Kiddwaya, Big Brother Naija lockdown housemate, has declared that his lover, Erica, was being disrespected by the other housemates because of Laycon.
Kiddwaya stated this during his diary session on Friday.
“I also felt people are trying to disrespect the Head of House, Erica and that this very unfair,” Kiddwaya said.
The Benue-born housemate has been protective of Erica who is just one strike away from being disqualified from the lockdown house.

He told Biggie that people are more respectful to the Head of House when other people are in that position, but tend to look down on Erica.
Kiddwaya said, “When there’s a lady involved…let me say when there’s Erica involved, they launch a behaviour, an approach towards her.”
According to him, this disrespect,” stems from if they like you or not. Maybe coming from previous conflicts, I believe she might have had with people. It goes down to Laycon as well, because I think is Vee that has the issue with Erica “

A 21-year-old man, Uchenna Chukwuma, said to be a pastor has supposedly killed a native doctor in Anambra State.
The suspect claimed he was divinely sent to kill the 60-year-old herbalist known as Chukwudi Ugwu.
The occurrence happened at Nkpor, near Onitsha, in the Idemili North Local Government Area of the state.
Chukwuma said the herbalist had been disturbing him spiritually, thereby hindering his progress.

The Spokesperson for the police in the state, Haruna Mohammed, said the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation.
He said,” There was a report of alleged murder of a native doctor, one Oliver Chukwudi Ugwu, 60, of Umusiome, Nkpor but hailed from Umuavor village Abor in the Udi Local Government Area of Enugu State by a self- acclaimed pastor one Uchenna Chukwuma, 21,  of Ugwuezue street, Umusiome Nkpor in the Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.
“He further said that the victim was disturbing him spiritually and had not allowed him to progress financially.

‌President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed sadness over the death of his family doctor, Dr Marliya Zayyana.
The late Zayyana was also the former Chairperson of the Governing Council, Federal University Dutsinma, Katsina State.
In a condolence message by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, in Abuja, on Friday, Buhari said the deceased was an outstanding medical professional.
The President maintained that “Marliya was not only a distinguished medical doctor, but she was also a woman of integrity as her tenure the Federal University Dutsinma had testified.”

He noted that “her demise is particularly touching because she was my family doctor in addition to the fact that her brother, Dr Suhayb Rafindadi, is also my personal physician.”
Buhari, therefore, described her death “as a personal loss because of our close association with her.”
The president extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, the Katsina Emirate Council and the Katsina State Government over what he called “the loss of this great, talented, dedicated and selfless medical professional.”

The mother of two also said it was funny that some people often think she’s not a graduate or cannot speak English because of her signature Warri’ pidgin.
In an interview, Asuoha said, “Childbirth gave me all my curves; it was after I had kids that I gained weight. I have never been shy of my curvy body. I love it and I have also been working on it so that I can be fit. I have been experiencing knee pains lately and that’s why I’m keeping fit. The plan is not to go skinny because I still love to be a ‘thick madam.’
“I am a fan of originality because I know that if you are original, you will do things effortlessly. Many people do certain things to stay relevant and it works for some of them. It also depends on your personality and the version of yourself that you’re selling. For example, I cannot present myself as a sexy person so much so that I will start wearing skimpy things and twerking online. My followers will be shocked because my brand does not depict that. But for some people, that is what resonates with them.

“Some people don’t know I can speak English fluently because of the way I speak ‘Warri Pidgin.’ Some people are also surprised that I went to school, let alone am a graduate. For example, I recently posted a throwback photo of when I was a corps member and I received some funny comments on Instagram.’’
The comedienne who said her husband was not bothered that she is a tomboy added that she did not agree that all celebrities were proud.
She said, “My husband does not caution me against any of the contents that I churn out. I’m really a 100 per cent tomboy and it doesn’t bother him.
“And as for me, a celebrity is not proud because he or she is famous. Unfortunately, I hear people say that about me. I know that I have not changed; people need to understand that once you become popular, you don’t change; you grow. There are some things that you won’t see them do anymore.
“Some family members and friends also don’t understand but I have come to understand that celebrities need to balance their lives because actions speak louder than words. You cannot convince everyone that you are humble. When I am in a bad mood and a fan enthusiastically says ‘hi,’ I greet them back well so I don’t appear proud. Thoughts like this are inevitable so one has to be very careful.”

The crisis rocking the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) took a new twist on Friday as the Hon. Ladi Adebutu’s faction took over the party’s secretariat from loyalists of late Senator Buruji Kashamu.
The takeover of the party secretariat in Abeokuta is coming less than a month after the death of Kashamu, whose loyalists have been occupying the building for almost five years.
It will be recalled that the two factions had earlier held parallel congresses to elect new state executive officers of the party.
The Adebutu faction has Hon. Sikirulahi Ogundele as its State Chairman, while the Kashamu faction is headed by Hon. Samson Bamgbose.

It was gathered that Adebutu and his group have the backing of the Uche Secondus-led PDP National Working Committee.
But, the late Senator Kashamu and his followers relied on a 2016 court judgement to conduct their congresses without the input of the PDP NWC.
The group said, “in line with the judgement of the Federal High Court, Lagos, in Suit No. FHC/L/CS/636/2016, the PDP Ward, Local Government and State Congresses were held in Ogun State on the 7th of March, 21st of March and 3rd of April 2020 respectively.”
Akinloye Bankole, the Publicity Secretary of the Adebutu PDP faction has confirmed the new development to our correspondent.
According to Akinloye, “the secretariat was handed over to the state Chairman, Alh. Sikirulahi Ogundele, on Friday afternoon by the (Ogun State) Commissioner of Police on the instructions of the IGP.”
Reacting, Hon. Samson Bamgbose, the Chairman of the Kashamu faction of the PDP in Ogun, frowned at what he termed the “illegal takeover” of the party secretariat on Friday, saying the action will be reversed in due course.
A statement issued on Friday by Bamgbose quoted him as saying that it was, “most disturbing that in a democracy, the Commissioner of Police in Ogun State, Mr. Edward Awolowo Ajogun, could allow himself and the Command to aid and abet some dissidents to invade and forcibly take over our Party Secretariat in flagrant disregard for valid and subsisting orders and judgements of courts.”
While urging his loyalists to remain law-abiding, Bamgbose expressed confidence that the action would be reversed in due course.
“We wish to implore our teeming supporters and party faithful to remain calm, knowing that this illegality like others before it will not stand the test of time and the law,” he said.

