Former US President, Barack Obama has joined other leaders all over the world to wish his successor, Donald Trump recovery from coronavirus disease.
It was reported that Trump had announced that he and his wife, Melanie tested positive for the virus.
Following the development, he was later taken to the military hospital in Maryland where he will be spending some days while receiving medical attention.
Reacting, the Former President, in a tweet via his Twitter account on Friday said he and his wife pray for a quick recovery for the President and his wife, Melanie Trump.

Michelle and I hope that the President, First Lady, and all those affected by the deadly virus around the country are getting the care they need and are on the path to a quick recovery.
“It is obvious that we are in the midst of a big political battle right now, and while there’s a lot at stake let’s also remember that we are all Americans.

Tottenham Hotspur manager, Jose Mourinho, has insisted he is not out for revenge when he takes his side to Manchester United on Sunday.
Mourinho was United boss for two and a half seasons before he was sacked in December 2018 and replaced by current manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Ahead of the Premier League clash, Mourinho was asked if he was seeking revenge.
“Revenge? I won so many times at Old Trafford as Man Utd coach and as an opponent coach. Revenge for what? Nobody treated me badly there, everyone was so nice to me,” the Portuguese said.

During his time at Old Trafford, Mourinho won the Carabao Cup and Europa League in 2016/2017, as well as the Community Shield in 2016.
However, he fell short in the Premier League, Champions League and FA Cup, finishing as runner-up in the league and FA Cup in 2017/2018.
“I won what was possible to win, I didn’t win what was not possible to win. I gave everything, I gave my life to the club and my professionalism like I always do.
“Internally, lots of friends for life, lots of amazing people that I met in the club. I only have good feelings, feelings that I will have to forget in 90 minutes because for 90 minutes, they want to win, I want to win, that’s football,” Mourinho added.

Yoruba One Voice (YOV) has advised the Nigerian government to allow a referendum.
The body said this would afford Nigerians the opportunity to agree on laws and policies that should be continued or discarded.
YOV Secretary-General, Sina Okanlomo, spoke in South Africa after a rally on the state of Nigeria.
Okanlomo disclosed that letters had been sent to the United Nation, European Union, United States, African Union and embassies, on “peaceful decoupling of the Yoruba territory from Nigeria”.

The scribe declared that it was in the interest of the South-West region and indigenes in other states to exit “the current political format” due to age-long challenges.
“We are entitled to our rights. There is an urgent need for a referendum for us to know the basis for our existence. The rallies came as the best alternative because Yorubas in the Diaspora strongly owe our allegiance to Oodua Republic.
“The Yoruba are tired of this system. A country where the security situation is porous; where a governor was attacked severally even with an array of security operatives. A country where citizens cannot hold peaceful rallies.
“A country ravaged by nepotism, bigotry, unemployment, infrastructure deficit, killings, banditry, terrorism, and economic doom. A country where there is no fund in the national treasury and citizens subjected to poverty.”
Okanlomo, however, expressed appreciation to Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) for joining YOV rallies worldwide.
He also commended the South-East people for supporting the Biafra agitation and observing IPOB’s sit-at-home directive.

Socialite and club owner, Mike Nwogu, aka Pretty Mike, has said he constantly markets himself on social media because he is an eligible bachelor and a choice husband material.
In a recent interview, the socialite maintained that he had an array of women around him who wanted him to leave his nightclub business to get married soon.
He said, “I call myself husband material because I am still a bachelor and I have to market myself for the ladies. I am just letting them know that I am a potential husband, though I am not easy to get. Kanyamata (s3x herbs and potions) will not work on me. Some ladies have tried it but it did not work. I am friends with all the kanyamata sellers, so it would be a fruitless effort.
“Some people think I am a s3x addict or that I jump in bed with women but they forget that I am in women’s business as a nightclub owner. Some of the ladies I have met want me to leave the nightclub business. But it is my source of livelihood and I cannot leave it to please anyone. The nightlife business means one would have a lot of women around one. They are the ones one would invite for parties and social gatherings and they would show up. I cannot have ugly female friends, so they are all beautiful and voluptuous. My girlfriends get intimidated by these things but I am at my peak right now.”

