The United States and European Union have condemned the recent suicide attacks on internally displaced persons in Borno.

According to press statements issued by the two embassies in Abuja, U.S and EU said the attack was unaccepted.


U.S noted that it will continue to support the Nigerian government in its fight against terrorism.

“We extend our deepest condolences to the families of the victims. The United States remains committed to assisting internally displaced populations in northeastern Nigeria through humanitarian relief efforts. We also continue to support the Nigerian government in its fight against terrorism,” the U.S said in a statement.

EU on its part stated that it remains engaged to support the wider Sahel and Lake Chad region in their efforts to curb violence and terrorism.”

The statement reads: “Only 10 days after the violence perpetrated in northeastern Nigeria and southern Chad, a new terrorist attack involving two female suicide bombers has this time struck a Nigerian camp hosting some 50,000 people, killing at least 58.

“We express our condolences to all those affected by this attack.”