New Chelsea signing, Kai Havertz, has said that the club’s manager, Frank Lampard, was the person that convinced him to join the Blues from Bayer Leverkusen.
Havertz said that Lampard won him over to Chelsea because he loved him as a player and watched him very often during his playing days.
It was earlier reported that Havertz officially joined Chelsea from Leverkusen on a five-year deal on Friday.

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in Edo State has accused a National Commissioner of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Dr. Mustapha Leeky, of acting the script of a former National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and the opposition party in Edo State.
The PDP said there are plots to subvert the will of people of the State in the governorship election coming later in the month.
Spokesman of the PDP in the State, Chris Nehikhare, made the claim when he addressed journalists in Benin City, on Friday.
He said that INEC Chairman was working hand in hand with Oshiomhole and the candidate of the APC, Ize-Iyamu, to disrupt the process for the engagement of the various Ad-hoc staff to be used by INEC in the election.

“The time-honoured tradition which mandates that all political parties involved in the electioneering process submit names of persons to be used as Ad-hoc staff is being abused by Dr. Leeky and his collaborators in the APC,” he claimed.
“Dr. Leeky, it has been gathered, has skewed the process to ensure it favours one party, whereby the final list released for training of the adhoc staff has a ratio of 10:1, between the APC and all other parties”, Nehikhare said.
Among other claims, the party Chairman said that the Polling Officers (PO), who are supposed to be serving National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) members have been changed by the former Governor and Ize-Iyamu.
He said that instead of NYSC members, they now have people nominated by APC chieftains to fill these positions to actualize their plans to rig the election.

National Union of Road Transport Workers has asked the Federal Government to reverse the current increment in the price of petrol and electricity.
Kwara State Chairman of NURTW, Alhaji Abdulrazaq Ariwoola, while condemning the increase in fuel price on Friday, said it would cause hardship for the people.
Ariwoola lamented that those in the transportation business had yet to get out of the effect of the COVID-19 pandemic, before the government added “insult to injury of transport workers by increasing the pump price of fuel.”
He said that the government had previously assured the transport workers that it would reduce the fuel price, adding that the reverse is now the case.

“Government should immediately reverse the price of fuel if it does not want the transport workers to jerk up the transport fare. If the government insists on going with this policy, we in the transport business will have no alternative but to increase the transport fare for the passengers,” he said.
Also, the Executive Director, Community Outreach for Development and Welfare Advocacy, Mr Taiwo Otitolaye, said the hikes were condemnable, adding that the Federal Government was dancing to the dictate of the International Monetary Fund to deregulate the economy of Nigeria.
He said, “The price increase in fuel and electricity is meant to cause hardship for ordinary Nigerians who are already impoverished. The price increase will affect everyone including those in the rural areas.”

There was a mild drama on Friday evening during a debate organised by BBC News Pidgin for candidates in the September 19 Edo State Governorship Election as Governor Godwin Obaseki excused himself from the debate just at the beginning.
Obaseki, who is seeking re-election on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, had featured briefly in the virtual debate but stepped out to attend another meeting.
The governor asked the moderator and his co-panelists to allow his deputy, Philip Shaibu, to continue the debate in his stead.
This development drew the ire of the All Progressives Congress candidate, Osagie Ize-Iyamu, who objected to the idea, insisting that he would not debate with Shaibu.

Obaseki said, “First, I wan’ thank una say una invite me come this programme, make we debate among ourselves, make we fit talk wetin we wan do for the people of Edo State.
“But make I first start by apologising. You see, as I dey now, I no dey Benin. I had to travel on emergency this evening come somewhere. And the meeting dey very important. But abi tell una, so my deputy dey on ground. E no get anything wey I dey do wey im no know.
“So, I say out of respect, make I first do this opening round, I will rush go the meeting, and hopefully my deputy go continue.”
Reacting, Ize-Iyamu said, “Abeg make I talk small for wetin Governor Obaseki talk. This debate na for governorship candidates, no be wetin den dey delegate. If he no go fit stay, he no go fit stay.
“But say he wan’ comot make im deputy go come dey follow us debate, I no get hand for that one. If he no dey ready, make im no say, he no wan’ debate with us.
“But if he wants to debate, he has to stay but me no go sit down with im deputy. If na deputy own, I go call my deputy make im come talk with im deputy. No be me and im deputy dey debate, na governorship debate.”
Obaseki later left Ize-Iyamu and Jones Osagiobare of the Young Progressives Party to continue with the debate. His deputy, Shaibu, did not, however, feature at the debate but the governor resurfaced after about an hour, towards the end of the debate.
The two major candidates in the election had on Sunday shunned a governorship debate organisation by the Esan Development and Transformation Initiative which was moderated by the Senior Pastor of Lagos-based church Trinity House, Ituah Ighodalo.

Members of the Coalition for Civil Societies in Osun State Friday morning protested against the hike in electricity tariff and petrol price.
The protesters took off from Freedom Park, Osogbo around 8:30 am.
The protesters displayed placards showing their displeasure over the increase in electricity tariff and petrol price.
The protesters lamented that “approval of new electricity tariff and increment in the pump price of petrol is the highest level of insensitivity and wickedness from President Muhammad Buhari-led All Progressives Congress government.”

Petrol prices have increased for three straight months, rising from N121.50–N123.50 per litre in June to N140.80-N143.80 in July, N148-N150 in August and N158-N162 in September.
The Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation had, on Wednesday, increased the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to N151.56 per litre from N138.62 per litre but later reduced it to N147.67.
The ex-depot price is the price at which the product is sold to marketers at the depots.
It was earlier reported that in a surprise move, NERC approved an increase in electricity tariff with effect from September 1, 2020.
This comes three months after the tariff hike implementation slated for July 1 was halted by the National Assembly, which prevailed on the distribution companies to shelve the date to the first quarter of 2021 due to the current economic challenges in Nigeria.
A document seen by our correspondent on Tuesday showed that electricity customers, except those receiving less than 12 hours of supply, would have to pay more for electricity starting from September 1, 2020.

