The National Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Senator John Akpanudoedehe has disclosed that the party had since undertaken a rebuilding process aimed at taking over the government of Akwa Ibom State at the 2023 general polls.

Senator Akpanudoedehe in a press conference held at the NUJ Press centre, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, on Monday, noted that he has told his party members not to heat up the polity.

He added that with their recent reconciliation drive, the party would surely capture the State in the next elections.

He, however, dismissed the purported crisis rocking the party in the State saying, “There is no crisis in Akwa Ibom APC; we are united because we recently had a reconciliation meeting and we all have accepted the need for peace in our party, except you were not at the reconciliation meeting.

“The party is united. Akpabio, Ita Enang, Umana Umana and I are united and intact.”

He said that individual’s interest should not be mistaken as a conflict in the party, noting that other APC members from the state will step forward to contest for governorship in 2023, stressing, ‘But I will win all of them.’

“Don’t count interest of aspiration to be conflict. If a person wants to be governor and I also want to be governor, that’s interest. It does not mean that there is conflict in the party.” He said.

He also commended the Akwa Ibom Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) led by Comrade Amos Etuk, for offering the platform for the opposition to ventilate its views on leadership, explaining that the ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state may not be the best for the common good of the people.

While warning Akwa Ibom people against wholeheartedly following the sentiments of politicians and political party, the former Minister recalled that some PDP chiefs including former governor Godswill Akpabio were controlling PDP, “but today, they are with me in the APC”, adding: “you don’t know where governor Udom Emmanuel will be tomorrow.”
