the building, who declined to give her name, said the fire was as a result of an electrical spark in one of the flats due to fluctuating power supply.<br /> <br /> She said, “The fire was as a result of an electrical spark. I was only able to run out with my phone and laptop, because I did not notice it early enough<br /> <br /> “We have lost everything to the fire. Not even a pin was salvaged from the apartments. We lost money, documents and properties. As I speak to you now, we are left with nothing and only God knows where we are going to lay our heads tonight.”<br /> <br /> A resident of the area, Sodiq Fatai, accused the electricity distribution company in charge of the area of not addressing the issue of erratic power supply, which led to the incident.<br /> <br /> “We’ve been having issues with electricity supply for more than four months now. We have called the attention of the electricity distribution company to it, all to no avail. Power had been fluctuating since morning and that was what led to the electrical spark that caused the fire; the electricity distribution company is our major problem,” he said.<br /> <br /> There was another fire outbreak around the mechanic workshop on Olatunde Onimole Street, by Censors Market, Aguda, Surulere, Lagos, on Thursday.<br /> <br /> Residents alleged that the inferno emanated from a local gas refuelling shop in the area.<br /> <br /> The fire was said to have burnt cars parked around the area as well as other properties.<br /> <br /> When the spokesperson for the Lagos State Fire Service, Mrs Bola Ajao, was contacted, she confirmed the two incidents, stating that officials of the service were deployed to put the situations under control.<br /> <br /> She stated, “At Magodo, the fire started from the upper flat of the main building and our Alausa station responded around 12.29pm. The station was later supported by the Ikeja Fire Station. The fire was contained to the flat, while other apartments were saved from burning.<br /> <br /> “The call for the Surulere fire outbreak was received at the same time as that of Magodo. The Sari Iganmu and Ilupeju fire stations responded around 12.38pm. Four vehicles and three motorcycles were burnt. The affected area was a mechanic workshop, while a mosque and bungalow were partially affected.”<br /> <br /> The acting Director, Lagos State Fire Service, Rasaki Musibau, advised residents of the state to be fire safety conscious and empower themselves with basic firefighting devices so as to prevent colossal loss of lives and property.

It is not something you can say off hand but if we deduce from our previous submission in 2015, hoping that it would take place in 2016, a lot has changed in terms of currency devaluation but if we are to use the 2015 submission, we are looking at a submission of over N220bn.”<br /> <br /> Ismail said although the 2019 Budget proposal had no provision for census, separate budget could be submitted for the exercise.<br /> <br /> The DG said it was time to begin to speak about it since elections were already coming to an end.<br /> <br /> He, therefore, pleaded with President Muhammadu Buhari to take the matter into consideration.<br /> <br /> Ismail added, “Normally, it (census budget) is done within the wide service vote which is directly under the Presidency and therefore, when proclamation is made by Mr President, we are very hopeful because we have briefed him and we are very hopeful that this time round, having put the elections behind us, we are pushing very hard for Mr. President to look graciously at the commission so that we can undertake the net census because without the census, there will be no planning.<br /> <br /> “Anybody that is conversant with this country, if you visit the urban cities, you will just see a large number of human beings and until there is proper planning of who we are, our composition, etc, we won’t be able to plan effectively.<br /> <br /> “We are proud to say Mr President is doing very well in the area of infrastructure in the last three to four years and we are convinced that he will continue to do so but better still, from our perspective, the infrastructure should be provided based on the basis that we know where we are, who we are, where we are mostly located and our various population dynamics.”<br /> <br /> Ismail said the time had come for a law to be introduced which would give the NPOPC the mandate to hold census at regular intervals just as the Independent National Electoral Commission undertakes elections every four years.<br /> <br /> He said a bill had been submitted to the National Assembly to that effect which had passed the first reading but things slowed down because of the electioneering.

