A woman has taken to Facebook to issue a warning to people who drink and drive after a drunk driver ploughed into their family car, killing her husband and the child in her womb.
Kristian Guerrero, 24, lost her 23-year-old husband, Fabian, and her son when the family was involved in a car crash in San Marcos, Texas, on the evening of August 2, 2016.
She had been married for only 11 months when the tragic incident occurred. Fabian died shortly after while Kristan, who was five months pregnant, was induced to give birth to her stillborn child.
The driver behind the wheels of the car that ploughed into them was 21-year-old Shana Elliott. and she had been drunk at the time of the crash. She was later charged with two counts of intoxicated manslaughter.
After Kristian recovered from her injuries, she shared a heartbreaking image on Facebook, showing the mangled remains of the family's car. She also shared a photo of herself in the hospital, bruised and battered, while cradling her stillborn son.

"This is me finally being able to hold my son. This is what being in an induced labour for almost 24 hours after surviving a car crash that killed my husband and my son looks like. All because someone thought it was okay to get wasted and drive. It's not okay. It IS okay to stop a friend from driving, it IS okay to take away someone's keys from them when they're showing signs of being drunk. And it IS okay to pick up the phone and call for a ride if you find yourself feeling a little too tipsy. It's not a sign of weakness. It's a sign of maturity to be honest with yourself and know the consequences of driving drunk outweigh any kind of shame you might feel admitting you're too drunk to drive."
She continued:
What's not okay is spending the rest of your life with the guilt of knowing you've taken someone's life and taken someone's life away before they even got a chance to be in this world. It's not worth it. Don't drink and drive. Don't risk your freedom. You're putting not only your life in danger but also everyone else on the road. I could've died Aug 2nd but God had other plans. I'm left behind to fight this fight for my husband and my son. And I will continue to spread awareness and share this story until the day I die in hopes it prevents anyone else from feeling the pain I walk around with every day. I refuse to let my husband and my son's deaths be in vain."
Recently, Kristian posted a tribute to her late husband alongside two separate pictures of her and Fabian as they journeyed to their wedding ceremony. In the caption, she wrote:
"Last night, I was looking through our pictures thinking how much happier my life was with you in it. Times were simpler, I walked with such confidence because you were by my side. I came across these photos and they were side by side. The crazy thing is, we never sent them to each other. But they ended up right next to each other in my phone. We were travelling to the most important day of our lives separately but when we came together it was the most beautiful and sacred of moments. It dawned on me that that's exactly what we're doing now. You may have gotten there before me but I'm on my way babe. I'm working hard everyday to make sure I make it to you and our little prince. These past 9 months have been so difficult trying to function without my other half but I feel you and baby James push me everyday and I'm so grateful for it. I love you both with every bit that is left of me."