Homto, daughter of AIT founder, Chief Raymond Alegho Dokpesi has opened up on why her marriage crashed.
In a recent interview, the Accountancy graduate from Igbinedion University Okada noted that her marriage was never about love.
She revealed that her ex-husband had issues he couldn’t deal with.
Speaking in  an encounter  with The Nation, she said: “It was after I got into my previous marriage that I realized it was never love. It was all about being with Homto (Dokpesi’s daughter) for what she has, not who she is as a person.

My ex-husband had issues, and when a man cannot deal with his issues, he starts abusing you physically, emotionally and mentally. I tried with him, it did not work. You know with men, once they come out and say a woman is barren, a lot of people believe it. He said I was barren. But my dad stood strong by me. That is why I owe my life to him. My dad paid for us to go to the UK to do tests. Afterwards, my baby’s father appeared. That’s why I do not hold grudges against my baby daddy, because he was the reason all the doubts on my fertility was put to rest. But in his own case, we had broken up for a while, and there were rumours of my dad being named the chief of staff to the then President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan. All of a sudden, he was back, and up until 12th of February we saw and spoke. He was well aware I had got pregnant. We discussed it and he promised coming to see my family.
On the 14th of February 2014, a chief of staff was named, which was not my father, and my calls and messages from that day were never answered, even till this moment! These are brunts that we face; not because we are not good people but because we may never find people who love for who we are, but people who love for what one is worth or what they can gain out of one”.

Canada’s border restrictions will be eased to allow in foreign students as well as non-citizens who are in an exclusive dating relationship with a Canadian, the immigration minister announced Friday.
A ban on non-essential international entries was extended this week until the end of October, as the country grapples with a surge in new coronavirus cases.
But Ottawa signalled it would seek to facilitate more reunifications.
“We recognise that travel restrictions should not keep loved ones apart,” Immigration Minister Marco Mendicino told reporters.

“In these challenging times, we know those challenges are best met with the strength and support of those we love by our side,” he said.
Canadian media have reported on a number of border breaches by love-struck Americans, including one man who broke pandemic rules to meet up with his Canadian girlfriend in Alberta and go sightseeing. He was fined and ordered out of the country.
In another case, an American sailed to the Canadian Pacific coast to pick up his Canadian girlfriend. The couple were intercepted by the coast guard, and each was returned to their respective country.
Several couples have also met at the border for dates, each staying on their respective side.
The border changes announced on Friday go into effect on October 8 and allow in foreign partners in an exclusive dating relationship of at least one year, as well as their children, grandparents and siblings.
It will also allow in foreign nationals for compassionate reasons such as a life-threatening illness, critical injury or death.
Foreign students accepted to Canadian universities that have an approved Covid-19 readiness plan in place will also be let in starting on October 20.
Travellers will need to apply and be issued an authorisation before they can arrive in Canada, and upon arrival will have to self-isolate for 14 days.
Public Safety Minister Bill Blair, meanwhile, hinted that the closure of the Canada-US border to all non-essential travellers could last for months, given a spike in new cases on both sides.
The restriction, under an agreement between Ottawa and Washington, was first imposed in March and is set to expire on October 21.
But Blair said it would likely remain in place until the Covid-19 conditions in both countries “change very substantively.”

A former Big Brother Naija contestant, Natacha Akide, popularly known as Tacha, told her fans during the week that she had a breakdown during the lockdown declared at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
The reality TV star made this known in a video shared on her YouTube channel during the week. She said, “I had a breakdown and I had to ask myself― ‘what is the world turning to? What have I learnt’? Back in school, we were taught to always learn moral lessons from stories. The moral lesson I learnt from the COVID-19 lockdown was to (always) spread love. I had to speak to a life coach who told me I needed to take a break, even if it was for three days. It was so bad that I would just lay on my bed, cover myself with clothes and be shaking because I was sad. I did not enjoy that period. I did not enjoy seeing the bad news (all around). I kept taking ginger and garlic every day.”
She also stated that she thought the world was about to come to an end. “I was one of the people that thought the world was coming to an end during the COVID-19 lockdown. I also asked, ‘Is God angry with us’? The lockdown really messed me up financially, emotionally and psychologically. It had a very bad effect on me. There were a lot of rape cases during the lockdown and hearing of so many bad happenings affected my head. Whenever I am not online, it means I am taking a break from the negative happenings for the sake of my mental health.”

