Ango Abdullahi, acting chairman of Northern Elders Forum (NEF), says President Muhammadu Buhari is not serious about fighting corruption.<br />
<br />
Abdullahi made the remarks during a media chart with newsmen in Kaduna shortly after the opening ceremony of a public lecture on education, on Tuesday.<br />
<br />
He said the prisons would have been filled with corrupt politicians if the current administration is serious about its anti-corruption war.<br />
<br />
The elder statesman said many corrupt politicians have been going about freely because the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) “has forgiven their sins”.<br />

“We have now seen corruption on a massive scale and nobody is doing anything about it” he said.<br />
<br />
“The president said he is fighting corruption, but I don’t believe him because, in the sense, if he is fighting corruption, our courts and prisons should be full by now. This is because corruption is everywhere.<br />
<br />
“You don’t just pick one case and make it a universal example of fighting corruption. We have just seen the conviction of Orji Uzor Kalu and it is becoming something that the world should know when there are so many people with seventy-something billion (naira) with them.<br />
<br />
“Those people should be in the same prison with Uzor Kalu. And in any case, if you want to say that Uzor Kalu had committed an offence, but here is a national chairman of a party, the president’s party who pronounced that ‘don’t worry how much you have stolen somewhere else, as long as you come and say you are a member of APC, you are forgiven’.<br />
<br />
“A good example of that is former governor Danjuma Goje. It was the attorney general of the federation himself that went to court to say they were withdrawing the case from the court.<br />
<br />
“And his offences are not different from Orji Uzor Kalu’s and many others that were reported.”<br />
<br />
Also commenting on the agitation for restructuring, Abdullahi said the presidential system of government must be abandoned if the country is to be restructured.<br />
<br />
“If we are going to restructure Nigeria, we must abandon the presidential system of government,” he said.<br />
<br />
“If you want Nigeria to function as it used to function in 1960 at the point of independence, we should go and reconsider retention of presidential system of government because it is inefficient, it is corrupt and there is no accountability.<br />
<br />
“Under the parliamentary system of government, you cannot be a minister until you are elected from your village.<br />
<br />
“So, you are already accountable to your electorate and then, the leader of your party who happens to be president or prime minister would make a nomination, which means other members must approve. If you are not a good man, from there you have failed.”

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has said that the Corps would use Mobile Courts across Akwa Ibom Command to check recklessness on the road during the festive season.<br />
<br />
The Akwa Ibom Sector Commander of the Corps, Mr Sunday Ogenekaro, said this during the flagged off of the “ember” month sensitation campaign in Uyo on Tuesday.<br />
<br />
Ogenekaro said that the Akwa Ibom Chief Judge, Justice Godwin Abraham, had appointed Magistrates to hear cases brought before the various mobile courts which would be set up in various place across.<br />
<br />
Mr Ogenekaro explained that the courts are to check violation of traffic laws by motorists during the festive season.<br />

<br />
The Sector Commander cautions motorist against disobeying traffic laws, stressing that his command would continue to enforce the use of speed limiting device by fleet operators.<br />
<br />
He urged pedestrians to also obey traffic laws and stay away from ingesting drugs and alcohol while using the roads.<br />
<br />
Ogenekaro advised pedestrians to make use of the footbridges provided for them by the government to avoid accidents.<br />
<br />
The Sector Commander used the medium to warned traders trading or displaying their wears on the road to desist from such practices.<br />
<br />
“In an eventuality where the breaks of a car plying such a road fails it may lead to a fatal accident at such spots,” Ogenekaro said.<br />
<br />
He said that the corps was in constant touch with the government by pointing out failed portions on roads that needed quick attention during this festive period.<br />
<br />
The sector commander said that the corps would continue to sensitise motorists and other road users on the need to act with caution and drive safely during and after the festive season.<br />
<br />
The sector commander urged motorists to pay premium attention to their lives, stressing that life is not a motor part that could be replaced easily.<br />
<br />
He appealed to drivers to plan their journey and begin on time to avoid rush, which could lead to road crash.

