Nigeria concludes airlift of pilgrims to Saudi Arabia
The National Hajj commission has announced the completion of the airlift of Nigeria’s intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia just one day before the closure of the King AbdullaAziz international airport, Jedda.
The Chairman of the National Hajj Commission, Abdullahi Mukhtar, said this in an interview with the BBC Friday.
Mr. Mukhtar said this year Nigeria airlifted 66,000 intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
“This year we have concluded the airlift of all our intending pilgrims to Saudi Arabia at least a day before the closure of the King AbdulAziz Airport,” he said.
He also said that the operations happened under 160 air trips from across the Nigerian states with the last two airlift from Port Harcourt and Abuja.
The King AbdulAziz International airport is expected to close for air operations concerning Hajj for all countries of the world on Saturday.
Meanwhile all Hajj rites are to begin on September 21.
