Tottenham bade farewell to White Hart Lane in style by beating Manchester United 2-1 to secure second place in the Premier League.

Tottenham needed just six minutes to race into the lead, with Victor Wanyama rising in the box to meet Ben Davies' cross and head home.

They created a host of chances as the first half wore on but were unable to find a second, with Son Heung-Min, Dele Alli and Harry Kane all being denied by David De Gea.

But the hosts did manage to double their lead just a few minutes after the break, with Kane diverting Christian Eriksen's free kick past De Gea with a clever finish.

United pulled one back in the 71st minute through Wayne Rooney, who forced the ball in after being picked out in the middle by Anthony Martial.

However, Jose Mourinho's side were unable to find an equaliser, with Marcus Rashford wasting a chance in stoppage time, meaning Tottenham could celebrate a triumphant end to life at White Hart Lane.