Advising her fans whom she calls ‘Titans’ to always show love, Tacha said, “2020 has taught me how to spread love. One minute you are seeing someone, the next minute, the person is no more. Even with all these, there are still people who like to put negative comments on one’s posts on social media. At this point, I don’t have words for anybody that spreads hate. This is the time we must spread love. We must make deliberate efforts to spread love.”

US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has revealed that he tested negative for coronavirus after President Donald Trump announced he had been infected and quarantined.
Speaking to reporters on Friday, Pompeo said, “I’m feeling fantastic.”
According to him, he was tested about 30 minutes ago, just a few hours after Trump’s announcement, adding that it was the fourth time he had been tested during the past two weeks.
He also said that he hasn’t interacted with the president, adding that his prayers are with him and his family.

The Rivers State Police Command has said that it has arrested 22 suspects that allegedly linked to the mayhem unleashed on the F-SARS Unit at Oyigbo Local Government area of the state.
Suspected members of the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB were said to have killed an F-SARS personnel at Oyigbo Wednesday night, the eve of their stay-at-home October 1st order.
A source within the area said, “passersby who saw the dead body of the police alerted the Oyigbo Divisional Police and in a combined effort of the officers attached to tactical units of Operation Sting and Anti-Cultis, the action of the rampaging hoodlums were curtailed as they later retreated to a neighbouring state after exchange of fire”.
It was gathered that the attack on the F-SARS was devastating following an arson on the station by the suspected IPOB members.

Confirming the incidents, Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Nnamdi Omoni said in a statement, “Our SARS Office in Oyigbo was attacked.
“We lost one of our personnel and our patrol vehicle burnt. We have arrested 22 suspects in connection with the incident. Investigation is ongoing.
“We have also stabilized the area and security beefed up”.

The Federal Government of Nigeria has ordered the reopening of all schools in the country.
This is after about six months of shutting down in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Adamu Adamu, the Minister of Education, disclosed this during a press briefing in Abuja.
The minister further advised all schools to adhere to the guidelines for the reopening of schools.

Kingmakers of the Zazzau emirate have protested cancellation of the selection process for a new Emir by Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai.
Last Thursday, they screened eleven princes – from four dynasties – who indicated interest to succeed the late monarch, Shehu Idris.
Three came tops after voting and their names were submitted to the Secretary to the State State Government, Balarabe Abbas, the next day.
One week after the SSG and other state officials witnessed how the top 3 emerged, the confirmation of a new Emir is still being awaited.

