The Nigerian Police have relocated the senator representing Kogi West, Dino Melaye, to the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS) Headquarters at Guzape in Abuja.

It is the second relocation within two days.

The senator was initially relocated to the Department of State Security (DSS) Hospital on Friday for further medical examination.

Following his alleged refusal to enter the DSS facility, the Police yesterday decided to relocate him to the Intelligence Response Team (IRT) Headquarters.

Confirming his relocation to newsmen the Force spokesman, Ag. DCP Jimoh Moshood, yesterday said: “The police medical team at our facility examined him and concluded that he was okay to stand trial, but he insisted that he was not okay.

“He was later taken from DSS Hospital on Friday but he refused to enter. He preferred to sleep outside. His insistence to sleep outside showed that he is healthy.

“So, he has been taken to detention at IRT Office and we have 14 days warrant. He will be taken to court within the 14 days period.”

The senator is wanted by the police for a case of criminal conspiracy and attempted culpable homicide against him committed on July 19, 2018, when he and his armed thugs attacked police personnel, shot and wounded SGT Danjuma Saliu, who was on a stop-and-search duty on Aiyetoro Gbede, Mopa Road in Kogi State.

The police also said the policeman is yet to recover from the gunshot injury he sustained during the attack, adding that he is still under intensive medical care in the hospital.
