Mourinho's Chelsea lose again, crash out of League Cup
Things are getting from bad to worse for Jose Mourinho as Chelsea were knocked out of the League Cup after losing 5-4 on penalties to Stoke City on Tuesday night.
Eden Hazard missed the decisive spot-kick to increase the pressure on under-fire Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
Jon Walters gave Stoke the lead with an excellent strike in the 52nd minute, before Loic Remy sent the tie to extra time with a dramatic last-gasp equaliser.
The hosts were reduced to 10 men just seconds in second-half injury time when Phil Bardsley was shown a second yellow card, but Chelsea were unable to make the breakthrough in the additional 30 minutes.
And Mourinho's men were made to pay in the shoot-out, with Hazard's effort saved by Jack Butland.