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors has threatened to begin another nationwide strike starting from September 7.
The association in a statement signed by the President, Dr Aliyu Sokomba; Secretary, Dr Bilqis Mohammad, and the Publicity Secretary, Dr Egbogu Stanley, said the strike would commence after the 21-day ultimatum it gave to the Federal Government elapsed on August 17.
The doctors are demanding from the Federal Government the implementation of residency funding, COVID-19 allowance, hazard allowance as well as the outstanding salary shortfall of 2014, 2015, and 2016.
On June 15, NARD had embarked on an indefinite strike. The strike was suspended on June 22 after the intervention on the Federal Government and other stakeholders in the health sector.
“NEC resolved to proceed on indefinite nationwide strike action from Monday 7th of September 2020 by 8:00am until the following conditions are met; immediate payment of the Medical Residency Training funding to all her members as approved in the revised 2020 budget; provision of genuine Group life insurance and death in service benefits for all health workers.
“Payment of the outstanding April/May and June COVID-19 inducement allowance to all health workers; determination of the revised hazard allowance for all health workers as agreed in previous meetings with relevant stakeholders; immediate payment of the salary shortfalls of 2014, 2015 and 2016.
“Doctors working under the various tertiary health institutions to be placed on appropriate salary grade level and universal implementation of the Medical Residency Training Act of 2017 in all state tertiary health institutions; payment of all arrears owed our members in Federal and states tertiary health institutions, arising from the consequential adjustment of the National minimum wage,” the statement read in part.

Nigerians have come hard on Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State for declaring support for the increase in the pump price of petrol.
Dapo Abiodun, after he met with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Aso Rock Villa on Thursday said there was no way petrol will remain at the same price if there is a rise in the price of crude oil.
The Governor’s comment was coming at a time Nigerians are berating the Federal Government for increasing the pump price of fuel.
According to Abiodun, the masses want to enjoy lower prices when the prices of crude are low, but they do no want to pay for what he called a “slight increase” when there is an increase in price of crude oil.

The Ogun State Governor believes that the price of crude oil is directly proportional to the price of refined products.
In their reactions, Nigerians berated Abiodun for taking such position at a time like this, when the masses are languishing in abject poverty, especially after the COVID-19 lockdown.
Nigerians, on the social media, said Abiodun will support the increase because he is not buying anything with his money, saying everything he needs is being supplied with taxpayers’ money.
In the same vein, some individuals were of the opinion that Abiodun was in support of the increase in the pump price of petrol because he is into oil and gas.

Three-time African champions Nigeria have arranged friendly matches against the Ivory Coast and Tunisia in Austria next month, officials said Thursday.
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick said the Super Eagles would face the Ivory Coast on October 9 and four days later take on Tunisia in another tie.
Due to postponements caused by the coronavirus pandemic, Nigeria last played in November 2019, a 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Lesotho in Maseru, which they won 4-2.
They are scheduled to also take on Sierra Leone in two qualifying matches for the 2021 Cup of Nations in November.

The matches were to have been played in March, but were rescheduled due to the virus.
Nigeria lead their qualifying group for the continental tournament, which will now be played in 2022 in Cameroon, with six points from two matches.

Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Hajia Sadiya Farouq, has given update on the payment of stipends to beneficiaries of N-Power.
Farouq on Thursday at the interactive forum with state focal persons for the Social Investment Programmes held in Abuja, appealed to beneficiaries of Batch B to be patient, adding that their payment is still being processed and would be implemented soon.
She added that the government is also working out plans to integrate beneficiaries of the batches A and B exited in June and July respectively.

Femi Adesina, Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari says only his principal has enough confidence to confront former President Olusegun Obasanjo, tell him his honest opinion on things “and survive it”.
Obasanjo and Buhari have a few things in common. Obasanjo was Nigeria’s military head of state between February 13, 1976, and September 30, 1979. He later became a civilian President from May 29, 1999, to May 29, 2007. Buhari also ruled as military head of state from December 31, 1983, to August 27, 1985, before returning as a democratically elected leader on May 29, 2015.
Adesina, in a piece titled, ‘Buhari Applause For Akinwumi Adesina’, compared Obasanjo to “America and some other world powers”, adding that “you have every right to shiver in the broiling sun” when they come after you.
But the President’s spokesperson, in the piece published on his website on Friday, said, “President Buhari stood against the wishes of America on AfDB Presidency” and supported the re-election bid of African Development Bank President, Akinwumi Adesina.

It had earlier reported that the African banking institution and its President were in the eye of the storm earlier this year over allegations of impropriety levelled against Akinwumi Adesina by some whistleblowers working in the bank.
However, the 60-year-old former Nigerian minister of Agriculture, who became the first Nigerian to helm the AfDB in 2015, had insisted he was “innocent” of the charges.
The bank’s Ethics’ Committee, which first investigated the allegations, gave him a clean bill that was accepted by the Board of Governors but the United States outrightly rejected the report and demanded a fresh probe by an independent body.
The independent panel headed by former Irish President, Mary Robinson, also cleared all allegations levelled against the AfDB President.
Akinwumi Adesina was then sworn in on September 01, 2020, for another five-year term after getting a 100 percent vote of all regional and non-regional members of the Bank.
Commenting on the development, Buhari’s spokesperson wrote, “The strife is o’er, the battle done. But it was by no means easy. It took so much: tact, diplomacy, guts, deft footworks, prayers, yes, prayers, and so many other things.
“But today, we can noise it all around. Dr Akinwumi Adesina is now elected for another five-year term as President of the African Development Bank.
“If America and some other world powers come after you, you have every right to shiver in the broiling sun. It’s like Chief Olusegun Obasanjo telling you to dismount from the horse of leadership in Nigeria. Only a Muhammadu Buhari can look him straight in the eyes, and say; No sir. And survive it.”
Quoting Buhari’s reaction to Akinwumi Adesina’s victory, the President’s spokesperson said, “He (Adesina) deserves it (re-election as AfDB president).”
He, however, noted that Buhari would not have supported the AfDB President if “Adesina had peradventure been tainted with the slightest whiff of corruption or any other unethical act.”

