What Buhari plans to do to the Igbo race – Fani-Kayode

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He tweeted: “The attempt to break, subjugate and wipe out the Igbo race through the auspices of ethnic cleansing by @MBuhari shall fail.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“This is not about IPOB but about an irrational and pathological hatred of Igbos. If he gets away with it he will come after the rest of us!”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Fani-Kayode had previously condemned the labelling of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), as a terrorist group.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He said: “How can anyone describe an unarmed group of people as terrorists. As far as I am aware Nnamdi Kanu and members of his IPOB have never killed anyone and neither have they been carrying arms.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Theirs is a peaceful non-violent struggle in pursuit of a legitimate aspiration and objective.”</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Adeyeye, however, commended the steps taken so far by the South East Governors’ Forum to ensure peace and stability within the region.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">She stated this in a detailed statement published on her Facebook page titled: ‘Python Dance 2 ~ Nigerians are Drumming for fhe Army.’</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Onochie said: “We must therefore, thank the Nigerian Army for coming to the aid of Nigerians in the South East and safeguarding them from the antics of a very sick young man. Nnamdi Kanu appears to have a tie with a country where arms and ammunition seized by the Nigerian Custom originated from. Nigerians and in particular, Ndigbo in this case, deserve to carry out their lawful engagements, without fear of molestation, she said.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“I now understand why Ohaneze Ndigbo has been unable to stand on solid ground but rather has been on sandy soil regarding Nnamdi Kanu. What is driving their stand? I believe they are being tossed about by every wind of doctrine because of fear of reprisals from little Nnamdi Kanu’s boys.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“In 2015, at the beginning of the Buhari administration, and following the example of Anioma people of Nigeria, other ethnic groups in the South South, and socio-cultural organisations in the South East, including Ohaneze, distanced themselves from the actions of notorious Nnamdi Kanu and his IPOB. Not many people doubted that IPOB was a merchant of terror that tried to use fear, abuses, outright lies, manipulation of the truth and insults to colonise Ndigbo in something that is akin to modern day slavery.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“It is common knowledge but hush hush that South Easterners were being forced to fly the Biafran flag and to wear biafra memorabilia. There have been threats to lives and properties across the South East, and threats of rape to women who shun their hate campaign.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“For starters, Ohaneze Ndigbo is an association that was registered in Nigeria to represent the interests of Ndigbo of Nigeria. That is why it is called Ohaneze Ndigbo and not Ohaneze Ndi-IPOB or Ohaneze Ndi Biafra!</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“How has the Ohaneze helped terrified Ndigbo who are living in fear for their lives and properties in the South East of Nigeria? They haven’t because they themselves have been terrified.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“I have confirmed, via personal interviews of South Easterners who live in Onitsha and Aba, that there was a great sigh of relief when the Nigerian Army was seen in the region. Ndigbo who live in their ancestral homes in the South East, are for the first time in two years, breathing a sigh of relief and freedom.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“You see, little Nnamdi Kanu, a college dropout, is immature and childish. The South East governors know and appreciate this fact. This was why he was asked to come with his father to attend a meeting with them.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“If Nnamdi Kanu needs his father to attend a meeting of leaders, how mature are those who see him not just as their leader, but as their God?</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“These mostly uneducated, half baked and uncouth youngsters, went about the South East, intimidating ordinary Ndigbo, threatening them with death and violence if they refused to kiss Nnamdi Kanu’s toes.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“If the IPOB leader and his cohorts learned a good lesson from The Python dance {1} by turning away from their ways, there would be no need for a second Python dance. When your brother is in trouble, the least you could do is to support him.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The Python dance is not just for the freedom of Ohaneze, so they can have a sound footing, and advocate fearlessly for ordinary Ndigbo, but also, for ordinary Ndigbo so they can associate freely. No one should have to be in danger or live in fear for not supporting a criminal agenda in a free country.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“As an Igbo woman put it, “If Ndigbo need to renegotiate their membership of Nigeria, it will be a discussion and that discussion will not be led by disenchanted politicians and definitely not by Nnamdi Kanu.”</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The Nigerian Army, has come to the South East to exercise it’s duty towards Ndigbo who have been held captive by the fear, not of some foreign aggressors, but of some youngsters who act under the manipulations and brain-washing by one who is delusional. Anyone who suffers from delusions of grandeur or megalomania should not be left running wild among law-abiding people.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“I do not understand those who are calling on the Nigerian Army to stop the Python dance. Nnamdi Kanu is running an illegal government in our nation, complete with his own Army, Police, Secret service, Anthem, coat of arms, passport and currency. If that is not an affront on our collective existence, I don’t know What is.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">Ogbizi while visiting the burnt down Ariaria Police station in company of the Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Operations, Force headquarters, Taiwo Lakanu, accused the pro-Biafra group of using agitation for Biafra to cause violence and propaganda.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">He said, “Nnamdi Kanu and his brother, engages in photo-shopping. They thrive through propaganda.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“They say IPOB is an armless group doing protests, but you have seen it yourself that the group is violent. They set bonfires on the road and attack with offensive weapons.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“IPOB destroyed the Ariaria Police, they were armed with petrol bombs which they used to destroy Police and exhibit vehicles.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“They also carted three pump action rifles and threw a petrol bomb on a patrol vehicle conveying MOPOL men. You can see the destruction of commercial vehicles.</div>

