The Republican Party Central Committee in Carbon County, Wyoming, has taken action against Republican House member, Liz Cheney for voting to impeach President Trump.
Liz Cheney is now in trouble in her home state as her support crumbles, according to Washington Times.
The censure resolution passed a unanimous vote by the 45-member central committee. It included a demand the lawmaker appear before the committee to explain her actions.
“Our representative did not represent our voice,” said Carbon County GOP Chairman Joey Correnti IV, who presented the resolution to the central committee at a Saturday meeting where the vote took place.
Cheney was condemned in the resolution for her conduct and was accused of defying the will of most Wyoming Republican voters by being in a rushed impeachment of Donald Trump.
The resolution also insisted that the November 3 election was not free and fair, adding that a “vocal majority of Wyoming Republicans recognize there were significant irregularities.”
Also fellow members of the House Republican Conference are demanding that Cheney steps down from her post as conference chair without further delay.
Andy Biggs from Arizona, and Matt Rosendale of Montana, are the Republican Reps circulating a petition to knock her off the leadership team.
However, Cheney has refused to step down.
Correnti has further accused her of having gone into hiding as she had not responded to the county central committee as of Monday.
“People in the county party have attempted to get a hold of Rep. Cheney through email, phone calls — and I think only one person got a response from a staffer and it was pretty short,” he said. “We haven’t heard anything.”
Cheney was one of 10 Republican lawmakers who supported and voted for Trump’s impeachment last week.
Trump was impeached on Wednesday having been accused of inciting his supporters to attack the US Capitol on a day the Congress was certifying Joe Biden’s win.
The Republican President became the first President to be impeached twice as he leaves office in the next few hours.
Joe Biden who won the November 3 presidential election alongside his Vice President-elect, Kamala Harris will be sworn in on Wednesday January 20 to become the 46th President of America.
Meanwhile, President Donald Trump will become the first US President in 150 years not to attend the inauguration of his successor having announced that he won’t grace the occasion.
