The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ekiti State has described as baseless, the denial offered by Commissioner For Public Utilities, Deji Adesua, over the accusation that Governor Ayodele Fayose expends N210 million monthly to power street-lights in Ado-Ekiti, the state capital.

A group, Enlightened Workers’ Forum (EWF), had few days ago quoted the state Accountant General Report as saying that the government spent N210 million monthly to power streetlights in the state capital, saying such figure was fraudulently over-bloated, as streetlight was available for only three hours daily.

The Commissioner for Public Utilities, had described the claim of EWF members as mischievous, saying, spending such an amount to maintain streetlights was not feasible in Ekiti of today.

But the APC praised the group for raising the alarm over the alleged fraud, even as it also commended the State Accountant General for letting the public know about the over-bloated figure that the governor had been passing to the government over fuel supply claim.

The party said the N210m quoted by the group and the Accountant General was the same figure Fayose quoted in his October 2015 media chat that rankled the residents who expressed shock over such figure even though street light was only available from 7pm to 10pm everyday
