FIFA has confirmed that this year’s Club World Cup will be held in the United Arab Emirates in early 2022.
The annual tournament brings together the champions of the different continents along with the host nation’s national champions.
Japan and recently, South Africa, pulled out as hosts due to the high number of COVID-19 cases.
Chelsea will face Egyptian side Al Ahly and New Zealand’s Auckland City, who are among the 10 teams who have qualified for the tournament.
FIFA president, Gianni Infantino, also announced that a global summit would take place on December 20.
The agenda would be “presenting an agreed proposal” on football’s new men’s and women’s international calendar.