Fuel marketers across the country adjusted their pump prices on Thursday to between N158 and N162 per litre of petrol, saying a further increase in global crude oil prices would push the pump price of petrol higher. 
Petrol prices have increased for three straight months, rising from N121.50–N123.50 per litre in June to N140.80-N143.80 in July, N148-N150 in August and N158-N162 in September. 
<a name='more' id="more"></a>The Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation had, on Wednesday, increased the ex-depot price of Premium Motor Spirit (petrol) to N151.56 per litre from N138.62 per litre but later reduced it to N147.67 
The ex-depot price is the price at which the product is sold to marketers at the depots. 
When the collapse of global crude oil prices triggered the reduction of the pump price of petrol from N145 per litre to N125 in March, the Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency said it would advise the NNPC and oil marketing companies on the monthly “guiding retail price” at which the product shall be sold across the country. 
The Minister of State Petroleum Resources, Timipre Sylva, in a statement on May 15, said deregulation was approved on March 19 this year. 
“But as you all know, PMS and other petroleum products are very strategic commodities, so you cannot allow the prices of these commodities to be determined wholly by the marketers,” he added. 
In June, the Executive Secretary, PPPRA, Abdulkadir Saidu, said, “For the avoidance of doubt, it is instructive to state that no private individual or group has the mandate to fix prices of petroleum products, however, the statutory regulatory body is saddled with the responsibility of advising guiding prices.” 
But the PPPRA failed to issue any guiding prices in August and September and has remained silent since then, despite repeated calls and messages sent to the agency by one of our correspondents on the issue. 
The spokesperson of the agency, Kimchi Apollo, however, told our correspondent on Thursday that he would get information on the development and revert. He had yet to do so as of the time of filing this report. 
The National Operations Controller, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr Mike Osatuyi, told one of our correspondents that the increase in petrol pump prices was a reflection of the global oil prices. 
“In July, the crude oil price was around $43 per barrel. But rose to about $44-$45 in August. Last Monday, it increased to $46. If the crude oil price falls to $40, petrol prices will come down. But if it goes up to $50, we should be expecting petrol price to rise to about N163 per litre if the exchange rate remains the same,” he said. 
Osatuyi stressed the need for government to create a level playing field by allowing marketers to also have access to foreign exchange at the official rate like the NNPC to enable them to import products. 
The Chairman, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr Adetunji Oyebanji, said earlier on Thursday that pump prices would have to be adjusted to reflect realities of the increase of ex-depot prices by PPMC. 
“However, the magnitude of the increase, timing and location is a decision left to each company. Consistent with global best practices, MOMAN does not dictate prices to its members as this would be anti-competition in a fully deregulated market. 
“We welcome government’s action in allowing the market to determine prices, as we believe it will prevent the return of subsidies, while allowing operators the opportunity to recover their costs. This will, in the long run, encourage investment and create jobs,” he added. 
But a groundswell of public opposition across the country have greeted the hike in petrol prices. 
TUC says government action wicked, demands immediate reversal 
The Trade Union Congress of Nigeria condemned the increase in petrol price and electricity tariff in the country. 
In a statement titled, ‘Killing the dead,’ and signed by its president, Quadri Olaleye, and Secretary-General, Musa-Lawal Ozigi, the TUC said, “Like the book by George Orwell, titled ‘1884’, the government and its agencies have resorted to doing the opposite of what they were set up to do. 
“Government, instead of providing welfare, is killing the people systematically.” 
It said increasing petrol prices and electricity tariffs, among others, “at a time people are losing jobs, businesses are not moving in the light of COVID-19, is, to say the least, wicked.” 
The union said, “In droves, Nigerians flee the shores of this country. Just two days ago, we protested the hike in electricity tariff and sadly, yesterday, they slammed us with fuel [price] hike at a time countries like Ghana and Canada are giving out palliatives to cushion the effects of coronavirus pandemic. It is difficult to cope in this circumstance. 
“Do we still wonder why unemployment and insecurity have increased? This is disgustingly shameful. We urge the government to listen to the voice of reason and reverse the [petrol] price immediately. 
“Stop pushing Nigerians to the wall. This is too daring. The congress is calling a meeting of its organs to take decisions on this obnoxious move. The dead are dying again; stop killing the dead!” 
We can’t fund petrol subsidy, says FG 
The Federal Government said on Thursday that it lacked funds to subsidise the cost of PMS. 
The minister, Sylva, told journalists that since the introduction of the deregulation policy, Nigeria had saved about N1tn. 
He said the saving came following the removal of subsidy and the expulsion of N500bn earmarked for subsidy payments in the 2020 budget, adding that the removal of foreign exchange differentials also saved the country about N500bn. 
Sylva further revealed that plans to merge the PPPRA and the Petroleum Equalisation Fund into one agency called “The Authority,” had reached an advanced stage. 
He assured Nigerians that the government was working hard to address the concerns in the downstream oil and gas sector. 
He said, “It became necessary that the country cannot sustain subsidy payments, hence the decision to deregulate. Government has stopped subsidising petrol at the pump. 
“It will now play its traditional role of protecting consumers from exploitation by ensuring that marketers do not profiteer at the expense of ordinary Nigerians and consumers of the product.” 
Sylva said the government had stepped back in terms of price fixing for petrol, adding that market forces and crude oil price would continue to determine the cost of PMS.

The convict was said to have committed blasphemy against the Prophet in a song that went viral via WhatsApp in March 2020.
The Shari’a court, presided over by Khadi Aliyu Muhammad Kani, found him guilty of the charge and ordered him to be hanged until he dies.

Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje said he would sign the death warrant, if the convict failed to appeal the judgment within the 30 days of his right of appeal.
The singer was sentenced to death on August 10 and he has five days to file an appeal.
The NBA, which said the singer had been denied access to lawyers, yesterday sent a delegation to Kano State for “fact-finding”.
NBA First Vice-President John Aikpokpo-Martins said: “My visit to Kano further confirms the fact that Sharif-Aminu’s fundamental human rights have been suppressed.”
Also, Kano State Judiciary has said it had submitted certified copies of the Sharia Court judgment to activist-lawyer, Mr. Femi Falana, to enable him appeal the death sentence passed on the singer.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the development came less than seven days to the expiration of the 30-day grace the court granted the convict to appeal the judgment.
The Judiciary spokesman Babajibo Ibrahim stated this Thursday in Kano in an interview with NAN.
Ibrahim said: “The Judiciary received a request from Mr. Falana’s representative on Tuesday and certified copies of the judgment were made available to him on Wednesday,” he said.

