Angered by the appointment of Director General, National Lottery Regulatory Commission, Mr. Adolphus Joe Ekpe without due process, Senate on Thursday has barred him from office.
The Senate leader who was tasked to investigate the matter on Wednesday reported that the embattled DG was misadvised, adding that he was desperate to occupying the office in substantive capacity. (read HERE)
“Mr. President, distinguished colleagues, I have investigated the matter thoroughly and discovered that the Lottery Commission DG has assumed office”
” I can also tell you that he was misadvised and as well very desperate to assume that office without the process of passing through Senate as required by law.”
He explained that he met with people that know, including the Acting Secretary to the government of the federation, adding that the executive has apologized.
“The Acting SGF apologised and pleaded for leniency, promising such a thing will not happen again.”
“I also told the SGF the DG should not be seen close to that office until the right thing is done.”
Responding, Senate President, Dr Bukola Saraki having satisfied with the report, explained that the DG remain banned from office till further development.
He confirmed that the information which was brought by Dino Melaye was authentic.
