<p>Samuel Aruwan, Commissioner, Ministry of Internal Security and Home Affairs, Kaduna State, has said that the Military and Police authorities have reported to the Kaduna State Government that over 20 citizens were killed during attacks by bandits on several villages in Giwa local government area. </p>
<p>According to the report, bandits attacked Kauran Fawa, Marke and Riheya villages in Idasu, Giwa LGA, leaving more than 20 residents dead as of the time of this update. </p>

<p>Houses, trucks, and cars were also burnt, along with agricultural produce at various farms.</p>
<p>Governor Nasir El-Rufai received the reports with sadness, sent condolences to the families of the victims of the brutal attacks while praying for the repose of their souls. The Governor also commiserated with the affected communities and directed the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency to conduct an urgent assessment of the area towards providing relief. </p>
<p>The identities of the victims will be published once further details are confirmed by the Kaduna State Government. In the meantime, security agencies have sustained patrols in the general area.</p>

<p>Nigerian Starboy, Wizkid, on Friday night, experienced a mild drama at his concert in Abuja.</p>

<p>Wizkid ‘’Live in concert’ held on Friday night at Transcorp Hilton.</p>

<p>While on stage, an excited fan held one of his legs and refused to let go.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>This caused a mild drama as fans started screaming and bodyguards struggled to release Wizkid’s leg to avoid a fall on stage.</p>

<p>However, it was unsuccessful for some minutes as Wizkid fell on stage while the fan held onto the leg.</p>

<p>Recall that Wizkid made record in London after he sold out tickets for his concert at the o2 Arena in London.</p>

<p>One of his tracks from his ‘Made in Lagos’ album ‘Essence’ has continued to make waves across the world as celebrities dance and vibe to it.</p>

<p>It is not new that 2021 was a great year for Wizkid as his international audience grew massively, his songs topped billboard charts, he recorded massive streams on his album and endorsements.</p>

<p>President Muhammadu Buhari is set to sign the amended National Health Insurance Scheme (Repeal and Re-enactment) Bill into law, according to the Chairman, the Senate Committee on Health, Senator Ibrahim Oloriegbe.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>Oloriegbe said this on Friday in Abuja during the Universal Health Coverage summit adding that the House of Representatives will pass the bill in the coming week.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>He said, “The president is willing to sign it into law now. The House of Representatives will pass it next week. It will then be transmitted to President Buhari for assent in the next few days. The president is committed to getting the NHIS bill passed.”</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>The senator, who represents Kwara Central Senatorial district, noted that it would be the first time a bill will make health insurance mandatory for all Nigerians, with the hopes of achieving universal health coverage in Nigeria.</p>

<p>Noting that it was the responsibility of all tiers of government to fund the health sector, as stipulated in the National Health Act, Oloriegbe, however, lamented the failure of state and local governments in committing to healthcare.</p>

<p>“We have federal, state and local governments. If you look at what is happening now, the sub-national levels are not committing as much as necessary to health and the national health act stated the responsibility of each level of government with the federal government having the responsibility for tertiary care,” he noted.</p>

<p>The proprietor of a hospital in Yola, who was abducted last Sunday, has been released.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>It was learnt on Saturday morning that Bala, the proprietor and Medical Director of Aisha Hospital, Ngurore, Yola, regained his freedom Friday evening.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>The immediate past Medical Director of government-owned Specialist Hospital, Yola, rejoined his family hale and hearty.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>A member of the family who did not wish to be named, also objected to request for details surrounding the medical doctor’s release.</p>

<p>The family source would not say whether or not ransom was paid to secure the doctor’s freedom but admitted that the abductors had earlier reached to the family in demand for a ransom.</p>

<p>He would not say how much was demanded.</p>

<p>Bala was abducted last Sunday, December 12, by gunmen who stormed the Aisha Hospital in Ngurore, a satellite community on the Yola-Numan highway, and took him away.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>The Adamawa State Police Command which had at that time spoken of moves to rescue the medical proprietor, said Saturday morning that he had indeed been released.</p>
<p><br /></p>
<p>The state Police spokesman, DSP Sulaiman Nguroje, said, “Yes, I can confirm to you that the medical doctor has been freed.”</p>

<p>Shatu Garko was a Hijab model before she was crowned Miss Nigeria.</p>

<p>A top of 37 participants from different states of Nigeria were selected in the early stage of the pageant competition.</p>

<p>From that, another top 18 contestants for the 44th Miss Nigeria were chosen to compete on the last day which was Friday night.</p>