Manchester United’s new signing Donny van de Beek has revealed he will wear shirt number 34 in honour of former Ajax team-mate Abdelhak Nouri, who suffered brain damage after an on-pitch heart attack.
United on Wednesday announced they had completed a deal for the Netherlands international worth a reported initial 39 million euros ($46 million).
Nouri, now 23, suffered brain damage while playing for Ajax in a pre-season game in Austria in 2017.
Van De Beek, also 23, explained why he had chosen shirt number 34 in an interview on United’s official website.

“This is a special thing for me because my good friend Abdelhak Nouri… maybe you know the story, he had a heart attack and he’s a good friend of mine.
“I’m really close with his family and his brother is one of my best friends and I talk a lot with them.

Van de Beek, who has signed a five-year deal at Old Trafford, is Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first signing of the summer transfer window.

Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki and his major challenger, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, yesterday, embraced each other for the first time in many months.
Before the meeting of the key political actors at the Oba of Benin palace on Wednesday, there have been weeks of heated tension in the state as a result of the activities of the two leading political parties in Edo, the All Progressives Congress, APC, and the ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP.
The Oba of Benin, Ewuare II, took a bold step to end the trend of violence in the State, with the series of attacks and counter-attacks during campaign rallies.
The peace meeting had the presence of various leaders of the PDP and the APC in Edo at his palace.

The immediate past Governor of the State, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, his predecessor, John Oyegun, the PDP candidate, Obaseki, the APC flagbearer, Ize-Iyamu, and the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, among other political actors, were the notable faces at the meeting.
Obaseki and his main challenger, Ize-Iyamu went before the monarch to pay homage shortly after all the attendees were seated.
The revered monarch urged all political actors in the State to sheath their swords and demanded words of assurance that peace would be maintained before, during, and after the election.
The monarch asked the political office seekers to emulate former President Goodluck Jonathan who conceded defeat to President Muhammadu Buhari in the 2015 general elections even before the results were announced.
“To me, they (the political actors in Edo) are all one family, and what cannot be resolved when you are all family?
“Family can quarrel but there must be a resolution. Today, that is what I want us to achieve; there must be a resolution,” the monarch stated.
In their various responses, the Governor and his main challenger promised His Royal Majesty that they would make peace their watchword going forward.
“I want to assure you, Your Majesty, that in my role as the Chief Security Officer of the state, I am doing all I can, all within my possible best to maintain peace and safety in Edo State,” Obaseki told the Oba of Benin.
Ize-Iyamu, on his part, said, “Every campaign we do henceforth, we are going to spend some time to also talk to all of them (party supporters) about the need to keep to the peace, no matter what provocation they might talk about.”
At this point, the PDP and APC candidates, Obaseki and Ize-Iyamu came together and embraced each other, in a bid to send out a message to their supporters and make good the assurances given to the traditional ruler.

President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday said the Federal Government will continue to monitor the activities of terrorists online to control radicalisation of Nigerians by terrorist groups and other violent cells.
Buhari explained that this was important following the huge traffic online and growing constraints on physical contacts and movements due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.
He made the remarks on Wednesday in Abuja, while participating at the AQABA Process virtual meeting in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.
“It is important to state that the spread of COVID-19 has led to the movement of activities to cyberspace,” the President was quoted as saying in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

He added, “Furthermore, lockdown policies and restrictions of movement in affected areas means that people would move their day to day social and business activities to cyberspace.
“This, however, comes with an increase in the risk of individuals being radicalised online.”
The president also said the Federal Government would sustain efforts to make adjustments to new lifestyles and be sensitive to the security underpinnings, as experts try to find vaccines for COVID-19 and a possible acceptable cure.
He noted that Nigeria developed a robust framework led by the Presidential Task Force (PTF) on COVID-19 to coordinate and oversee the country’s multi-sectoral inter-governmental efforts at containing the spread and mitigating the impact of the pandemic.
“This was done while currently monitoring the effects of the measures and taking steps to mitigate these effects as quickly as possible. This was in a bid to ensure sustained human security across the population.
“Earlier, we had established the National Humanitarian Coordination Committee with the responsibility of providing among others, a national vision for humanitarian actors and settling disputes that may arise from interactions between security services and the humanitarian community.
“This committee was timely as a stop-gap measure in coping with the effects of COVID-19,” the President told the meeting.

Hollywood actor, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has revealed that he and his family members had all tested positive for the coronavirus.
The world’s highest-paid actor revealed this in a video shared on his Instagram page.
The Rock said he, his wife and two daughters got infected with the virus from a close family friend despite being “disciplined” about health protection.
“The positive tests were a kick in the gut,” he said.

He, however, added that they have all recovered.
“We are on the other end of it and no longer contagious. Thank God, we are all healthy,” he said.
The actor stressed that the two weeks his wife Lauren, and daughters Jasmine and Tiana, aged four and two, contracted COVID-19 has been the most challenging time his family had to endure.
“Testing positive for Coronavirus is a lot different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times,” he added.
He warned the general public to stop making the idea of wearing masks as a political agenda, adding that it has nothing to do with politics but the right thing to do.
“My number 1 priority now is to always protect my family.
“We are counting our blessings right now because we are all aware that it is not always the case that you get on the other end of COVID-19 stronger and healthier,” his post noted.

‌Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden raised more than $364 million in August, reportedly breaking the record for monthly campaign donations even though his fundraising efforts were largely online because of the coronavirus pandemic.
The former vice president and the Democratic National Committee pulled in a total of $364.5 million, of which $205 million were pledged online from small donors, his campaign team said Wednesday.
The previous record was set by Barack Obama and the DNC in September 2008, when he raised almost $200 million, according to CBS and New York Times reports.
“That figure blows me away,” said the 77-year-old Biden in a statement thanking his supporters.

