The Oba of Benin, Oba Ewuare II, has lauded the efforts of the Ekiti State Governor, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, in providing good governance for the people of the South-West state.
Also, Fayose used the occasion to emphasise the need for Nigeria to remain united, adding that “I represent the belief that this country must stay united in justice as without justice, there would be no peace.”
Oba Ewuare disclosed this when he received the governor and the Vice-Chancellor of the Benson Idahosa University, Prof. Ernest Izevbigie, at his palace in Benin, Edo State, on Thursday.
The monarch stated that the governor had demonstrated his commitment to democracy in Nigeria, in spite of the challenges inherent in government.
The Oba, who noted that he was aware of the governor’s political actions, expressed his support for the peaceful resolution of conflict in the country.
He also informed him of his forthcoming nationwide tour, which he said, would see him visiting the Presidency and states in the federation, including Ekiti.
The monarch said, ”I want to reassure you that this palace is your home and you can come officially and privately. We can then have confidential discussions and exchange ideas.
“I salute your commitment to democracy and good governance out there and we say (you should) keep on doing the good work, in spite of the adversities being faced.”
Earlier, Fayose had explained that he was in Edo to deliver a lecture at the 13th convocation of the university.
He, however, praised the traditional ruler for his exemplary leadership.
