Police arrest seven hoodlums in Lagos
Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested seven suspected hoodlums at the National Theatre, Iganmu.
The arrest of the suspects, said to be members of a large gang, was sequel to the visit of the Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, to the premises, following cries by people of the state that there were incessant robbery attacks on fun seekers at the National Theatre.
It was gathered that the suspects who were nabbed between December 25, 2015 and January 3 had daggers and knives in their possession.
It was learnt that the hoodlums also threw explosives (knockouts) at their victims to scare them off, before dispossessing them of their belongings.
The suspects were alleged to have robbed their victims of mobile phones, laptops, money and other valuables.
Confirming the arrest, the state command’s spokesman, Joseph Offor, a DSP, said the suspects will soon be charged to court.
He said the police was bent on flushing criminals out of Lagos, warning the hoodlums who usually way lay road users in the axis to leave the state.