All of you here, all your entitlements, you sat down and ate it.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">It reads further: “For emphasis, it is necessary to restate that the exercise and similar ones with different coded names in some parts of the country were deliberately initiated and conducted with an overarching aim of checkmating identified security challenges prevalent in the regions where they were carried out.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Some of the successful military exercises include: Operation Sharan Daji in tackling livestock rustling and armed banditry in the Northwest; Operation Awatse to tackle militants and oil installation vandals in South-West, especially in the creeks between Lagos and Ogun States; Operation Shirin Harbi in addressing restiveness in the North-East, especially Bauchi and Gombe States; Op Shirin Harbi in containing the rein of killers in Southern Kaduna; Op Harbin Kunama in resolving rustling and armed banditry in forest along Sokoto-Zamfara axis and Op Crocodile Smile, popular in the South-South to combat Criminal elements engaged in the the destruction of oil pipelines and installations.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The first PYTHON DANCE exercise was carried out in the South Eastern Region from 27 November – 27 December 2016. The peculiar security challenges in the region such as kidnapping, abduction, armed robbery, farmers – herdsmen clashes, communal crisis, traffic gridlock and violent secessionist agitation among others as the targets of this Exercise were successfully addressed.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The concept of the current Exercise, like the previous one is purely Command Post, Field Training and Real Time Exercise.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“It is aimed to enhance troops’ agility and preparedness across spectrum of contemporary and emerging security challenges peculiar to South Eastern Region.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“The Exercise is three in one, in that – it was – deliberately designed as – a Command Post Exercise that transmuted into Field Training Exercise and where necessary dovetailed into real time mission or activities such as anti kidnapping drills, Patrols, Raids, Cordon and Search, Check Points, Road Blocks and Show of Force.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“One interesting aspect of the Exercise is that it is multi agency in nature and execution. Relevant Para-Military organizations such as elements of the Nigerian Police Force, Nigerian Security and Civil Defence Corps, State Security Services and Federal Road Safety Commission synergized and collaborated to ensure successful execution and attainment of outlined objectives.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Also, the non-reliance on only Military Line of Operation to achieve the end states of the exercise was part of the texture of the strategy. For this reason, an elaborately generous Civil – Military Cooperation Line of Operation had been successfully planned and executed during this exercise.</div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;"><br /></div>
<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“In this regard, some relevant Nigerian Army Corps and Services such as the Medical Corps and Engineers Corps carried out medical outreaches, roads and schools repairs across the South Eastern Region.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“On the whole, the exercise has numerous objectives. Some of which are; to practice participating units on planning, preparation and conduct of Internal Security Operations, intensify training on Counter Terrorism and Internal Security Operations as well as to deter the activities of kidnappers, cultists, armed robbers and violent secessionist agitators.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Others are – synergizing with relevant Para- Military services to address the identified threats and sharpening the skills of troops towards curtailing current and emerging security challenges peculiar to the South Eastern Region.</div>

<div class="MsoNormal" style="text-align: justify;">“Please note, Exercise EGWU EKE II is not targeted at any individual or group, as law abiding citizens are advised to go about their normal businesses without fear.”</div>
