James Faleke, a member of the House of Representatives, visited former Lagos governor, Bola Tinubu, on Wednesday in London.

The lawmaker, representing Ikeja Federal Constituency, is the Chairman, House Committee on Finance.

Faleke made the trip to the United Kingdom after reports that Tinubu underwent another surgery. Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu visited earlier.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) national leader is recuperating and is expected back in Nigeria this month.

Faleke is a protégé of the Jagaban of Borgu. In 2015, Tinubu helped him emerge as the running mate to late Kogi governorship candidate, Abubakar Audu.

With 240,867 votes, Audu was leading the then incumbent Governor Idris Wada of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) who polled 199,514 votes.

Faleke contested in the election despite being a serving legislator from Lagos, a confirmation of his strong backing.

But Audu suddenly passed away while leading the election. There were legal arguments on whether Faleke should replace him since it was a joint ticket.

Some lawyers argued that the constitution did not envisage such a situation and insisted there was no legal backing for a running mate to replace a candidate who died before certification as winner.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) later declared the election inconclusive.

The APC then conducted a fresh primary which produced the eventual winner Governor Yahaya Bello with an angry Faleke condemning his victory.