Femi Adesina, spokesman of President Muhammadu Buhari, says Nigeria would have been a better country if the president’s military regime had lasted longer.<br />

Adesina said this in an article celebrating the president’s birthday which was shared on his Facebook account on Tuesday.<br />
<br />
Buhari led Nigeria as a military dictator from 1983 to 1985 before he was deposed and replaced by Ibrahim Babangida.<br />
<br />
According to Adesina, Buhari’s regime led Nigeria on the right path “till forces of reaction struck, and we were back to worse than square one”.<br />
<br />

“I have said it before, and I say it again. I have followed Buhari since he was a military ruler, when I was an undergraduate,” he said.<br />
<br />
“And if that regime had lasted for longer, Nigeria would not be in the doldrums that she found herself. It was a tough administration, but which was leading us on the right path.<br />
<br />
“You could imagine my joy when Buhari eventually emerged civilian President after 12 years of struggle. I didn’t think I was going to ever serve in government, but I found myself in it. Just because it was Buhari.”<br />
<br />
Adesina added that he remains a “dyed-in-the-wool Buharist” irrespective of what others see as “foibles and failings of the administration”.<br />
<br />
He said unlike “many past leaders,” the president is not a thief, adding: “We know people who were worth only thousands when they got into leadership positions in this country, but they came out in obscene wealth.”<br />
<br />
The presidential spokesman also dismissed the “jaded” talk of the fight against corruption being selective, saying those of that opinion are “operating from a mindset”.<br />
<br />
“No matter who you are, however close you can be to him, when it comes to corruption, this President speaks up for no one. That is why the anti-corruption agencies are making conquests. He tele-guides them in no way,” he said.<br />
<br />
“If all the information you consume is from social media, and the critical segment of the traditional media, you will likely miss the correct pulse of the country.”<br />

‘Uyo Meyo’ crooner, Teni held her much anticipated concert on Monday 16th of December 2019 at the Eko Convention Centre. Though the show started late but Teni made up for it with her witty and exciting performance routine.<br />

Artistes like Tiwa Savage, Joeboy, Falz, Skibii and others performed at the show which further made it an unforgettable night.<br />

At 12:03 in the morning, a voice began delivering panegyrics in Ondo dialect. Accompanied by beautiful women dressed as handmaidens, Teni made a majestic entrance on the stage. She wore a white agbada, bore a walking stick on her right hand and had a horse tail on the left. The first song she performed was ‘Uyo Meyo.’<br />

The company’s primary business is its subscription-based streaming service which offers online streaming of a library of film and television programme, including those produced in-house.<br />

Obodo, who said he was not happy over the recent happenings in the entertainment industry (movie), took to his twitter handle @bobbyobodo to share his opinion.<br />

“Most of the movies we are putting out on #Netflix are becoming painful to see,“ he said.<br />
<br />
He urged movie producers to shy away from producing movies that viewers would detest, adding that such great opportunity should be utilised to literally reach to most parts of the world.<br />

“Everybody want their “shit” on Netflix- I suspect for $$$ and bragging rights.<br />
<br />
“I hope creative producers/directors/writers will start putting out good movies for them to save us the shame and ridicule that can befall #Nollywood before it is too late.<br />

“Lazy and predictable storylines, horrible extras, disastrous costumes, etc. This opportunity is golden!,” he wrote.<br />

Obodo, also known as Micheal, is a Nigerian actor that made his acting debut in 2011.<br />
<br />
The talented actor who is based in Canada is also a political scientist, activist, writer and a businessman.<br />
<br />
As an entrepreneur, he is the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MIBO Logistics Limited and also CEO of Youths for Change and “ALL IN”, a youth and community organisation in Toronto, Canada.<br />
<br />
He has acted in many movies along side with Monalisa Chinda, Lisa Omorodion, Lydia Forson, Genevieve Nnaji, Tonto Dikeh, Charles Okafor, Jackie Appiah and many others.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">“Christmas, Nigerians will have light all through. I will be on duty on Christmas day and you can see me going round all the power plants. Even on Christmas day I will go out to visit the power plants. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">Jedy-Agba commended the Managing Director of Azura, Edu Okeke, for living up to his billing, adding that the Azura is a pride of the nation and that he is proud to be a part of the project.</div>
