It has emerged that Nigeria’s international friendly against Togo will not be counted as an A game by FIFA.
Ahmed Musa scored twice, while Kelechi Iheanacho also got on the score sheet, as the Super Eagles won 3-0.
According to the team’s former media officer, Colin Udoh, Gernot Rohr made nine substitutions during the game played in Paris on Thursday night.
The maximum number of substitutions allowed by the world football governing body to rate the match as an A game is six.
Udoh tweeted: “That’s 9 substitutions by Rohr. That means this is no longer an A game. Won’t count much towards FIFA rankings #NGAT”
Earlier in the day, the Eagles moved up in the June edition of the FIFA Ranking. The former African champions who previously occupied the 40th position in the world, moved two places and are now 38th. They are the 4th best country on the continent.
The Nigerian senior national team is yet to lose a game under Rohr.
The next FIFA Ranking is set for July 6th.