Fears that the process would take a longer time were confirmed on Wednesday when El-Rufai announced that the kingmakers voting had been jettisoned.
To the chagrin of many who already accused him of “delayed tactics”, the governor annulled the exercise on the ground that two applicants were excluded.
El-Rufai disclosed that the kingmakers were engaged in a fresh process.
“KDSG directed a new round of the selection process after cancelling the initial process, which excluded two interested applicants.” he tweeted.
On Thursday, it was gathered that the kingmakers are not happy about the turn of events, and that the dethroned Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi, has intervened.
Close watchers are insisting that the law empowers them to recommend to the governor and criticizing El-Rufai for allegedly hijacking the process.
“The governor first claimed he had not received the kingmakers’ report, then said he was reading books on the matter, the meets the President, then cancels the process. This is laughable”, an indigene said.
A source told newsmen that as El-Rufai tweeted on Wednesday, the kingmakers met the government’s delegates at the State House in Kawo.
“Ibrahim Aminu (Waziri Zazzau), Umar Muhammad (Fagacin Zazzau), Muhammad Abbas (Makama Ƙarami), and Dalhatu Ƙasimu (Limamin Juma’a) were seen there around 6pm. Muhammad Aliyu (Limamin Kona) arrived around 9pm”, he said.
“The kingmakers maintained their position; that they stand by the cancelled process and selection of three princes – Bashir Aminu (Iyan Zazzau), Aminu Shehu Idris (Turakin Zazzau), Muhammadu Munir Ja’afaru (Yariman Zazzau).
“They reminded state officials that the SSG conducted the voting process, using government’s criteria. They complained about not being officially notified about the nullification tweeted by the governor.
“They then completed the assessment forms of the two ‘excluded applicants’ who submitted their documents. The duo are the reason the governor cancel the initial process. The kingmakers did not vote again.”
The two are Balarabe Tijjani (Bunu Zazzau) and Shehu Umar (Sarkin Dajin Zazzau).
The source added that the kingmakers were asked to reconfirm their votes.
“They reaffirmed that they voted consciously and without prejudice, in line with the governor’s public directive in his closing remarks of the third-day prayer for late Emir Shehu Idris.
“Sanusi Lamido, the former Emir of Kano, came on Zoom video to plead to them for a change of heart for his friend, Ahmad Nuhu Bamalli (Magajin Garin), but they flatly refused. They returned to Zaria around 11 pm on Wednesday.”
Bamalli, the immediate past Nigerian Ambassador to Thailand, was among the eight the kingmakers dropped during screening.
Meanwhile, soldiers have been deployed to some strategic parts of Zaria.
They are currently around Kofan Doka, Babban Dodo and at the Emir of Zazzau’s Palace.
With the two excluded applicants now added, the names of all 13 interested princes are Balarabe Tijjani (Bunu Zazzau), Shehu Umar (Sarkin Dajin Zazzau), Bashir Aminu (Iyan Zazzau), Aminu Shehu Idris (Turakin Zazzau), Muhammadu Munir Ja’afaru (Yariman Zazzau), Ahmad Nuhu Bammali (Magajin Garin Zazzau).
Others are Abdulkarim Aminu (Wanban Zazzau), Aminu Umaru Idris (Dangaladiman Zazzau), Bello Umaru Idris (Baraden Zazzau), Saidu àMailafiya (Ciroman Zazzau), Shitu Dikko (Dangaladiman Waziri Zazzau), Sambo Shehu Idris (Sarkin Kudun Zazzau), and Yusuf Shehu Idris (Sadaukin Zazzau).

American rapper, Tekashi 6ix9ine has reportedly been hospitalized after an overdose of diet pills and caffeine.
According to The Shade Room, the 24-year-old, during an Interview, confirmed that he was admitted to a Florida hospital on Tuesday following his adverse reaction to the combination of substances.
He said his overdose was a result of taking a cup of coffee with two Hydroxycut pills instead of the recommended daily dosage of one.
Tekashi said the combination of diet supplements and caffeine caused his heart rate to accelerate and began to “sweat excessively” soon after his consumption.

The rapper further revealed that he was using Hydroxycut pills because of his serious weight gain during his time in prison adding that he was more than 200 pounds and has now lost about 30 pounds.

Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has said that he was confronted with over N50 billion salary obligations left by the previous administrations.
Bello said the huge debt obligations inherited had impeded his government’s development plans for the state.
The governor, in a state-wide broadcast to mark the country 60th Independence Anniversary, on Thursday, added that he had cleared most of the debt left behind by the past administration.
He maintained that those whose actions hurt the state and people would be made to face a reckoning.

“To give you an idea of the huge scale of this problem, let me inform you that this administration has had to clear over N50bn in salary obligations inherited from previous administrations.
“The bulk of that money was borrowed and along with our other debt obligations continues to impede our ability to free up funds for infrastructural and other development as we would like,” Bello said.

The five candidates still in the race for the job of director-general of the World Trade Organisation will know their fate next week, according to AFP.
It was earlier reported that three candidates including Mexico’s Jesus Seade, Egypt’s Hamid Mamdouh, and Moldova’s Tudor Ulianovschi were dropped last month as the Geneva-based organisation said they didn’t secure enough support in a first of three rounds of voting.
But Nigeria’s Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Kenya’s Amina Mohamed, Britain’s Liam Fox, Saudi Arabia’s Mohammed Al-Tuwaijri, and South Korea’s Yoo Myung-hee are still in the race.
But next week, the initial pool of eight candidates to replace Roberto Azevedo, who stepped down as the WTO director-general last month a year ahead of schedule, will be whittled down again, with just two remaining after a second elimination round.

