Nigeria’s senate president, Bukola Saraki has stated that the upper chamber will not be paying a kobo for Facebook training following inquiry from citizens of the most populous black nation in the world.

Saraki who responded to Nigerians on Twitter said he approved the training for senators and their aides because it was absolutely free. “Facebook offered to train Senators & their aides ABSOLUTELY FREE on how to effectively use the platform. I approved,” he replied to a tweet.

“@bukolasaraki pls how much is that going to cost the @NGRSenate?” Adesoji Gabriel asked and Saraki responded with “Not a single kobo”.

He noted that “The training is absolutely free. Facebook Inc covering their cost of flying to Nigeria”.

It would be recalled that on Thursday in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, Sen. Isa Galaudu stated that senators are to receive free Facebook training.

The Chief of Staff to the President of the Senate said this in a letter sent to the senators inviting them for the event.

“Senators and their aides receive training on use of facebook in line with the promise of the President of the Senate to ensure more representative legislature using e-parliamentary tools.

“This is a partnership between the Office of the Senate President and Facebook.

“Senators and aides who wish to participate in the programme should please email grsenatesocial@gmail.com with their full names.”
