Manchester United boss, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, has insisted that Villarreal made it hard for his team following their Europa League final defeat against Villarreal on Wednesday night.
Solskjaer explained that Villarreal defended well against Man United, adding that the Red Devils didn’t create a big change against the LaLiga side during the encounter.
Villarreal defeated Man United 11-10 on penalties in Gdansk to win this year’s Europa League.
Gerard Moreno gave Villarreal the lead in the first half, clipping Dani Parejo’s free-kick past David De Gea.
However, Man United levelled after the break, with Edinson Cavani slotting home a rebound.
“They made it hard for us and closed the spaces. We had the majority of possession and they defended well.
“We didn’t create enough big chances,” Solskjaer was quoted by Man United’s official website as saying after the game.