It remains unclear whether the WTO members will ultimately agree on another leader from Europe.
There is no requirement for a regional rotation of the WTO chief position.
But there have been calls for an African to finally get a shot at running the organisation, which has counted three director-generals from Europe, and one each from Oceania, Asia and South America since its creation in 1995.
The WTO aims to select a winner in November, but some have voiced fear that increasing politicisation of the WTO, which relies on consensus to reach decisions, could draw out the process.
Whoever is handed the job in the end will be taking over an organisation mired in multiple crises, and struggling to help members navigate a severe global economic slump triggered by the coronavirus pandemic.

Sean Conley, White House physician, has issued a statement on the COVID-19 test result of United States President Donald Trump and wife, Melania.
Conley addressed his letter to Kayleigh Mcenany, Assistant to President and White House Press Secretary.
The doctor said information was released with the permission of the American leader and his spouse.
He wrote: “This evening I received confirmation that both President Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

“The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence.
“The White House medical team and I will maintain a vigilant watch, and I appreciate the support provided by some of our country’s greatest medical professionals and institutions.”
Conley said the President should be able to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering.
The physician promised to keep Mcenany updated on any future developments.
Coronavirus was first reported late 2019 in Wuhan, China.
The pandemic has killed over 1 million people globally, and infected 34.5 million.

The Special Public Works (SPW) programme of the Federal Government won’t take-off tomorrow as planned.
It was learnt that the Ministry of Labour and Employment has written to President Muhammadu Buhari for approval to extend the commencement of the programme by 19 days.
A highly placed source told The Nation that the supervising ministry is waiting for the presidential approval.
It was learnt that delay in the release of funds for purchase of equipment for the programme necessitated the call for extension.

It was also gathered that some of the sites for implementation of the programme are flooded due to rainfall.
The programme is designed to put 774,000 young artisans to work on public facilities between October and December.
Each beneficiary is to be paid N20,000 per month. Fifty-two billion naira is voted for the programme in the budget.
One thousand beneficiaries are being selected from each of the 774 local government councils.
A source said: “The funds to be used to purchase light equipment to be used was released very late, as late as last week.
“The minister has written to the President requesting an extension. He has insisted that there must be due process in the purchase of equipment.
“You don’t buy things across the shelf like that in government. It has to go through due process. Because the fund for the purchase of some of those light equipment came in late and we need to follow the due process, we had no choice but to ask for two weeks or 19 days extension.
“Don’t forget that we need to go through the Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP).
“The second reasons is that this is a dry season programme but the water level is still very high in some of the chosen sites. We expect the water level to drop. We think in the next two to three weeks it will be okay for us to start work at some of those sites. Before the end of October, they would have dried up.
“We are looking at the end of the second week of October to officially begin implementation of the programme.”
Only 15 states have completed recruitment process and submitted the names of successful applicants.
Some of the states that have completed the selection and submitted names include: Ebonyi, Yobe, Bauchi, Zamfara, Gombe, Oyo and Benue.
The source said: “Most of the states have concluded their selection and they are submitting the lists one by one. Some that are still waiting for one or two interest groups are yet to submit and we said no problem with that since we are asking for extension.”
It was also gathered that the banks have commenced capturing the biometrics of successful applicants selected.
Six banks have been enlisted for the job. They are: Zenith, Access, Fidelity, FCMB, UBA, and Heritage bank. They have received their letters of engagement in their branches in the 774 local government councils.
The government said successful applicants will be paid through their bank accounts using their Bank Verification Numbers (BVN).
It stated that the resort to BVN would entrench transparency and avoid fraudulent payments.
Keyamo yesterday declined to speak on the commencement date of the programme but dismissed reports that the slots for federal lawmakers have been increased.
The minister said the ministry retains the original arrangement of slots allotted to political office holders and other groups.
He explained that circumstances may alter the arrangement in some states.
Keyamo said: “That is an attempt to shave my head behind me as the minister in charge of the programme.
“I don’t know where that information came from. I am the minister in charge. I am the one on whose table the bulk stops in terms of policy matters. Who gets what in government and how is a policy matter, it is not an execution, it is policy. Once that policy is made, the agency can go and execute.
“To set the policy as to who gets what in terms of government programme is a policy decision. It is that of Mr. President through his ministers. The agencies simply execute directives, that is how government is run.
“The ministers are the political heads. They are the policy makers. So that (increase in slots) has not come from my desk.
“As a general rule, we have made certain allotment to different political office holders. However, local circumstances may require alteration of the formula as we move from state to state.”

