Adebayo Akinfenwa has an invitation to Liverpool’s future Premier League title parade after Jürgen Klopp fulfilled his request for a congratulatory WhatsApp message. 
 
The Wycombe Wanderers striker – and huge Reds fan – called for contact from Klopp during an emotional post-match interview in the aftermath of his team’s League One play-off final win over Oxford United at Wembley on Monday night. 
 
The boss duly responded and Akinfenwa posted the video message he received from Merseyside on social media. 
 
On Tuesday, Klopp was asked when he’ll meet up with the forward and whether he had received a reply.

“When it’s possible, in the future one day,” the manager said. “I don’t know when exactly but he is invited for the parade, 100 per cent! 
 
“I saw, before the video, when he was sitting in the team meeting in a Liverpool kit which I thought was really funny! I watched the game last night [and] yes, he responded – he sent a video back. It’s private (what he said), at least a few things in life should stay private. 
 
“It was nice, he was obviously really happy.” 
 
Klopp went on to state how happy stories such as that of the 38-year-old Akinfenwa – who was without a club four years ago but can now look forward to his first opportunity to play at Championship level – make him. 
 
He added, “It was just nice to see. Yesterday (Monday) before the game I was, to be 100 per cent honest, neither a Wycombe supporter or an Oxford supporter but Ben Woodburn plays for Oxford, so I was slightly more on the side of Oxford.” 
 
“But I watched the game just because I wanted to see it and then when they won it, it’s just nice, you see how much it means to them. When you are involved, I don’t like the play-offs too much. I was (involved) in my life once or twice and the pressure is really incredible, it’s not a lot to do with enjoyment.”

The race for who becomes the next director-general of the World Trade Organisation enters a new phase this week as eight candidates from four continents appear before WTO members to share their visions. 
 
Following the nomination stage which closed on July 8, the five male and three female candidates will, from July 15 to 17, present themselves to members of the 164 States that comprise the WTO. 
 
Interestingly, Nigeria, one of the founding members of the international trade negotiation and dispute settlement body established on January 1, 1995, is also fielding its former finance and foreign affairs minister, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as a replacement for the incumbent DG, Roberto Azevêdo, who steps down on August 31, 2020. 
 
Other candidates are Abdel-Hamid Mamdouh (Egypt), Amina Mohamed (Kenya), Jesús Kuri (Mexico), Tudor Ulianovschi (Moldova), Yoo Myung-hee (Korea), Mohammad Al-Tuwaijri (Saudi Arabia), and Liam Fox (UK).

Nigeria’s candidate and ex-director of World Bank will on Wednesday afternoon by 15:00hrs meet with WTO members to share her vision for the organisation. During the meeting, members will also have the opportunity to ask her questions and generally evaluate her suitability for the job. 
 
Okonjo Iweala’s spokesperson, Paul Nwabuikwu, told said that the Harvard graduate has been “incredibly busy preparing for the meeting”. 
 
Since the WTO was created in 1995, three of its directors-general were from Europe, while one each came from Oceania, Asia and South America. 
 
Africa fancies its chances this time, even though there is no regional rotation principle at the global trade body. 
 
Though no female or African has occupied the seat since the inception of the organisation, Okonjo-Iweala hopes to break that record.

Nigeria, on Tuesday, recorded 463 new COVID-19 cases with 10 deaths. 
 
According to the Nigeria Centre for Disease, NCDC, daily report, no new state has reported a case in the last 24 hours. 
 
“Till date, 33,616 cases have been confirmed, 13,792 cases have been discharged and 754 deaths have been recorded in 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja,” NCDC noted. 
 
The 463 new cases were reported from 17 states. 
 
The states are Lagos with  128, followed by  Kwara with 92, Enugu  39, Delta 33  Edo 29, Plateau 28, Kaduna 23, Oyo 15, Ogun 14, Osun 14, FCT 12, Ondo 9, Rivers 9, Abia 8, Bayelsa 5, Ekiti 3, and Borno 2.

Fahim Saleh, 33, the CEO of Lagos-based motorcycle-hailing company has been murdered. 
 
The limbless, headless torso of the millionaire tech entrepreneur was found inside his $2.25 million apartment in New York on Tuesday afternoon, with an electric saw lying next to the remains, police in New York said. 
 
Police made the grisly discovery in a building on E. Houston St. at Suffolk St. on the Lower East side about 3:30 p.m. Cops found contractor bags near the torso, sources said, but didn’t immediately open them to see if the body parts were inside. 
 
NYPD spokesman Sgt. Carlos Nieves said all of the body parts were found at the scene but declined to give specifics on where.

“We have a torso, a head that’s been removed, arms, and legs. Everything is still on the scene. We don’t have a motive,” he said. 
 
Detectives were waiting for fingerprint and forensics tests on the body, police sources said. 
 
The NYPD went to the seventh-floor condo after the victim’s sister called 911. She came calling Tuesday because she hadn’t seen her brother in a day, then discovered his dismembered corpse, an NYPD spokesman said. 
 
An elevator surveillance camera may have caught the victim’s last moments, sources said. It shows the victim getting into the elevator Monday, followed quickly by a second man, dressed in a suit, wearing gloves, a hat and a mask over his face. 
 
After the victim walked out onto his floor, he fell immediately, possibly shot or stunned. 
 
“The perp had a suitcase. He was very professional,” one police source said. 
 
The curtains were drawn at the newly-constructed apartment building, where condos were sold starting at $2.15 million last year. 
 
Neighbor Daniel Faust, 40, said he saw police lead two women from the building. 
 
“There was one that came first, with short black hair. Then a second one came, a little taller and with long hair. They were just hysterical, I guess in disbelief. And then they left with the detectives,” he said. 
 
Police also brought a dog, a mid-sized Pomsky, out of the building, he said. 
 
Saleh was described as a self-made millionaire who brought tech companies into nations like Nigeria and Indonesia, an energetic person who loved gadgets and video games. 
 
Though they believe he was targeted, he never acted like he was worried about anything, the friend said. 
 
“He never said he was scared,” the male friend said. “[He was] always very happy-go-lucky.” 
 
They said he had just moved in recently to this apartment – somewhere around the end of 2019. Saleh posted a photo of his new home on Twitter in December.