“Over $205 million, or 57 percent of the money we raised, came from online donations, from people like you, chipping in $5, $10, $20 at a time,” the candidate added.
Having prepared his re-election campaign since he arrived in the White House in early 2017, 74-year-old President Donald Trump still has a larger overall war chest, but Biden has been drawing in ever larger sums since winning the Democratic primary in April.
“We have to keep breaking records if we want to ensure a fighting chance at winning this thing,” Biden urged his supporters.
“Trump’s money machine remains and it’s bolstered by outside, dark money — not grassroots donors like all of you,” Biden said.
“And you better believe they will pour it all into attacks and smears against me, against Kamala, and against our campaign.”
Biden’s pick of California Senator Kamala Harris as his running mate, making her the woman of color on a major party presidential ticket, fired up his donor base, raising $26 million in 24 hours, Biden revealed on August 12.
In July, Trump and the Republic National Committee raised $165 million, against $140 million for the Democrats the same month.

The Maiduguri Zonal Office of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission said it had re-arraigned the Chief Executive Officer of Complete Care and Aid Foundation, Aisha Alkali Wakil, popularly known as Mama Boko Haram.
Mama Boko Haram was said to have been re-arraigned on Tuesday before Justice Aisha Kumaliya of the Borno State High Court in Maiduguri, on amended four counts bordering on conspiracy, giving false information, and cheating to the tune of N6 million.
At the sitting, prosecution counsel, Mukhtar Ali Ahmad, informed the court of a pending amended charge and urged the court to strike out the earlier charges filed on March 3 and 10, 2020, and substitute it with that of March 18, 2020.
A statement on Wednesday by the Head, Media, and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Dele Oyewale, indicated that Justice Kumaliya substituted the charges and ordered them to be read to the defendants.

One of the charges read, “That you, Aisha Alkali Wakil, Tahiru Alhaji Saidu Daura and Prince Lawal Shoyode, whilst being chief executive officer, programme manager and country director respectively, of Complete Care and Aid Foundation (NGO), sometime between October and November, 2018 at Maiduguri, Borno State, within the jurisdiction of this honourable court, dishonestly induced one Alhaji Bukar Kachalla of Abks Ventures Limited to deliver to you a Toyota Camry 2012 Model worth N6m only under the guise of executing a contract for the purchase of the said car and thereby committed an offence contrary to Section 320 (a) and punishable under Section 332 of the Penal Code Cap 102 Laws of Borno State.”
They pleaded not guilty, following which counsel for the second and third defendants, H. Waziri, prayed the court for an adjournment to enable him to study the new charges with a view to applying for a plea bargain agreement with the EFCC.
Consequently, Justice Kumaliya adjourned the matter till September 16, 2020 for commencement of trial
Mama Boko Haram was originally arraigned, alongside the Programme Manager of her Foundation, Tahiru Daura and the Country Director, Lawal Shoyode on December 4, 2019. Their trial followed their no-guilty plea to the charges.

More woes for Nigerians as petrol price increase to N160/Litre

The pump price of the Premium Motor Spirit, also known as petrol, appears set to hit N160 per litre as the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation has increased the price at which it sells the product to marketers from N138.62 per litre to N147.67. 
 
The Petroleum Products Marketing Company, a subsidiary of the NNPC, had initially on Wednesday increased the ex-depot price of the PMS to N151.56 per litre, with marketers saying the product would be sold at between N162 and N165 per litre. 
<a name='more' id="more"></a>The ex-depot price is the price at which the product is sold to marketers at the depots. 
The N151.56 ex-depot price was announced in an internal memo to all stakeholders with reference number PPMC/IB/LS/020 dated September 2, 2020 and signed by D.O Abalaka. 
 
The memo, a copy of which was seen by one of our correspondents, said, “Please be informed that a new product price adjustment has been effected on our payment platform. 
 
“To this end, the price of Premium Motor Spirit is now one hundred and fifty-one naira, fifty-six kobo (N151.56k) per litre. This is effective from September 2, 2020.” 
 
But the PPMC, in another internal memo dated September 2, 2020 with reference number PPMC/MOD/Sales/346 and signed by Onya Schola, reduced the ex-depot price to N147.67 per litre. 
 
When the ex-depot price was fixed at N138.62 in August, marketers were selling petrol at between N148 and N150 per litre. With a new ex-depot price of N147.67 per litre, the pump price may be between N157 and N160 per litre. 
 
Amidst the different ex-depot prices, the Managing Director of the  PPMC, Musa Lawal, told one of our correspondents that the first ex-depot price was wrong and should be discarded. 
 
He said the company was investigating how the first memo went out, stressing that although it was from the PPMC, the figures were still being computed and had not been concluded. 
“That is not authentic. It is wrong and there is a price review which shall be communicated properly, but what came out early today is the wrong one,” Lawal stated. 
Asked to provide the correct one, he replied, “The one that I saw today on the website of one of the dailies is the wrong one. As we speak the circumstances under which that happened are being investigated. 
“However, I cannot tell you more than this as the PPPRA (Petroleum Products Pricing Regulatory Agency) is the one to fix prices because we sell based on the guiding price from them.” 
But the PPPRA on Wednesday decided to stay mute, as it did in August when the ex-depot price for the PMS was released by the PPMC. 
Its spokesperson, Kimchi Apollo, did not answer calls nor replied a text on the matter. 
The PPPRA’s silence on petrol price is contrary to what it said in March. 
The agency had stated that it would be issuing a  monthly guiding price for petrol, but in August it did not issue any and had remained mute since then. 
Meanwhile, oil marketers told  newsmen  that going by the circulating ex-depot prices for petrol, the pump price for the commodity should hit between N160 to N162/litre. 
 
They also stated that loading of products had stopped at some depots, as marketers were confused on which price to either buy or sell the commodity. 
 
Up till 8pm on Wednesday, officials of the Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria stated that no authentic communication had been received from either the PPPRA of the  PPMC on the pump price or ex-depot price of petrol. 
 
“Loading has stopped in some depots because of this confusion caused by the price modulation of guiding exercise introduced by the PPPRA and up till now we’ve not received any notice on either the ex-depot price or pump price,” the National Public Relations Officer of IPMAN, Ukadike Chinedu, stated. 
 
But the Zonal Chairman, Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria, South- West, Mr Dele Tajudeen, told one of our correspondents that the association had decided that the pump price would be N162 per litre when the ex-depot price was increased to N151.56. 
 