We do not have a preferred party or candidate.<br /> <br /> “As noted by many observer groups in their preliminary reports, we too were disappointed by the low voter turnout as well as credible reports of voter intimidation, vote-buying, interference by security forces, and violence in some locations.<br /> <br /> “We are saddened by those acts of violence and extend our deepest sympathy to the families of those who lost their lives, including those who worked for the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security services.”<br /> <br /> Stating that it had no preferred candidate, the mission expressed support for a democratic process “where the will of the Nigerian people is reflected in the results.”<br /> <br /> <b><u>No perfect elections anywhere, INEC tells US</u></b><br /> <br /> But asked to react to the US assessment of the 2019 elections, the Chief Press Secretary to INEC Chairman, Rotimi Oyekanmi, appreciated the US support for the nation’s electoral process. He, however, said that no country in the world could conduct a perfect election, adding that the US observations were not enough to discredit the integrity of the elections.<br /> <br /> He said, “As one of our important partners, the Independent National Electoral Commission appreciates the United States’ interest and support for Nigeria’s electoral process.<br /> <br /> “However, there is no country in the world where general elections are perfect from the beginning to the end. In our reckoning, coupled with various reports released by local and international observers so far, the 2019 general elections were a success, but by no means perfect.<br /> <br /> “There are lessons to be learnt and there is room for improvement. The commission will continue to do its best to deliver credible elections with the hope that the major players will appreciate the importance of playing by the rules and ultimately accept that no political office is worth the precious life of any human being. All is vanity.”<br /> <br /> However, the main opposition party, the Peoples Democratic Party, supported the position of the US on the conduct of the 2019 elections.<br /> <br /> It alleged that the military were sharing power with President Muhammadu Buhari.<br /> <br /> The party said the involvement of the military in the conduct of the elections had shown that the President had either abandoned his job or that the military were no longer ready to face their constitutional roles of defending the territorial integrity of the country.<br /> <br /> The PDP National Chairman, Prince Uche Secondus, who stated this while reacting to the US assessment of the elections, said the military were behind the states whose elections were declared inconclusive by INEC.<br /> <br /> He said the military practically took over the control of the elections by allegedly determining who should vote and whether such votes should count in many states or not.<br /> <br /> He added that in some states like Rivers and Bauchi, the military took over collation centres and even barred some officers of the commission from gaining access to the centres where votes were meant to be counted and collated.<br /> <br /> Secondus said, “It is not only the US that is disappointed; millions of Nigerians are also sad with the conduct of the elections. This is the first time in the history of elections in Nigeria that the military will be dictating the pace and whether the votes will count or not.<br /> <br /> “We have all seen the report of INEC on Rivers State and others. It is obvious that the military have been sharing powers with the President. If this is not true, how can the military be the one to determine which results would be allowed into the collation centres?<br /> <br /> “The military have abandoned their constitutional roles of defending the territorial integrity of the nation. They have become an arm of a political party. This is dangerous for the nation.<br /> <br /> “The military are helping the ruling party to kill the opposition in order to have a one party state. If that is allowed, then we may not have democracy again but a one party state. That are shameful and unacceptable.<br /> <br /> “The military are the one determining which state election is to be declared inconclusive with their actions.<br /> <br /> “Democracy without opposition is no longer a government of the people by the people. Rather, it is a dictatorship government. We should all rise up and caution both the President and the military.”

The document said the party recorded 337,359 votes in the data available in the server, but the commission credited the party with 337,377 votes; likewise in Plateau, the party garnered 273,031 votes, against the 548,665 recorded by INEC in its final collation.

He is a pastor and ordained minister, an LGBTQ, human rights, and HIV/AIDS activist, community builder, queer theologian, lawyer, and parent. Macaulay founded House of Rainbow, Nigeria’s first house of worship catering to the LGBTQ community, and currently serves as its executive director.<br /> <br /> Macaulay, who is HIV positive, also comes from a family of clerics.<br /> <br /> His father, August Olakunle Macaulay, is a theologian, principal, the founder of United Bible University, and the president of the Association of Christian Theologians in Nigeria.<br /> <br /> Macaulay studied at several primary and secondary schools in Nigeria, and graduated in 1986. While in school, he was involved in several drama and poetry activities, and later set up the Poetry Inspired Club for young people. Macaulay was also interested in music and directing, but soon lost passion for both and began to focus on his theological development.<br /> <br /> According to Ubuntubiographyproject.com, Macaulay’s Christian upbringing had always forced him into a different understanding of same-sex relations, and he married a woman under the guise of spiritual healing at the age of 24. While Macaulay experienced same-gender relationships and desires before marriage, it was not until after his divorce in 1994 that he fully came out as gay, with a great effort to reconcile his faith, spirituality, culture, and sexuality.<br /> <br /> Macaulay worked for Crown Prosecution Service from 1987 to 1999, where his career rose from administrator to legal executive. He then went to work with PricewaterhouseCoopers as an IT procurement manager, became self-employed in 2001, and decided to combine his career with developing his passion and preparation for full-time Christian ministry.

He remains committed to the broad-based party, which he remains absolutely certain, has the best antidote to the yearnings and aspirations of Nigerians.<br /> <br /> “The falsehood is another chunk from the ongoing propaganda and disinformation machinery of his foes. Many of the residents told our newsmen that they slept in the bush while seven people were killed, although police said five civilians and 11 Boko Haram fighters lost their lives in the attack.<br /> <br /> In an interview with journalists on Wednesday, the district head, Sanusi, said the Boko Haram fighters looted petrol stations, drug stores and food stores, adding that they left behind three vans containing food stuffs and stolen items when the military repelled the attack.<br /> <br /> <a name='more' id="more"></a><br /> <br /> He said, “The insurgents came in through an unusual route with several vehicles. They filled them with petrol and stole food stuffs from stores. They also looted drug stores which showed that they were looking for medicine for members. They also attacked the Union Bank in the town but even though they blew the vault with dynamites, they could not go away with cash because from what we heard, a bullion van had come earlier to empty excess cash from the vault to the Central Bank in Yola.”