Burna Boy has been heavily criticized by Nigerians on social media for rejecting a request to join the RevolutionNow protest.
Former presidential candidate, Omoyele Sowore had invited Burna to join the protest owing to his comparison with Fela Anikulapo Kuti.

Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has shown interest in the Ondo governorship election slated for October 10.
Consequently, he invited the immediate past governor Dr Olusegun Mimiko to his Hilltop country home in Abeokuta, the Ogun state capital to discuss political happenings ahead of the poll. Sources close to the former governor said that the meeting took place yesterday and the Ondo forthcoming election was discussed amongst other pressing national issues.
The meeting vanguard learnt was attended by other political leaders across the South West zone including two former governors, Olagunsoye Oyinlola, Osun and his Ogun counterpart, Gbenga Daniel.
It was gathered that the former President invited Mimiko following the political development in the state.
” The former President invited Mimiko following feelers he had received on the forthcoming election in Ondo state.

” President Obasanjo may ask Mimiko to allow the candidate of the PDP, Eyitayo Jegede to collapse his structure into that of the Zenith Labour Party which Mimiko is the national leader.
It was gathered that the non-committal of other governors on the platform of the PDP to the candidature of Jegede may have warranted the intervention of Chief Obasanjo.
Recall that only the Oyo state governor, Seyi Makinde and his counterpart from Sokoto state Aminu Tambuwal attended the Flag off rally of Jegede while other governors failed to attend.
Jegede choice of deputy despite criticism across the party was said to be a major factor for the displeasure within the party.
Many of the governorship aspirants that contested the primary with him are standing aloof because he jettisoned all appeal to pick his deputy amongst them.
The ongoing talks on alignments and realignments have seen many chieftains of both the APC and PDP in the state defecting to the ZLP to shore up support for its candidate Agboola Ajayi within the last few weeks.
Sources said that the dwindling fortune of the PDP may have warranted the intervention of the former President.
A source said that “Agboola’s increasing bloc popularity in Ondo South senatorial District, and Mimiko’s grip of the central portends that the PDP’s fate was sealed and instead of losing out totally, it was better Jegede collapsed his structure for Agboola and join forces with him to unseat Akeredolu who has also lost the confidence of the masses and his close allies in the APC.
“The feelers from the field for the PDP is not a good one. Apart from Akure where Jegede hails from, which LG can he boast of winning? Even Akure has been largely polarised among the three major parties. The only two PDP House of Assembly members are working for Agboola, ditto for all his co-contestants in the primaries and party chieftains who are working underneath for the ZLP,” the source revealed.
” We fear that with zoning arrangements not favourable to Jegede, a factor that contributed to his loss in 2016 and the underground support most PDP governors are giving Agboola, Jegede’s chances of winning the election gets dimmer.
“Ajayi is the only candidate from the south, a region whose clamour is nothing but a governor having spent just 6 years under late Olusegun Agagu.
“Jegede is from the central which enjoyed 8 years under Mimiko and the north has spent a cumulative 12 years under Adekunle Ajasin, Adebayo Adefarati and the incumbent, Rotimi Akeredolu.”
Contacted, the Head Media Research of Eyitayo Jegede campaign organisation Kayode Fasua said that his principal was not contemplating collapsing his structure into any political party.
Fasua said it is not true that Eyitayo Jegede SAN wants to collapse his structure into any other political party.
” lnfact he’s not even contemplating such. This is because he is sure of winning the October 10 governorship election.
” Eyitayo Jegede is the candidate to beat in the coming election. So forget all these talks about him collapsing his structure.
Also contacted, the media aide to Mimiko, John Paul Akinduro said ” I am not in the know, am presently in Akure working on amplifying the AgboGboye project in the media.