Asked what the pump price would be following the reduction of the ex-depot price to N147.67, he said the association would decide on that later on Wednesday if the ex-depot price remained the same. 
 
“We will add whatever the NNPC has added to our buying price to our selling price,” Tajudeen added. 
 
Petrol price was increased by marketers to between N148 and N150/litre in August from a band of N140.80 to N143.80. 
 
Following the  announcement of the new depot price, many filing stations in Ogun and Lagos states were shut on Wednesday  as marketers awaited further clarifications from the PPMC. 
 
The Federal Government increased the petrol price a day after power distribution companies hiked electricity tariffs across the country. 
 
The  petrol price  hike generated angry reactions from the Nigeria Labour Congress,  Manufacturers Association of Nigeria and other major groups in the country on Wednesday. 
 Small businesses will be hard hit,  MAN warns 
 
The acting Director-General, Manufacturing Association of Nigeria, Mr Ambrose Oruche, in an interview with one of our correspondents,  said the poor and small businesses that depended on the  PMS to power their generators would be hard hit. 
 
He said it was important for the government to introduce measures to cushion the effect of the deregulation in the sector. 
 
Oruche stated, “To reduce the impact, government should do more in ensuring power generation is big and distribution is efficient, and ensure that people get at least 20 hours of light in a day to reduce dependence on the PMS. 
“Government should find a way of compensating the SMEs to stay in business through tax rebates or grants to remain in business and stay competitive.” 
Nigerians are being taken for granted by this govt – NLC 
But the Nigeria Labour Congress said by increasing the fuel pump  price  three times within three months,  the Federal Government was taking Nigerians for granted. 
 
The NLC President,  Ayuba Wabba, said the union could  no longer guarantee industrial harmony in view of the development. 
He said Nigerians and the NLC were shocked by the price increase,   “coming at a time when many Nigerians are passing through very peculiar and precarious times. 
 
“It’s like Nigerians are being taken for a ride; the increase in price of petroleum is like adding salt to injury. 
“The increase in price of petroleum has happened now more than three times in three months. Only yesterday (Tuesday), they hiked the tariff of electricity. To compound it,  they also reduced the interest rate on savings which affected mostly the poor and the vulnerable. 
“While rejecting this in the strongest terms, I think Nigerian government is taking Nigerians for granted.” 
The congress noted that the government had betrayed the trust of Nigerians and left them vulnerable to economic ravages. 
 
I warned Nigerians – Fayose 
A  former Ekiti State Governor, Mr Ayodele Fayose, tweeted that  the increase was ludicrous particularly coming at a time the whole world was busy finding solutions to the COVID-19 .

On its part, the minority caucus in the House of Representatives condemned the increase in pump price of petrol. 
 
The Minority Leader of the House, Ndidu Elumelu, in a statement  on Wednesday and titled, ‘Reps caucus demands halt in N151 fuel price increase,’ described the increment as unacceptable. 
He warned that it would result in increase in the already high cost of consumer goods and services and worsen the current economic hardships being suffered by Nigerians. 
A former President of the  Committee for the Defence of Human Rights, Malachy Ugwumadu, in a chat with one of our correspondents, said the price hike was ill-timed. 
He said, “At a time when Nigerians are still reeling under the  weight and pains occasioned by COVID-19 pandemic, the time is certainly wrong. Coming on the heels of the hike in electricity tariff renders it both ill- timed and  insensitive.” 
 
The Convener of  the Concerned Nigeria group, Deji Adeyanju,  said the price increase was  ill-advised and anti-people. 
 
In an interview with newsmen, Adeyanju said, “The common man can hardly breathe.  Buhari now has his hands tightfisted on Nigerians. He wants to make sure that people can no longer survive. 
 
“How do you explain a situation where the country is sinking and going down? The country practically relies on loans to fund its own budget and service its debt.” 
 
It’s callous – PDP 
 
The Peoples Democratic Party also rejected the  increase in the price of petrol as well as the hike in the electricity tariffs . The main opposition party described the increases as callous and unjustifiable. 
 
This was contained in a statement titled ‘PDP rejects N151 fuel price, hike in electricity tariff…Says APC is punishing Nigerians,’  signed by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Kola Ologbondiyan, in Abuja, on Wednesday. 
 
While demanding  an immediate reversal of the prices to avert a national crisis, the party said,  “The increase will result in upsurge in costs of goods and services and worsen the biting hardship being faced by Nigerians, who are already impoverished and overburdened  by APC-imposed high cost of living in the last five years.” 
 
In its response, the APC,  in a statement titled, “APC to PDP: cajole your cronies to  return stolen fuel subsidy loot,” signed by its Deputy National Publicity,  Yekini Nabena, dismissed the PDP as “shameless.” 
 
It challenged the PDP to come clean of allegations of several years of the pillage of the nation’s resources under the guise of its corruption-tainted fuel subsidy regime. 
 
A foremost economist and Managing Director of Financial Derivatives Company Limited, Mr Bismarck Rewane,  in an interview with It was noted that while the rise in global oil prices meant increased revenue from crude oil sales, it would also lead to an increase in the price of petroleum products. 
 
Noting that people’s disposable incomes and productivity had not increased, he said petrol price hike would add more pressure to consumers. 
 
“Until our refineries are fixed or when Dangote refinery comes on stream, the country will continue to have this challenge. Let us manage to minimise the increase in petrol price so that people won’t suffer,” he said. 
 
The Chairman, Major Oil Marketers Association of Nigeria, Mr Adetunji Oyebanji, had said on Tuesday that the pump price of petrol should be significantly higher than N148 per litre. 
 
Oyebanji, who spoke on CNBC Africa on Tuesday, said, “If you look at the template the PPPRA has been using in setting prices, you will find that if you just apply even the official exchange rate for the month of August, prices at the pump should be significantly higher that where there are today.”

A suspected Indian hemp farmer, Clement Akor, has begged the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency to take his life instead of destroying his 10-hectare cannabis plantation.

Akor, a 42-year-old father of six from Enabo village in the Ankpa Local Government Area of Kogi State, and his accomplice, David Ameh, were arrested by the Kogi State Command of the NDLEA.
 
