Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode has described the acclaimed winner of June 12 1993 presidential election, MKO Abiola and his wife, Kudirat as true heroes and martyrs of democracy.
MKO Abiola is believed to be the winner of the June 12 1993 presidential election, which was annulled by the then military president, Ibrahim Babangida.
In a terse tribute to the duo on Monday, the PDP chieftain said the memories of MKO and his wife, Kudirat lived on.
He wrote on his Facebook page, “On June 12th 1993, MKO Abiola won Nigeria’s freest and fairest presidential election. It was annulled and he was detained by the military.
“He, his wife Kudirat together with many other pro-democracy activists were murdered in cold blood. They were martyrs for democracy and true heroes. We honor their memories and sacrifice today.”
Meanwhile, South West governors have all declared Monday (today) a public holiday, in honour of the winner of the June 12, 1993 Presidential Election, the late Chief Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola.
