The Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) has sealed Ajah Quilox Pool and Bar alongside Farms City in Lekki for breaking COVID-19 safety guidelines. 
 
The enforcement exercise was carried out in the late hours of Saturday along the Lekki-Ajah axis of Lagos. LASEPA also sealed two other entertainment outlets — Page One in Ajah and Bien Mange in Abraham Adesanya estate. 
 
Farms City, which is situated along Admiralty Way, Lekki, and Quilox Pool and Bar, which is located in the Ajah area, were alleged to have broken different sections of the state’s environmental law. 
 
While Page One was sealed for operating a beer parlor that encouraged large gathering, Bien Mange allegedly converted a residential building for commercial purposes.

Speaking in event of the law enforcement exercise, Dolapo Fasawe, LASEPA general manager, said the action was in line with the state’s Environmental Management and Protection Law of 2017. 
 
“The agency acted on a tip from a whistleblower alleging traffic congestion, disobedience of the environmental laws as well as non-compliance with safety protocols,” she said. 
 
“Upon arrival, the team noticed several infractions and identified the same to the management, which led to clearing out the fun seekers and shutting down the facility pending full investigations.” 
 
Fasawe added that the sealed facilities disregarded directives on the use of the face mask, social gathering, and 10 pm curfew. 
 
“All offenders, including facilities, event planners, organizers, and promoters would face stern repercussions as consequences for their nonchalant engagement,” she said. 
 
“Apart from the environmental contravention observed in some of the facilities visited, we saw clearly that there were so many other pressing issues that needed to be handled 
 
“All other relevant MDAs… are in sync in ensuring that the position of the government in flattening the curve is sustained in order to reduce the number of positive cases to the pandemic soon.”

Governor Rotimi Akeredolu of Ondo State has promised to commence the process of reconciliation to heal all perceived wounds in the party in the state. 
 
In his acceptance speech after being declared the winner of the Monday governorship primary, Akeredolu pleaded with his other 11 aspirants “to leave the past and let us move on.” 
 
Akeredolu polled 2,458 votes to win the governorship primary, while Olusola Oke scored 262 votes and Isaacs Kekemeke came a distant third with 19 votes. 
 
The governor said that “As a way of engendering unity of purpose and cohesion amongst all party men and women, in a matter of hours, I shall commence, in an inexorable manner, a process of reconciliation to heal all perceived wounds. We need one another more in the future than now. 
 
“Most profoundly, I salute the courage of my brother aspirants. They have enriched the contest, no doubt. I must say that I am particularly enamoured by the determination and the industry we all put into this endeavour.

“All the same, the campaigns preceding this day have been noticeably fraught with mixed feelings. Relationships in some cases may have been bruised and interests hurt. 
 
“In other cases, methods deployed to run these campaigns may not have been pleasant. I plead with all us to leave these in the past and move on. 
 
“This is more so that, all aspirants, including myself, were either victims or indirectly responsible for such unpleasant circumstances. We must find spaces in our hearts to forgive one another. 
 
“I am convinced that our individual pursuits were driven by the altruistic motivation to strengthen our great party and more importantly, take our dear State to loftier heights. 
 
“Therefore, I find it delightful to say here and now, that we have all won together. Consider me as the custodian of your vision for the Sunshine State. 
 
“Together, we shall move the State forward. Under my watch, we shall witness a more robust, reassuring and rewarding relationship. 
 
“Today, history is made. History is made not because of my victory at the just concluded primary of our great party. 
 
“In unpretentious terms, the strong will, dedication, perseverance as well as the palpable resolve of all-party men and women at this very event present a historic moment to behold. 
 
“While I consider this evening reflective of our collective desire to sustain our party in Government, our expressed direction, the exceptional comportment on the part of our delegates and the seeming show of love for one another has thrown further challenges upon me as your leader and Governor.

Ahead of 2023 Presidential election, leaders, comprising of traditional rulers and Politicians from Oke – Ogun zone, Oyo State, Monday stormed the National Assembly, Abuja and urged the President of the Senate, Senator Ahmad Lawan to take a shot at the number one position of the country. 
 
The leaders made the call during their courtesy visit to Lawan Monday after attending the public hearing on a bill seeking for the establishment of Federal University of Agriculture and Technology Oke – Ogun, Oyo State. 
 
The call on him to contest for the position of President is coming barely twenty-four hours after Lawan denied reports of plans to run for the Presidency, come 2023, just as he described such insinuations as beer parlour talks. 
 
In a statement in Abuja on Saturday by his Special Adviser, Media, Lawan who noted that he will not be distracted by what he termed, false report under reference, said however that it was premature for anybody to be talking now about 2023 when all hands should be on deck against the myriad of challenges that face the country at the moment.

Speaking on behalf of the Oke- Ogun delegation yesterday, Barrister Ahmed Raji ( SAN) told the Senate President that the traditional rulers and political leaders from the zone would be happy if the planned Federal University, is established and Ahmad Lawan becoming the visitor of it in the nearest future. 
 
Raji said, “Mr Senate President, we have followed your trajectory over the years and happy to submit that while in the House of Representatives, you made your impacts felt and in the Senate, you have made your marks. 
 
“The people of Oke- Ogun want you to use such a trajectory in getting the planned Federal University of Agriculture and Technology passed into law and implemented. 
 
“They will be happy to see you as Visitor to the University in the nearest future while our son , Senator Abdulfatahi Buhari serves as the host (Governor). 
 
Raji who lamented that of all the 30 federal Institutions in Oyo State, not a single one is sited in Oke – Ogun despite having 60% of the landmass of the State and 10 out of the 33 local government councils. 
 
He said, ” Mr President, leaders of the Oke – Ogun zone, would be most appreciative if, after the passage of the bill, you grant us the honour of personally delivering it to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.” 
 
Responding, the President of the Senate who noted that agenda of the Ninth Senate forms his focus and not any distraction whatsoever, said, “We have promised Nigerians that the 9th National Assembly will work for them and will not allow ourselves to be detracted from getting that done. 
 
”Every part of the country must have a tertiary institution, the very reason, the bill for Federal University in Oke – Ogun, will be pushed by us with the strong belief that President Buhari will sign it into law being somebody who believes in fairness and justice. 
 
”I wish Senator Buhari well in his future ambition but as for us in the Ninth Assembly, Nigeria and Nigerians remains our focus.” 
 
Aside Senator Buhari and federal lawmakers from Oke – Ogun Zone from the House of Representatives, also present were politicians like the former Minister of Communications, Adebayo Shittu as well as frontline traditional rulers like Okere of Shaki, Oba Khalid Olabisi Oyeniyi, Aseyin of Iseyin, Oba AbdulGaniyu Adekunle Salau, among others.