Akor, who claimed to have invested so much in the business and could not afford to lose everything, said he learnt dealing in Indian hemp from Owo, Ondo State.
 
The suspect, who cried profusely and attempted to stop the men of the NDLEA, led by the commander, Alfred Adewumi, from destroying his farm in Oketepe, Okula community, about 10 kilometres from Ejule, said he preferred to die than watch the officers destroy what he worked hard for in the last one year.
He noted that he was aware of the ban on the sale of Indian hemp, but insisted that it was a risky business.
Akor stated, “I am the owner of this farm. I learnt it in Yorubaland. When I cultivated the produce last year, it was stolen. So, this year, I bought the seed from Yorubaland and planted it before I was caught.
“The Indian hemp business is by luck. In this farm, I can get many bags. I do sell one bag for N20,000, depending on the area where I am selling it to. It can be me more. I spent N12,000 on cultivating this farm. It is better for you people to kill me than destroy this farm.”
“This is my business. I spent a lot to allow this plant to grow up to this level. In the next two weeks, I am supposed to harvest it. Now, you people have come here to destroy it. Just kill me so that I won’t see you people destroying what I have laboured for. I am looking for money because I am illiterate. I don’t want to engage in armed robbery or kidnapping, that is why I am into this business of Indian hemp cultivation and sale.”
Adewumi, however, calmed him down but insisted that the war against illicit drug use was on course in the state.
Addressing journalists shortly after the destruction of the farm, Adewumi lamented the increasing wave of cultivation illicit and use of cannabis sativa in the state.
He stated that the two suspects were arrested through intelligent gathering by officers of his command.
The commander noted that the latest breakthrough came three days after the command arrested Endurance Samson and Abah Sunday for alleged possession of 36.2 kilograms of Indian hemp.
Adewumi stated, “What you are seeing today is certainly more than three football fields put together.  Just look around that is a huge expanse of cultivated cannabis land. We just left the first farm, which is equally a huge cannabis plantation.
“This is very unfortunate. I am worried about this unfortunate development. I have thought that Kogi State will not descend to this point. As things stand today, it will be self denial to begin to say that Kogi State is not planting cannabis sativa, because the evidence itself suggests the fact that there is high rate of cannabis sativa cultivation in the state.”
He added that the suspects would be charged as soon as investigation was concluded into the case.

The NLC president said that to compound the issue, the CBN also reduced the interest rate of savings which affects mostly the poor and the vulnerable.
“The organised labour therefore rejects the increase in price of the product in the strongest terms.”
According to him, at the end of the day, Nigerians are becoming poorer and poorer, in fact many people are already on the edge. Many workers are already on the edge.”
“Certainly, we cannot guarantee industrial peace and harmony, and we will have to call our organs and we will have to also react but we reject it in its entirety.
“They have betrayed the trust of Nigerians, for Nigerians to be protected against the economic challenge that is affecting us,” he said,
The Pipelines and Product Marketing Company (PPMC), a subsidiary of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation, (NNPC) in a statement announced that the new price adjustment effective from Sept. 2.
PPMC increased the ex-depot price from N138 to N152. This serves as basis for an increase in the retail price by marketers
IPMAN has told its members to sell the fuel at N162.
The last price increase was on Aug. 5, when the price moved from N143.50 to N148.50 per litre..
Some filling stations in Abuja sold petrol for N161 per litre on Wednesday.
Also reacting, Prof. Uche Uwaleke, Professor of Finance and Capital Market, Nasarawa State University, told NAN that the new price will heighten inflationary pressure in the country.
“This is clearly a downside risk to inflation.
“In the coming months, I expect inflationary pressure to heighten as crude oil price recovery in the international market necessitates a hike in domestic pump price of imported fuel.
“This situation will be compounded by naira devaluation,” he said.
Uwaleke, also a former Imo Commissioner for Finance said that to save the situation, the alternative would have been petrol subsidy.
According to him, government cannot afford it now as it not provided for in the 2020 budget.
“Again, expecting a government already saddled with huge debt to borrow to subsidise price of petrol does not make economic sense.
“With all the economic headwinds, there is no question about a spike in cost of living in the coming months,” he said.
He noted that the only solution was for government to ensure the passage of the Petroleum Industry Bill (PIB).
“The solution remains passing the Petroleum Industry Bill into law to pave way for investors in the oil refining sector which will put a stop to import of petroleum products well before Dangote refinery takes off to fill the gap,” he said.

The Presidency on Wednesday disclosed that those who work around President Muhammadu Buhari are routinely tested for COVID-19.
This, it said, was based on the directive of doctors and scientists.
The Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement titled, ‘Ignore scaremongers -Presidency’.
Shehu was reacting to a report by an unnamed online news medium which he said reported that Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant, Social Affairs and Domestic Matters, Sarki Abba, tested positive for the virus.

The presidential aide said contrary to the report, Abba has always been testing negative for the virus during the routine tests.
The statement partly read, “The Presidency wishes to advise Nigerians to ignore determined agents of fake news bent on spreading false stories to the public.
“We react to the utter falsehood and disgraceful lies, a report by so-called digital newspaper which, Wednesday, claimed that President Muhammadu Buhari’s aide, Sarki Abba is COVID-19 positive.
“This report is sheer fabrication and brazen effort by the online news medium to mislead the public.
“Upon the directive of doctors and scientists and supervision of Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff, all staff working for and around the President, are routinely and rigorously checked for the virus. The Senior Special Assistant, Social Affairs and Domestic Matters, Sarki Abba, always tested negative.
“The general public is hereby advised to ignore such stories that are intended to mislead the people and create unnecessary anxiety about the safety of the President.”

Sam Amadi, a former Chairman of the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) has advised security operatives to safeguard their lives.
He said this in reaction to an accident that involved the convoy of a former All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Adams Oshiomhole.

In his reaction, Amadi said recklessness caused the loss of lives.
He advised security agents to always use seat belt to avoid fatal consequences.
Amadi wrote on his Facebook page: “Every time VIPs have road accidents, police officers die. This is because they don’t put seat-belts on so as to jump out quick to clear the road for jaga-jaga.
“This is costly behavior. Police officers and security details attached to so-called VIPs should save their lives. They should put their seat-belts on while on road trips.”
