IDP camp attack: Death toll rises
The National Emergency Management Authority on Thursday has said death toll in the Dikwa Internally Displaced Person’s camp suicide bomb attack has risen to 58.
The information officer of the agency, Sani Datti revealed on the telephone that 58 persons were killed while 78 persons were injured in the attack.
On Wednesday, the Chairman of Borno State Emergency Management Agency, Ahmed Satomi had said 30 persons were killed when two female suicide bombers attacked an the Internally Displaced Persons camp in Borno State on Tuesday.
Satomi had also said the attack occurred at the camp in Dikwa at about 6.30am on Tuesday.
Dikwa is about 90 kilometres from Maiduguri, the Borno state capital and was recently reclaimed from Boko Haram fighters by Nigerian soldiers. Over 70,000 displaced persons are being housed in IDP camps in the town.
