Cultists have killed no fewer than three people in a fresh cult clash in Elibrada community, Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State on Wednesday.

A source in the community gave names of the victims as Nwonebe Wosu, Chinedu Owhor and Chinule.

It was gathered that the clash that erupted in the area was between members of the Icelander and Deygbam cult groups.

A source close to the community, who did not want his name in print, confirmed that the community recorded three casualties after heavy shots that lasted for over four hours, Wednesday night.

The source also worried that the community has been deserted because of the killing and shootings.

The source said, “Just Wednesday morning we recorded three deaths. There was no tension prior to the killing. The only thing we saw was late in the night there were gunshots all over the community.

“As at that time when the gun battle started there was no police patrol. Every effort we made to bring security to the community that night was abortive. As it stands now the people are living in fear.”

When contacted, the Public relations Officer of the Rives State Police Command, Nnamdi Omoni, confirmed the incident. He added that he had not gotten an official report from the District Police Officer in that area.

Omoni said, “I have not gotten official report of the incident from the DPO in charge of that area. But I have received a call hinting me about it.”
